( robin ) in the east bay... one person was injured following a shooting in concord. according to concord police the shooting happened sunday night near the intersection of san miguel road and hanford aveune. the victim suffered minor inuries and was not transported to the hospital. there are no suspects and no arrests have been made. ( robin ) in the south bay... a car vandalized at the san jose airport while the owners are on vacation in hawaii. the wheels were stolen right off their truck and the airport says they have no idea who is responsible.

kron 4's gayle ong has the story. here's that truckstill sitting in lot 1 - at the longterm airport parking lotyou see all four wheels are missing from cory oogjen's chevy silverado sotcory and his family have been spending a chunk of their hawaiian vacation dealing with this..cory got a call from san jose police, notifying him thieves have stolen his tires and rims off his trucksotit's unclear how they got in but airport officials tell us in a statement "there are numerous layers of security in our on-airport public parking lots. the vandalism experienced is unique and unprecedented at sjc.our airport security team is working closely with sjpd to prevent this situation from happening again ..

( robin ) ( robin ) in the east bay... a 7-eleven store in fremont catches fire. the store on mission blvd at niles wasn't badly damaged.. but the fire is considered suspicious and the cause is still under investigation. kron4's hermela aregawi has the details. employees at this 7-eleven say the fire was started in the back of the building.. but won't say how a suspect might have gotten there. a fremont fire battalion chief says.. around 3:30 sunday morning.. the department received a call about a fire at the mission blvd location.several engines showed up... and were able to put out the two alarm blaze in about 20 minutes.some

customers were surprised to hear about the incident.. but others say... these sort of crimes happen from time to time here.. as the transient population moves in.matt smith /fremontwe've had people in the neighborhood actually rip the fence by our house to get back to the traintracks and go back. when you think about it, the freight train that comes through here is a great opportunity to be mobile. and ultimately there's no where for them to go. there is no homeless services around. matt smith /fremont i am not surprised. you know, i wish i was surprised. as the incomes are rising, you would think that things would be getting better. you know, the tax dollars with all the new building that's happening in this area would solve that problem but it really hasn't, it's amplified it. steven johnson /fremont it is a pretty safe neighborhood. i live actually two miles up the road so i've never seen any problems or issues in this area. although there is some homeless people that hang around the area. but as far as issues or anything like that, i've never encountered anything.the fire caused damage in the back exterior of

the store. employees say.. a suspect would have needed to break into the store or jump the fence to get there. for now, fremont fire is investigating the incident as suspicious.suspicious.the incident as investigating the incident as suspicious. ( robin ) this morning... 3 people are recovering after a 10-car- pileup in the east bay. it happened yesterday morning... two cars crashed into each other blocking lanes on north 680 in walnut creek. this caused a ripple effect... and 20 minuets later... ten cars had crashed into each other. you can see these cars are mangled and debris from the wrecks all over the road. one car even flipped over into a ditch. in this video you see several ambulances were called to the scene. three people went to the hospital.. we do not know the extent of their injuries.

( robin ) people in martinez were without water for several hours after a water main break. it happened yesterday morning in the area of talbart and escobar. some people in the area took advantage of the situation... one woman used buckets to sccop up the water and used it to water her plants. crews were out their for a large part of the day fixing the break. it has been repaired and water is back on this ( robin ) happenign today... fire crews will retreive the body of a firefighter who died battling a wild fire near yosemite. braden varney was a heavy fire equipment operator. he was driving a bulldozer when he died on saturday. it is still not clear exactly how varney died. the ferguson fire has now burned more than 6 square miles on the western edge of yosemite. some rural counities and several lodges and hotels have been evacuated. that fire is just 2-percent contained this morning. morning -- we're hearing from the couple who found a missing oregon woman. that woman survived nearly a week after her car went over a cliff in monterey county. police say the couple was on a camping trip when they found angela hernandez in a jeep liberty at the bottom of the 200-foot cliff. they gathered items from the scene... including the jeep's license plate... to show search crews. about 30 minutes later they found hernandez -- who was injured but stable. the 23-year- old had been missing since july 6.

