( marty ) developing news we are following this morning... firefighters battling a wildfire in alameda county overnight. it is burning just south of sunol. the fire broke out around 8:00 last night. so far it has burned 30 acres but is just 25% contained. firefighters expect to be battling this fire all day today. ( marty ) the other big fire we are watching this morning is the mendocino complex fire burning in lake and mendocino county. new evacuations were ordered on saturday. the mendocino complex is made up of two fires... the ranch fire and the river fire. those two fires have combined to burn nearly 230-thousand acres... making it the 6th largest wildfire in california's history. they are just 32% contained this morning. more than 100 buildings have been destroyed... including at least 55 homes. more than 15-thousand structures are still being threatened this morning. take a look at

latest on the deadly carr fire burning in shasta county. the death toll has grown to 7. a p-g and e worker died saturday afternoon while working near the fire. that fire is causing evacuations and several road closures. cal fire says the fire has burned over 145-thousand acres. it is 41-percent contained. 15-thousand people have been evacuated and more than a thousand homes have been destroyed. night. it happened at the macarthur station. the suspect is identified as 27-year-old solomon espinosa. police say he is a homeless man who stays in oakland. one of the victims was stabbed in the face... the other was stabbed in the arm. both victims have been released from the hospital. a box cutter was found at the scene. bart police say that 15 to 25 officers will be working overtime to patrol trains and platforms. ( marty ) happening today... protesters will gather in berkeley for the "no to marxism in america 2" rally. and berkeley police are working to try and prevent violence at the rally . this is video from last year's protests. this year the rally at martin luther king jr. vic center park, is being held by amber gwen cummings. cummings held a "no to marxism" rally in the same park one year ago, in which a man was beaten to the ground. police are working to prevent that type of violence again this year by prohibiting items that can be

wells fargo says hundreds of customers lost their homes because of a computer glitch. a regulatory filing showed that software mistakenly denied about 625 home-owners mortgage modifications. in about 400 cases... the customers faced foreclosure. the computer error was fixed in october 2015, but had been going on for five years. wells fargo says it has set aside eight million dollars to compensate customers affected by the mistake. that u-s unemployment dropped last month.the labor department says the unemployment rate fell to three-point-nine percent in july.the economy added 157- thousand jobs duringhat time period, but that number fell below economists expectations. and, paychecks grew slightly -- up two-point-seven-percent compared to july of 2017. overall, the economy grew by four-point-one percent the second quarter of this year. that's the fastest pace in nearly four years. ( marty ) nearly 400 people in 15 states have been sickened by a parasite infection linked to mcdonald's salads. since the outbreak started in may... at least 16 people have been hospitalized. the illness can last anywhere from several days to a few months... and can be treated with antibiotics. mcdonald's has since removed the salad mix from its restaurants. ( marty ) happening now in palo alto. police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a shooting. police released this surveillance image of the man they are looking for. the shooting happened friday night in the parking lot of the safeway store on middlefield road. officers say a man in a white lexus s-u-v with paper plates.had been shot at. there is no word if he was actually hit, but police are still looking for this man this morning. ( marty ) the reward money for a missing university of iowa student continues to increase, as the search for her grows. mollie tibbetts hasn't been seen since july 18th -- when she went for an evening run in her hometown of brooklyn, iowa. local businesses and community members helped raise the reward for information on her whereabouts to 220- thousand dollars. her family and neighbors are hanging on to hope that she will be found. ( marty ) investigators have

interviewed more than 200 people as they search for tibbetts. they have also been searching nearby fields and lakes for any sign of the 20 year old. ( marty ) back here in the bay area... dozens of dogs on surfboards ... competed for the world's dog surf championship on the peninsula. 45 dogs from around the country gathered in pacifica for the competition. and the surf-off isn't all fun and games...the competition raises money for two bay area animal shelters. every dog received a well deserved treat from their owners. it was a tough outing tonight for the san francisco giants...they played the arizona diamondbacks in the desert. for a second straight night....the giants lost to the diamonbacks. the diamondbacks started scoring early in the game...and never looked back. but there was some good news tonight for giants fans. buster posey...who took a baseball to the face yesterday...was doing cardio today...and is expected to return to the field soon. this was game three out of four against arizona. the giants will play in the desert tomorrow afternoon...before heading back here to san francisco...to host the world champion houston astros.and many baseball fans are calling this oakland a's squad the "team of destiny"... and for good reason. the a's hosted the detroit tigers in oakland. and defeated them two runs to one. the a's shut down the tigers offense...and won their fifth straight win. oakland is currently the hottest team in baseball....and the squad has a great chance of making the playoffs. the a's are back in action tomorrow afternoon

