u-v at joseph grant park .... with one of his underage students.rangers spotted the two after park hours ...... and say the badminton coach was having an inappropriate relationship with a girl that had recently turned 17. evidence was collected at the scene and the coach was arrested on the spot.after the criminal investigation, he booked into the santa clara county jail ... on multiple charges including a sexual assault related crime. he's since been released after posting bail.an employee here says malay-thong isn't available for interviews because he is at a badminton tournament in las vegas.the 37 year old is a former olympian and 6-time winner of the u-s national badminton championships in doubles.the sheriff's office says there's no evidence of additional victims, but if there are any ... or if anyone knows of other potential victims .... to give them a call.reporting live from menlo park ... ali reid .... chainsaw, snapped and fell on him. this is of where it happened on west dry creek road in healdsburg. the victim has been identified as 48-year-old luis garcia. two of garcia's employees tried to give garcia cpr... but their efforts were unsuccessful. authorities are investigating the death. ( robin )in the east bay.. tensions running high at a town hall meeting in oakland. city officials and residents came together to talk about the way police treat people of color. plus: a stanford professor has been working with opd to tackle bias in policing.. but city council members just voted to end her contract. kron 4's hermela aregawi has the story. tensions flare at this oakland town hall..residents listened to several speakers talk about racial bias in policing.. oakland police chief, the mayor, and jennifer eberhardt.. the stanford professor that has working with opd to collect data on

( robin )a union city business owner is offering a reward... to find out who stole 45- thousdand dollars worth of merchandise. jeffrey cheng... who owns ...angel dear.., a high end clothing store for babies, says thieves broke into his shipping container sunday night... and stole 48 boxes full of clothing. that shipping container was parked right outside his warehouse. cheng's clothes are often sold at department stores and specialty boutiques. he urges to public to let him know if you spot his stolen goods. ( robin ) cheng's clothing is often seen on famous children because of his celebrity clientele like ayesha curry, kim kardashian, and victoria beckham. he's worried the clothes might end up for sale on the street or flea markets.. for a fraction of the price. alto arrest 4 women for two separate robberies at the stanford shopping center. the first robbery happeend earlier this month at the urban outfitters. police tracked their getaway car and earlier this week arrested tonisha harris. then on tuesday... a police officer at the shopping center caught two women stealing clothes from the victoria's secret. they were arrested... so was another woman who was waiting in a car in the parking lot. ( robin )milpitas police are looking for a man wanted in an armed robbery. investigators say this man went up to a victim at their car... and robbed them at gunpoint. the suspect got away with a wallet and smartphone. he was last seen wearing a black "san jose sharks" hoodie... glasses, black gloves and a grey bandana covering his face. ( robin )a man is behind bars this morning for trying to rob a bank. it happened yesterday around 3 p-m near san francisco's embarcadero bart station. police say the man entered the bank... handed the teller a note....

and then ran off. it's not clear if he got away with any money. police were able to track the man down in less than 10 minutes. they arrested him near the millennium towers. ( robin )on the peninsula... c-h-p officers found a car that went off a cliff in san mateo county... but they can't find the driver. officers tweeted out this picture thursday morning. the car was found off of highway 1... just north of pescadero state beach. investigators are still working to figure out who this car belongs to. ( robin )in national news... severe weather is likely to blame for a fatal boating accident in missouri. at least 11-people are dead after the boat capsized and sank. reporter john lorinc has the story. missouri dive teams spent the overnight hours searching table rock lake.they were looking for people aboard a duck boat when it capsized. trent behr/eyewitness"i was in the showboat and i didn't see them fall over but i knew....we all knew."the boat started off with 31-people on

( robin )senator kamala harris introduced legislation to a... rent relief act.. for working families struggling to pay bills. the rent relief act would create a new, refundable tax credit, providing families with more money. the refundable tax credit will be available to individuals who live in rental housing and pay more than 30- percent of their gross income on their rent including utilities. ( robin ) the university of california is lowering tuition for the upcoming academic year. the u-c board of regents approved the 60-dollar decrease yesterday.

although some feel that it's not much... it does show tuition is going down. this is the university system's áfirst tuition decrease in nearly two decades. u-c had planned earlier this year to raise tuition for all students by more than 300 dollars, but u-c officials scrapped that proposal in april. the u-c system last lowered tuition for the 19-99, 2000 academic year. ( robin )walnut creek is testing a pilot program in which seniors can schedule a lyft driver for free rides. those free rides will come during hours when regular senior para-transit service isn't available. according to walnut creek's recreation program, this is the first program in the bay area to provide free rides for people 60 and older to general locations using a ride-hailing company. drivers will still get paid and the money is coming from a two year grant, funded by two contra costa county transportation

