(catherine) people in the community of potter valley are now being asked to immediately evacuate. also the cow mountain area of mendociono county is under a mandatory evacuation. east ukiah valley area has been given an evacuation warning. this comes as the containment numbers have dropped for the mendocino complex fire from 39 percent to 30 percent. (vicki) and north of us the and north of us the deadly carr fire in shasta county is also causing evacuations and several road closures. cal fire says the fire is now burning one hundred and thirty one thousand acres. 15 thousand people have been evacuated and more than one thousand homes have been destroyed. the carr fire is now one of the most destructive fires in the states history. it is 39 percent contained. (catherine) yosemite valley will be closed for a longer thanexpected period...as the ferguson fire keeps growing. the areas that have been closed for the past week will remain closed at least through sunday. the main problem - smoke from

arrested a man in sonoma county for lighting an explosivedevice under a shierff deputy's car. the deputy had his car parked in a safeway parking lot while he was inside getting lunch. then while he was inside the guerneville store he heard an explosion so loud it rattled the safeway windows. the duput ran out of tyhe store and witnesses pointed the officer in the direction of the man running away. the off duty officer was able to catch him and hold him untill help arrived. people there at the time say they saw the man throwing items under the car just before it exploded. a safeway employee near the explosion did get injured. but she was able to get help and return to work. police are not releasing the name of th (catherine) armed and dangerous... that's how concord police describe 55-year-old terrance dixon. he's wanted for the murder of 64-year-old michael downie. kron four's philippe djegal

jose state university. jackson yip and matthew brewer aren't your typical firefighters but they are doing just that. actually they're graduate students and they're fighting fires with science as part of san jose state university's "fire weather research lab."matthew brewer/student "....it we can help firefighters with our science and the date we acquire from launching or weather balloons, that's a good feeling..."the fire weather lab team recently returned from the car fire where they launched weather baloons to study the wind, fuel loads and atomspheric changes. their mobile lab is equipped with a rader-like "lidar" system that can quite literally see through the smoke and help predict fire behavior says the lab's

after a shooting in oakland last night. it happened on 40th avenue near san leandro street and 880. police arrived around 10-30 and found the man - who had been shot. he later died at the hospital. officials have identified him as a resident of stockton but his identity has not been released. an investigation is ongoing. (catherine) as bart makes repairs to its tracks..there will be some closures in the east bay this weekend. there will be construction work between the 19th street and west oakland stations. it will happen over several weekends during august and september. including labor day weekend. a-c transit will provide free bus service between the stations. (vicki) the d-m-v will now be open on saturdays at dozens of locations in the bay area. this is in effort to ease the long lines an experience we've all had an experience we've all had at the d-m-v. kron4's sara stinson has the details from daly city. the line started at the d-m-v

here in daly city two hours before the office even opened. this is just one of 60 locations that will now be open on saturdays...people i spoke with are hoping this will alleviate the long lines. every person who has visited the d-m- v has a similar experience. one woman even told me she once waited five hours.the agency blames the long lines on the new federal mandated security upgrades on driver licenses and identification cards.the new schedule will cost 220 million dollars to hire more employees to help accomodate the millions of people who will need to upgrade within the next five years. d-m-v officials hope the new extended hours will make but one woman believes saturday's lines will be just as bad, if not worse.

( vicki) police in southern california are investigating a distressing cellphone video.(catherine) it shows a man in a suit dragging an unconscious person off a train and leaving him on the platform... it reportedly happened because he didn't want to be late getting home. it happened at the wardlow station in long beach.( vicki ) tom wait has the story... but we warn you, the video may be disturbing to some viewers. a man in a suit can be seen dragging a half-naked man on a metro train platform. he then pulls the mans pants up before returning to the train to grab some items to bring outside. "will somebody please hold the door." the man on the platform appears unconscious. the man in the suit returns to the train - and whoever is recording this video has words for him. "dude just had a seizure this this white boy is gonna drag him off the damn train so he don't miss his ride." for several minutes

as the camera is rolling the man on the platform does not appear to move. the guy in the suit then tries to explain himself to whoever is recording this video. "there are a lot of people on this train that want to get home." long beach paramedics confirm they went to the wardlow metro station yesterday after getting a 911 call about a man having a seizure. he was taken to the hospital - but we do not know what condition he was in - or what caused him to become unconscious. metro released a statement that reads in part: ...obviously, this is very disturbing and we never want to see this on our system. were getting all the facts including reviewing the video from the train and the platform... whatever did happen, the whole scene was disturbing to passengers. "you would hope that people would have a little more compassion for their fellow humans." eventually the man in the suit goes out to check on the unconscious guy on the platform. detectives from the long beach police department's violent crimes detail are reviewing the video to determine whether a crime occurred. (catherine) police say a man did not get help for his young son after the boy accidentally ingested crystal meth.(vicki) detectives said the eight-year-old ate his father's meth, thinking it was cereal-- officials say it was enough to kill a grown man. natalia martinez has more. eight year old curtis collman was in second grade.seen here smiling and happy.but police say his life ended because of two things---his father and his father's meth.detective tom barker"anybody that is a parent, you know, would be emotionally upset. it kind of hits home if you have kids." according to documents on june 21, the boy told his father he was hungry.that's when detectives believe the child started eating what he thought was cereal on a plate.instead he was eating his father's
