continues and an upper level trough develops near the west coast. another warming trend is then forecast for late week and into the upcoming weekend as high pressure builds over the region.

(lydia) a big story this morning... the "county fire" -- which started in yolo county -- is now 60-thousand acres and containment is at just 5- percent. the fire has reached napa county... where evacuation áadvisories have been issued. mandatory evacuations are in effect for part of yolo county. and right now... 700 buildings are threatened. kron 4's charles clifford has the latest from yolo county on how the fire fight is going. on monday, cal fire scrambled to contain the rapidly expanding yolo county fire. more than 1200 fire fighters and 119 fire engines are now asssigned to this blaze. 29 aircraft also made water and

flame retardant drops around the burn zone, unil later afternoon when heavy smoke and poor visiblity forced all aircraft out of the area.the fire is now burning in steep rugged terrain filled with dry grass, brush and oaks. the smoke from this fire is spreading all over norther california with hazy skies and falling ash spotted as far away as the bay area.in the town of winters, just off the 505, neighors kept a weary on the fire monday.sotkeep an eye on it. we've got go bags ready to go but just keep on eye on the smoke and the fire.sot theresa zamecink is the manage of the putah creek cafe in downtown winters. she says that the heavy smoke and falling ash has taken a toll on business.sotour patio slows down, people can sit out here breathing the air.sadly, smokey skies have become a summer tradition in winters. over the past few years, several big fire have burned in the nearby hills.sotevery year for the past 5 years or so we have had a fire right through the canyon at the damn of the lakesotit's like every year we are waiting for it to start.

(lydia) now to the pawnee fire burning in lake county... that fire is now 75- percent contained. it has burned more than 14-thousand acres. the double eagle subdivision remains under mandatory evacuation orders... an evacuation advisory is in effect in the area... between highway 20 and morgan valley road... and from sky high ridge road to the county line. (lydia) a fire that forced evacuations in the east bay is now under control. that brush fire burned dangerously close to homes in moraga, and forced about 20 homes to evacuate... the fire broke out just after 1:30- yesterday afternoon ... in the area of moraga road and buckingham drive. it burned around 15 - acres... fire officials say, it started in an open space ... behind homes. two air tankers

and a helicopter were brought in to assist ground crews .. as they fought to get containment of the fire. no injuries reported. (lydia) state lawmakers are considering changing the standards for determining if utility companies are liable for wildfires. this comes after one of the worst wildfire seasons in state history. lawmakers announced that they are forming a special committee specifically to discuss wildfires. last month... fire officials determined that p-g-and-e power lines and utility poles were responsible for a dozen wildfires last fall. 44 people died in wildfires last october. more than 8-thousand buildings were destroyed resulting in 10- billion dollars worth of insurance claims. (lydia) another big story we are following this morning... as americans kick off the 4th of july holiday week -- security is a big priority across the country. in ohio - a man has been arrested and accused of planning an independence day attack on downtown cleveland. he also reportedly talked about coming to san francisco. karin caifa has the

latest.. authorities have arrested a cleveland man they say had a terrifying goal this fourth of july.justin herdman/u.s. attorney: this defendant was walking around downtown cleveland conduction reconnaissance on what he thought was a large scale attack.on monday, the f-b-i cleveland division announced the arrest of demetrius nathaniel pitts. they say days ago he told an undercover agent he was planning to carry out a large-scale attack on the holiday.justin herdman/u.s. attorney: he looked for locations to park a van that would be packed with explosives.before his arrest sunday, authorities say pitts reiterated his plans to inflict mass harm and specifically target military members and their families. the details are chilling. justin herdman/u.s. attorney: just yesterday he discussed giving remote control cars packed with explosives and shrapnel to the children of our military and uniformed members. pitts, also know as abdur raheem rafeeq, was charged in federal court with attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization. he had been under f-b-i surveillance since

