a big story were following this morning... bart is decreasing security patrols on its trains. the transit system increased security after a number of violent attacks over the past few months. officers had been working 10-hour days... 6-days a week. but now bart is cutting back. kron 4's michelle kingston reports live from the walnut creek station with more. michellebart says emergency staffing was only for three weeks ... and now whether or not officers want to work overtime is up to them. vowhich means -- you'll likely see less officers on bart.the emergency staffing went into effect after three people were stabbed to death at bart

stations in less than a week in july.first -- a 51 year old man was assaulted at the pleasant hill station, later dying from his injuries.then a 47 year old man was attacked at the bay fair station and died. voand 18 year old nia wilson was stabbed and killed at the macarthur station.all the attackers have been arrested. bart says they are no longer forcing their officers to work six day 10 hour shifts, but rather officers who want the overtime will get it.michelle bart says they are looking to fill about two dozen vacancies on the force ... but for now, again, yo'll likely be seeing during your commutes.live in walnut creek michelle kingston kron 4 news thanks michelle. ( marty ) police have arrested the man accused of stabbing a passenger on a bart train at the macarthur station last saturday. 59-year-old jamarr coleman was arrested yesterday. police say, he got into an argument with a man on a warm -springs bound train.. and stabbed him in the thumb.

nobody else was hurt in the incident. ( marty ) a violent struggle on a muni train in san francisco... after a young man is accused of playing loud music. you can see he is nearly thrown off that train after getting into a fight with two other passengers. it happened around 8-45 thursday night on the n-judah line in the sunset neighborhood. kron four's philippe djegal talked with investigators who say everyone involved declined to press charges. (philippe)nats- why an argument over loud music turned into this violent tumble isn't clea..no name/passenger- "uh, it's pretty bad." but the person who posted it online says the incident started with the passenger in the blue short-sleeved shirt tackling the young man in dark clothing being pushed out of the second car of a two car muni train.whitney taylor/rider- "i think the level of aggression that they showed against that person was, is excessive." the older passenger in grey got

involved after the man in blue had already put the young man in a headlock. passengers in the background could be heard telling the men to stop. sudie sides/rider- "you try to reason, you talk to the driver, you move, you get off. those are, those are your options. but you don't engage." police say the incident happened at around 8-45 thursday night on the n-judah line. paul rose with s-f-m-t-a says the train was moving for most of the fight... but was stopped when the two passengers tried to push the younger man out.paul rose/sfmta- "we find the video very disturbing, and that's why we're working with the police department to fully investigate the matter. we've turned over our surveillance video from the train over to the police department to fully investigate this matter, um, and get to the bottom of what happened. rose says playing loud music on a train is a violation... which can result in a passenger being asked to leave a train, but not forced to pay a fine or be arrested. in this case, passengers notified the train operator about the fight... who reported it

airlines flight out of oakland caused so much confusion and fear ... that the flight had to be delayed. kron four's terisa estacio explains why. "this all started to unfold early this morning when a mom and her teenage daughter came here ot oakland international airort for flight to maui" settled into their seats, the teenager opened up some home work - and shared a picture with her mom on the subject matter.... this was the picture. it is a crime scene, not real, it is a mannequin. ... however, the problem cropped up when the teen not only airdropped the picture to her moms iphone - but 15 other passengers... not really knowing what to think of the picture... the passengers with this picture staring them in the face... alerted the flight crew. sgt.

ray kelly. the flight crew believeed there could be some kind of threat, so they told captain and out of the abundance of caution he returned the plane to the game and they family was met by our detectives. the alameda county sheriffs departemnt policies the airport.... spokesperson sgt. ray kelly says deputies quickly realized the perceived threat was just mistake. kelly. the photo was part of a mock crime scene in class in a biology class she was doing. she immediately owned up to it, when the deputies got their she was actually crying. we tried to console her and say she did not do anything wrong. as far as hawaiian airlines... they sent us this statement quote... to resume the flight as quickly as poosilbe and minimize the inconvenience to our geusts, the teenager and the famil ywere re-booked on a later flight while the incient was investigated. kelly. do you think the pilot did the right thing? yeah. we do, we feel it is better to air on the side of caution.terisa estacio, reporting. at the oakland airport, terisa estacio kron four news ( marty ) ( marty ) another ( marty ) another mishap on that

same flight headed out of oakland to maui yesterday. hawaiian airlines says, a can of pepper spray went off inside the plane... requiring an emergency response for several people on board. 12- passengers and 3- flight attendants were treated for respiratory issues related to the incident... before being released. officials say, a passenger illegally brought the pepper spray on board ... although the release of the spray is thought to have been accidental. ( marty ) san francisco police arrested the teenager accused of firing a gun inside a balboa high school classroom. the student was booked into the juvenile hall on several felony charges including suspicion of assault with a firearm, and possession of ammunition on school grounds. the incident happened on thursday.after the gun went off, the high school

immediately went on lockdown, and all students were kept in classrooms behind locked doors. no one was hurt. ( marty ) a controversial wildfire prevention bill now heads to governor jerry brown's desk. state lawmakers passed the bill last night. it would allow utilities like p-g and e to pass on some of the costs of wildfires to customers ... as long as companies show they reasonably maintained their equipment. opponents of the bill are worried utility rates will go up. the bill would also allocate one-billion dollars to forest management and public safety. no word this morning on whether the governor will sign the ( marty ) starting today ... buses will be replacing bart trains at oakland stations while crews work on the tracks. it will go on through the weekend. you can see on this map... a bus will take riders from the 19th street oakland station ... to the west oakland coming up... construction at the new warriors arena is coming along. we'll take a

