following this morning. a california judge ordered u-s border authorities to reunite separated families at the southern border within 30 days. if the children are younger than five... they must be reunified within 14 days of the order. u-s district judge dana sabraw in san diego.. also issued a nationwide injunction on future family separations... unless the parent is deemed unfit. more than two- thousand children have been separated from their parents in recent weeks... and placed in governmentt- contracted shelters. ( robin )over in the east bay... a former naval weapons base... could soon be used as an immigrant detention center. kron 4's ali reid has the story from concord... where protestors rallied against the issue. pkg from the concord bart station ... to city hall .... im here to support the city councils resistance to it people are speaking out against a proposed detention camp here in concord.jesse

( robin )the u.s. supreme court ruled 5-to-4... that presiden't trump's travel restrictions on people from seven countries will stay in effect. the policy restricts people from iran, north korea, syria, libya, yemen, somalia ... and certain venezuelan government officials... from entering into the u-s. this travel ban is different from the first travel ban issued in january of 20-17... because of protests and lawsuits. the trump administration released the most recent version of the travel ban in september of last year. in december, the supreme court allowed this newest version to take effect pending appeal. correctional officer is recovering form injuries sustained during an attack by an inmate at san quentin state prison. on monday inmate jesus pina was being escorted by a correctional officer from a medical appointment to his cell when he attacked the officer.. striking him multiple times in the face. the officer used physical force to attempt to stop the attack but pina grabbed the officer and tried to pull him into his cell. the officer was able to escape form pina.. secure the cell and activate the alarm. the officer was taken to an outside hospital for his injuries and is expected to make a full recovery. ( robin ) the san francisco board of supervisors unaimously voted to elect supervisor malia cohen to become the new president of the board of supervisors. cohen was first elected in 20-10 as district 10 supervisor and then re-elected to that postion in 20-14.. the position she's held since then. she's credited with authoring separate legislation that banned the sale of flavored tobacco and sugary

the girl's mother took this video... which includes ettel's claim, that she was calling police. ettel says, she wants the world to know that she is sorry. she also says, her initial complaint was about noise. ettel claims she could not concentre on getting her work done... and had asked the mother if they could keep it down. deputies nearly overdosed on a highly lethal drug over the weekend. they came across the synthetic opiod fentanyl... during an operation in hayward. kron4's ella sogomonian has the story. seargent ray kelly says a detective and sergeant with the alameda county sheriff's office were exposed to the lethal drug fentanyl while serving a search warrant at a hayward motel on friday.sot: sgt. ray kelly, alameda county sheriff's office// "he began to have respirotry distress and at one point he completely went unconsious, his eyes rolled back in his head and he began to stop breathing and his lips turned blue. his sergeant that works with us immediately recognized signs of what could be a potential overdose or exposure."the center for disease control reports nearly 10 thousand people died of a synthetic opiod overdose in 2015. with fentanyl making it's way across america at a rapid...and lethal rate... the alameda county sheriff's office rolled out a program almost two years ago requiring that deputies carry the life-saving nasal spray known

as narcan....but while the sergeant used two doses to treat the detective he was exposed and fell ill.sgt. kelly says both survived thanks to the training and antidote.sot: sgt. ray kelly, alameda county sheriff's office// "it's just a matter of time before it happens to another agency within the bay area. so when you do a threat assessment and risk analysis it's going to happen to your department so you need to get ahead of the curve on this and purchase narcan for your officers and first responders." the drug enforcement administration reports this amount 2-3 milligrams of fentanyl compared to the size of a penny can kill.fentanyl can be packaged as a pill, capsule, liquid or powder which when airborne becomes an immediate risk.sgt. kelly says one dose of narcan costs $35 and hopes to see more made available to first responders. in alameda county ella sogomonian kron 4 news. ( robin )california lawmakers will get raises for the sixth straight year. governor jerry brown's salary will top two hundred thousand dollars just before he leaves office.

tuesday a citizen board approved a three percent pay bump for brown, state lawmakers and other elected officials. the attorney general, controller, treasurer, secretary of state, superintendent of public instruction and insurance commissioner will also get raises. the new salaries take effect in december. ( robin )the u.s. supreme court sided with faith- based pregnancy centers in california tuesday.... saying anti-abortion pregnancy centers do not have to inform women about family planning services including abortion... which had been california law. religious affiliated pregnancy centers says.. the law forced them to deliver a message that was in direct conflict with their mission. the court did not strike down the entire california law. it sent the case back to the lower courts.... with instructions that enforcement of key provisions be blocked... while the legal challenge continues. ( robin ) a federal judge in san francisco has dismissed

climate change lawsuits filed by oakland and san francisco against five oil companies. the two cities claimed san ramon-based chevron and four other companies created a public nuisance by producing and promoting oil and natural gas fuels while knowing that they lead to global warming and sea level rise. the lawsuit asked for money to build sewalls and other protections from rising seas. the judge ruled the problem is best left to the president and congress. ( robin )several children reportedly became sick... after playing at a brentwood waterpark. contra costa health services department shut down the water feature at blue goose water park. the county received a report .. that four children who played at the water park on june 11th ... had stomach problems. that prompted health services to perform a recreational health inspection there. the inspection found a non- functioning ultra violet, light - water purification system. parents expresssed concern - but say they trust the city is doing the

i try to follow the actual rules i guess, i've had enough close calls if i actually try and do what i need what it tell me to do then i might not diewait a bicyclist following the rules (hahaha do my best yea) at the intersection of market and valencia in san francisco sits two traffic signals designed just for cyclist.if you watch for a just a short time you will see bicyclist use the bike signals correctly however in a shorter time you will see this (traffic sounds) cyclist cutting into the lanes of traffic and blowing the red light altogether avoid the bicycle light and this happens more times than i can count. watching this i talked to bicyclist who have done it the right way i asked one cyclist why riders were doing that because they can, you not denied going out there they put this here with the green stripping for increased safety this is specifically for bikers but the bikers can still over there ok so let's look at the facts. about 100 feet from the intersection is this black and white sign telling (not advising) telling bicyclist how to use the lane the mk stands for market street and the val stands for valencia and a 100 feet away are two more black and white signs reading valencia use bike signal these signs are commands meaning they are mandatory otherwise the red traffic light would simply be a suggestion so what you have is are bicyclist running the red light and not just here but often the next intersection too well bikers can be kind of hard core ans we kind of do it the way we want to do it did i mention, the bicycle coalition's office is right outside this particular intersection but don't worry it's not just bicyclist, apparently this red light is just a suggestion . and turns from no turn lanes