two young girls killed in an antioch crash back in january .... celebrated what would have been the younger child's 3rd birthday over the weekend. kron 4's ali reid explains that the family wanted to do this... to show their support for all the people who have helped them in their time of grief. "happy birthday dear celina, happy birthday to you"after wishing camila cardoza a happy birthday, balloons soared into the air. her mother and father torn. camila's 3rd birthday was 2 weeks ago --- july 3rd --- but the family held off the celebration.it was hard for us so we waited a little bitboth camila and her 4 year old sister lenexy died when their family's car was hit by stolen pickup truck in january. their mom was hospitalized and has since recovered from her injuries ... but not the pain of losing 2 of her children.we have ups and downs. depends on the day noe saucedo of pittsburg ... now facing a number of charges

earthquake hits just a mile away from castro valley. kron 4's ella sogomonian spoke to people who felt the shaking. an earthquake of a 3.0 magnitude shook up east bay residents sunday just before noon. it struck about a mile north west of castro valley and three miles deep along the hayward fault.sot: alenele rudy, felt earthquake// "it was a big jolt, just a quick jolt and the house shook."sot: ed stoner , felt earthquake// "i was sitting in a chair in the family room and i could feel it rolling, i could feel the earthquake rolling toward me and then i felt a boom, a big jolt."the united states geological survey noted that of the more than 800 people in the bay area who responded, those closest to the location of the quake marked that they felt light shaking and experienced no damage.the usgs reported the most recent large earthquake along the hayward fault -which spans from san pablo to fremont - was back in 1868.and adds because the past

rescuers found a group of hikers 10 feet off the trail towards a lake in southern california. you can see them waving at the helicopter in this video in wrightwood... which is near victorville. reports say paramedics we're able to land safely and treat a 53-year-old female who was in severe distress. the hiker was loaded into a helicopter and flown from the ridge to a resort where she was treated by firefighters. ( robin ) a woman is behind bars this morning after trying to return a pair of sunglasses for cash. police say she bought those glasses with counterfeit money. vacaville police caught up with marian alfonso after employees called them to report her. police say alfonso purchased an expensive pair of sunglasses in walnut creek a few weeks ago with counterfeit 100-dollar bills. then say she went to a store in vacaville and attempted to return the sunglasses for cash.. ( robin ) southwest airlines launched nonstop service from oakland

international airport to minneapolis and indianapolis. over e weekend... southwest began daily nonstop service to orlando following new routes to san antonio last week... and new york last month. southwest will be the sole carrier on each route from oakland. ( robin ) another shooting on a bay area freeway. this one happened over the weekend on interstate 80 near the gilman street exit in berkeley. the shooters are still on the loose. kron 4's gayle ong has the details.

right you know, violence is never the answer to do things, you know.">marcus walker has lived in berkley for 8 years..he says he was not surprised when he heard about a shooting at the gilman exit on interstate 80 early saturday morningjust a half a mile off the exit, bar patrons feeling the same wayc-h-p says the shooting happened just after 3 in the morning.. we know three people were shot and taken to the hospital.. they apparently self transported themselves..the victims were all african american men in their 30'sbut investigators are still trying to figure out what happened.. officers shut down eastbound lanes of i-80 between gilman

street and university avenue, issa (ee-sa) cohen is from pinole but usually takes this exit when he visits ( robin ) new this morning... one person is injured and anotehr is under arrest after a hit-and-run accident in vallejo. it happened on westbound interstate 780 near lemon street... just before midnight last night. the c-h-p says a woman driving a sedan hit a moptorcycle and then took off. the motorcyclist had to be taken to the hospital. there is no word on that person's injuries. police eventually caught up with the woman in the sedan and arrested her. firefighter is recovering this morning... after being seriously injured on the job by a dog. this is the pitbull firefighters say was responsible for the attack. it happened saturday morning shorty after firefighters finished putting out a fire at a home in san leandro. a woman who had to be rescued was sitting on the curb with the pit bull on a leash. the battalion chief was walking over to the woman to ask her a queston when the dog attacked. he had to be taken to the hospital with major injuries. ( robin ) in the east bay... this little dog is recovering after a coyote attacked her in alamo. it happened while she was in her owners backyard. her name is lucy... she is a nine year old jack russell terrier.. her owner let her outside first thing in the morning and before he knew it ... lucy was in a coyote's mouth. the coyote ran off and left lucy bleeding around her neck ... lucy is now recovering from surgery and wearing a red ndana to hide her wounds

