week 3 of the preseason is often considered the most exciting of the exhibition slate... as the starters get significant playing time.... so to the faithful, that means you can look forward to a heavy dose of jimmy garoppolo.. the franchise qb and the rest of the 49ers...working out in santa clara today ahead of saturday's game against the colts.... in their last preseason appearance, the niners suffered a 16-13 loss to the texans, but jimmy g looked sharp....going 10-for-12 for just over 130- yards with a touchdown and a pick... despite his efficiency, kyle shanahan wasn't entirely pleased with the execution from the first- team offense and jimmy g echoes those sentiments. ### "i felt similarly. there were just sloppy things at times. there were some good things that we took out of the game, but we hold ourselves to a high standard. we are trying to be perfect on everything and i think it's good to have
6:49 pm
that mindset.""i think it's very important that players, coaches, everyone, we are creatures of habit, and preseason we're all over the place. but, you want them to get into that routine to where all seven days are all kind of groundhog day over and over. so, you want them to know what they're going to expect week 1." it's already 3 weeks into the preseason... and the 49ers former safety eric reid is still without a job... it's really now at the point, where you can't dance around whether or not it's because he's been so involved with colin kapernick and the national anthem protests...but reid told reporters during stanford's pro day earlier this year that he would find different ways to be active rather than during the anthem....however, john lynch and kyle shanahan have both been vocal about why they decided not to bring him back after last season... for the niners it's on the table... but, shanahan was asked today.... if it would actually be an option.... "if any really good player wants to come in here on a minimum deal and have a good player to be a backup, that'd be unbelievable. i don't think that's what eric wants. i told you the reason we decided to

go that direction is because we made a tough decision, but we had to do it. we went with tartt. we thought that was the right way to go. you can't give a lot of money to backups, and that's what he would be if he came here. but, i like eric. eric is a good player, he's a good person. that'd be great if we could add him to that role. i don't think he would be that interested in it." say what you want.... but marshawn lynch is a marketing genius... the less he said in interviews, the more attention he seemed to get... and it continues to pay off.. we all know about his love for skittles, but now the raiders star running back has his face on the packaging....forget wheaties boxes... marshawn lynch will be featured on the wrapper of his favorite candy..calling it marshawn's pack... it comes in a share size... maybe the king size packs are to come...or maybe they can call them beast mode size... so you can't buy them in stores right now.. but if you are itching to get your hands on some... 24-hundred fans can win a pack on his
