( robin ) breaking overnight... a 3-year-old boy was injured in a shooting in oakland. it happened around 11:00 near the intersection of 80th avenue and holly street. the boy was taken to the hospital... but there is now word on his condition. the shooter is still on the loose. newly newly released video showing the moments before a benicia man was shot 41 times by vallejo police. police say barboa had a knife similar to a machete in his hand, and was slowly walking towards the officers with his hands up when he was gunned down. this happened after a high speed chase with barboa. police say the car he was in was the same one used in an el

cerrito donut store robbery weeks before. a former neighbor of his said this has been a difficult time for barboa's family. ( robin ) a jury ruled that barboa was to blame for his death... by not dropping the knife that he was holding. it was also found that he had some meth in his system. ( robin )a crash in san francisco... ended in three arrests. and resulted in a gun being taken off the streets. kron 4's justine waldman has the details. one man on the ground with his hands behind his back talks with san francisco police... about this nasty car crash by the broadway tunnel. now 3 people are under arrest.sot it did look like a person was trying to flee but we did take

custody of that person sfpd tells kron 4 news.. 3 cars were involved in the accident. and 3 people went to the hospital hurt after the wreck. it is unlcear how many people were in each car. you can see the airbags deployed in this black porche many people also called 911, and talked with officers at the scene about what they saw. only kron 4 news, has video of the gun recovered underneath a parked car. the weapon is now evidence.sot there was a gun found at the scene but it is unclear exacly what role that plans into the situation we do have a traffic collison but it is very likely that this involves a criminal investigation ( robin )in the east bay.... prosecutors have dropped charges against a former san leandro officer accused of

rape. charges against marco becerra were dropped after the teen, now an adult, refused to cooperate. officials say becerra admitted to having sex with the 17- year-old while working in the department's explorer program. becerra, who was an instructor, claims the relationship was consensual but resigned shortly after an investigation began. ( robin )we now know the cause of the fire burning in napa and yolo counties. investigators say it started because of an improperly installed electric livestock fence. the person responsible for causing the fire has been cited. the fire has burned more than 90- thousand acres and it is 86-percent contained tonight. 20 structures have been destroyed in that fire. ( robin )two vegetation fires... one in morgan hill and the other in san jose... are now fully contained. as kron four's rob fladeboe reports now, residents are counting their blessings that no homes were lost in either fire. nats (homeowner tours his property)morgan hill resident

octavio nunez was on his way home tuesday afternoon when a fire erupted just north of his home here on hale avenue. octavio/nunez ".....i got to the stop sign and the road was closed and i couldn't get to my house and i was worried about my family..." nats (firefighters battle flames near nunez' home)this was the nunez home on tuesday as firefighters were able to keep the flames away from his and a dozen other homes in the area. several outbuildings and vehcles were destroyed as the fire swept across about 40 acres of grass and other vegetation. it was all about the wind said another resident. home owner '.....the wind is always blowing through here, it's crazy, it's just a crap shoot as far as where it starts and where you are..." about 15 miles north, crews expected to remain on scene here in the hills near santa teresa county park, mopping up hot spots after the curie fire scorched about 100 acres.

mail thefts. theresa reyes, who lives in twin bridges, says it has been going on for 6 years now... and she has the surveillence video to prove it. theives appear to be operating in teams. you can see this pair digging through theresa's mailbox... and then walking away with a white package she was expecting. and a few houses down... her neighbor became a victim of identity theft. immigrant children with their parents, after being separated at the border. andrew spencer explains. newly reunited honduran migrant josue rodriguez now has to convince a judge that his life is in danger if he goes back home. like many others, he's seeking asylum in the united states....but immigrants fleeing their homes under certain threats of violence may no longer get the chance to plead their cases in court. the department of homeland security gave new guidance wednesday to officers who interview asylum seekers. they're being told fears of gang violence or domestic violence no longer qualify for asylum -- and that those claims should be rejected immediately.rodriguez says he was turned away at an official border crossing four times before resorting to crossing the border illegally -- something that, under the new guidelines, could be weighed against his claim for asylum. friday, attorneys from the a-c-l-u and the department of