from moving into their new arena. this is quadcopter four video that shows the progress being made at the chase center in san francisco's mission bay. kron4's maureen kelly takes us on a tour inside the big construction project. over there at center court it's where the first jumpshot will be for the warriors first game at chase center. construction on the new home of the dub nation is now more than halfway complete. the erection of the steele that will support the arena's roof is nearly finished and they

are two weeks away from the topping off ceremony for the 135 foot tall structure. outside you can start to see the white facade that will cover most of the chase center. we're at really we're at the stage now where you really were you can see everything coming together which i think is exciting for all the people that been working on this for six years to try to imagine what it would look like when we got to the stage..roughly a thousand construction workers a day have been at work on this privately funded project....the cost of which is to projected to be over a billion dollars. in addition to warriors games, the 18- thousand seat arena also expected to host 200 or so events like concerts and conventions. uber is planning to move into the two office buildings also under construction on the campus ...there's also 100-thosand feet of retail space which is expected to be taken up mostly by restaurants . here's a rendering of an aerial view of what it will look like once finished.....which also depicts the 5 and a half acre waterfront park that's part of the project. the third street plaza will be the venue's main entrance.on the facade right there right there a large

hawaiian airlines flight out of oakland caused so much confusion and fear ... that the flight had to be delayed. kron four's terisa estacio explains why. "this all started to unfold early this morning when a mom and her teenage daughter came here ot oakland international airort for flight to maui" settled into their seats, the teenager opened up some home work - and shared a picture with her mom on the subject matter.... this was the picture. it is a crime scene, not real, it is a mannequin. ... however, the problem cropped up when the teen not only airdropped the picture to her moms iphone - but 15 other passengers... not really knowing what to think of the picture... the passengers with this picture staring them in the face... alerted the flight crew. sgt. ray kelly. the flight crew believeed there could be some kind of threat, so they told captain and out of the abundance of caution he

( marty ) back here locally.... a mix- up on a hawaiian airlines flight out of oakland caused so much confusion and fear ... that the flight had to be delayed. kron four's terisa estacio explains why. "this all started to unfold early this morning when a mom and her teenage daughter came here ot oakland international airort for flight to maui" settled into their seats, the teenager opened up some home work - and shared a picture with her mom on the subject matter.... this was the picture. it is a crime scene, not real, it is a mannequin. ... however, the problem cropped up when the

francisco's mission bay. kron4's maureen kelly takes us on a tour inside the big construction project. over there at center court it's where the first jumpshot will be for the warriors first game at chase center. construction on the new home of the dub nation is now more than halfway complete. the erection of the steele that will support the arena's roof is nearly finished and they are two weeks away from the topping off ceremony for the 135 foot tall structure. outside you can start to see the white facade that will cover most of the chase center. we're at really we're at the stage now where you really were you can see everything coming together which i think is exciting for all the people that been working on this for six years to try to imagine what it would look like when we got to the stage..roughly a thousand construction workers this privately funded k on project....the cost of which is to projected to be over a billion dollars. in addition to warriors games, the 18- thousand seat arena also expected to host 200 or so events like concerts and conventions. uber is planning to move into the two office buildings also under construction on the campus ...there's also 100-thosand feet of retail space which is

cancer and she shares her story and tips. what is basal cell carcinoma? á cancer of the skin is the most common of all types of cancer. á basal cell carcinoma accounts for 8 out of 10 skin cancers and usually develops on areas exposed to the sun, such as the head, face and neck, but they can occur anywhere. á it affects people of all ages. á grows slowly and it's very rare for basal cell carcinoma to spread to nearby lymph nodes or to distant parts of

the body. á it can invade and cause significant destruction of surrounding tissues and bone beneath the skin, it is still considered malignant. á over 50% of the people diagnosed with one basal cell cancer will develop a new skin cancer within five years. treatment á mohs technique, a complex microscopicall y-controlled surgery also known as chemosurgery. it was named after the general surgeon who invented it, frederick e. mohs. in this technique, the surgeon removes a very thin layer of the skin (including the tumor). á the surgeon/pathologist maps, freezes and cuts the tissue, then examines the sample under a microscope. á if cancer cells are still present, the next layer is

2. avoid tanning beds, sunlamps, uv nail dryer lamps. tanning lamps are not harmless. they give out uva and usually uvb rays as well which can both cause long-term skin damage and skin cancer. 3. avoid harmful chemicals. exposure to certain chemicals, such as arsenic, can increase your risk of skin cancer. arsenic is a heavy metal found naturally in well water in some areas, pesticides and herbicides, some medications, herbal remedies, and in certain occupations. 4. be extra cautious if you're a man. men are about twice as likely as women to have basal cell cancers which can be attributed to higher levels of sun exposure. 5. get your daily dose of vitamin d from your diet. recent research has found that vitamin d has many health benefits. it's made naturally in the body when uv rays from sunlight strike the skin and is the primary source of vitamin d for the majority of people, other than supplements. fatty fish (i.e., salmon, tuna, and mackerel) and fortified foods (i.e., milk, ready-to-eat breakfast cereals, orange juice, provide most of the vitamin d in the american diet.
