( robin )in the north bay... a man is behind bars this morning for shooting at officers. the incident happened just after 5 o'clock thursday... at veteran's park

in downtown napa. police say they responded to call of a gun on the ground. when they arrived they found an armed man. additional officers were called in for backup... that is when police say the suspect fired his weapon at officers. two officers hit the suspect with bean bag rounds. the suspect was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and was then taken into custody. none of the officers was hurt. ( robin )another big story we're following this morning. more than 40 years after a string of murders in san francisco, the s-f-p-d's cold case team is working to solve a familiar case. kron 4's ali reid has the story. it appears the suspect targeted gay, white men.a handful of victims were found dead .... and police believe a couple of men that survived similar attacks ... were targeted by the same man.in the mid 1970's .... police found 4 dead bodies on ocean beach ... and one in golden gate park. they believe all 5 men were victims from the same suspect. the case went cold, but now sfpd is back on track. we're going back trying to locate victims, potential

witnessesthere were an additional 3 men that survived violent attacks. authorities won't go into details about how the men were hurt, or if a weapon was used ... but they have reason to believe there may be a connection.we have not established a definite connection. but we're actively working those cases to locate the suspect, get justice for the victimsat least one victim recounted meeting the suspect in an all night diner in the city.and talking to the suspect who claimed he was a cartoon artist. that's how we dubbed the crime series as the doodlera suspect that matched the description was detained in 1976 but was never charged. the case is now back in the spotlight, after the golden state killer case led to joseph deangelo's arrest back in april. his d-n-a has been linked to robberies, rapes, and murders between the 1970's and 80's. investigators are hoping dna may also help this case.see if there's any clothing or any kind of material that would contain dna and submit that for dna analysis.standupbased on the

1970's sketch, an age progression was done. but police aren't quite ready to release it just yet. they wt to ensure all leads are exhausted before asking for the public help.reportng live in san reid ... kron 4 news. ( robin )a quiet san jose neighborhood... became a crime scene after a man was shot dead inside his own home. the shooting happened around 1-30 yesterday afternoon on misty glen court near brodie drive. this is video of the scene. neighbors say they saw police trying to resuscitate the man on his front lawn. he died at the scene. people who live in this neighborhood say that situations like this are not common. < neighbor: "we've been here for twenty years, this is the first time that it has happened here. it's really a quiet neighborhood, my kids play around here. we've never heard any troubles like this" neighbor: "what i saw was police helicopters all around the area and i believe there was a dead body in the evergreen area.".">( robin )( robin ) it's not clear what the motive

was for this shooting. at last check... no arrests have been made. ( robin )police are investigating an abduction of a young woman. it happened wednesday afternoon... not far from san francisco's pier 39. luckily the victim escaped. kron4's maureen kelly talked to neighbors who say they aren't surprised by the daylight kidnapping... calling the street where it happened... a magnet for crime. (pkgit's pretty scary that it happened just in broad daylight police say the brazen attack happened here as the victim was walking home, headed westbound on bay street just past kearny.it was 430 in the afternoon wednesday....w hen the 21 one year female victim was approached by the male suspect who got out a parked sedan. police say the stranger demanded the woman come with him, and threatened to kill her if she didn't comply. at first she backed away, but then he pulled out a handgun so she got in the car. he drove off.....but a few blocks away on the corner of stockton and francisco his phone buzzed. he stopped the car....and she got out ran home and called for help. this area is just blocks away from

the popular tourist attraction pier 39. some who live and work around here are rattled by this crime.constantly as a woman i feel always on guard and it's not a cool feeling generally it happens in the evening but to know that now i have to be on guard in the middle of the day that kind of really sucks but others say this street....which is bordered by the north point water pollution control plant on both sides of the street is a crime hotspot....since there is every little interface between the municipal buildings and the sidewalks. they point to daily evidence of multiple car break ins and homeless encampments next to the buidlings. it's sunny here how much would it cost them to install solar cameras on the state or city buildings because this is where the crime happens they must be police reports because people are reporting it all the time look at these buildings they could have solar cameras to see all the stuff that's happening the sf puc says surveillance cameras are on the way for this location both for security and to protect the facility....as part an upgrade under the sewer system improvement program. maureen kelly kron4 news. morning... after days of bipartisan backlash... president trump has signed an executive order ending the seperation of families illegally crossing into the united states. but with the change in policy.... comes more questions regarding the more than two thousand children already in custody at detention centers. ( robin )here at home.... a local group of mothers are headed to a texas detention center... with loads of clothing and toys for the families being held there. those mom's spoke with kron 4's hermela aregawi... about what compelled them to get on a flight... and help out. (hermela aregawi)they tell me what they really want to do is actually go into those detention centers and give these kids a hug.. show them some love and care. but because they can't do that.. they are getting as close as they can by just showing up. they're calling themselves the mcallen 12..after the detention center in texas that is housing children of immigrant families seeking asylumpatti pascoe/organizer we're all moms and we just felt so bad for the people and the children. the parents getting separated from the children. the children putting

