(rob live) the student was released unharmed but not before he was robbed at gunpoint here at this 7-11. the perpetrator remains at large and the campus is a bit on edge after this happened on just the second day of school the hold-up occurred around 2:30 wednesday afternoon. the unidentified student tells police he was confronted and robbed at gunpoint by a man at this popular 7-11, just across the street from the university's busy south garage. the brazen, daylight crime putting a damper on the evening plans of sophomore

(vicki) u.s. representative duncan hunter and his wifehave pleaded not guilty to charges that they illegallyused his campaign account for personal expenses... (vicki) a big story tonight... joseph deangelo, the man dubbed the 'golden state killer', was back in court today. he's accused of dozens of crimes spanning across five counties through the bay area to the central valley and southern california. sacramento

bureau reporter ashley zavala was there in the courtroom and joins us live with what victims had to say about the latest developments in the case. ashely? ((ashley))some of the victims we spoke with today say they're happy that the cases against him have been consolidated .and will all be tried as one in sacramento...b ut they say they hope the 72-year-old will live long enough to go through trial. ((pkg))a noticeably thinner joseph deangelo sat expressionless behind bars in court thursday.he did not enter a plea for the 13 murder charges and 13 other rape- related crimes of which he's accused. (nat pop)after the quick court setting, deangelo's public defender walked past reporters, refusing to comment. coming out of the courtroom.. a line of victims and victims advocates made their way through the hallway, one woman holding up a sign that read "remember the victims." "it was really tough to hear them go line by line, crime by crime.."jennifer carole's father and step mother were

murdered by the suspected golden state killer in ventura in 1980. ((jennifer carole - victim)) "my heart is pounding right now, i'm going to be shaking on my ride home. it made it very concrete, very legal, very tangible, we've never really heard the charges like that before."carole says victims have been told it could take 5-7 years before deangelo goes to trial. "what time he has left, he better heal with his family, cause that's all you got. the rest of us have moved on, the survivors have all done remarkably well, they are a happy group of people, each with their own struggles. so i feel like his story is pretty much done, this is it." (grant) two robbers have been charged with the death of the owner of a vietnamese resturant. police say surveillance cameras show paul paez and donte holloway trying to rob and then attacking cindy le outside of her alameda restaurant. in addition to murder, paez and holloway are charged with two special circumstance clauses: murder by lying in wait and murder during the course of a robbery. both men are being held at the santa rita jail in dublin without bail. (vicki) in the south bay-- a man is accused of inappropriately touching a young girl during a concert... and tonight police are looking for more victims. they say 25-year-old jordan williams inappropriately touched the 17-year-old during a concernt at shoreline ampitheatre in mountain view. it happened on the lawn area back on august 17th during a charlie puth concert. the victim told police that williams may have

inappropriately touched other women in the area. officers are asking anyone with information to please come forward. (vicki) a cafe in san jose catches fire early this morning... and investigators quickly deemed it as "suspicious". kron 4's sara stinson explains what happened. the san jose fire department is investigating the fire that started over night at cafe paradise as a possible arson. take a look at this map so you can see where this restaurant is located ln at the intersection of old tully and monterey road right near the santa clara fairgrounds. fire crews responded to the one alarm fire at around three in the morning. you cant see much damage on the outside of the building because most of the damage is on the roof. captain daniel vega says it was a small exterior fire. and that they have responded to several fires at this restaurant before. investigators are still trying to nail down the cause and origin and confir whether or not this was on fact arson. an employee of the restaurant says they plan to reopen on monday after they repair the damages of the fire. in sj sara stinson kron 4 news.

(grant) on the peninsula... police need help finding the man who posed as a rideshare driver and sexually assaulted a woman in san mateo. this is a sketch of the man. the assault happened near highway 92 around 7:00 tuesday night. police say the man took the woman to a secluded area and sexually assaulted her. the woman was then able to get away and call 9-1-1. (vicki) a big story tonight... a preliminary autopsy says iowa college student mollie tibbetts was killed by multiple sharp force injuries. the 20-year-old from the bay area went missing last month while out for a run. but remains believed to be hers were found this week.eds of people gathered at a memorial for tibbets -- including her brother. jalyn souchek reports. friends and family of mollie tibbetts coming out to honor her at a vigil on the

this time...russ johnson and janell clark may not have known of each other's existence.but fate had them meet.and one date led to a bucket list. "this trip was one of our very first conversations when we first met."sailing on the "blue moon" from san francisco to hawaii...check it off...and now another feat."it'll be our first hurricane together." minutes into our interview... an alert from the us coast guard of honolulu."in preparation for potential aid, navigation, outages associated with hurricane lane." so the hurricane prep begins. 6. californians wanting a plastic straw with their drink might soon need to ask for one. today assembly lawmakers sent governor brown a bill that would prohibit restaurants from handing out plastic straws without a customer request. fast

food restaurants would be exempt from the bill. california cities can already adopt even stricter rules... santa cruz has already banned the use of plastic straws in restauarants altogether. a similar ban goes into effect in san francsico next year. (grant) bustillos called his wife carrie who was in the bay area as he drove out through thick smoke and flames.. but then he dropped his phone as he turned and saw everything in the truck starting to catch fire. bustillos years of training kicked in and he got out of the truck and under an abandoned bulldozer bringing some loose dirt up around him. when it was all over steve crawled out and was picked up by a passing calfire truck. eventually making his way to the hospital where he asked the doctor for a cell phone before they sedated him.

like you almost gasp for air at that point.">(grant) while most of their neighbors homes were destroyed in the fire,, the bustillos home was surprisingly untouched. so they lost the important physical things because they were all packed in the truck. but the couple says they can keep moving forward as long as they still have each other.