2017 after allegedly expressing his support for al qaeda. stephen anthony/ special agent in charge: pitts' statements of violent intentions continued to cause concern during the investigation.the f-b-i says pitts also planned to target other cities, including philadelphia, where he had previously lived. authorities say the news shouldn't alter people's july fourth plans because the agencies involved did what they needed to do and will remain vigilant.steven anthony/ fbi special agent in charge fbi cleveland division: the reason the joint terrorism task force worked is because of all the people to my left and right and we are ever forever grateful. in washington i'm karin caifa. (lydia) in that terrorist suspect's charging document .... it says he talked about coming to san francisco as well. and san francisco police tell us they are on high alert and will have extra patrols on duty for the fourth of july. kron 4's j.r. stone has the story. fourth of july fireworks are almost here and that means thousands are expected in san francisco for the annual fireworks show. an increased crowd size means an increase in the amount of officers on

(lydia) the colorado gunman who killed one man and hurt two relatives in santa rosa...died this weekend from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. authorities say 65-year-old walter ross barged into his son's home with guns and explosives on june 24th... looking for his estranged wife. she wasn't there- but ross shot and killed 43-year- old tim gillaspie. he also shot and injured his 41-year old son and 4-year old grandson. both were treated and released from the hospital. ross then shot himself in (lydia) thieves targeted more than 35 cars across north berkeley this weekend... kron 4's ella sogomonian has the story from berkeley. five north five north berkeley neighborhoods were targeted in a crime spree over the weekend as thieves drove from one street to the next smashing windows and tugging on door handles.five north berkeley

(lydia) tragedy in half moon bay ...a woman drowned there over the weekend... trying to save a number of children who got caught in a rip current. kron4's michelle kingston has more. (mk)it's a beautiful beach just south of half moon bay ... and a spot where a group of people were taking a photo on sunday when a wave washed ashore here at cowell ranch state beach -- sending as many as seven people into the water. according to california state

parks the youngest was just 14 years old.47 year old aarti senthilvel jumped in after the kids to save them ... but was unable to get out of the rip current.the children were rescued by other family and friends -- but senthilvel was swept away.california state parks released a statement that said in part "our hearts go out to the victim and her family during this tragedy." patrick gannon, communications coordinator for pleasanton unified school district"i'm so sorry for this loss"michelle kingston, mkingstonnews"she worked for the pleasanton school district as a substitute lunch supervisor. most recently here at vintage hills elementary. we stopped by her home earlier this afternoon which was filled with family who say they are heartbroken."patrick gannon, communications coordinator for pleasanton unified school district"she certainly touched a number of lives here at pleasanton unified. we are very grateful to her for that." california state parks say safety to their visitors is their top priority. and while this investigation is ongoing -- it also serves as a reminder to never turn your back to the ocean.they also

say two people jumped in to pull the man out and started cpr. emergency responders tried to save him for an hour. (lydia) a large medical convention that has been coming to san francisco every few years since the 1980's is now looking for a different host city. officials with that medical convention say ... the change is because of san francisco's issues with homelesness. kron 4's gabe slate reports ... sound from -kevin carroll - executive director, hotel council of san francisco - " when these things leave it affects all of us the taxi the hotel the restaurant we need to be concerned." that's kevin carroll, executive director of the hotel council of san francisco, they represent hotels here and their guests. reacting the news according to sf travel, the city's convention and visitors bureau that a large medical convention that has been coming to san francisco since the 1980's, is looking for a

gs k 4 news (lydia) yet another bay area video has gone viral on social media .. it shows a man complaining about a fellow bart passenger drinking coffee on one of the trains. take a look. "could you just make an announcement for people to not drink coffee on bart." (lydia) according to the viewer who sent us this video... this man was asking an attendant to do something about a passenger drinking coffee on the train.... but the attendant didn't make an attempt to intervene. some might see this as another overreaction to a relatively minor offense. but bart's policies clearly state drinking anything on trains is against the rules. (lydia) bart's official website says ...