against detroit. an emotional terrell owens gave his own pro football hall of fame induction speech in a special venue. the newly-minted hall of famer chose his hometown of chattanooga for his induction speech. rather than the usual canton, ohio, he spoke from the university of tennessee at chattanooga - his alma mater. owens thanked countless people....but it was clear his mother and late grandmother had the biggest influence. former coaches all praised owens for his strong worth ethic and passion for the game. and that wraps up kron sports!

( marty )a homeless man arrested in pittsburg, will be charged with arson. officials say he started a brush fire, that spread to a pallet yard on harbor street. kron four's philippe djegal reports downed power lines slowed the fire fight. (philippe) fire fighters mop up what's left of atlas pallet. stacks of pallets, a few outbuildings, and three-and-a-half acres of grass and dry brush all burned. nats- the pittsburg police department filmed the flames shortly after the fire started just after ten o'lock in the morning. contra costa county fire protection district fire marshall, robert marshall says his crews with mutual aid had the fire under control just before noon. robert marshall/fire marshall- "unfortunately, the buildings in the pallet yard were completely consumed, uh, mostly because we had some power lines that dropped, which made access to the site very difficult and unsafe."

once p-g-and-e was able to turn the power off... fire crews could better assess the situation. homes were nearby, but never threatened. robert marshall/fire marshall- "no evacuation orders. the wind is blowing away from the homes, and so, we got pretty lucky there. we didn't get any of the tress involved. there are a few trees onsite. uh some palm trees that we were concerned about for a time, but the trees didn't become involved and so we didn't have a lot of embers from this fire." marshall says this pallet yard has gone up in flames multiple times in the past. this time, fire protection district investigators, in conjunction with the pittsburg police department... arrested a homeless man, who marshall says will b e charged with arson. marshall says the man set fire to some trash nearby, which spread to the vegetation and then the pallet yard.robert marshall/fire marshall- "don't have anything that's really flamable up against your home or your business. if you do that, you

morning... kroger, the nation's largest grocery chain, will no longer be accepting a popular way to pay. kron 4's gabe slate explains why. kroger, which owns foods co, food 4 less, and ralph's grocery stores is the countries largest grocer..they are currently in a battle with visa over the fees visa charges them when a customer uses a visa credit card at checkout. the negotiation is ongoing but for now kroger just laid down the hammer. as of august 14th kroger says 21 grocery stores and five gas stations in california will no longer be accepting visa credit cards. there are five bay area foods co stores affected two in san francisco, one in oakland, one in richmond and one not on this map in pittsburg at 300 atlantic boulevard. retailers pay $90 billion in so-called swipe fees annually, according to bloomberg, and kroger says visa's rates and fees are the highest of any credit card.kroger says avoiding visas hefty fees will allow their stores to not raise prices of their goods. sound from - vanessa e. rosales ÷ foods co, director, corporate affairs "everyone

floors of gallery space, which for the non-museum fans is ideal. you don't have to spend the entire day here, it can easily be seen in a couple hours. jeff koons balloon art, the dog and the rabbit were the hit the day i was there, and the security guard told me folks do the funniest things in front of them when they're taking selfies. don't miss the infinity mirror rooms by yayoi kusama. there are two. one is actually a small mirror-lined room with lights, and staff let one person in at a time, for about a minute. the second is a mirror-lined chamber with flashing lights that you look into. general admission to the broad is free. but it's a popular place. tickets are released online on the first of every month for the following month

hungry, you'll have fun walking around grand central market. it's worth the trip, but odds are you'll be hungry before you leave. the food hall has a history that dates back to 1917, but it's enjoyed a huge popularity boost the past few years. wandering is encouraged, but if you're hunting for a certain spot, classic neon signage over the stalls make navigating easy. you'll find a little bit of everything from spices and produce to pupusas, tacos and egg salads sandwiches. and because it's just across the street, i have to mention the bradbury building. built in 1893, it's downtown's oldest commercial building, but movie buffs will recognize the zigzagging staircases from the movie blade runner. it's a quick stop. the ground floor and half a flight of stairs is open to the public, but the rest of the building is private office space. since you're already out and about in the neighborhood, it's only a five minute walk or so to the last bookstore. yes, a bookstore, but i'm going to guess you've never seen anything quite like it. an old bank building, along with the obvious reading, books have been turned into building blocks. there's a tunnel you can walk through, and windows in within book labyrinths. along with new and used books, there's a great collection of records as well. you step inside and you can't help but go wow. at the simplest level, it's a cool spot to hang out.

