(lydia) an east bay golf coach is behind bars this morning. the 52-year-old man is accused of assaulting multiple underage students. officials say it happened during his time as a golf coach in sunol... and that there could be more victims. kron4's gayle ong has the story.

(lydia)an update to a story we brought you back in may. no charges will be filed in the drowning of an east bay high school student.danville police say, the death of 15-year-old benjamin curry in the school's pool was accidental. detectives say they found no signs of foul play in the death, nor any criminal negligence. the investigation included the review of video footage from the pool area, as well as numerous interviews with family, classmates, and staff... along with a final review by the contra costa

district attorney's office. (lydia)also in the east bay... investigators are trying to determine how a dead body ended up in a park. a woman's body was found in a park in oakland ... on krause avenue... near bancroft and 73rd avenue.. kron4's haaziq madyun has the story. sotit happened around 9:30am here at arroyo viejo creek in east oakland. police secured the area with yellow crime scene tape, while investigators collected multiple pieces of evidence at the scene. opd spokesperson felicia aisthorpe describes the area where the woman's body was foundsot the creeruns through a neighborhood park. there is also an elementary school near by. several years ago a female homicide victim was found in

this same creek. a suspect was arrested and charged in that case. police say there appears to be no connection to this case. although it is early in the investigation police are not ready to rule out foul play sotthere are no surveillance cameras in the area near the creek where the body was found or in arroyo park park. anyone who has information about what happened oakland police would like to hear from you...in oakland haaziq madyun kron4news (lydia)in the north bay... a man is dead this morning after being struck by two vehicles... while riding his bike. it happened on stony point road in unincorporated sonoma county. there authorities found the bicyclist dead. his name has not yet been released. the vehicles fled...but evidence at the scene indicated a jeep libery was one of the vehicles. officers eventually caught up to the jeep's driver... 22- year-old gyvaughn smith. officers are currently searching the area for the

second driver... beleived to be the owner of a dark colored sedan. (lydia)the fire burning in yolo and napa counties has now scorched more than 88 - thousand acres . new numbers just released from calfire has containment up to 33- percent... with some evacuations lifted. however other new mandatory evacuations are in effect... as nearly one thousand structures are still in serious danger. kron-4's terisa estacio has the latest. (terisa estacio reporting, yolo county fire)just recently, the flames flared up on the ridge behind me...take a look - you can see how helicopters staged an aggressive air assault on the fire... dropping thousands of gallons of water in an attempt to stop the further spread of the yolo county fire... this all happening off of highway 16 near the town of rumsey.... it is quite a battle going on out here.. the winds picked up on thursday afternoon, so did the temperature. it pushed toward 100. the combination plus the dry conditions, presented the perfect opportunity for the fire to spread according to calfire

(lydia)in northern thailand... a diver has died, trying to help 13 people trapped inside

a cave. the 12 boys and their soccer coach have been trapped for almost two weeks now. and now... the diver's death calls attention to the dangers rescuers face... trying to keep those boys alive. andrew spencer reports. officials in northern thailand say the rescue diver was a former thai navy seal. he had just finished delivering oxygen tanks to the cavern where 12 boys and their soccer coach, who have been trapped inside a cave since june 23.on his way from the boys to an underground command center, officials say the diver ran out of air while underwater. after his death, other rescue divers are trying to stay focused on the task at hand: keeping the boys alive.mikko paasi, volunteer diver: "definitely, you can feel it. that it has an effect. but, uhh... we're moving on. everybody is a professional, so we're trying to put it away and avoid it never happen again."for days, experts have emphasized the dangers of cave diving, even for experienced divers -- traveling for hours in the darkness, often with or against the flow of water through very narrow passages.