"bart police officers will ticket riders who eat or drink in the 'paid area,' which we define as the places where you need a ticket, such as inside the fare gates of a station, on platforms or on any train. state law sets the fine as high as $250.... and up to 48 hours of community service for this infraction." this policy has been in place since bart first started running... in 19- 72. (lydia) bart police is reminding passengers to make sure their cell phones are always secure... after several recent robberies at stations. three robberies happened on sunday at the coliseum station in oakland, and the 24th street and balboa park stations in san francisco. bart warned riders to always be aware of their surroundings to help avoid cell phone thefts. (lydia) the high cost of housing has led to a growing number of people living in motorhomes and other vehicles on the streets. mountain view has its share but as kron four's rob fladeboe reports.... a new effort is underway to provide some of those people with safe parking and other services. it's not just mountain view of course but there are at least 40 motorhomes pickup trucks and other vehicles parked here on crissanta avenue right next to the caltrain tracks. there are at least 300 city wide. this month, a 2-year pilot program begins that will allow some of these vehicles to

spend a night or two in the relative safety of a church parking lot. it would help a lot say those who live in vehicles because they can't afford to own or rent a home or apartment.miguel contreras/lives in motorhome "....it will help a lot because there are a lot of homeless families here and now we will havea better place to live and water and a bathroom and a place to take a shower..."the santa clara county board of supervisors voted to fund safe overnght parking and supportive services, including restroom facilities. a new non-profit called "lots of love" will coordinate the program which might just help provide a path out of homelessnesssays county supervisor joe simitian who pushed for the funding. verlyn/martinez/lives in motorhome "....this was once effecting low income families but now it's more middle income families, i'm a college student but i also work...." verilyn martinez and miguel contreras are living in this rv while they save up for an apartment. they hope to take advantage of the church parking plan if for no other reason than to get a good night's sleep, away from the caltrain tracks.rob fladeboe/mountain view "..lot's of love's pastor brian leong confirmed that the program is now underway with a handful of homeless families

placed at churches around town as soon as tonight. in mountain view rob fladeboe kron 4 newss (lydia) a big story we're following this morning ... a 3-year-old girl died after being stabbed saturday at a birthday party in idaho. suspect timmy kinner has been charged with murder in her death. reporter haley kramer spoke with two children who witnessed the attack are sharing what they saw. fathi and esrom/witnessed stabbing attack:"we saw him saying bad words and killing and stabbing our friends." 11-year-old fathi and 12- year-old esrom were playing

outside with their friends when they noticed the man approach.they say he began chasing and stabbing the victims.in their words, he did it hard, and a lot of times. esrom habte:"we didn't want to get stabbed."fathi mahamoud: "and then we ran to the closet."esram says he brought his two sisters, fathi and another child to his house. they locked the door and hid in the closet.esrom habte:"we were on the phone with the police and we were waiting until they told us they caught him and then we went outside." now, just hours later, these children are trying to deal with what they saw.natssimply -- spread love where it's needed most.nats --tag-- police say 30-year-old suspect timmy kinner was asked to leave the complex friday and allegedly returned to quote "exact vengeance."along with the three adults, a three-year- old, two 4 year olds, a six, eight and 12-year-old were also stabbed.four of the life- injuries.it's unclear if a hate crime.the f-b-i is assisting with investigation. (lydia) that was haley kramer reporting. (lydia) firefighting is dangerous work. but the danger doesn't end when the fire's out. firefighters get more cancer and die more frequently from cancer than

the average american. washington correspondent morgan wright reports, congress sent the president a bill to develop a firefighters' cancer registry from house fires to wildfires -on the job firefighters expose themselves to harmful health risks daily... every fire that they go on there are more exposures happening to those firefighters...patrick morrison with the international association of firefighters says despite all the risks associated with being a firefighter - the number one risk is cancer... we lose more firefighters per year for cancer than we do with any other cause in firefighting new york congressman chris collins says his legislation - the firefighter cancer registry act would develop a link between cancer and firefighters and track the incidences of cancer among all firefighters and the types of fires they respond to... if 6 firefighters fought a particular chemical fire and 18 years later all came down with cancer - there's the direct linkage and the idea here is to get better

protective gear, better eduation. the legislation will authorize 2 million dollars in federal funds to the centers for disease control for research. will direct the centers for disease control - the cdc - to create a firefighter cancer registry which will be voluntary - but i understand almost every fire company in america will do that - to track the incidence of cancer amongst all the firefighters and the types of fires they have been on - so to look for linkages... we need to link those exposures to the cancer, to the job of firefighting - if we can do those then we know we're getting closer to helping and preventing cancers in the future for the firefighters. in washington, morgan wright. (lydia) two people in florida are injured after a vape pen explosion. they both suffered second- degree burns in the incident. here are photos of what is underneath the bandages. the womans says her vape pen battery exploded in her bag, while she was carrying her 3- year-old daughter.

