committed 4 rapes while posing as a rideshare driver. good evening i'm vicki liviakis. (grant) and i'm grant lodes. police say the crimes mostly happened in san francisco's south of market area. that's where we find kron4's dan kerman live with the details dan? san francisco police say this man orlando lazo is the rideshare rapist, a man who has been posing as a rideshare driver at least since 2013 and has now been arrested for raping 4 unsuspecting passengers.sot cmdr. greg mceachern/san francisco police 13-23police say the 4 female sexual assault victims were picked up by what they thought were the rideshare vehicles they had requested outside bars and nightclubs mostly in the south of market area, then taken to another location and sexually assaulted. police were able to get dna evidence from the first attack in 2013, but there was no match in the system. sotthen in february,

and may of this year 2 more attacks with the same dna. a task force was set up in june, and this past weekend police say they found their mansot police are believe there may be more victims, and they're asking anyone who knows anything about the suspect to come forward.

incident happened tuesday morning on wilkie way. kron four's philippe djegal spoke to neighbors in that area who are especially concerned... because it's the second time something like this has happened in the past two weeks. (philippe)nats- a knock at the door goes unanswered. but the man knocking doesn't go away.cory zwerling/neighbor- "it's a little frightening." just after 11-30 tuesday morning... a woman on the 4000 block of wilkie way in palo alto walked into her living room after ignoring the door... she was terrified to see the man standing inside her house. she yelled and he ran away without taking any stuff. palo alto police believe he got in through an unlocked sliding back door.cory zwerling/neighbor- "we sort of know who are neighbors are and we sort of watch out for each other a little bit, and we gotta probably do that a little bit more." police did use a canine to search the area for the suspect but he got away.no name/neighbor- "before, we just never locked anything, you know, now i do -- i have kids by the way. so, its, its, yeah, its scary." this woman lives about a half mile away from wilkie way, on curtner avenue... where two-weeks ago police say another woman caught a man rummaging through her apartment. he too got away, but police released a

sketch of what he looked like. investigators are looking into whether or not he is the same person involved in tuesday's incident.no name/neighbor- "if you see some, anything suspicious, you know, call the cops, or just don't open and try to lock everything up." police describe tuesdays suspect as a hispanic man between 17 and 21-years old... as tall as 5-11, weighing 150 pounds... last seen wearing a gray baseball hat. we spoke with the mayor who says she can't imagine these crimes happening in what is usually an uneventful neighborhood. in palo alto, philippe djegal, kron four news. a dozen russians are being formally accused of hacking into networks connected to democrats.....and presidential candidate hillary clinton. they're charged with conspiracy. the deputy attorney general says they also stole the personal identities of roughly half a million americans...using a scheme known as 'spear fishing." deputy attorney general - which involves sending misleading email messages and tricking users into disclosing their passwords and security information. the defendants hacked into comptuer networks and installed malicious software that allowed them to spy on uers, take screenshots and remove data from those computers. of course the russians indicted today will never seethe inside of an american courtroom... but the charges will at least limit their travel options...including to the u.s. senator dianne feinstein released a statement. saying in part that we need to know more about the

allegation that the russians communicated with at least one american.. burning out of control in butte county tonight. it's happening near chico... and the upper bidwell park. so far it has burned 650 acres, and is just 20-percent contained. there are evacuation orders in place. firefighters are having trouble getting to the fire because it is burning in steep, rugged terrain. (grant) and an update on the county fire burning in napa and yolo counties. it is now 95-percent contained....but has already burned more than 90-thousand acres and destroyed 20 structures. investigators say it was caused by an improperly installed electric livestock fence. playing in the water at the beach monday. the lab began having stomach problems that night... andby wednesday was unresponsive. by the time chris rushed him to a vet, it was too late. the vet says when dogs take in lots of saltwater - it can cause severe brain damage and seizures. vet - things can come on gradually and you're not aware of how serious things are up front.when the brain gets affected - the whole body gets affected. vets say it's an important warning for any dog owner.... even if you don't see your pet drinking the salt water -- they can still ingest lots of it over time. they say to limit beach time to two hours -- and bring plentyof fresh water for your dog to drink. vicki and grant? look at what's going on in your neighborhood right now. (grant) in the north bay. the mother of two girls... killed when the car she was driving plunged into a river...has reached a tentative plea agreement with prosecutors. 27-year-old alejandra hernandez pleaded no contest last month to two counts of felony gross vehicular manslaughter. a sonoma county superior court judge will review the terms of the agreement next month...and issue a sentence. her two daughters drowned in august of 2016 - after her car crashed into the petaluma river. authorities say she had meth and marijuana in her system at the time. .. (grant) also in the north bay. police are searching for a man, accused of robbing two tourists at a convenience store. it happened yesterday at val's liquors on third street in napa. there a suspect waiving a semi- auto handgun... entered the store and confronted the tourists. the man took their digital camera and selfie stick. the suspect then pointed the gun at a store employee...and demanded his cell phone. the

