be heading to san francisco. chp sgt. cruz correa picks it up from theresotsgt. correa say gabriel mora's vehicle was disabled during the sideshow after a solo collision on the bridge. he was the proverbial sitting duck when the chp arrivedsot gabriel mora is facing several charges including, reckless driving, driving while unlicensed, motor vehicle speed contest, delaying, resisting or obstructing a peace officer and providing false information. his mustang is on a 30 day hold at the impound at cost of $80 a day, plus a $291-dollar tow fee. the chp would like to make room for sideshow vehicles in this garagesotin san francisco haaziq madyun kron4news

(vicki) bart is considering replacing their fare gates to try and keep fare cheats from gaming the system. the transit agency estimates that they lose roughly 25 million dollars a year from people jumping the gates in order to avoid paying their fair share. kron4's maureen kelly reports that replacing all 600 gates systemwide could cost upwards of 150 million dollars. it wasn't hard to see examples

of people jumping the fare gates....or squeezing thru while standing at san francisco's civic center station.....even as a line of photographers were there to film it. the transit agency has rolled out different solutions to try to address this costly problem.....incl uding raising the fencing inside some stations.....and putting alarms and warning signs on the emergency exits. this year they also rolled out teams of fare inspectors to issue citations....and now the are launching a study to see what their options are to put in new...tougher to beat gates. the transit agency hopes that by cracking down on fare cheats they will also improve the overall safety of the system.take a look at how bart's fare gates compare to new york city's heavily gated subway system turnstiles.....w hich you can see on the right hand side of the screen.bart spokesperson alicia trost says that study will look at many options. there isn't anyone model that we feel is the perfect fit for us, we aren't looking at anyone agency that we feel like it's a great model for us we're just looking at everything we want to make sure it actually physically fits in our stations but the statics a right that we could still fit a lot of people very quickly through it there is one system right now that we feel oh that's it that's part of the study we really want to know what's out there, how much it costs what are the benefits, what is it look like more writers feel about itwhat they

(grant) police in san francisco are investigating a shooing in the mission distrcit...which sent a teenager to the hospital. the shooting got called in just after 1:00 sunday morning. police found a 16 year old boy on capp street near 18th street...he had been shot. three suspects approached the victim...one said something to him, then shot him, according to police. paramedics took the boy to the hospital...he is expected to be okay. tonight, police are still looking for the suspects. (grant) we know know exactly what killed a firefigher from utah who died a week ago while fighting the mendocino complex fire near clear lake.(vicki) battalion chief matthew burchett died last week from falling tree debris after a retardant drop on california's largest-ever wildfire. three other firefighters had minor injuries. california fire officals and calling for an immediate corrective action, saying firefighters must remain clear of areas with overhead hazards during retardant drops. funeral

services for the 42-year-old burchett are being held today.. burchett leaves behind a wife and 7-year-old son. (grant) and good news for those fighting the ferguson fire. the deadly wildfire that has been burning for more than a month is now fully contained. two firefighters were killed and the fire caused closures at yosemite national park. officials say firefighters will continue to work in the area and some islands of unburned vegetation will continue to ignite but they are are not a threat to containment lines. (terisa)so far so good... and the district is having a say in this as well... more on that in a moment... so - in 2016 , some students banned together and approached the district, here in alameda... they believed that girls were being wrongfully discriminated against, because the dress code, they said had more rues for girls then boys. so after a long process, many meetings and hearings, the district changed it's rules - basically stopping the practice of saying shorts are too short, or a student is showing too much skin. it used to be that teachers could measure the lenght of shorts or tops... if it was found a person was breaking the rules, then that was an infraction and change or wait for clothes to be brought from home... that created some embarassment for many students.... now, this year, there is more flexibility - and give and take. here is waht students and the district is saying on this day one of the new policy

(grant) citizens from across the state gathered at the capitol to speak out against a controversial water plan. (vicki) sacramento bureau reporter ashley zavala explains who feels most at risk by the proposed plan. hundreds of farmers, students, lawmakers, citizens and city leaders gathered on the capitol steps against what they're calling a water grab. (grant) police are sending out a warning to neglegent drivers in the east bay. a black bmw... racing another car at high speeds... crashed into a prius. you can see the extensive damage here. the collision happened yesterdeay afternoon on bear creek road by san pablo dam road in orinda. crews transported a 30 year old female inside the bmw to the hospital with life threatening injuries. bother drivers have minor injuries. police believe the driver of the bmw may have been under the influence of alchohol but are still investigating. (grant) and a reminder for people to take bart in oakland. buses will be replacing bart trains in oakland this week due to track improvements. you can see on this map a bus will take you from 19th street oakland station to the west oakland station. crews will also be doing construction on the macaurthur station. the repair work is being funded by voter

approved measure rr.. ii(vicki) police found the body of a missing man in guerneville. friends reported him missing when he did not show up for dinner while they were all vacationing at a home on river-side drive. sonoma county sheriff's volunteer search and rescue dive team, the russian river and monte rio fire departments swam the russian river and found the man's body around noon today in 12 to 15 feet of water. his identity is not being released at this time. (vicki) vallejo police say a woman found a dead man under her truck today. police believe the truck actually struck the man somewhere on borges lane near agnes court and then became lodged under the truck. the driver then dragged the man another three quarters of a mile to her house. the 28 year old woman is cooperating with investigators and has a suspended driver's license and an outstanding warrant for theft. additional cooling is expected across the bay area along with another round of widespread overnight and morning low clouds. with a deeper marine layer, expect patchy fog and coastal drizzle to continue as

(grant) 4 your money tonight senator sherrod brown has introduced a bill to crack down on overdraft fees.(vicki) he says banks use the fees to take advantage of vulnerable consumers -- but critics say the bill could hurt the people it's meant to help. our washington correspondent jessica smith reports. each year, americans pay billions of dollars in overdraft fees. consumers have to "opt-in" for overdraft protection --- agreeing to pay a fee of about $30, instead of having their card declined. senator sherrod brown says some banks are using the fees to exploit consumers.

limit other fees. it would force banks to process transactions in a way that minimizes fees.and it would make sure banks are more transparent about overdraft protection. david williams, with the taxpayers protection alliance agrees that banks need to be more transparent. but he says banning or limiting overdraft fees will have unintended consequences. : critics argue the bill will hurt low-income people -- because people living paycheck- to-paycheck are often willing to pay an overdraft fee in order to cover urgent expenses.
