a pacifica cliff. the pair of 13 year old girls and a 22 year old man were stuck 700 feet down a steep cliff. they were forced to stay overnight onff because firefighters could not get to them. kron4's michelle kingston has the details. three people hiking the cliffs in pacifca got stuck ... stranded about 700 feet down shelter cove bluff -- located off of kent road.north county fire authority says the stranded hikers -- a 23 year old and two 13 year olds -- called them around 9:30 friday night.but because of where they were located, the darkness and the weather-- firefighters weren't able to get to them.they stayed in touch throughout the night and were rescued safely on saturday morning by a california highway

( marty )also in berkeley, inv death of a man at the berkeley marina. it happened just before six o'clock saturday evening. the body of the boater was spotted by a bystander... who called for help. rescuers found the body in the water, near an outrigger canoe. police don't believe there was anyone else in the canoe when it overturned. friday. one caused ash and gas plumes to soar nearly ten-thousand feet in the air. the volcanic activity has destroyed more than four-hundred homes. ( marty ) mcdonald's is saying goodbye to plastic straws - in the u-k and ireland for now. the fast food giant said that they will switch to paper straws starting in september. mcdondald's says a majority of its customers support the move... amid growing support for the fight against plastic pollution. the company says it uses close to 2-million straws every day at its 13-hundred locations in the u-k and ireland. so getting rid of plastic straws could do a lot to cut pollution environmental gorups say plastic straws are the sixth most common type of litter globally. police are investigating an overnight shooting in new jersey.police say two suspects opened fire around 2-45 this morning at a crowded art festival. one suspect is in custody... the other is dead. 20 people were injured... 4 of those are in critical condition right now. the festival has since been canceled. american canyon have released a surveillance photo of a car they are looking for in connection to car vandalism cases. they are searching for this dark blue dodge charger. police are asking residents on the east side of american canyon to look through their home surveillance system. specifically in the early morning hours of friday. ( marty ) and police in benicia are also looking for car vandals. friday night police received calls of people driving around in a dark color dodge charger shooting b-b guns at parked cars. that's a similar description of the suspect car in the american canyon vandalisms one person was also injured in this case.. ( marty ) in the south bay... police in sunnyvale are investigating a crash that left a person dead. police responded to a call on el camino real near henderson avenue. a 67-year -old woman was driving the car that hit the man... she suffered minor injuries from the crash. she is cooperating with investigators. the man's name has not been released . is finishing up repairs on their home after a ásecond break-in from the same perpetrator. the suspect was not scared off by a house alarm, because it's a bear. the couple has lived in south lake tahoe for 20- years... and now consider themselves lucky. the couple left their house for a little more than an hour and the bear managed to get inside through a small window. the three-hundred pound bear managed to make several food trips while the couple was gone. visitors can of the oldest and largest sequoia trees in the world. the mariposa grove at yosemite national park in california will reopened to the public on friday. the trees have been growing in the area for about 2-thousand years, but constant traffic put them at risk. so the park spent 40 million dollars into trees. many of the he changes restore the area to its natural form by removing parking lots and pavement. ( marty ) for the first time in three years -- visitors can take in some of the oldest and largest sequoia trees in the world. the mariposa grove at yosemite national park in california will reopened to the public on friday. the trees have been growing in the area for about 2-thousand years, but constant traffic put them at risk. so the park spent 40 million dollars into renovations to protect the trees. many of the changes restore the area to its natural form by removing parking lots and pavement. shelter cove bluff -- located off of kent road.north county fire authority says the stranded hikers -- a 23 year old and two 13 year olds -- called them around 9:30 friday night.but because of where they were located, the darkness and the weather-- firefighters weren't able to get to them.they stayed in touch throughout the night and were rescued safely on saturday morning by a california highway patrol helicopter.stuck for more than 13 hours, the three hikers were reunited with family and checked by medical personnel -- but were all able to go home with no injuries reported. ( marty ) in the south bay... police in sunnyvale are investigating a crash that left a person dead. police responded to a call on el camino real near henderson avenue. a 67-year -old woman was driving the car that hi she is cooperating with investigators. the man's name has not been released . behind the scenes ... here at kron 4... a lot of people who work here did some good this week! friday was founder's day of caring... for the nexstar media group... that owns kron 4. nexstar employees across the country... volunteered at food banks in their communities.. here's a look from the san francisco-marin food bank. these boxes are being loaded up and sent out to those in need.sot they tell you who is going to get the boxes and in this case seniors and added

( marty ) for the first time in three years -- the oldest and largest sequoia trees in the world. the mariposa grove at yosemite national park in california will reopened to the public on friday. the trees have been growing in the area for about 2-thousand years, but constant traffic put them at risk. so the park spent 40 million dollars into renovations to protect the trees. many of the changes restore the area to its natural form by removing parking lots and pavement. ( marty ) a humane society in southern california has its hands full, with a larger- than-average lost pet.