there..">( robin ) neighbors say they have had six coyote attacks in the past month ... in one case a dog was killed. for now, little lucy is only going outside with her family when she has a leash on ... and her owners say they aren't sure what they'll do recovers. investigators say was kidnapped from fresno and sexually assaulted overnight got away from her captors -- by convincing them to let her use the bathroom.she walked into a waterford gas station and asked the first person she saw for help.savannah pritchett/cashier:"the first thing she did tell me was, 'i was kidnapped and they do have guns. please lock the door. they will kill us or kill me.' so it was kind of like, okay, well, all right."it was just before three, wednesday afternoon when 24-year old-savannah pritchett, a cashier at triple r, realized the severity of the situation and needed to make a split decision.savannah pritchett/cashier:"she said she didn't have a phone and i had my cellphone in my pocket and i was like, 'hey, i'll put stanislaus county on the phone and here you go.'"tom miller/reporting:"trying to find a safe spot, pritchett took her into the back of the store and into the bathroom where she locked the door." savannah pritchett/cashier:"i told her don't open the door until you hear the sheriffs." two suspects, one 18 another 16, wait outside...and when pritchett locks the front door, they try to get in. after hiding the victim, pritchett unlocked the store and told the suspects the woman was using the restroom. sgt. tom letras/stanislaus county sheriff's department: "her being able to get this

victim into a secured restroom with a phone to be able to contact law enforcement very well may have saved her life." deputies arrive guns drawn and storm the store. inside, they get 18-year-old anthony sandoval on the ground and arrest him. two 16-year-olds are also arrested. a gun is found inside the suspects' car, and another, in the store. savannah pritchett/cashier:"if i wouldn't have believed her, what would have happened to her?"pritchett hasn't been able to stop thinking about the woman and says she was just trying to do the right thing.savannah pritchett/cashier:"if you tell me that you're in well, let's try to figure it out and ( robin ) ( robin ) that was tom miller reporting. ( robin ) the contra costa county sheriff announced that his office is cancelling it's contract with ice to house detainees at the west county detention facility in richmond. but now there is fear that detainees will be transferred further away from their families. kron four's philippe djegal has the

(philippe)nats- "it's gone on far too long." anxious immigrant families cautiously await the fate of their loved ones held at the west county detention facility in richmond. tony bravo/advocate- "we want to free them all." fernando cabrillo stayed here for six months on an immigration hold until april when he says he won his case in court.fernando cabrillo/former detainee- "it was the worst six months of my life." he's been reunited with his wife and three kids. but there are still more than 160 undocumented adults being held at the facility... and the announcement this week by the contra costa county sheriff that his office has cancelled it contract with immigration and customs enforcement to house detainees here further complicates the matter. now families of detainees are wondering what's next. are their loved ones staying here going to be released? are the going to be transferred somewhere out of state? it's all up in the air.deborah lee/reverend- "and, some were already transferred this week." i-c-e has 120-days from tuesday until the contract is formally terminated. the closest ice detention facility

is about 110-miles northeast of richmond in marysville california. anna tutckaia's (toot-sky-uh) husand alexey has been here for ten months. she says moving him elsewhere could cripple their family.anna tutckaia/wife of detainee- "i see my husband weekly here in the detention center -- it is through the glass. we cannot touch eachother. but at least we can see eachother. but currently, like if he's detained, i won't be able to visit him because i have two little kids. i don't have enough funds to go anywhere." deborah lee/reverend- "we see the announcement as a, as a partial victory, uh, and it will only be a complete victory when the people who are in here are home with their families." that means the detainees be released on bond... in richmond, philippe djegal, kron four news. ( robin ) two people are behind bars this morning accused of stealing a sacramento fire truck. the joy ride lasted two hours and took police on a chase through three counties. it all started in sacramento county

