orlando lazo could face multiple life sentences if convicted. kron 4's dan kerman is live at the san francisco hall at the san francisco hall of justice with our first look at the charges. 37 year old orlando vilchez lazo made his first court appearance tuesday following his arrest last week for allegedly raping 4 women while posing as a rideshare driver in san franciscosotvilchez lazo did not enter a plea, but he faces 12 counts of sexual assault, kidnapping and kidnapping to commit sexual assault... he is also accused of using a knife during 3 of those attacks. the judge agreed with prosecutors and set no bail meaning the defendant will remain in the county jail sot alex bastian/s.f. district attorney's office 36-43monday federal immigration authorities announced vilchez lazo is a citizen of peru and in the united states illegally. but his attorney says this case is not about

people have been arrested in a hammer attack that injured three boys. the attack happened back in may in aptos. police say several masked men went into the home on monte vista drive... and attacked the teenagers who were sleeping. two victims who are 16 and 17-years-old suffered major head injuries. in total, four teens from watsonville.. a 15-year-old and three 16- year-olds... were arrested in connection to the attack. police have not yet said a motive. (vicki) the hot and dry weather is also fueling a wildfire near yosemite national park. fire crews say the blaze has scorched more than 19-square-miles in the steep terrain on the park's western edge. and tonight-- it is just five percent contained. (grant) angelica lei lani is live in ahwahnee tonight with details on the firefighting efforts. angelica? crews are working tirelessly to try and gain the upper hand. as of this morning they doubled their manpower and resources which is why they had to move here to ahwahnee from mariposa. the ferguson fire growing rapidly throughout the night in the sierra national forest.

dozens of fresh crews coming from all over the state to help battle the flames. "i think we were around 700 firefighters that were here yesterday now we're up to 1468 total"but cal fire says the thick layer of smoke is becoming a challenge for air attack crews. on the ground firefighters lay containment lines throughout the steep rugged terrain - in the scorching heat. "these firefighters we do make sure that they're properly suited up, that they're hydrated, that they're nourished and that they're ready to go out and fight these fires."engine crews are parked throughout communities.as the fire moves fast both east and south, threatening more than 1- hundred structures. "i was just grossed out, i put it back here because i didn't want it getting into rest of food. felicia cipolla says on monday night, she and her partner were getting read to cut up some fish they bought earlier in the day from the costco store in richmond... but then felicia says she noticed something moving. she got our her phone and took this video... felcia. "we buy fish occasionally from costco, but this is the first time a worm in it. and it isn't your typical worm, parasite." "the scary thing about it, it looks similar to bones and if you are not paying attention, you would just eat it and that is gross." in fact, felicia says she is so grossed out finding the white parasite, she decided to double bag the wild caught salmon and put it in a refrigerator in the spare room. felicia. it is definitely not dead. kron four reached out to costco. in response, they sent us a leaflet on parasites in marine fish which stated all lviing organisims inclduing fish can have parasites. the leaflet written by two uc davis seafood specalists, said that

killing two and critically injuring a third passenger. the the single-engine plane went down this morning just before eight o'clock. the pilot reported engine problems almost immediately after leaving the truckee-tahoe airport and was trying to return when the plane went down. the pilot died at the scene while two passengers were taken to the hospital. one later died at the hospital. the f-a-a and n-t-s-b are investigating.... along with the placer county sheriff's office. (grant) an investigation is underway at travis air force base after a mother says her 5-year-old daughter was assaulted in a bathroom. the girl's mother works at a childcare facility on the base in fairfield. she says her daughter was touched inappropriately by another young girl in the bathroom. the mother posted a video online warning parents that their kids could be in danger. the base released a statement saying it takes the priority. (vicki) after less than a week on the job, san francisco's mayor got a first hand look at the work being done to break up and clean up

homeless encampments in the city. kron4's maureen kelly went along for a walking tour thru a campsite that city officials say has been a problem for decades. mayor london breed walks around a sidewalk encampment with the director of the department of public works. so what do you do about the sidewalkonce they go we'll steam clean and wash and clean city crews swept up the debries....and public health officers pick up needles of this tent city on a deadend block of king street that that was broken before.....but has reformed. the mayor met two of the roughly 15 homeless living in this spot....shaking their hands as they get prepped to move out... johnson time started crying as he described his emotions about moving into a navigation center. i'm happy i'm sad mad i got so many things feelings that are going right through me right now i feel relieved that you gus are

an 81-year-old man who has spent all but one year of his life in the city of san leandro has run out of options... and, is being

evicted from his mobile home. (vicki) kron four's philippe djegal spoke with the man who says his new property owners are pricing him out. (philippe) unit number thirteen at the bayshore commons in san leandro, for 81-year-old john busch... has been home for the past 15 years... in a city he's lived in for eight decades. his space is cramped, but he likes it, and this is where the retired design engineer planned live out his life. then he says the new owners that bought the park late last year changed everything.john busch/tenant- 'in october, they informed us that there was going to be a rate increase coming along in january." john says harmony communities increased his rent by more than half. from 585-dollars to 895. a representative for harmony tells kron four they offered john a subsidy to help off-set the difference... but that john declined.john busch/tenant- "i don't want the taxpayer to have to pay for my, uh, increase in rent. you know, so that they can make a killing on me." each month since january, john says he's tried to pay his rent, but only with a seven- percent increase that he proposed. he says the property manager has only accepted one check. the city of san leandro doesn't have rent control. councilmember corina lopez