into these centers without their familes. and so a group of us wanted to help out with what the kids might need with what the parents might need because we felt so bad for them so the group of mostly moms collected clothes and toys for the parents and children held at detention centers.. and are headed to mcallen texas to hand-deliver them.all 18 bags full. they are flying on united.. and couldn't get assistance paying for the bags.. so they raised money to make that happen... an effor they say had broad support.lia turk/organizereveryone is supporting the effort and everyone is distraught and upset and feeling the traume that the families are feeling. the women tell me. this photo of a little girl crying while her mother is processed in mcallen.. is heartbreaking.. and the idea of so many children in the same position literally keeps them up at night.lilli rey/organizer everyone who has a heart has seen a child like that whether they birthed them or their sister did, or their next door neighbor did. that they were able to throw their arms around that kid and say, i got you. and i'm going to feed you and i'm going to love you because that's what you deserve being on this planet. so we can't do that but we're going to come as close as we can by going there and showing

( robin )a big story this morning... two san francisco contruction workers say they were fired from their job site... for bringing claims of racial discrimination to their employer. they're now issuing a lawsuit. kron4's haziq madyun has the story.... we want to warn you - some viewers may find some of the images disturbing.

harassment claim against clark construction group: "the day i started working there i saw racial slurs all over the windows, the toilets, even when you go to wash your hands you got to read something with negativity">here is a photo allegedy from the construction site containing a death threat. russell says both men filed several complaints regarding these types of incidents to their supervisors sot the harassment reached a boiling point when ogans saw the dolls hanging. he called the san francisco police department made an official report. an sfpd spokesperson told me the incident is currently under investigation by their hate crimes unita representive from clark construction group sent kron4 a statement regarding these allegations which reads in part: "when clark was made aware of incidents on the 250 howard street job site, we swiftly notified law enforcement and have cooperated with both bigge

( robin ) in the east bay... commuters along i-80 in emeryville may have spotted an unusual sign yesterday. that's after vandals altered a "got junk" billboard hoping to send a message to president donald trump. kron 4's charles clifford has details. well, the billboard

in question has made quite the stir on thursday and the people responsible are claiming credit. they also made a video about it.nats overnight between wedneday and thursday, members of the annoymous group indicline, vandalized this billboard along shellmond street in emeryville. what was a 1800 got junk billboard that said "we make junk dissapaer" was turned into a sign the read " we make kids dissappear". a quote then attricuted sarcastically to ice, or the u.s. immigraion and customs enforcement. indicline also recorded the entire caper and posted this video online.on thursday afternoon, kron 4 reached out to indicline for comment, but they declined our request for an on camera interview. the group did release a statement saying, "this project is in direct response to president trump's dedication to inhuman and blatantly racist practices and policies surrounding immigration, specifically, his willingness to inflict trauma on young children and families under the his banner of xenophobia."this is apparently not the first time indicline has tried to send a message to

president trump. the groups also claims responsiblity for the nake trump statues that popped up around the country back in 2016. one of which was displayed in san francisco. back in emeryville, the vandalized billboard was removed by thursday afternoon.finally, it's unclear if the perpatrators will face any sort of penalty for vandalizing the sign. in emeryville, charles clifford kron 4 news. ( robin )demonstrators continue to take to the streets... over whats happening to asylum seekers at the u-s mexico border. during thursday's commute, more than 100 demonstrators lined ygnacio valley road in walnut creek. they say parents and children should never be separated and the president's executive order does little for those already separated. continue to protest unti there is signficant change... to the administrations policy. ( robin ) also happening in the east bay... police are warning people about a scam in walnut creek. they say there is an uptick in recent phone scams... from people saying they're with the i-r-s and f-b-i. officers say in almost every case, the caller tells the victim they owe money, or there is a warrant out for their arrest. the callers will also request gift cards as a payment. officers are reminding people these calls are never legitimate... and never give your personal banking information over the phone. ( robin )the death of a great white shark has now turned into a criminal investigation in santa cruz county. the carcass of a nearly 500-pound shark was found sunday on beer can beach in aptos. experts said the shark appeared healthy except for what might have been gashes and scars made by its prey, sea lions. but... the department of fish and game