( robin )bay area hip hop music festiva, x-o, is now cancelled.... and ticket holders are wondering if they will get their money back. kron 4's dan kerman has the story. for sometime the bay area music scene has been a buzz over this... antioch's xo music festival, sporting the likes of ludicrous, bone thugs n harmony and t.i.nats-tibut now with just 48 hours to go, on the xo webiste the promoter has announced "that due to lower than anticipated ticket sales and... some negative media reports ... the xo music festival ... will be postponed. but that's not the full story. kron 4 news went to site of the event, contra costa event park in antioch and found event park management actually cancelled the event because "promoters failed to provide proof they had liability insurance which

now the mayor of san francisco.... and she's also the first african american woman hold the position. kron 4's hermela aregawi spoke to the president of the naacp's san francisco chapter... about the significance of her inauguration. a historic moment for the city of san francisco..and its mayor london breedthe first female african-american to hold the position.community leaders say.. she's a symbol of hope at a time when the black population is dwindling partly due to skyrocketing housing prices.sheryl davis/sf human rights commissiona symbol of the fact that there is still african americans, that there are still black people here. and then i think the ability for her to be the first female african american mayor also talks about the importance of women at this point in time in the leadership role. and i hear somebody say on several occasions today the future is female and i think that will resonate with our young people and give them hope.naacp leaders say breed's personal

( robin )4 your money this morning...two bay area schools are closing. the art institute of california san francisco and argosy university in alameda will close in december. it's because the demand for online programs is up and campus- based enrollment is declining. dream center education holdings - purchased the schools last year and decided to close them after evaluating certain programs. more than a hundred employees will be laid off at the art institute.... and more than 75 at argosy's alameda campus. dream center says it will offer current students options to continue their education. california says it has admitted a record number of transfer students for this upcoming school year. this is part of the school system's plan to widen access to california community college students. the u-c system offered more than 130-thousand students admission to its nine campuses.... as overall enrollment continues to increase every year. officials say they have already surpassed their goal of adding 10-thousand californians by the end of the next school year. rosa and sonoma county have declared homeless emergencies. we're now learning there has been an uptick in homelessness in the area since october's count survey was just released and found 3- thousand homeless people are living throughout the county. some of those people are living along a street in a professional park in south

santa rosa. you can see in this video -- dozens of cars, trucks, vans, r-vs, and trailers are lining apollo way there -- looking for a quiet and safe place to park. ( robin ) the city and other social service groups say they are working to find housing for the (robin)also in the north bay... the sonoma county board of supervisors has decided against putting a half- cent housing recovery sales tax on the november ballot. the tax measure was intended to motivate new housing projects. the unincorporated area lost more then 22-hundred homes in the october wildfires. the measure is estimated to generate 7-point-3 million dollars annually. if approved by governor jerry brown it could provide 12

million dollars in one time funding. ( robin )federal agents served search and arrest warrants at multiple locations in san mateo wednesday morning. officials say several people were taken into custody but the reason for the raids - is unclear. one suspect says he was awakened by the raids and saw officers with guns drawn when he looked outside his window. the man was released from jail tuesday and believes that could have played a factor in his family's aparment getting searched. his pregnant sister showed kron4 the aftermath inside the apartment. their neighbor is still shaken by what happened. ( robin ) the pregnant sister was taken to the doctor as a precaution. some neighbors reported hearing what sounded like gunfire. but the san mateo police department says those were actually devices used to distract suspects and not actually harm them. the

( robin )happening now... the search continues for a oregon woman who has not been heard from since last friday. while her wherabouts remain a mystery... the san mateo county sheriff's office did hint that they may have new information in the case. kron 4's charles clifford has an udpate. well, athorities have called the dissapearnce of angela hernandez suspicious and her location remains a mystery.on wednesday morning, the san mateo county sheriff's office tweeted out that they were following up on a lead in the investigation into the disspearance of 23-year-old angela hernandez. the sheriff's office declined to elaborate but later in the day they tweeted again saying that the search continues. our investigators are still working the lead.at this point it's unclear what new information the sheriff's office may be looking into. angela hernandez was driving from portland oregon to southern california last week but hasn't been heard from since friday morning when she texted her sister that she was