while firefighters were working on a brush fire. police say a man jumped into the truck and drove off... stopping to pick up a woman and then led police through sacramento... placer and yuba counties.... finally stopping on highway 70 near oroville when the truck got stuck in a ditch. the man says he stole the truck to get help. ( robin ) c-h-p officials says the pair acted together and that the woman went with the man voluntarily. no one was injured during the chase. ( darya ) another big story we are following this morning... we're hearing from the couple who found a missing oregon woman. that woman survived nearly a week after her car went over a cliff in monterey county. police say the couple was on a camping trip when they found angela hernandez in a jeep liberty at the bottom of the 200-foot cliff. they gathered items from the scene... including the jeep's license plate... to show search crews. about 30 minutes later they found hernandez -- who was injured but stable. the 23-year- old had been missing since july 6.

( terisa ) happening today... fire crews will retreive the body of a firefighter who died battling a wildfire near yosemite. braden varney was a heavy fire equipment operator. he was driving a bulldozer when he died on saturday. it is still not clear exactly how varney died. the ferguson fire has now burned more than 6 square miles on the western edge of yosemite. some rural communities and several lodges and hotels have been evacuated. that fire is just 2-percent contained this morning. ( terisa ) new this morning... one person is injured and another is under arrest after a hit-and-run accident in vallejo. it happened on westbound interstate 780 near lemon street... just before midnight

last night. the c-h-p says a woman driving a sedan hit a motorcycle and then took off. the motorcyclist had to be taken to the hospital. there is no word on that person's injuries. police eventually caught up with the woman in the sedan and arrested her. ( darya ) in the east bay... a 7-eleven store in fremont catches fire. the store on mission blvd at niles wasn't badly damaged.. but the fire is considered suspicious and the cause is still under investigation. kron4's hermela aregawi has the details. employees at this 7-eleven say the fire was started in the back of the building.. but won't say how a suspect might have gotten there. a fremont fire battalion chief says.. around 3:30 sunday morning.. the department received a call about a fire at the mission blvd location.several engines showed up... and were able to put out the two alarm blaze in about 20 minutes.some customers were surprised to hear about the incident.. but others say... these sort of crimes happen from time to time here.. as the transient population moves in.matt smith /fremontwe've had people in the neighborhood actually rip the fence by our house to get

( darya ) senator dianne feinstein is expected to hold on to her senate seat... despite losing a big endorsement fight. state legislator kevin de leon snagged the backing of the state democratic party. the vote wasn't even close. de leon received more than 200 votes from party members. feinstein received only 22. the two face off again in november. feinstein had urged the party leaders to skip an endorsement between the two democrats. ( terisa ) happening today... the trump administration is back in court... over plans to reunite families separated at the u-s border. more than 25-hundred children are supposed to be reunited with their parents by july 26th. that's a court-ordered deadline. but the department of health and human services says a "significant number" of those children "cannot or should not" be

( darya ) in the north bay... a family of 4 is home safe... after being rescued from a boat that ran aground. it happened saturday afternoon in suisun bay. a coast guard helicopter lifted each of the four riders in the boat -- mom, dad and 2 kids -- to safety. no one was - to safety. no one was hurt. ( darya ) california highway patrol rescuers found a group of hikers 10 feet off the trail towards a lake in

southern california. you can see them waving at the helicopter in this video in wrightwood... which is near victorville. paramedics we're able to land safely and treat a 53-year-old woman who was in severe distress. the hiker was loaded into a helicopter and flown from the ridge to a resort where she was treated by firefighters. ( terisa ) people in san francisco's mission district were stunned to find a popular mural of music legend carlos santana vadalized with paint over the weekend. artist mel waters and others spent much of the day saturday trying to clean up and repair the mural. the mural was created by waters in 20-14. waters woke up to the news on saturday after a picture of the destroyed mural went viral. story we are following this morning... we're hearing from the couple who found a missing oregon woman. that woman survived nearly a week after her car went over a cliff in monterey county. police say the couple was on a camping trip when they found angela hernandez in a jeep liberty at the bottom of the 200-foot cliff. they gathered items from the scene... including the jeep's license plate... to show search crews. about 30 minutes later they found hernandez -- who was injured but stable. the 23-year- old had been missing since july 6.