says it's launched a criminal probe based on results of a necropsy. those results were ánot released. great whites are a protected species under both state and federal law. learn who stole thousands of dollars worth of baseball equipment... from an oakland volunteer baseball league. but... people are stepping up, to help replace all the missing equipment. kron 4's justine waldman has the story. nat they cut all of them and pulled everything outsomething seemed foul to paul mankin when he arrived to volunteer on the diamond at rickey henderson field in temescal tuesday morning to get it ready for little league games... the sight of a hole in the fence and sawed off locks, and made his heart sink.

sot it looked like they were here for almost 7 hours going through our containers and figuring out what is is they wanted to take and put it all together and hauled it out in one big haulthe thieves took almost $15,000 worth of baseball and soccer equipment from storage units.anything from cleats to uniforms to law mowers and the remote for the scoreboard.it is a place that has served thousands of oakland kids over the last decade.sot stealing from kids and stealing from our community is just not going to workjustine waldman su since the theft, people have stepped up to the plate, and donated thousands of dollars. turning this negative situation into a positive one.sot it is not often you get to experience that generositya gofundme page has allowed regular people contribute.now the a's have donated $5,000 - with president dave kaval tweeting it is to help get the kids back on the fields.then came a $5,000 donation from wells fargo bank.and another $5,000

from honda of oakland.the donations are enough to replace what the thieves stole. sot this field has helped kids stay in school and graduate some of those kids went on to college we want to keep this going and it matters a lot to methe kindness has renew mankin's faith in people...now the volunteers will figure out how to improve security so the kids can play ball..in oakland justine waldman kron 4 news. (philippe) it's a tall task. putting these floats together every year for san francisco's annual pride parade. a challenge master float builder stephanie mufson says her crews always successfully complete... but not without a lot of hard work and dedication.stephanie mufson/master float builder- "it's going great. were really excited. um, you know, all of the floats are really starting to take shape -- we can really start to see what the parade is going to look like." mufson says the floats will stay here at pier 54 until the morning of the parade. in the meantime... crews are making the final adjustments to the floats that they've been working on for six weeks. stephanie mufson/master float builder- "but its really been about three weeks of solid hard work with a really large crew." and, an experienced crew... responsible not just for this parade... but all others in the city.stephanie

of harrison street in the mission district..that's just a few blocks away from zuckerburg san francisco general hospital. police tell kron4, officers found two victims. one died at the scene and the other is in the hospital with critical injuries. no one has been arrested. we have a crew on the way to the scene. kron 4's sara stinson is on her way to the scene. will get an update in a live as she gets ( james ) a big story this morning... it is a busy weekend here in the bay area with tens of thousands of people expected for two big events... which means getting around could cause you a traffic headache.( darya ) the biggest event is pride weekend in san francisco. the celebration kicks off tomorrow from noon to 6 p-m at the civic center plaza. and this morning crews are putting the finishing touches on the floats for sunday's pride parade.( james ) right now the floats are being staged at pier 54 in san francisco. they will stay there until the morning of the parade. this is something they have been working on for the last 6 weeks.

( james ) the parade starts at 10:30 sunday morning and good spot to watch the parade you need to get there early. ( darya ) and here is a look at the parade route for sunday. the parade will start at market and beale street and end at market and 8th street. ( james ) and this morning there are already road closures in the city that you need to know about. and more roads will be closing later this morning. right now... fulton street between hyde and larkin streets is closed. so is grove street between polk and larkin. doctor carlton-b goodlett place between mcallister and grove streets is also closed right now. and then beginning at 9:00 this morning... grove street between hyde street and van ness avenue will be closed...

