us. lot of news to tell you about. >> let's get right to it. here are tonight's top stories. >> matt lauer's divorce settlement. a source tells "e.t." the former today anchor has agreed to pay his estranged wife $20 million. what began as a very heated nultous relationship. lauer who recently made a rare public appearance at a hamptons' paddleboarding charity event. lauer fired from the today show nine months ago, called some of the claims against him is not true. what's next for the disgraced anchor? matt's first wife is predicting, quote, he'll find love again. "e.t." spoke exclusively to nancy alspaugh, who was married to lauer from 1981 to 1988.

she conceded, "matt has made mistakes," but "i don't think he's been given a chance to defend himself and i hope one day soon he will be able to tell his story." she says matt's been focusing on his kids, and, quote, i see him starting a new life and career. we asked one of lauer's accusers about that so-called second chance. this former staffer said they had a brief sexual relationship when she was a production assistant. she said, quote, hopefully he has used this time to consider how he abused his power to prey on the vulnerable. >> now to the queen of soul, aretha franklin. who is gravely ill at her home in detroit. >> we've learned more about aretha's condition. here are the latest details. a family friend tells "e.t." that franklin remains at home receiving hospice care and her care is stable.