went wrong for two men... leaving both severely injured by illegal fireworks. kron 4's ali reid reports from newark... where one man lost at least one finger. neighbors tell me it was a big celebration.fireworks were being set off right at this intersection.around 10pm, things took a turn for the worse.pkgduring the 4th of july celebrations ... fireworks could be seen all over the bay area. some of them, however ... were illegal. i heard them shouting and stuff.those screams of fear ... a big explosion amputated a 28 year old man's finger and part of a second finger .... while he was lighting fireworks on dupont avenue.charlotte duval / neighborthey looked like they were using safe precautions, so we don't know if it was just a bad one. we were thinking, what if it was a defective one.regardless if the crowd was using precautions, fireworks are illegal in newark. that's unless they're safe and sane - meaning anything that doesn't

shoot into the air.an arreguin / neighborthey were having a big, big big (like a lot of fireworks?) some really big onesparamedics treated him at the scene before taking him to the hospital.they were inside for a while, for like 20 mins then they took him to the hospitalover in antioch ... outside an atuo body shop the firework was on top of the debris pile and he decided to light it. a 32 year old suffered severe hand injuries after lighting fireworks he found in a dumpster, even after his brother in law urged him not to.all i hear was an explosion and i run to him and it was hecca bleeding on his hand, so i tied it up for him to stop the bleeding.he was rushed to the hospital ...the firework is going to have a lasting impact on this person's life. damaging both hands. it's possible there may even be an amputation of one handstandupofficials say even with these reports, there will be people shooting off

(lydia)this morning... police are looking for a driver who they say... threw a firework at a woman... sending her to the hospital. the woman was standing on the coner of fulton street and masonic avenue in san francisco when she says a man in a sedan pulled up and threw a firework at her... and the firework went off and injured her left foot. the driver then sped off, and crews took the woman to the hospital. she is expected to be okay. (lydia)a bay area wide crackdown on illegal fireworks... ends in dozens of arrests... and hundreds of pounds of confiscated fireworks. it was an especially busy night for san bruno police. officers there say they got lucky wednesday afternoon... while driving past a party. police seized 316 pounds of illegal fireworks from a car

parked in front the party and made four arrests. later that evening when officers responded to an illegal fireworks call... they found more than just sparklers. (sot)

(lydia)in the south bay, neighors in the small community of saratoga are in shock.... after someone put up racist posters downtown. the posters have since been taken down, but no one knows who is responsible. kron 4's charles clifford has reaction from residents and the mayor. well, big basin way here in saratoga is a meticulously manacured street and when these posters appeared a lot of people were upset.earlier this week, someone put these posters up through out downtwon saratoga. they encouraged people to report illegal immigrants by calling the phone number for immigrations and custom enforcement or ice. there's also the web address of a texas based white supremicist group.in a statement thursday, saratoga's mayor said, "these posters do not represent what the city of saratoga stands for." the posters were apparently found along big basin way in saratoga and taken down quickly.on thursday, neighbors expressed outrage that alt-right propoganda would be posted in their community. sotwell, my

between parents and children separated at the border.... but it's sparking controversy. activists are concerned the government is being too invasive with children. but federal officials say it helps expedite the confirmation process... as they work to meet court demands. so far... exact numbers on separations are still unclear but the department of health and human services says under áthree- thousand children are in custody with around a hundred under the age of five. a federal judge in california ordered a halt to most family separations at the u-s border. by july 10th children under 5 must be reunited with their parents... and by july 26th all children should be reunited with their parents. (lydia)here at home kron 4 reached out to san francisco based company... '23 and me' ... which previously said, it would be willing to supply d-n-a kits to reunite familes. in a statement, the company told us, it is not involved in the health department's program right now. however the company did say, it is in discussions with non- profits and legal aid

groups to see how it can help. kron 4 will stay in contact with the company and bring you updates as soon as we get them. (lydia)border arrests dropped 18 -percent in june according to u-s authorities. customs and border protection staff said, they made more than 42-thousand arrests in june. that's compared to nearly 52-thousand in may. the june number is still nearly double from last year at the same time. it's unclear what drove the decline. but seasonal changes like heat... and the president's zero tolerance policy, may be factors. (lydia)for your money this morning.. it turns out gender wage gaps start earlier than you might think. in the workplace, the average woman earns 80 cents for every dollar a man makes, with women of color making even less. but that gap could start as early as grade school, according to 20-18 data from busy-kid, a chores and allowance app. the average boy earned 13-dollars-and-80 cents as a weekly allowance. but girls earned a mere 6-71, less than half of what parents gave boys. busy-kid's c-e-o says the gap may be because parents are giving boys physically harder jobs that can take longer, such as mowing the lawn or