( darya ) a man was arrested for shooting at

officers. the gunfire happened last night at veteran's park in downtown napa. police say they responded to call of a gun on the ground. when they arrived they found a man with a gun. additional officers were called to the scene... and that is when police say the man started shooting. two officers hit the man with bean bag rounds. he was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and was then taken into custody. none of the officers were hurt. a warning if you are planing on heading to santa cruz this weekend. the sheriff's office has issued a shark warning for the beach below the seascape resort. this is a picture posting a warning sign. they say several people saw a 10 foot shark swimming about 30 feet from the shore. deputies are asking people to be extra careful if they are in that area this weekend. emeryville may have spotted an unusual sign. vandals altered a "got junk" billboard hoping to send a message to president trump. kron 4's charles clifford has details. well, the billboard in question has made quite the stir on thursday and the people responsible are claiming credit. they also made a video about it.nats overnight between wedneday and thursday, members of the annoymous group indicline, vandalized this billboard along shellmond street in emeryville. what was a 1800 got junk billboard that said "we make junk dissapaer" was turned into a sign the read " we make kids dissappear". a quote then attricuted sarcastically to ice, or the u.s. immigraion and customs enforcement. indicline also recorded the entire caper and posted this video online.on thursday afternoon, kron 4 reached out to indicline for comment, but they declined our request for an on camera interview. the group did release a statement saying, "this project is in direct response to president trump's dedication to inhuman and blatantly racist practices and policies surrounding immigration, specifically, his willingness to inflict trauma on young children and families under the his banner of xenophobia."this is apparently not the first time indicline has tried to send a message to president trump. the groups

also claims responsiblity for the nake trump statues that popped up around the country back in 2016. one of which was displayed in san francisco. back in emeryville, the vandalized billboard was removed by thursday afternoon.finally, it's unclear if the perpatrators will face any sort of penalty for vandalizing the sign. in emeryville, charles clifford kron 4 news. ( darya ) two san francisco construction workers say they were fired from their job site... for bringing claims of racial discrimination to their employer. now they are filing a lawsuit. we want to warn you ...some of the images are disturbing. this is video of three black baby dolls hanging by their necks inside a portable toilet. the employees say it happened at clark construction group on howard street. the workers say

that wasn't all they found. they claim there were also racial slurs scrawled around the facility. ( darya ) a representive from clark construction group sent kron-4 a statement regarding these allegations. they say they notified police about the incident at the howard street location and are cooperating with the investigation. ( james ) happening now...san francisco police are searching for a violent kidnapper. the attack happened not far from pier 39...on bay street near kearny. the 21 year old woman was walking home... when she was approached by a man who got out of a car. he demanded the woman come with him... and threatened to kill her if she didn't. at first she backed away... but then he

pulled out a handgun so she got in the car. he drove off.....but a few blocks away... he stopped the car....and she got out ran home and called for help. she was not physically hurt. ( james ) in the east bay... a scam alert in walnut creek. police are warning residents of an uptick in recent phone scams from people saying they're with the i-r-s and f-b-i. officers say in almost every case-- the caller tells the victim they owe money-- or there is a warrant out for their arrest. the callers will also request gift cards as a payment. officers are reminding people these calls are never legitimate and never give your personal banking information over the ( james )( james ) ( james ) coming up on the kron 4 morning news...congress fails to address immigration reform last night but has scheduled a second vote. we'll check in on where things stand this morning.

a cyber security expert warns there are a few things you can do to protect your child. first... you can turn off the location services setting on your kid's phone. that will make the apps stop tracking your location. you can also buy the paid version of the app which usually means no ads - and less of a reason for advertisers to track you. and if possible play the games in airplane mode... which prevents the phone from transmitting any information. ( james ) happening now... police in santa rosa are looking for this man... who robbed a domino's pizza at gunpoint. he told the employees to open the register... and he took the cash. police believe that he is the same person who robbed a round table pizza earlier this month... also in santa rosa. ( darya ) this morning a man is in the hospital with life threatening injuries after a knife fight in san francisco. it happened on the 900 block of geneva avenue. police say 2 men got into an argument that escalated and both men ended up pulling out knives. one of the men stabbed the other 4 times. police were able to track that man down and arrest him. ( darya ) in the east bay... police have arrested two men in connection to a deadly stabbing in san leandro. we covered this as breaking news on wednesday morning. the stabbing happened late tuesday night at the washington plaza shopping

center on east 14th street. police say four men got into a fight-- one of the men was stabbed and killed. another man is in critical condition. two men were arrested at their homes in alameda and oakland. ( james ) people are now stepping up to help after thousands of dollars worth of sports equipment was stolen from an oakland volunteer league. the thieves took almost 15-thousand dollars worth of baseball and soccer equipment from storage units. they took everything from cleats to uniforms to lawn mowers and the remote for the scoreboard. since the theft... the oakland a's have donated five grand. then came a five-thousand dollar donation from wells fargo. and another five-thousand from honda of oakland. combined, the donations are enough to replace what the thieves stole. ( james ) police in fairfield arrest two people after an attempted carjacking. police say this man... isaiah taylor and a 16-year- old tried to carjack 4 people as they sat inside their car on wilson street. police