( robin ) in the south bay... a plan to revive the vallco mall in cupertino... is one step closer to reality. as kron 4's rob fladeboe explains, this project is also a push to ease the bay area housing crunch. built in the 70's and once a marquis destination for silcon valley shoppers, the sprawling vallco shopping mall is now home to just a handful of businesses, it's glory days long since gone. but now, ownersandhill properties is proposing a massive housing project with 1-point-8 million square feet of office space and 400,000 square feet of retail the project would include 24-hundred housing units,50-percent of which

bay... 2 alameda county sheriff's deputies... nearly overdosed on a highly lethal drug.( james ) they came in contact with fentanyl... during an operation in hayward. kron 4's ella sogomonian has the story. seargent ray kelly says a detective and sergeant with the alameda county sheriff's office were exposed to the lethal drug fentanyl while serving a search warrant at a hayward motel on friday.sot: sgt. ray kelly, alameda county sheriff's office// "he began to have respirotry distress and at one point he completely

went unconsious, his eyes rolled back in his head and he began to stop breathing and his lips turned blue. his sergeant that works with us immediately recognized signs of what could be a potential overdose or exposure."the center for disease control reports nearly 10 thousand people died of a synthetic opiod overdose in 2015. with fentanyl making it's way across america at a rapid...and lethal rate... the alameda county sheriff's office rolled out a program almost two years ago requiring that deputies carry the life-saving nasal spray known as narcan....but while the sergeant used two doses to treat the detective he was exposed and fell ill.sgt. kelly says both survived thanks to the training and antidote.sot: sgt. ray kelly, alameda county sheriff's office// "it's just a matter of time before it happens to another agency within the bay area. so when you do a threat assessment and risk analysis it's going to happen to your department so you need to get ahead of the curve on this and purchase narcan for your officers and first responders." the drug enforcement administration reports this amount 2-3 milligrams of fentanyl compared to the size of a penny can kill.fentanyl can be packaged as a pill, capsule, liquid or powder which when airborne becomes an immediate risk.sgt. kelly says one dose of narcan costs $35 and hopes to see more made available to first responders.

( darya ) in the east bay... lake temescal in the oakland hills may be more vulnerable to sewage spills than we thought.( james ) the lake is occasionaly closed because of algae blooms. but as kron 4's charles clifford tell us... the public may not be getting all the facts. a new alameda county grand jury final report concludes that lake temescal , in the oakland hills, is sometimes contaminated by sewage.the report finds that "a particularily troubling source of contamination is untreated sewage that periodically seeps into the lake's usual water flows."the lake is frequently closed when water testing reveals contamination, but the grand jury finds that the public isnt always told what the contamination is, saying "we learned that citizens were not adequetly notified about sewage spills at the lake." around the lake on tuesday, park goes were suprised to hear that the closures might be the result of sewage spills. soti think i've seen signs out here that talk about the algae but i haven't seen anything that's mentioned sewage.the grand jury report notes that the most likely source of the sewage contamination is

( james ) the alameda county sheriff's department says, the "narcan" program it instituted earlier this year.... is responsible for saving the life of one of their detectives. the department says, one of its detectives was conducting a drug investigation last friday in a motel room ... when he suddenly fell ill and lost consciousness. the early indication is exposure to a fentanyl dust cloud. his partner pulled him outside and

administered two doses of the anti- opioid overdose drug ... at which point the detective regained consciousness. both officers were taken to the hospital following the incident and are expected to make a full recovery. ( darya ) san mateo police are looking for a masked man who robbed a 7-eleven store at gunpoint. the robbery happened last thursday at the store located at 600 east third avenue. the thief demanded cash while holding the victim at gunpoint. the robber got away. ( darya ) a correctional officer is recovering from injuries from an attack by an inmate at san quentin. inmate jesus pina was being escorted by a correctional officer from a medical appointment to his cell when he allegedly attacked the officer.. striking him multiple times in the face. the officer was able to escape from pina.. secure the cell and call for help. the officer was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover. ( james ) an environmental group just bought a large redwood forest in sonoma county ... and has plans to preserve it and open it as a public park it is located just north of cazadero

on the sonoma coast. its called the harold richardson redwoods reserve ... and it was bought by the 'save the redwoods league.' it is more than seven -hundred acres - that is a third larger than muir woods. it is home to the oldest and widest tree in the county.... wider than a two- lane road. the league spent nearly ten - million dollars on the land... and hopes to open the park in the next three- years. ( darya )(ááá2 shotááá) two aiport scares to tell you about. first ... the wrong radio code sparked fears that a jetblue flight bound for los angeles had been hijacked... leading to a massive police response at j-f-k airport in new york. ( james ) as police and firefighters syrrounded the plane.. passengers recorded armed swat memebers on the plane searching the aircraft as travelers were told to keep their hands in the air. the pilot apparently told air traffic control the aircraft was having radio issues... but mistakenly using the code for a hijacking. then traffic control could not get ahold of the plane prompting the massive police response.
