these are some of the high temperatures expected for tomorrow. get ready for triple digit temperatures in parts of the east bay and the north bay. good evening i'm grant lodes. (vicki) and i'm vicki liviakis. tonight - we're taking a closer look at some of the hot weather dangers you need to be aware of... but first - let's check in with chief meteorologist lawrence karnow.. lawrence breakdown where it will be the hottest - and where the fire danger is greatest. ... lawrence karnow: it was a hot day for much of the bay area as highs soared into the 100s inland. it will be a very warm evening and slow to cool for many of the valleys. on the satellite high pressure is building over california. the combination of strong high pressure and offshore winds will increas fire danger. a red flag warning is posted for the east and north bay hills this weekend. a heat advisory is up for the entire bay area expect the coast and san francisco for tomorrow. highs on saturday will be in the 90s to low 100s inland, 80s and 90s around the bay and 60s and 70s at the coast. it will cool slightly on sunday but remain hot inland. patchy fog will return to the coast to bring down the temperatures. more low clouds and fog will move

burning through dry vegetation and leaping into trees. this fire - at los medanos community college. crews with the contra costa fire protection district on scene quickly. ryan bain, contra costa fire protection district. this is what we have been concerned about. it was just an hour earlier, when i with with crews on another spot fire on the side of highway 4. ryan bain says they are on full staff this weekend. with hot tempertures predicted, and dry conditions... like here on kirker pass road... fire fighters say they have mounting concerns. bain. we want to encourage everyone to be careful.also a real worry, illegal fireworks... fourth of july, is just around the corner... fireworks of any kind are are not allowed in contra costa county... bain. don't do it.. they are not ok. and can start fires.

(grant) another concern during the hot weather is how hot it can get inside a car-- and parents forgetting their kids inside. a northern california todder is dead after suffering heat stroke when his mother left the boy inside a car for nearly 10 hours. kron4's maureen kelly talked to the c-h-p about how parents need to stay

mindful. 23 year old alexandrea raven scott of trinidad is being held with out bail after being arrested on suspicion of willfully causing or permitting a child to suffer great bodily injury or death. the mendocino county sheriff says the young mother left her 18 month old son inside a her car for 10 hours while visiting a friend in willits. they were called to the scene after 1:30 wednesday afternoon. by that time the tempature outside the car was 80 degrees.the website noheatstroke-dot-org says it's the first child vehicular heatstroke so far this year in the state. heartbreaking i have three kids i couldn't imagine putting my kids in that situation i could don't know what's going through peoples minds i don't think they mean the worst but i think that people underestimate what he can do to people and as tempatures around the bay are expected to heat up....local law enforcement ask that parents be mindful of their little ones.. if you're if it's outside it's 800 after sometime 2030 minutes inside of the car can go to 130 so people don't think about that (maureen)outside this temperature guage on my smart

(2-shot/vicki) what is up with all these sharks showing up in santa cruz? warning signs are up after yet another confirmed shark sighting.(2-shot/grant) this comes after a dead great white shark washed ashore last weekend...not far from where dozens of young great whites sqimming...have been regularly spotted from above.(double box) kron four's rob fladeboe joins us now live fm aptos with more on the story. rob? driver could face charges after the self-driving vehicle she was operating was involved in a fatal march accident. uber put out a video showing backup driver rafaela vasquez during the ride. and an investigation revealed-- she was streaming an episode of "the voice" right before the crash. police have now released body-cam footage showing the immediate aftermath of the crash. it includes conversations between officers that may shed new light on the case. kim tobin has the story for us. natsot officer: "you all right?" natsot vasquez: "yeah. i'm just shaken up. just shaken."natsot officer: "just shaken?"that's rafaela vasquez... the backup driver in the self driving uber. vasquez: "is the person okay?" office: "yeah.... they will be taken to the hospital right now."but elaine herzberg was killed... as she was walking

her bike across mill avenue-- outside a cross walk. according to police... the uber made no attempt to stop before it was too late. officer: so what exactly happened?"vasquez: "the car was in auto drive... and all of a sudden, i didn't see it. the car didn't see it. and all of a sudden it was just there. shot out in front and then i think - i know i hit them."in the video released before-- by uber... we see vasquez looking down for a few seconds at a time... but we don't know if it has something to do with the program... or something (vicki) that was kim tobin reporting. the tempe, arizona police department says vasquez could face vehicular manslaughter charges. uber says it has a strict policy prohibiting mobile device

usage for anyone operating a self-driving vehicle... and it's conducting its own safety review. (grant) eight passengers are suing southwest airlines over the mid-air engine failure that left a woman dead in april. jennifer riordan was nearly sucked all the way out of the plane when debris from the engine broke a window next to her during the flight. she was pulled back in but later died at the hospital. investigators found that a fan blade was missing from the engine that failed. according to the suit -- plaintiffs cited injuries including hearing loss and post hearing loss and post traumatic stress disorder. after the incident...southwest gave all 144 passengers 5-thousand dollars... a 1- thousand dollar credit toward southwest airfare, and transportation to their final destination. southwest declined to comment on the suit. (vicki) in the east bay... at least five earthquakes rattle the east bay in the overnight hours. the biggest one was a 3- point-4 magnitude. kron 4's lydia pantazes tells us where they happened. the earthquakes were centered here in oakley....in this area is a school district and a few homes.people in antioch also reported feeling intense shaking.the quakes started