say one of the two suspects pulled out a gun and shot the driver... then both took off running. the investigation eventually lead police to taylor. the driver who was shot is expected to be okay. ( james ) state auditors are faulting the university of california... for not addressing sexual misconduct complaints on time. auditors reviewed how u-c campuses in berkeley...los angeles...and davis handled complaints. the report found some people accused of misconduct... continued to sexually harass people even after they were disciplined. they also found the u.c. system is slower to discipline faculty and staff. u.c. president janet napolitano says the system is working to improve it's complaint process. (lydia) the earthquakes were centered here in oakley....in this area is a school district and a few homes.people in antioch also reported feeling intense shaking.the quakes started around 10:00 p.m. the fourth one was the strongest. it struck at 12:41 a.m. with a 3.4 magnitude. the depth of the shake was at 13-kilometers. there was no initial word on damage or injury resulting from the quakes.reporting live in oakley, lydia pantazes kron 4 news. b thanks lydia. thanks thanks

( darya ) other big stories we are following out of the south bay... a man is shot and killed inside his own home. the shooting happened yesterday afternoon on misty glen court near brodie drive. this is video from the scene. the shooter is still on the loose. police are still trying to figure out what motivated the attack. ( darya ) a man was arrested for shooting at officers. the gunfire happened last night at veteran's park in downtown napa. police say they responded to call of a gun on the ground. when they arrived they found a man with a gun. additional officers were called to the scene... and that is when police say the man started shooting. two officers hit the man with bean bag rounds. he was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and was then taken into custody. none of the officers were hurt. ( james ) happening now...san francisco police are searching for a violent kidnapper. the attack happened not far from pier

39...on bay street near kearny. the 21 year old woman was walking home... when she was approached by a man who got out of a car. he demanded the woman come with him... and threatened to kill her if she didn't. at first she backed away... but then he pulled out a handgun so she got in the car. he drove off.....but a few blocks away... he stopped the car....and she got out ran home and called for help. she was not physically hurt. ( james ) a big story this morning... it is a busy weekend here in the bay area with tens of thousands of people expected for two big events... which means getting around could cause you a traffic headache.( darya ) the biggest event is pride weekend in san francisco. the celebration kicks off tomorrow from noon to 6 p-m at the civic center plaza. and this morning crews are putting the finishing touches on the floats for sunday's pride parade.( james ) right now the floats are being staged at pier 54 in san francisco. they will stay there until the morning of the parade. this is something they have been working on for

the last 6 weeks. ( james ) the parade starts at 10:30 sunday morning and organizers say if you want a good spot to watch the parade you need to get there early. francisco construction workers say they were fired from their job site... for bringing claims of racial discrimination to their employer. now they are filing a lawsuit. we want to warn you ...some of the images are disturbing. this is video of three black baby dolls hanging by their necks inside a portable toilet. the employees say it happened at clark construction group on howard street. the workers say that wasn't all they found. they claim there were also racial slurs scrawled around the facility. regarding these allegations. they say they notified police about the incident at the howard street location and are cooperating with the investigation. ( james ) in national news... protestors took over a highway in pittsburg, pennsylvania overnight...cal ling for justice after a police officer shot and killed 17-year-old antwon rose earlier this week.( darya ) rose was shot in the back while he was running away. andrew spencer has the latest. into the overnight hours, protesters blocked interstate-376 just east of pittsburgh......protesting the killing of 17-year-old antwon rose by a police officer on tuesday.christian carter, demonstrator: "it's affecting us right here at home, and it's important for us to occupy our spaces, and occupy, and know that we are shutting it down if we don't get justice."the protests started hours earlier. the demonstrations were peaceful -- as people gathered to make their voices heard, calling for justice and blocking streets to ensure that news of rose's death did not go unnoticed.protesters: "antwon! antwon! antwon!"video posted

( darya ) in the east bay... police have arrested two men in connection to a deadly stabbing in san leandro. we covered this as breaking news on wednesday morning. the stabbing happened late tuesday night at the washington plaza shopping center on east 14th street. police say four men got into a fight-- one of the men was stabbed and killed. another man is in critical condition. two men were arrested at their homes in alameda and oakland. isaiah taylor and a 16-year- old tried to carjack 4 people as they sat inside their car on wilson street. police say one of the two suspects pulled out a gun and shot the driver... then both took off running. the investigation eventually lead police to taylor. the driver who was shot is expected to be okay.
