(vicki) more now on that controversial cket the first lady wore today... the $39-dollar zara jacket had white graffiti lettering on the back reading "i really don't care. do u?" melania trump wasn't wearing the jacket when she landed in mcallen, texas to tour the facility. but she put it on again as she deplaned back at andrews air force base after the trip. her team insisted the jacket didn't have any hidden message.

president donald trump followed up on twitter later saying the jacket quote "refers to the fake news media" and that the first lady "no longer cares." (grant) and senator dianne feinstein released a statement today on the president's executive order. it reads in part... "we're not a country that rips nursing babies from their mothers. and we're not a country that puts dozens of children in cages with thin mats and aluminum blankets." "yesterday i believed the president finally recognized that his policy was untenable and unsustainable. however, upon reading the language of the executive order as well as the comments from his agencies, i am deeply concerned to learn that the humanitarian crisis is not over." (grant) happening now - a warning from police... after a young woman escaped a kidnapping attempt. it

happened in broad daylight yesterday...not far from san francisco's pier 39. kron4's maureen kelly explains how the victim was able to get away. (pkgpolice say the brazen attack happened here as the victim was walking home, headed westbound on bay street just past kearny.it was 430 in the afternoon wednesday....w hen the 21 one year female victim was approached by the male suspect who got out a parked sedan. police say the stranger demanded the woman come with him, and threatened to kill her if she didn't comply. at first she backed away, but then he pulled out a handgun so she got in the car. he drove off.....but a few blocks away on the corner of stockton and francisco his phone buzzed. he stopped the car....and she got out ran home and called for help. this area is just blocks away from the popular tourist attraction pier 39. some who live and work around here are rattled by this crime. it's pretty scary that happened on our street and i work right here and i walked on the street all the time so it's pretty scary that it happened just in broad daylight it is safe it is safe i've been here 40 years and i know there are some bad people there are some bad people in the bay area i'm just glad she was able i'm just glad she was able to get away from the bad guy but others say this

street....which is bordered by the north point water pollution control plant on both sides of the street is a magnet for crime....since there is every little interface between the municipal buildings and the sidewalks. every day when i walk at lunchtime when there's 4five piles of glass where people have broken into cars it's amazing here there's homeless people that live over there you see them coming with backpacks yo you wonder what the hell they're caring and people are parked here so i don't look like their uber drivers some of them do look kind of shady so this is a funny type neighborhood they need more police in here police says is encouraging anyone with information on this crime to call or text their anonymous tip line....that information has been posted to our website, kron4-dot com. maureen kelly kron4 news. (vicki) new at 5. state auditors are faulting the university of california...for not addressing sexual misconduct complaints on time. auditors reviewed how u.c. campuses in berkeley...los

angeles...and davis handled complaints. the report released today... found some people accused of misconduct...continued to sexually harass people after they were disciplined ineffectively. they also found the u.c. system is slower to disciple faculty and staff. u.c. president janet napolitano says the system is working to improve it's complaint process. (grant) in the east bay tonight... police have arrested two men in connection to a deadly stabbing in san leandro. the stabbing happened on tuesday night at the washington plaza shopping center on east 14th street. police say four men got into a fight-- one of the men was stabbed and killed. another man is in critical condition. two 23-year- old men were arrested at their homes in alameda and oakland yesterday. police have not yet said a motive for the fight. (grant) a big story we're tracking. anti-gay flyers posted on the peninsula have people outraged....as the bay area celebrates pride week. this is happening in palo alto. the flyers were posted at several different locations including the

library and public parks. the flyer has a picture showing a display of pride-themed books along with a man and three children. it then says... "part of what a father does is to protect his children...someone is trying to seduce your kids sexually...this is happening here, now." it then says the books are poison for children. we talked to people in the area...who say they aren't taking these flyers seriously.

sure everyone has a safe pride weekend. people who plan to attend can text a number to receive emergency alerts. just text "pride-s-f" to 888-777 to receive those alerts. city officials are also asking people participating in the festivities to always be aware of their surroundings. (vicki) in the south bay. a man is recovering tonight... after his car fell off a cliff and into a tree.

the incident happened last night in the santa cruz mountains. there a 60- year-old driver plunged into a nearly 50 foot embankment near locust and aldercroft heights authorities say the driver is lucky to be alive...and that the tree actually saved his life...by helping break the long fall. he was rushed to the hospital with moderate injuries.... and has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