around 10:00 p.m. the fourth one was the strongest. it struck at 12:41 a.m. with a 3.4 magnitude. the depth of the shake was at 13-kilometers. there was no initial word on damage or injury resulting from the quakes.reporting live in oakley, lydia pantazes kron 4 news. news. pantazes kron 4 news. the scene. relatives of the victim say the man was a father in his 50's... and used to be a doctor in vietnam. they say he was living at the home with his wive and three teenage kids. police do not have a detailed description of the gunman--- and they are still trying to figure out what motivated the shooting. (vicki) in the north bay... a man was arrested for shooting at officers at veterans park in downtown napa. police say they responded to call of a gun on the ground last night. when they arrived they found a man with a gun... and he started shooting. two officers hit the man with bean bag rounds. he was taken to the hospital for minor injuries and was then taken into custody. none of the officers were hurt. (grant) happening now... police in san francisco are looking for the gunman in a double shooting. it happened early this morning in the mission district. one person was killed. kron 4's sara stinson has the details. the intersection of 24th and harrison street is now open after sf police spent over four hours investigating the

double shooting which is now being called a homicide. one person is dead and another general with life threatening injuries.sf police first received the shots fired block of harrison street at 2:30 in the morning.when police arrived they located the two victims.they tried to save the life of one, but that person died on scene.while the other person was sent to sf life threatening injuries. police have been looking at surveillance cameras in the area in effort suspect. people i spoke to in the area disappointed as they feel this area has been getting better. sf general was not able to confirm if the person in critical consitjon is a man or woman. police say they are still looking for a suspect. in the mission district, sara stinson kron 4 news.### (vicki) a toxicology report has been completed in the death of anthony bourdain...(grant) catherine heenan is here with details on what it

(catherine) the report says the celebrity chef had no narcotics in his system when he died... that's the word from a french judicial official today.. the 61-year-old was a recovering addict who was candid about his abuse of cocaine and heroin in the past.. his death june 8th shook fans across the world. police ruled it a suicide by hanging.. the only question left was whether he had any substances in his body. french officials said there were none - except for a trace of a non-narcotic medicine in a therapeutic dose. bourdain was found dead in his hotel room in a french village...where he'd been filming an upcoming episode of his tv show - 'parts unknown.' grant and vicki? police are still trying to learn who stole thousands of dollars worth of baseball equipment... from an oakland volunteer baseball league. but... people are stepping up, to help replace all the missing equipment. kron 4's justine waldman has the story. nat they cut all of them and pulled everything outsomething seemed foul to paul mankin when he arrived to volunteer on the diamond at rickey henderson field in temescal tuesday morning to get it ready for little league games... the sight of a hole in the fence and sawed off locks, and made his heart sink. sot it looked like they were here for almost 7 hours going through our containers and

( vicki ) for your health tonight... four cups of coffee a day could actually be good for your heart. that's according to a new study published in a science joural. the research says the amount of coffee could start a process that helps protect heart cells from damage. researchers studied the effect of caffeine on a specific protein in cardiovascular cell functions. they found that the equivalent of four espresso shots was sufficient to help guard against cell death. they also found that coffee helps the heart to recover after a heart attack. ( grant @ landing ) take a look at this... thousands of barrels of bourbon went tumbling down a hillside in kentucky this morning....after the partial collapse of the barton 17-92 distillery warehouse. an official says the warehouse holds about 20-thousand barrels, but only nine- thousand were affected by the collapse. no injuries were reported. officials were

working to determine if any of the liquor spilled out. the e-p-a was called in as a precaution, as there is a creek nearby. according to c-n-n, water samples were taken in the area and came back clean. ( grant ) meanwhile over in china, a large truck catches fire and is engulfed in flames. this happened in a construction zone. reports say people had to yell at the driver and passenger to run out of the truck as they didn't even notice the flames.. fortunately, neither were injured and they made it out safe. the cause of the fire is yet to be determined. shots was enough to help guard against cell death. researchers also found that coffee helps the heart to recover after a heart attack. as for alcohol.... a study says if you limit yourself to no more than three drinks a week - you might actually have a lower risk of dying or developing cancer.......than people who 'never' drink. it's not clear why - and some argue that light drinkers tend to be more health conscious in the first place. still...doctors say don't forget that heavy drinkers still have the highest risk for death and cancer.. lawrence karnow: it was a hot day for much of the bay area as highs soared into the 100s inland. it will be a very warm evening and slow to cool for many of the valleys. on the

satellite high pressure is building over california. the combination of strong high pressure and offshore winds will increas fire danger. a red flag warning is posted for the east and north bay hills this weekend. a heat advisory is up for the entire bay area expect the coast and san francisco for tomorrow. highs on saturday will be in the 90s to low 100s inland, 80s and 90s around the bay and 60s and 70s at the coast. it will cool slightly on sunday but remain hot inland. patchy fog will return to the coast to bring down the temperatures. more low clouds and fog will move in on monday and further cool the weather into the middle of the week. another round of hot weather is possible next weekend. next on dog: seresto, seresto, seresto.