sacramento. the fire started around 10 wednesday night. the flames quickly spread from the roof to the attic. witnesses say they spotted fireworks shoot up high into the sky... then landed on the roof. yesterday... the family returned to see the extensive damage caused by the fire. the wooden roof was destroyed. smoke heavily damaged the walls inside. (sot) (lydia)crews say fortunately the flames did not spread to other home's in the area. no one was hurt... and no word on any arrests. (lydia)the fourth july weekend is often the busiest time of the year for animal shelters. kron four's philippe djegal reports from contra costa county... where animal services took in runaway pets who were spooked by fireworks. (philippe) since monday, when people started shooting fireworks into the air leading up to independence day... contra costa county animal services says 70 pets have

been brought into the shelter reported lost. 39 of them dogs. 21 cats, and 10 other animals. steve burdo with animal services says, on the actual holiday itself, he says fewer lost pets were reported then expected.steve burdo/animal services- "we've actually had our best fourth of july since i've been here, which is three years, um, we only brought in 12 animals, uh, eight dogs, four cats. so, we're expecting that to rise over the next few days." animal services says typically the three days prior to the fourth of july... and, the three days immiediately after, mark the busiest time of the year for the shelter.steve burdo/animal services- "certainly, one of the best ways to reunite with your lost pet if they become lost is to have them licensed and micro-chipped. that is the most traditional tride and true way to increase your chances of being reunited with your pet if they become lost." throughout the day, volunteers waited outside the shelter, giving people the tools they need to help find a lost pet or notify the public that a pet has been found. pet owners can also download the finding rover app, which

burning in lake county is close to full containment. the 15-thousand acre fire is 92-contained. the pawnee fire has destroyed 22 buildings... including some homes. ( darya ) in the east bay... a woman's body is found in a neighborhood park in oakland. this happened at arroyo viejo creek. police say the woman was in her 50's. this is ánot the first time a body has been found at the park. several years ago... a murder victim was found in the same creek. police did make an arrest in that case. ( darya ) a woman is arrested for stealing a police technician's car in oakland... and when police tracked her down they found this dog in the back seat. the car was stolen form a police civilian service technician on the

21-hundred block of myrtle street. police found the woman about 2 hours later and arrested her. the dog is now at the oakland animal shelter until its owner can be located. ( darya ) in the north bay... a man is dead after being hit by two cars... while riding his bike. it happened on stony point road in unincorporated sonoma county. both cars took off after hitting the man... but evidence at the scene indicated a jeep libery was one of the cars. officers eventually caught up to the jeep's driver... 22-year-old gyvaughn smith. police are still looking for the second driver. ( james ) charges will ánot be filed after an east bay high school student drowns in a campus pool. benjamin curry was a freshman at san ramon valley high school. he was found in the deep end of the school's pool back on may 8th. danville police say curry's death was accidental. they say they

found no signs of foul play... or criminal negligence. investigators say they reviewed video footage from the pool area... and interviewed staff, classmates and curry's family. ( james ) by today... every parent separated from their child under president trump's zero-tolerance policy... must have a way to contact their child. this is just one of the deadlines set by a california judge. the federal judge also ordered a halt to family separations at the u-s border. by july 10th... children under 5 must be reunited with their parents and by july 26th... all children should be reunited with their parents so far... exact numbers on separations are unclear. the department of health and human services said last week about 2-thousand children were separated from their parents. it's now saying under 3- thousand kids are in custody. ( james ) an an immigrant mother from guatemala has been reunited with her daughter in boston.

angelica gonzalez-garcia and her 8-year-old saw each other for the first time in almost two months. that's after the mother filed a lawsuit demanding to be back with her daughter. gonzalez-garcia says they crossed the border... after fleeing domestic abuse. ( darya ) california scores a win over the trump administration. a sacramento judge has upheld the state's sanctuary laws. the first.... limits the ability of state and local law enforcement to help federal agents enforce immigration law. the second - allows the state attorney general to inspect detention facilities in the state. oakland mayor libby schaaf weighed in on the court's decision.