told authorities she swerved to avoid hitting a rabbit and then crashed into the rocks below. rescuers say it appears hernandez suffered a concussion. ( terisa ) happening today... fire crews will retreive the body of a firefighter who died battling a wildfire near yosemite. braden varney was a heavy fire equipment operator. he was driving a bulldozer when he died on saturday. it is still not clear exactly how varney died. the ferguson fire has now burned more than 6 square miles on the western edge of yosemite. some rural communities and several lodges and hotels have been evacuated. that fire is just 2-percent contained this morning. ( terisa ) new this morning... one person is injured and another is under arrest after a hit-and-run accident in vallejo. it happened on westbound interstate 780 near lemon street... just before midnight last night. the c-h-p says a woman driving a sedan hit a motorcycle and then took off. the motorcyclist had to be taken to the hospital.

there is no word on that person's injuries. police eventually caught up with the woman in the sedan and arrested her. ( darya ) in the east bay... one person was injured following a shooting in concord. according to concord police the shooting happened sunday night near the intersection of san miguel road and hanford aveune. the victim suffered minor inuries and was not transported to the hospital. there are no suspects and no arrest made. ( darya ) in the south bay... a car vandalized at the san jose airport while the owners are on vacation in hawaii. the wheels were stolen right off their truck ... which was parked at the longterm airport parking lot. now a family vacation turned sour for cory and his family ... as they deal with the theft. the airport says they have no idea who is responsible.

in town monday night and hopes their insurance company will help them get back on the road. meantime ... airport officials say their security team is working closely with san jose police to prevent this situation from happening again. in the east bay... a 7-11 catches fire in fremont. the store on mission blvd at niles was not badly damaged. but the fire is considered suspicious. it started around 3:30 sunday morning... crews were able to put out the flames in about 20 minutes. the fire damaged the back of the store. ( terisa ) the family of two young girls killed in an antioch crash in january .... celebrated what would have been the younger child's 3rd birthday over the weekend. camila and her 4-year-old sister lenexy died when their families car was hit by a stolen pickup truck in january. their mom was hospitalized and has since recovered from her injuries. thre family celebrated the memories they have of the two

( terisa ) happening today... the trump administration is back in court... over plans to reunite families separated at the u-s border. more than 25-hundred children are supposed to be reunited with their parents by july 26th. that's a court-ordered deadline. but the department of health and human services says a "significant

number" of those children "cannot or should not" be reunited. in a court filing yesterday... the trump administration said it does not want to reunite a child without confirmation of who the parent is and assurances that the child will be safe. the contra costa county sheriff announced that his office is cancelling it's contract with ice to house detainees at the west county detention facility in richmond. but now there is fear that detainees will be transferred further away from their families. kron four's philippe djegal has the latest. nats- "it's gone on far too long." anxious immigrant families cautiously await the fate of their loved ones held at the west county detention facility in richmond.tony bravo/advocate- "we want to free them all." fernando cabrillo stayed here for six months on an immigration hold until april when he says he won his case in court.fernando cabrillo/former detainee- "it was the worst six months of my life." he's been reunited with his wife and three kids.

but there are still more than 160 undocumented adults being held at the facility... and the announcement this week by the contra costa county sheriff that his office has cancelled it contract with immigration and customs enforcement to house detainees here further complicates the matter. now families of detainees are wondering what's next. are their loved ones staying here going to be released? are the going to be transferred somewhere out of state? it's all up in the air.deborah lee/reverend- "and, some were already transferred this week." i-c-e has 120-days from tuesday until the contract is formally terminated. the closest ice detention facility is about 110-miles northeast of richmond in marysville california. anna tutckaia's (toot-sky-uh) husand alexey has been here for ten months. she says moving him elsewhere could cripple their family.anna tutckaia/wife of detainee- "i see my husband weekly here in the detention center -- it is through the glass. we cannot touch eachother. but at least we can see eachother. but currently, like if he's detained, i won't be able to visit him because i have two

