maureen kelly reports that his case is the first of hundreds more expected to be heard by juries. 46 year old dwayne lee johnson sat in the courtroom as his lawyer told a jury the grim facts of his diagnosis.you're going to hear testimony that it's no longer with recoverable. mr. johnson is gonna die and having to say this in front of him and his wife when i wanted to fight but the simple fact is is gonna die it's just a matter of time in between now and then he's gonna have to use more chemo more radiation more whatever the heck he can to try to live another day longer the married father of two is suffering from non hodgkins lymphoma and is covered with lesions over 80 percent of his body.in his opening argument his lawyer told the jury that johnson's cancer was caused by a chemical inside the weed killer roundup made by the agro chemicial company, monsanto. johnson used a generic of the product in is job for the benecia unified school district controlling weeds.the plantiff's attorney outlined his strategy promising to do in depth into scientific evidence that he says shows that the weed killer causes cancer. he says roundup should come with a

thailand. the weather is expected to get worse for rescuers starting tomorrow. but they were able to rescue four more boys from that soccer team today.. in addition to the 4 rescued yesterday. andrew spencer reports. rescuers dove back into the cave monday, trying to get as many people out as they can -- before the rain starts really coming down.narongsak osottanakorn, governor of chiang rai province: "we have two obstacles: water and time." the weather took a turn for the worse on sunday. concerned about the rain, the low oxygen levels inside the cave, and the health of those trapped inside, rescuers sprang into action.divers were able to get four boys out of the cave on sunday and have them taken to the hospital. officials described their conditions as "not that bad."rain flooded the cave and trapped these boysjune 23. but after divers found the boys last monday, the weather seemed to be cooperating; there was no measurable rainfall in this area of northern thailand for almost a week.that changed on sunday, when it started raining again -- forecasters expect it to keep raining all week -- with especially-heavy

"...i took the day off because i knew i would be here for a long time.." "...it's ridiculous, i mean look at all those empty windows, there aren't enough people working..."lines and wait times have been getting longer, twice as long at some offices, since the dmv began issuing the relatively new federally-mandated real id's, which require more staff time to review documents. the deadline for those new id's isn't until october of 2020 but evidently people want to get them sooner rather than later. dmv customer "...i know, i travel a lot and i just wanted to get it done as soon as possible..."some customers waited an hour just to get in the door at dmv's alma avenue location. the wait time clock doesn't begin until you check in and get a number. wait times are gettiing longer even for people who made an appointment. dmv customer "....i'll spend at least another two hours waiting and i'm not even in the door yet..." lawmaker is now calling for an audit of d-m-v offices... in an effort to shorten those long lines. hear his proposed plan coming up at 5:45. (catherine) the justice department will apparently miss tuesday's court-ordered deadline to reunite roughly 100 young children with the parents who entered the country illegally.. a list being circulated indicates only about half the 102 immigrant children under five will be reunited. the justice department has indicated it needs more time.. among the factors complicating the situation -- 19 of the parents have been removed from the u.s. others have been released from ice custody - but authorities haven't been able to track them down. and at least two parents have criminal histories - that will prevent officials from reuniting them with their children. (catherine) 39 protestors were arrested in san francisco today.. this is video sent to us by a kron-4 viewer. the protesters had been blocking the driveway of an ice office for nearly a week... and eventually took

events unfolded including children yelling and an officer who eventually pulled out his gun but did not open fire. elizabeth florida/ mother:"and i see the officer choking my son and i'm like what are you doing? so i got up in his face and said, what are you doing? you're not supposed to be doing that." elizabeth florida says she understands her kids were not respectful but she says the video does not show what earlier. elizabeth florida/ mother:"they didn't see the beginning. they didn't see when they saw my son getting choked and then they tripped and threw him on the floor, they didn't see that part. that's why the kids were agitated." two people were taken into custody, a minor and an adult. jacob florance was one of them and he was detained by police but later released. nats:"you choke me like i had like a short breath. right after he had me on the floor grabbed my hair like.. i couldn't, like i was barely breathing." el paso police say there is more to the incident than what was shown in the viral video. that is why they are opening an internal investigation on the officers response. right now that officer has been placed on desk duty. dionne mack/ deputy city manager for public safety:"the whole investigation process will determine whether the officer followed protocol, look at all of the related incidents that surrounded that, take an opportunity do interviews and go through that entire process so all the facts are gathered although officials say they don't approve of the kids' behavior, they understand the need for proper protocol. it has yet to be determined if the officer was following it. dionne mack/ deputy city manager for public safety:"i think for me it was most disheartening is just sort of see the children just completely labeled and just see them sort of be discarded. i mean it's one incident. you

pleasanton police are working together to identify a man accused of looking into homes and exposing himself. police think he might have been involved in five different cases. the latest incident was thursday night on whispering oaks way in pleasanton. the homeowner captured this naked man on a security camera. investigators are focusing on his distinct tattoo on his right bicep.it shows a feather hanging from a ring. police say he could be driving a four door crossover vehicle. .. (catherine) the city of oakland is cracking down on people illegally using disabled placards. if caught -- the fine is 513- dollars. authorities say they'll be targeting people who are usingplacards that belong to someone else, are fake -- or are expired. police are also planning random sting operations this week. first treated at a make-shift hospital at the site.the boys rescued sunday are at a local hospital about 35-miles away and haven't seen their parents yet.families have not been told which boys are free, so all parents have agreed to remain at the cave until the entire team is rescued.the 12 boys, all part of a youth soccer team known as the wild boars, who have been trapped in the cave with their coach more than two weeks ago. last monday, british divers found them huddling on a narrow rock shelf deep within the flooded cave system.

(vicki) pretty soon, you won't be able to sip that starbucks iced coffee or frappuccino through a plastic straw. the coffee giant says it's getting rid of all plastic straws by 20-20. the phase-out elimination was announced today. starbucks will replace the straws with new lids that have a raised lip for sipping. some have described the new lid as an adult sippy cup. starbucks will also have eco-friendly straws made from paper or compostable plastic.

(vicki) as we reported earlier in this newscast... wait times at the dmv have jumped in recent months. now a central valley lawmaker is pushing to audit the dmv. capitol bureau reporter kody leibowitz has the story tonight.. walking into your local d-m-v without an appointment is taking some people several hours... as of 3-o'clock monday afternoon...we looked at the dmv wesbite for six different field offices across the state. in the bay area -- without an appointment could take anywhere from 1 hour and a half to 3 hours. and in the central valley -- anywhere from an hour 45 to 2 hours and 45 minutes. the d-m-v says one reason for the wait time increase is people applying for a new federally mandated drivers license known as "real i-d". asm. jim patterson (r-fresno) "the waiting times have exploded..." fresno assemblymember jim

patterson says his office has been fielding complaints from constituents. he is calling on an audit of the dmv once legislators return from summer recess. the assemblymember also doesn't believe the wait times are accurately reflected online.. asm. jim patterson "they're not just failing to do what they promised to do with taxpayer money. they're actually, i think, fraudulently reporting wait times to look far shorter than what they really are." d-m-v spokesperson jessica gonzalez couldn't comment on the impending audit request. she did push back on the accuracy of non-appointment wait times..the dmv website does show how they calculate wait times.. for now, -- she says, the dmv is looking at keeping more offices opened on saturdays. jessica gonzalez, dmv spokesperson "we're trying to see do we offer more saturdays? do we need to offer longer saturdays because we are closing at 1 oclock because we see everyone comes in the morning and theres no one left in the afternoon."