(lydia) a local newspaper in solano county is becoming the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons. people in the l-g-b-t-q community are saying a column written by the vice mayor titled -- "straight pride month" is hurtful. lonnie wong has the story. julie monson isn't alone in her outrage over the subject of vice mayor ted hickman's regular column in the independent voice, a paper he helped start decades ago.in hickman's column often seeks to use humor...declared july first "straight pride american month" in which a rainbow logo is nixed.hickman says it's a celebration being healthy heterosexuals adding... 'we are different from them...and donút flaunt our differences dressing up like fairies and prancing by the thousands in a parade.' hickman has not broken any

law...free speech after all is a guaranteed right.but those in the lgbtq community say the colomun goes beyond free speech. fellow citiy council member devon minnema says hickman's has authored hurtful columns before. the city council is looking into sanctions.but hickman has his supporters in social media who defend his right to voice alternate views.hickman, who hasn't responded to our requests for comment, said earlier that people are too 'thin skinned,' in reacting to a tougue in cheek column.that still hasn't stopped detractors from mounting an recall campaign and a protest rallt at next weeks city council meeting. regarding the treatment of people seeking asylum. the judge issued a preliminary injunction ordering ice to stop the arbitrary detention of legitimate asylum seekers. all immigrants seeking asylum must pass an initial screening to determine if they face a real threat of persecution in their home countries. previously, those who passed were usually given humanitarian parole while awaiting an immigration hearing. (lydia) 4 your money this morning ... the u-s chamber of commerce says president trump's trade policies are costing american's jobs.... saying the tariffs are hurting businesses, farmers, and consumers. but the white house says it's policies are all about protecting jobs. our washington correspondent mark meredith takes a closer look. trt: 1:23out: in washington, i'm mark meredith."we're very close to making some trade deals.."president trump says the u-s can avoid a trade war with its allies. but the u-s chamber of commerce says it's worried it may be too late... the chamber is blasting president trump's trade policies...writing quote:

"the president has been basically stubborn, on his policy...everytime there's been a reaction, he's doubled down"but the president's top trade advisor peter navarro says the administration has one simple demand..."all we are looking for is free trade that is fair, balanced, and reciprocal..."navarro says americans voted for a new approach to trade when they elected president trump. in washington, i'm mark meredith. are taking on extra work -- just to make ends meet. and according to a new survey -- men working side gigs earn up to three times more than women. kim hutcherson has a look at the most popular side jobs... and what to look for when considering one. call it the side hustle nation! nearly four in 10 americans are working another job to bring in extra cash. that's according to a recent survey by bankrate-dot-com.men and millennials are most likely to be working an extra job. 59-percent of side hustlers do it to earn more disposable income. but 38-percent say they take on extra work in order to cover ordinary living expenses. the four most popular side- jobs are home repair/landscaping... online sales... crafts... and childcare. the median side- hustler earns $200 per