leaving half moon bay, presumably headed south on highway one. later that evening, hernandez's cell phone was davenport in santa cruz county but on monday the phone signal dissapeared and has been detecte since.after searching the coast between half moon bay and santa cruz for several days, authorites have suspended most of the search effort. on wednesday, the santa cruz county sheriff's office told kron 4 that they have not been asked to continue searching for hernandez.meanwhile, angela herndez's family has put up missing person posters in half moon bay and along highway one. they are offering 10,000 dollars for any information that leads to her wherabouts. we reached out to the family for comment on wedneday, but by late afternoon they had not responded.anglea hernandez was last seen driving her white 2011 jeep patriot with oregon plates. in santa cruz county charles clifford kron 4 news. of killing two children and abusing a third, was sentenced to life in prison. his sentencing happened yesterday. the victims are the nieces and nephew of curiel's then- girlfriend, tami hunts-man, and were under her care. the bodies of the seven- year-old boy and three-year- old girl were found in a storage facility in redding. their older sister was found alive in huntsman's car. in february, huntsman pleaded guilty for her roles in the murders and was sentenced to multiple life sentences. ( robin )on the peninsula... several arrests were made after a car crash sent at least two people to the hospital. it happened on polk near vallejo street in san francisco yesterday afternoon. police say three cars were involved in the crash that left two people hospitalized with non life- threatening injuries. officials say one of the cars involved may have been stolen. police are investigating the cause of the crash. getting a whole lot better. officals say california greenhouse gas emission levels are lower than in 19-90. the state air resources board announced wednesday this puts the state of california on track for meeting long-term goals to fight climate change. california law requires pollution levels return to 19-90 levels by 20-20. we are now two years ahead of schedule... the law requires california reaches 40 percent below 19á90 levels by year 20-30. robot could soon help you with your luggage at the airport... and it's coming to s-f-o. k-l-m royal dutch airlines is testing out an airport robot that can carry up to 85 pounds of luggage. the robot is named care-e and it will take the shape of a self-driving trolley. users won't need to talk to the robot to operate it. instead, it uses a variety of nonverbal sounds to interact with travelers. even better, the robot can use a-i technology to access real-time data like gate changes. care-e is still being tested. but the airline plans to put it to use at s-f-o and new york's j-f-k sometime this year. ( terisa ) the monterey county man convicted of killing 2 children and abusing a 3rd will spend the rest of his life in prison. the victims are the nieces and nephew of gonzalo curiel's then-girlfriend, tami huntsman. the children were under her care. the bodies of the 7-year-old boy and 3- year-old girl were found in a storage facility in redding. their older sister was found alive in huntsman's car. in february... huntsman pleaded guilty for her role in the murders and was also sentenced to life in prison. ( terisa ) prosecutors have dropped charges against a former san leandro officer accused of rape. charges against marco becerra were dropped after the teen -- who is now an adult -- refused to cooperate. officials say becerra admitted to having sex with the 17-year-old... while working in the department's explorer program. becerra... who was an

( darya ) the city of santa rosa and sonoma county have declared homeless emergencies. this is an update to a story we first told you about yesterday. there has been an uptick in homelessness in the area since october's firestorm. the annual "point and count survey" was just released and found 3-thousand homeless people are living throughout the county. some of those people are living in south santa rosa. ( darya ) the city and other social service groups say they are working to find housing for the homeless. ( terisa ) a group of survivors from the parkland, florida shooting announced they have filed a federal lawsuit claiming certain governmental entities failed to protect students.

than 20 min from the toll to 101 ( darya ) a florida woman goes the extra mile for the perfect picture ... and ends up getting bit by shark. the 19-year-old model was in the bahamas posing for the camera while swimming with nurse sharks. during the shoot ... one shark bit down on her wrist and pulled her underwater. she was able to quickly get out of the water, away from the sharks. the man who owns the marina where she was swimming says, nurse sharks are normally friendly. the woman says she learned her lesson ... and has a greater respect for has a greater respect for nature. two bay area schools are closing. the "art institute of california san francisco" and "argosy university" in alameda will close in december. it's because the demand for online programs is up and campus- based enrollment is declining. "dream center education holdings" bought the schools last year ...and decided to close them after evaluating be laid off at the art institute. and more than 75 at argosy's alameda campus. offer current students op t of california says it has admitted a record number of transfer students for this upcoming school year. the u-c system offered more than 130-thousand students admission to its nine campuses. officials say they have already surpassed their goal of adding 10-thousand californians by the end of the next school year. ( darya ) good morning and thanks for joining us. i'm darya folsom.( terisa ) and i'm terisa estacio in for james fletcher. our top story this morning... a major risk of wildifres in the bay area tonight and tomorrow.( darya ) firefighters are trying to avoid another scene like this. this is video from the north bay fires last october. kron4 meterologists say the risk for wildifres will be high because thunderstorms could bring lightning and high winds to the area. those thunderstorms are most likely to hit the east bay and the north bay. fire crews warn that if a fire starts it could spread quickly.( terisa ) john shrable is here now with a look at what we can expect. ..