(vicki) police in the east bay are looking for a robber who stole a laptop from a woman at starbucks. it happened on willow avenue in hercules. a woman was on her laptop when the thief suddenly grabbed it. after a struggle... the robber got away with the computer... and got into a newer model white hyundai sonata with yellow and blue "stoneridge" paper plates. a woman was the get away driver. this is not the first time thieves have targeted customers at this particular starbucks. (grant) in the north bay... santa rosa police have arrested a man accused of breaking into two homes and stealing women's underwear. detectives say 65-year old cornell holiday worked at the apartment complex where the burglaries happened. holiday is accused of using his work keys to enter the

women's apartments. police say he then took some of their clothing including underwear. washington correspondent alexandra limon reports they're proposing a new law that would stop the administration's immigration policy - permanently despite several court orders to quickly reunite immigrant families - the government has been unable to.they never ever had an intent to reunite these children with their parents, never.now a group of senators from the western united states - is introducing the reunite act. the bill would require the government to establish a process to quickly reunite children with legal guardians, as long as it's safe.it would also allow lawyers, advocacy groups and parents access to the kids.and prevent the administration from detaining immigrant famlies indefinitely after reuniting y/d-oregon>they want to set up internment camps, that is not going to happen. we will be on the warpath here in congress against any effort to legalize internment camps in the united states.alexandra limonthe reunite act proposes returning to the family case management

it's the toy fad that could make your child sick. a consumer watchdog group found that some of brightly the colored toy slime ... has unsafe levels of a chemical that causes vomiting and stomach cramps. the chemical is called boron. the group tested slime sold at stores and on amazon. although many of the products with unsafe levels of the chemical have been removed ... parents are advised to approach all slime with caution, as many have minimal information on their labels. engineer, at 81-year-old, john says he's lived in san leandro almost all of his life. the last 15 years here at the bayshore commons. he says the new owners, harmony communities, took over last year... and, increased his rent by more than half. they've offered him subsides to lessen what he would have to pay, but he's refused. he's proposed a smaller increase of seven-percent, and has tried to make those payments... but says the property manager has only accepted one of his checks since january. john says it's unfortunate the city of san leandro doesn't have rent control.john busch/tenant- "if it isn't, uh, made illegal or criminal, its inhumane and, uh, unconcionable anyway." corina lopez/councilmember- "i think that, uh, the displacement, um, of folks, when new owners come in and purchase properties is something that we have to be very mindful of.:" councilmember corina lopez says she intends to work with john on this issue... though it's not clear what more can be done. the property owners agreed to cancel john's debt with the mobile home park if he agreed to leave in a month... and, he admits to signing the agreement. in san leandro, philippe djegal, kron four news.

(ken) today alameda county officials announced there will be more funding for immigrants facing deportation. supervisor richard valle said nearly three hundred thousand dollars will be added to the immigrant defense fund. oakland mayor libby schaaf stood alongside valle at a press confrence this afternoon...thanking the county for the funding. schaaf said the funds will help to end the seperation of immigrant families in alameda county. it's budgeted to last through 20-19. (ken) the search continues for a canadian man who went missing at a southern california national park. after five days of intense searching in joshua tree national park and almost 90 rescuers involved there's still no sign of paul miller. the 51-year-old husband, father and 20 year member of his local church has vanished. miller called his wife at nine a-m on friday from the 49 palms trail head, where park rangers eventually found his vehicle. that's the last time anyone has heard from miller.(sot) "obviously we've been doing a lot of praying at our churchpeople reaching out to see if help can be had other ways, of course its difficult being so far away."(ken)(ken) (ken) the san bernardino county sheriff's office along with aircraft are assisting in the search for miller. (ken) on the peninsula..... a freeway is back open after a big rig hauling 80-thousand pounds of produce.. overturned. the crash happened last night on the highway 101 and highway 92 connector ramp in san mateo... and the road remained closed into the morning commute. it took several tow trucks to finally get the truck upright and moved off the road. no injures were no injures were reported. (vicki) new at 6. crissy field avenue in san francisco's presidio will be permanently closed friday. the roadway will be converted to a trail for pedestrians and bicyclists to help connect crissy field to the golden gate bridge. once closed... pedestrians will still be able to go in both directions..but bicyclists will only be able to travel uphill until improvements are completed in the coming months. motorists will still be able to access the area using lincoln blvd and mcdowell avenue.