( robin ) authorities in the south bay have taken down a well- organized illegal gambling operation. as kron four's rob fladeboe reports now, the backroom casinos were posing as legitimate businesses. responding to complaints from neighbors in this and othe vietnamese neighborhoods, cropey pc repair and rentals here at a strip mall on cropley avenue and this nail sailon on north 14th street were the first to be raided. inside police found people engaged in illegal gambling. they were playing poker and other card games and there were lots las vegas style gambling machines, fifty of which were seized and booked into evidence along with $75,000 dollars in cash. joined by the da's office and the state department of justice, search warrants were served at five other cafes, restaurants and other shops that were just storefronts

northbound 101 in san jose wednesday morning. you can see in thipicture ... he is riding in a lane of traffic headed northbound. the chp says at least one person called saying the man jumped over the median... and kept heading nouthbound going against traffic in the southbound lanes. two men are behind bars... in connection with a deadly shooting. this happened wednesday night at a home on san pablo dam road in el sobrante. authorities found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in the driveway. he died at the scene. we spoke to neighbors in the area... who say they saw a lot of police activity at that property. fearing for their safety... they asked that we not reveal their identities.

while posing as a driver. kron 4's terisa estacio was at the hearing yesterday-- and says the man's wife was also in the courtroom. orlando lazo - the rideshare driver - faced the judge in san francisco superior court. his attorney strongly denied the horrific allegations against him including violently kidnapping and raping 4 women after they got into his car. (natural sound) not guilty your honor. after pleading not guilty. in court, lazo's attorney requested bail be set for his client arguing that he did not have a prior criminal history and that he is a family man referring to his wife, brother and nephew in court. kron four caught up with family members outside of court. natural sound - what do you have to say about this? is he innocent? did he rape those women? is he your brother? innocent? the case against lazo unfolded following a coordinated task force - the first case allegedly took place in november of 2013. the next case, feb of this year a third case in may and a fourth case in june. in the most recent case, after the victim called for a rideshare outside temple bar. the victim was falling asleep and waking up throughout the course of the ride, when she awoke, she was in an unknown location and he began to threaten her and held a knife to her neck she realized the wetness of her hands was her own blood and that she had been trying to fend off the knife with her

( darya ) happening today... crissy field avenue in san francisco's presidio... will permanently close. the roadway will be turned into a trail for pedestrians and bicyclists... connecting crissy field to the golden gate bridge. once closed... you can walk in either direction... but bicyclists will only be able to travel uphill until improvements are made in the coming months. drivers will still be able to access the area using lincoln boulevard and mcdowell avenue. ( james ) this morning we are getting new information about the deadly accident that killed a san francisco pedicab driver. here are pictures police released... showing the car they're looking for. its a champagne colored four- door honda civic. whoever this driver is hit the kevin manning... and sped off. the accident happened about a month ago near sansome street on the embarcadero. four others... including children... were also riding in manning's pedicab when the accident happened. they were also injured from the crash. manning later passed away in a hospital. student. khankham malaythong is a coach at synergy badminton in menlo park. santa clara deputies arrested him last thursday... after finding him in an s-u-v with his student. the two were at joseph grant park after hours. malaythong was released from custody after posting bail. right now... he's at badminton tournament in las vegas. the 37-year old is a former olympian and 6-time national champion in doubles competition. ( darya ) new this morning... the sonoma county sheriff's office has arrested three people for the murder of a missing cloverdale man... whose body was discovered earlier this week. jose martinez went missing on june 29th. police say martinez was kidnapped on june 29th at a grocery store in cloverdale... driven to a remote area and murdered. the next day the accused killer took martinez's body to a marijuana garden in healdsburg and burried it. police only discovered the body on wednesday.

tree service is dead... after a tree he was cutting snapped and fell on him. it happened on west dry creek road in healdsburg. the victim has been identified as 48-year-old luis garcia. two of garcia's employees tried to give him c-p-r... but their efforts were unsuccessful. premiums are going up in california. the 1 million people in the state who have insurance through "covered california" will pay about 8-percent more. covered california is blaming the trump administration for the increase... saying the president's decision to eliminate the insurance mandate is behind the jump in costs. but the president and other top republicans say no one should be forced to have a health plan.