( darya ) a big story this morning... a diver has died... trying to help a youth

soccer team trapped inside a cave in thailand.( james ) the 12 boys and their coach have been in that cave for almost 2 weeks. andrew spencer has the story. officials in northern thailand say the rescue diver was a former thai navy seal. he had just finished delivering oxygen tanks to the cavern where 12 boys and their soccer coach, who have been trapped inside a cave since june 23.on his way from the boys to an underground command center, officials say the diver ran out of air while underwater. after his death, other rescue divers are trying to stay focused on the task at hand: keeping the boys alive.mikko paasi, volunteer diver: "definitely, you can feel it. that it has an effect. but, uhh... we're moving on. everybody is a professional, so we're trying to put it away and avoid it never happen again."for days, experts have emphasized the dangers of cave diving, even for experienced divers -- traveling for hours in the darkness, often with or against the flow of water

through very narrow passages. claus rasmussen, thai cave diving association: "it's hard work. it's a scary sensation if you're not used to it. even when you are used to it, it can be very scary."crews are still pumping as much water out of the cave as they can -- especially with heavy rain in the forecast. divers have been teaching the boys how to use oxygen masks, but the death of an experienced diver in those tunnels punctuates the dangers of trying to bring the boys out that way.dr. lise van susteren, forensic psychiatrist: "the fear that someone will panic is absolutely legitimate, and then of course, that brings not only a hazard to the child but also to the expert diver." i'm andrew spencer, reporting ( darya ) in the east bay... salute restaurant is shutting down today after more than 20 years of serving the community. menbere aklilu started as a hostess in 19-93... and then a few years later thanks to a loan from a customer she bought the

restaurant. but after years of struggling to maintain the lease.. she's decided to go elsewhere...with the help of the community. over 800 people showed up for dinner last night.. they don't pay for the food. they donate anything they can and it goes to the employees. aklilu is known for not only running the restaurant but doing a lot of charity work in the community. ( james ) a woman in tennessee is recovering after being bitten multple times by brown recluse spiders... one of the most poisonous spiders.

( darya ) she says the creatures have invaded her apartment... despite the fact that the management company sprayed her apartment. now she wants to leave. walking through her apartment.. its hard ot miss the spriders traps in every corner. angela wright put them there after finding nearly 50 brown recluse spiders in her bedroom. doctors confirmed that she was bitten at least three times. after her complex sprayed..the spiders just kept coming back. wright has asked her landlord to break her lease.. and she recorded the conversation.

( darya ) new this morning... a registered sex offender in san francisco is arrested... accused of uploading child porn. officers arrested robert sudakow after searching his harrison street home. investigators say they found images of child porn and videos. police are now asking victims to come forward. ( darya ) in the east bay... a funeral will be held this morning for jahi mcmath -- the oakland teen at the center of a medical debate over brain death. mcmath's mother says her daughter died from excessive bleeding and liver failure last week in new jersey. mcmath had been in a unresponsive state since december 2013... when she was declared brain dead following complications when her tonsils were taken out. she was 13 at the time. her family refused to accept the idea she

was dead... and moved her to a care facility. ( james ) in antioch... we're seeing just how dangerous fireworks can be. an auto shop worker severely injured both of his hands... after finding a firework in a dumpster. it happened outside 'gumaro's auto repair and mufflers' yesterday morning. the 32-year-old man found the firework and decided to light it... despite being warned not to by his brother- in- law. the man was then rushed to a nearby hospital. fire officials say one hand may have to be amputated. ( james ) san francisco police are looking for a driver who they say threw a firework at a woman... sending her to the hospital. the woman was standing on the corner of fulton street and masonic avenue... when she says a man pulled up and threw a firework at her. that firework went off and injured the woman's foot. ( james ) california lawmakers have agreed on legislation to restore net neutrality in the state.