month... and the average is about $686 dollars. men are more likely to have a side hustle than women and they tend make more!the report says male side hustlers earn an average of $989 per month, nearly triple the $361 earned by women.experts recommend you do some competitive research and demanding you get paid what you deserve,also....if you have a contract, read it carefully, and look for any potential conflicts of interests. for consumer watch-- i'm kim hutcherson. teenagers are making it their business to spread love and inspiration one pair of socks at a time. 12 year old raechel chang and 15 year old matthew chang designed a line of socks with uplifting messages and colorful designs. the company is called greeting card socks and was launched in february. the socks cost between six and ten dollars. the siblings sell them online or in person at events. they say they hope their words can uplift people in their time of need. < raechel chang/co founder, greeting card socks: "our goal is to get it out of just our community and get it everywhere." matthew chang/co founder, greeting card socks: "the main thing i've learned is that words have power and do influence what you do and how you think.">(lydia) and for every purchase the teens will donate a pair of socks and a greeting card to someone in need. so far around 200 pairs of socks have been sold. bay....the search is on for the owner of this adorable pitbull. an officer says the dog is so friendly she just jumped into his parked patrol car... it happened sunday evening near newell and broadway plaza in walnut creek... police say the dog did this to let him know she was lost. she is currently at the contra costa animal service center in martinez. the dog has no microchip... but is at a healthy weight... and officers just want to reunite her with her owners. (lydia) so many things can go wrong when you plan an outdoor wedding. high school sweethearts alan and shandy cuellar were getting ready for their first kiss as husband and wife when the curious moose photo-bombed their picture. shandy actually saw the moose hanging out by a pond when scouting the location. but she never dreamed the animal would come so close. the wedding party played it safe and kept their distance from the moose until it retreated into the background. in the end, husband and wife said it made their perfect day that much more special. back in december of 20-16 ... 36- people died in that fire in oakland. derek almena and max harris were arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter. almena's lawyer says his client has agreed to an 8-year prison term. the deals are ánot the same for harris and almena. details of the plea deals will be announced this afternoon... when the defendants return to court. ( darya ) a big story this morning... the "county fire" -- which started in yolo county -- is now 60-thousand acres and containment is at just 5-percent. the fire has reached napa county... where evacuation áadvisories have been issued. mandatory evacuations are in effect for part of yolo county. and right now... 700 buildings are threatened. kron 4's charles clifford has the latest from yolo county on how the fire fight is going. on monday, cal fire scrambled to contain the rapidly expanding yolo county fire. more than 1200 fire fighters and 119 fire engines are now asssigned to this blaze. 29 aircraft also made water and

( james ) in the east bay... a fire that forced people out of their homes is now under control. the brush fire burned dangerously close to homes in moraga... and forced about 20 homes to evacuate... the fire broke out just after 1:30 yesterday afternoon. it burned about 15 acres. fire officials say it started in an open

space... behind homes. two air tankers and a helicopter were brought in to help ground crews fight this one. ( james ) state lawmakers are considering changing the standards for determining if utility companies are liable for wildfires. this comes after one of the worst wildfire seasons in state history. lawmakers announced that they are forming a special committee specifically to discuss wildfires. last month... fire officials determined that p-g-and-e power lines and utility poles were responsible for a dozen wildfires last fall. 44 people died in wildfires last october. more than 8-thousand buildings were destroyed resulting in 10- billion dollars worth of insurance claims. ( darya ) san francisco police plan to have extra patrol officers on duty for the fourth of july... as the city is expecting thousands of people. but the holiday comes just days after the f-b-i in ohio arrested demetrius pitts... who's accused of planning a terrorist attack in ohio... with a mention of coming to

the bay area. officers told kron 4 that regardless of what happened with pitts.. they planned on having extra patrols.

hurt two relatives in santa rosa... has died from his injuries. 65-year-old walter ross shot himself in the head. authorities say ross barged into his son's home with guns and explosives... looking for his estranged wife. she wasn't there... but ross shot and killed 43-year-old tim gillaspie. he also shot and injured his 41-year old son and 4-year old grandson. both were treated and released from the hospital. ross then shot himself in the head. he died saturday. ross's divorce from his wife was to become final this month. ( james ) in san francisco... police are investigating a deadly shooting in the bayview district. it happened just before 5:30 yesterday morning... near in the area of fitzgerald avenue and arelious walker drive. no arrest has been made and police have not released a description of the shooter. ( james )(ááá2 shotááá) the dirty streets and the homeless problem could be costing san francisco businesses money.( darya ) a large medical convention that has been coming to san francisco since the 1980's is