wells fargo says hundreds of customers lost their homes because of a computer glitch. a regulatory filing showed that software mistakenly denied about 625 home-owners mortgage modifications. in about 400 cases... the customers faced foreclosure. the computer error was fixed in october 2015, but had been going on for five years. wells fargo says it has set aside eight million dollars to compensate customers affected by the mistake.

the mendocino complex is made up of two fires... the ranch fire and the river fire. those two fires have combined to burn more than 254-thousand acres. more evacuations were issued on saturday. they are just 33% contained this morning. more than 120 buildings have been destroyed... including at least 68 homes. more than 15-thousand structures are still being threatened this morning. ( marty )a homeless man arrested in pittsburg, will be charged with arson. officials say he started a brush fire, that spread to a pallet yard on harbor street. kron four's philippe djegal reports downed power lines slowed the fire fight. county fire protection district fire marshall, robert marshall says his crews with mutual aid had the fire under control just before noon. robert marshall/fire marsll- "unfortunately, the buildings in the pallet yard were completely consumed, uh, mostly because we had some power lines that dropped, which made access to the site very difficult and unsafe." once p-g-and-e was able to turn the power off... fire crews could better assess the situation. homes were nearby, but never threatened. robert marshall/fire marshall- "no evacuation orders. the wind is blowing away from the homes, and so, we got pretty lucky there. we didn't get any of the tress involved. there are a few trees onsite. uh some palm trees that we were concerned about for a time, but the trees didn't become involved and so we didn't have a lot of embers from this fire." marshall says this pallet yard has gone up in flames multiple times in the past. this time, fire protection district investigators, in conjunction with the pittsburg police department... arrested a

the water when a good samaritan came to their rescue and was able to pull them to a beach. a c-h-p helicopter was called to the scene and air lifted all three people to safety where they were treated by firefighters. all of them are expected to be okay. ( marty ) also new this morning... police in vacaville are looking for two men who robbed a woman sitting next to them at a restaurant. the incident was caught on camera. the woman was talking to a friend and did not realize that the man stuck his hand in her bag and stole her wallet. police are asking anybody who might recognize these men to come forward. ( marty ) happening now in palo alto. police are searching for a man wanted in connection with a shooting. police released this surveillance image of the man they are looking for. the shooting happened friday night in the parking lot of the safeway store on middlefield road. officers say a man in a white lexus s-u-v with paper plates.had been shot at. there is no word if he was actually hit, but police are still looking for this man this morning.

( marty )this morning we continue to track the mendocino complex fire burning in lake and mendocino counties. the mendocino complex is made up of two fires... the ranch fire and the river fire. those two fires have combined to burn more than 254- thousand acres. more evacuations were issued on saturday. they are just 33% contained this morning. more than 120 buildings have been destroyed... including at least 68 homes. more than 15-thousand structures are still being threatened this morning. ( marty )a homeless man arrested in pittsburg, will be charged with arson. officials say he started a brush fire, that spread to a pallet yard on harbor street. kron four's philippe djegal reports downed power lines slowed the fire fight.

(philippe) fire fighters mop up what's left of atlas pallet. stacks of pallets, a few outbuildings, and three-and-a-half acres of grass and dry brush all burned. nats- the pittsburg police department filmed the flames shortly after the fire started just after ten o'lock in the morning. contra costa county fire protection district fire marshall, robert marshall says his crews with mutual aid had the fire under control just before noon. robert marshall/fire marshall- "unfortunately, the buildings in the pallet yard were completely consumed, uh, mostly because we had some power lines that dropped, which made access to the site very difficult and unsafe." once p-g-and-e was able to turn the power off... fire crews could better assess the situation. homes were nearby, but never threatened. robert marshall/fire marshall- "no evacuation orders. the wind is blowing away from the homes, and so, we got pretty lucky there. we didn't get any of the tress involved. there are a few trees onsite. uh some palm trees that we were concerned about for a time, but the trees didn't become involved and so we didn't have a lot of embers from this