( darya ) people in martinez were without water for several hours after a water main break. it happened yesterday morning in the area of talbart and escobar. some people in the area took advantage of the situation... one woman used buckets to sccop up the water and used it to water her plants. crews were out their for a large part of the day fixing the break. it has been repaired and water is back on this morning. ( darya ) in the north bay... a family of 4 is home safe... after being rescued from a boat that ran aground. it happened saturday afternoon in suisun bay. a coast guard helicopter lifted each of the four riders in the boat -- mom, dad and 2 kids -- to safety. no one was hurt.

( darya ) california ( terisa ) ( darya ) california highway patrol rescuers found a group of hikers 10 feet off the trail towards a lake in southern california. you can see them waving at the helicopter in this video in wrightwood... which is near victorville. paramedics we're able to land safely and treat a 53-woman who was in severe distress. the hiker was loaded helicopter and the ridge to a she was firefighters. ( terisa ) people in san francisco's mission district were stunned to find a popular mural of music legend carlos santana vadalized with paint over the weekend. artist mel waters and others spent much of the day saturday trying to clean up and repair the mural. the mural was created by waters in 20-14. waters woke up to the news on saturday after a picture of the destroyed mural went viral. ( terisa ) this morning... 3 people are recovering after a 10-car- pileup in the east bay. it happened yesterday morning... two cars crashed into each other blocking lanes on north 680 in walnut creek. this caused a ripple effect and 20 minuets later ten cars had crashed into each other. you can see these cars are mangled and debris from the wrecks all over the road. one car even flipped over into a ditch. in this video you see several ambulances were called to the scene. three people went to the hospital.. we do not know the extent of their injuries. killed in a crash in alameda county. the accident happened in castro valley... near anthony chabot regional park on saturday night. only one car was involved. c-h-p says a red mazda overturned in the roadway. a third person in the car was taken to the hospital. ( darya ) close to 30 people were on board an amtrak train when it collided with a car in newark. the car's driver was seriously injured. the alameda country fire department said the crash happened sunday morning on cedar boulevard. no one on the train was hurt. an amtrak spokesperson said the train signals did ánot malfunction. investigators are still working to figure out the cause of the accident. ( darya ) in the north bay... police are looking for a man who robbed two tourists at a convenience store. it happened thursday at val's liquors on third street in napa. a man armed with a semi-auto handgun... walked into the store and confronted the tourists. the gunman took their digital camera and selfie stick. he then pointed the gun at a store employee... and demanded his cell phone. behind bars this morning after trying to return a pair of sunglasses for cash. police say she bought those glasses with counterfeit money. vacaville police caught up with marian alfonso after employees called them to report her. police say alfonso purchased an expensive pair of sunglasses in walnut creek a few weeks ago with counterfeit 100-dollar bills. then say she went to a store in vacaville and attempted to return the sunglasses for cash. ( terisa ) an east bay firefighter is facing a very long recovery this morning... after being seriously injured on the job by a dog. this is the pit bull firefighters say was responsible for the attack. it happened saturday morning shorty after firefighters finished putting out a fire at a home in san leandro. a 15 year old rescued was sitting on the curb with the pit bull on a leash. the battalion chief was walking over to the girl to ask her a queston when the dog attacked him, ... biting his face. he was rushed to

behind bars this morning accused of stealing a sacramento fire truck. the joy ride lasted two hours and took police on a chase through three counties. it all started in sacramento county while firefighters were working on a brush fire. police say a man jumped into the truck and drove off... stopping to pick up a woman and then led police through sacramento... placer and yuba counties.... finally stopping on highway 70 near oroville when the truck got stuck in a ditch. the man says he stole the truck to get help. a quick-thinking cahier helped save a woman from suspected kidnappers. this is the moment a woman who investigators say was kidnapped from fresno got away from her captors. she had convinced them to let her use the bathroom.. so she walked into a waterford gas station and asked the cashier for help. 24-year-old savannah pritchett.. the cashier locked the girl in the bathroom, gaver her a cell phone so she could call for help.