(mk)it's a beautiful beach just south of half moon bay ... and a spot where a group of people were taking a photo on sunday when a wave washed ashore here at cowell ranch state beach -- sending as many as seven people into the water. according to california state parks the youngest was just 14 years old.47 year old aarti senthilvel jumped in after the kids to save them ... but was unable to get out of the rip current.the children were rescued by other family and friends -- but senthilvel was swept away.california state parks released a statement that said in part "our hearts go out to the victim and her family during this tragedy." patrick gannon, communications coordinator for pleasanton unified school district"i'm so sorry for this loss"michelle kingston, mkingstonnews"she worked for the pleasanton school district as a substitute lunch supervisor. most recently here at vintage hills elementary. we stopped by her home earlier this afternoon which was filled

( james ) in the north bay... a woman accused of taking part in 2 home invasion robberies has pleaded ánot guilty. amber hembree -- also known as "skittles" -- was arrested in virgina last month. police say they found her hiding in an attic of a home near richmond. hembree is one of five suspects... in two separate home invasion robberies in santa rosa. a man was killed in one of those robberies... another was hurt. hembree is expected to be extradited back to sonoma county soon. ( james ) in the east bay... a man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison... for a 2014 jewelry store robbery... that left his accomplice dead. trai jones was sentenced after pleading guilty to robbery and assault charges. prosecutors had charged jones with murder. but they dropped the charge in exchange for the guilty plea. jones' accomplice... 20-year-old david carter...

was shot by the owner of an antioch jewelry. ( james ) a federal judge says the government is violating its own rules regarding the treatment of people seeking asylum. the judge issued a preliminary injunction... ordering ice to stop what opponents called the arbitrary detention of legitimate asylum seekers. all immigrants seeking asylum must pass an initial screening to determine if they face a real threat of persecution in their home countries. previously... those who passed were usually given humanitarian parole while awaiting an immigration hearing. ( darya ) the high cost of living has led to a growing number of people living in motorhomes and other vehicles on the streets. but a new pilot program in mountian view could provide a better place to park and provide other services. the santa clara county board of supervisors voted to fund safe overnight parking and supportive services including restroom facilities. a new non-

profit called 'lots of love' will coordinate the program. ( darya ) the program is now underway.. 'lots of love' began screening people last night. ( darya ) a community of r-vs can stay at the berkeley marina... for one more week. city officials voted yesterday on whether or not they should suspend a law that prohibits people from staying at the parking lot on seawall drive. this comes after a group of people known as "friends on wheels" settled their r-vs into the area in may. the city manager says the marina fund is facing a growing financial crisis partly because of the declining conditions at the waterfront. officials voted to allow the r-vs to stay until next monday

( james ) in the south bay... a rabid bat has been found. the sick bat was spotted in the hoover park dog run on cowper street in palo alto. so far... there is no indication the sick bat had any contact with humans or canines. officials are reminding people to ánever touch a bat... or let your pets near a downded bat. ( james ) california has spent nearly half a million dollars to give bottled water to prison inmates. the tracy prison's water system failed last fall. water regulators require prison officials to provide bottled water... whenever the system can't provide fresh water. the state's new budget includes 2-million to create a better system... which is expected to cost another 32-million by the time it's done in 20-21. ( darya ) a solano county newspaper is sparking oturage after a column written by the

died after being stabbed at her own birthday party. this morning... 7 people are still in the hospital... while the suspect is now facing murder and battery charges for the attack. haley kramer spoke with 2 children who witnessed the attack. fathi and esrom/witnessed stabbing attack:"we saw him saying bad words and killing and stabbing our friends." 11-year-old fathi and 12- year-old esrom were playing outside with their friends when they noticed the man approach.they say he began chasing and stabbing the victims.in their words, he did it hard, and a lot of times. esrom habte:"we didn't want to get stabbed."fathi mahamoud: "and then we ran to the closet."esram says he brought his two sisters, fathi and another child to his house. they locked the door and hid in the closet.esrom habte:"we were on the phone with the police and we were waiting until they told us they caught him and then we went outside." now, just hours later, these children are trying to deal with what they saw.natssimply -- spread love where it's needed most.nats