suspect ran off before authorities arrived. (vicki) in the east bay... a serial bank robber the f-b-i is calling the "faux badge" bandit... strikes again in danville. police say he robbed the first republic bank on hartz avenue yesterday. the f-b-i released these surveillance images in hopes of catching him. they are offering a 5-thousand dollar reward for information that leads to his arrest. (grant) police in oakland are stepping up their efforts to catch the driver who hit a pregnant woman... killing her baby. the accident happened in august of last year... but police are just releasing this picture of the suspect's car. two people were hit while crossing the street near bancroft and 78th avenues... including a 19- year-old pregnant woman. the woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition... and just days later she lost her unborn baby. the car is described as a light color 4-door hyundai with front end damage (grant) we now know the name of the east bay worker who fell 12-feet... down a cement mixer in union city.

joel canela was flown to u-c davis after the accident. a co-worker tells kron-4 that canela's condition has worsened because of all of the dust he breathed in. the accident happened around four yesterday afternoon. canela lost his balance and fell inside the mixer. he was stuck for more than two hours. an update on the x-o- music festival in antioch that was suddenly canceled this week. kron4 has confirmed that people have started getting refunds for the tickets they purchased. some people spent more than 300-dollars for three-day tickets to the festival that was supposed to be packed with big name performers... such as ludacris and t-i. it was supposed to start today at the contra costa county fairgrounds in antioch.. but was canceled on wednesday. it's not clear how soon everyone will receive their refunds. (grant) president trump's relationship with the u.k. is in the spotlight today... as he met with both prime minister theresa may and queen elizabeth. his diplomatic tour comes just days ahead of a highly-anticipated sit down with russian president vladimir putin in finland. as omar jimenez reports... new developments in washington could play a big role in that meeting. nats president trump

(grant) a salmonella outbreak linked to kellogg's honey smacks cereal is growing. the c-d-c says there are now 100 confirmed cases of salmonella connected to the cereal. 33 people have been hospitalized. no deaths have been reported. the f-d-a is urging retailers to immediately pull all boxes of honey smacks from shelves. if you have this cereal in your kitchen... throw it out. throw it out. medical freedom!(vicki) two years after california tightened its school vaccination rules, more and more parents opposed to the shots are finding ways to avoid them.the anti=vaxxers, as they're known, are turning to doctors to gain exemption for their children.(grant) the result is... that in some bay area kindergartens...the vaccination rate is less than 50 percent.catherine heenan is here to explain why that's important.catherine? senate bill 2-77 did away with what were called "personal belief exemptions." parents couldn't simply say "i don't believe in vaccinations."now many of them are turning to their doctors ... especially in the bay area. sfxsebastapol. petaluma, santa rosa, sausalito and berkeley. at these bay area schools, the percentage of kindergarteners with medical exemptions for vaccines ranges up to 58 percent.they are fueling a trend that has seen the number of medical exemptions statewide climb.sfx from under a thousand in 2013, they have quadrupled to more than four thousand last year.doctors say only about three percent of all children can't tolerate vaccines ... if they have a gelatin allergy, for example, or are in chemotherapy.and if more than ten percent are not immunized, they lose what is known as "herd protection"moo this graphic from the c=d=c shows that when only a few

(grant) happening now. u.s. health authorities are alerting authorities are alerting consumers about a new scam. it involves fake government warning letters being sent to people...who tried to buy medicines online or over the phone. the forged letters claim to be from the fda or the federal trade commission...and u-s officials fear this may be part of an extortion scheme. the letters falsely calim that the government is investigating the drugs the consumer attempted to purchase. (vicki) we have a recall alert for you tonight. nissan is recalling more than 100-thousand cars because of a dangerous air bag. the takata air bag is at risk of exploding and hurling shrapnel at the people inside the car. the cars affected are the 2011 and 2012 versa hatchback and the 2011 versa sedan. at least 23 people have died and 300 injured world died and 300 injured world wide due to these air bags exploding.