the agreement comes two weeks after a state assembly committee... angered net neutrality advocates... by scaling back the bill. the provisions removed during that meeting have now been restored. lawmakers will vote on the newest bill .. when they return from a summer break. but inrnet companies claim state-level provisions are not practical... compared to a nationwide standard. ( darya ) in the south bay... neighors in saratoga are in shock... after someone put up racist posters downtown.( james ) they've since been taken down... but no one knows who is responsible. kron 4's charles clifford has the story. well, big basin way here in saratoga is a meticulously manacured street and when these posters appeared a lot of people were upset.earlier this week, someone put these posters up through out downtwon saratoga. they encouraged people to report illegal immigrants by calling the phone number for immigrations and custom enforcement or ice. there's also the web address of a texas based white supremicist group.in a statement thursday, saratoga's mayor said, "these posters do not represent what the city of saratoga stands for." the posters were apparently found along big basin way in saratoga and taken down quickly.on thursday, neighbors expressed outrage that alt-right propoganda would be posted in their community. sotwell, my viseral reaction is that its disgusting and saddens medr. greg sancier says he's

this all started after the woman stopped at a gas station with her 2 kids in dallas. she went inside... and that's when she saw the man get into her car -- with her kids -- and start to pull away. so she ran after them and jumped back into the car. she then got her gun out of the glove box... and shot the carjacker in the head. the car then crashed into a telephone pole. the woman and her kids were ánot hurt. ( darya ) the carjacker is in the hospital in serious... but stable condition. ( james ) bay area baseball... the giants are back in town... but their series against the saint louis cardinals is off to a rough start.( darya ) johnny cueto made his first start since april 22nd yesterday. and it was not

( darya ) also in the east bay... a woman's body is found in a neighborhood park in oakland. this happened at arroyo viejo creek. police say the woman was in her 50's. this is ánot the first time a body has been found at the park. several years ago... a murder victim was found in the same creek. police did make an arrest in that case. ( darya ) a woman is arrested for stealing a police technician's car in oakland... and when police tracked her down they found this dog in the back seat. the car was stolen form a police civilian service technician on the

21-hundred block of myrtle street. police found the woman about 2 hours later and arrested her. the dog is now at the oakland animal shelter until its owner can be located. ( darya ) in the north bay... a man is dead after being hit by two cars... while riding his bike. it happened on stony point road in unincorporated sonoma county. both cars took off after hitting the man... but evidence at the scene indicated a jeep libery was one of the cars. officers eventually caught up to the jeep's driver... 22-year-old gyvaughn smith.still looking for the second driver. ( james ) charges will ánot be filed after an east bay high school student drowns in a campus pool. benjamin curry was a freshman at san ramon valley high school. he was found in the deep end of the school's pool back on may 8th. danville police say curry's death was accidental. they say they

found no signs of foul play... or criminal negligence. investigators say they reviewed video footage from the pool area... and interviewed staff, classmates and curry's family. ( james ) in antioch... we're seeing just how dangerous fireworks can be. an auto shop worker severely injured both of his hands... after finding a firework in a dumpster. it happened outside 'gumaro's auto repair and mufflers' yesterday morning. the 32-year-old man found the firework and decided to light it... despite being warned not to by his brother- in- law. the man was then rushed to a nearby hospital. fire officials say one hand may have to be amputated. (lydia)(ááálandingááá) earlier this week, someone put these posters up through out downtown saratoga. they encouraged people to report undocumented immigrants by calling the phone number for immigrations and custom enforcement or ice. there's also the web address of a texas based white supremicist group.the posters were taken down quickly. neighbors expressed outrage that alt-right propoganda would be posted in their community. "there are no specific steps being taken to prevent this from occurring again" but she adds that "public works will be going around to make sure this is prevented."so far the person who put up the posters has not been identified. james, darya. ( darya ) a carjacker is in the hospital... after his victim shoots him. she did it to protect her children.( james ) this all started after the woman stopped at a gas station with her 2 kids in dallas. she went inside... and that's when she saw the man get into her car -- with her kids -- and start to pull away. so she ran after them and jumped back into the car. she then got her gun out of the glove box... and shot the carjacker in the head. the car then crashed into a telephone pole. the woman and her kids were ánot hurt.