( james ) that was haley kramer reporting for us this morning. police say the suspect -- timmy kinner -- was asked to leave the complex friday and returned to quote -- "exact vengeance." ( darya ) help is now just a button press away for thousands of hotel workers across chicago. chicago now requires employers to provide housekeepers with a panic button while they perform their duties... to help curb sexual harassment and assault. a workers' union surveyed 500-hotel employees. almost 60- percent said they'd been sexually harassed by a guest.

and half of the housekeepers surveyed said they'd seen a guest naked or had a guest flash them. ( darya ) the panic button law compliance is complaint- based... meaning the city will rely on hotel workers to report any employers not providing them with panic buttons. new york... washington d-c and seattle also have "panic button laws" on the books. ( darya ) happening today... the two men charged in the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire will plead guilty. back in december of 20-16 ... 36- people died in that fire in oakland. derek almena and max harris were arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter. almena's lawyer says his client has agreed to an 8-year prison term. the deals are ánot the same for harris and almena. details of the plea deals will be announced this afternoon... when the defendants return to court. ( darya ) in the east bay... a fire that forced people out of their homes is now under control. the brush fire burned dangerously close to homes in moraga... and forced about 20 homes to evacuate... the fire broke out just after 1:30 yesterday afternoon. it burned about 15 acres. fire officials say it started in an open space... behind homes. two air tankers and a helicopter were brought in to help ground crews fight this one. ( james ) state lawmakers are considering changing the standards for determining if utility companies are liable for wildfires. this comes after one of the worst wildfire seasons in state history. lawmakers announced that they are forming a special committee specifically to discuss wildfires. last month... fire officials determined that p-g-and-e power lines and utility poles were responsible for a dozen wildfires last fall. 44 people died in wildfires last october. more than 8-thousand buildings

were destroyed resulting in 10- billion dollars worth of insurance claims. ( james ) the colorado gunman who killed one man and hurt two relatives in santa rosa... has died from his injuries. 65-year-old walter ross shot himself in the head. authorities say ross barged into his son's home with guns and explosives... looking for his estranged wife. she wasn't there... but ross shot and killed 43-year-old tim gillaspie. he also shot and injured his 41-year old son and 4-year old grandson. both were treated and released from the hospital. ross then shot himself in the head. he died saturday. ross's divorce from his wife was to become final this month. ( james ) in san francisco... police are investigating a deadly shooting in the bayview district. it happened just before 5:30 yesterday morning... near in the area of fitzgerald avenue and arelious walker drive. no arrest has been made and police have not released a description of the shooter. ( darya ) san san

francisco police plan to have extra patrol officers on duty for the fourth of july... as the city is expecting thousands of people. but the holiday comes just days after the f-b-i in ohio arrested demetrius pitts... who's accused of planning a terrorist attack in ohio... with a mention of coming to the bay area. officers told kron 4 that regardless of what happened with pitts.. they planned on having extra patrols.

rob fladeboe reports a new effort is underway to provide some of those people with safe parking and other services. it's not just mountain view of course but there are at least 40 motorhomes pickup trucks and other vehicles parked here on crissanta avenue right next to the caltrain tracks. there are at least 300 city wide. this month, a 2-year pilot program begins that will allow some of these vehicles to spend a night or two in the relative safety of a church parking lot. it would help a lot say those who live in vehicles because they can't afford to own or rent a home or apartment.miguel contreras/lives in motorhome "....it will help a lot because there are a lot of homeless families here and now we will havea better place to live and water and a bathroom and a place to take a shower..."the santa clara county board of supervisors voted to fund safe overnght parking and supportive

( darya ) kron 4's will tran in live with the recommendations from cal fire. will? issued for three neighborhoods in napa county because of the threat from the county fire, which is threatening 700 structures, cal fire officials said today. as of 9 p.m., recommendations had been issued for berryessa highlands, markley cove resort

and pleasure cove resort. cal fire officials urge residents of these communities to be prepared to leave if an evacuation order is issued. the county fire is only five percent contained and it's burned 60,000 acres. containment isn't expected until july 10. residents with special needs or pets requiring specialized transportation are urged to give themselves extra time to evacuate. residents who decide to evacuate now are asked to travel west on state highway 128 or south on monticello road. travel is restricted on eastbound highway 128 to solano and yolo counties. counties.
