(philippe)nats- "right here -- all this." elias beltran serves as vice president of spartan little league in san jose....nats- "i've gotta checkout this sprinkler system again." he's been a volunteer coach and groundskeeper where the kids play baseball at the tully community ballfields for going on eight years now.elias beltran/spartan little league- "and, the homeless have been here for almost all eight years, and it's gotten worse and worse." on at least one occasion... beltran says a homeless man exposed himself to the children.nats- theives have broken into storage boxes, the snack shack and bathrooms. a tent is set-

up next to one of the dugouts... and, whenever the police are called, beltran says the homeless dispurse, but always evenutally return. some of the homeless help clean, but beltran says others do not.elias beltran/spartan little league- "pipes, uh, syringes, uh, feces, we have to clean-up with a power washer. so, that's just extra work for us, which is, we all know is volunteer. little league is volunteer. its not - - nobody gets paid for nothing." when elias and his grandkids joined the league he says there were 25 teams. that number is now down to 15, declining rapidly over the past two years. a local councilmember is holding a meeting friday with city staff and league parents with hopes of developing a plan to fix the problem.elias beltran/spartan little league- "i've had some bad health issues, but i keep going because i like to see the smile on the kids' face. i love it. you can't take it off. you know, i'll keep on doing it for as long as i can." league sign-ups are in november -- and beltran wants to keep the fields in shape and safe well before then... hopefully, encouraging kids to eventually come out for tryouts and start playing games in march. in san jose, philippe djegal, kron four news. redding is burning out of control tonight. the so called "delta" fire is burning along i-5. it tripled in size overnight-- and is now more than 15-thousand acres. truckers were forced to abandon their vehicles as flames roared up hillsides. about 17 big-rigs were abandoned and at least four caught fire. the fire has shut down several miles of i-5... and there's no word when it will reopen. officials say the fire was caused by a human... but didn't specify if it was arson or an accident. (catherine) a 14-year-old girl is behind bars... after a random stabbing in downtown san francisco. it happened outside the nordstrom rack store at 5th and market yesterday. police say the 17-year-old victim was walking

out of a store... when a 14-year-old girl walked up and stabbed her in the chest with scissors. she was taken into custody shortly afterwards. police say the victim does not know the suspect-- the stabbing appears to be random. the victim was taken to the hospital but will be okay. the govenor brown signs the bill into law it will go into effect january 2021...in san francisco haaziq madyun kron4news (catherine) a big story we're following... a man opened fire in downtown cincinnati today..in a shooting that left four people dead....including the gunman. it happened at the headquarters for a bank -- 'fifth third bancorp.' two people are hospitalized with gunshot wounds. investigators have identified the slain gunman as 29- year-old omar santa perez. they're trying to figure out the motive. they say santa perez never worked for the bank... he was carrying a handgun and nearly 200 rounds of ammunition.... a quick police response is being credited for preventing more deaths. police say four officers opened fire on the gunman...who died at the scene. the three scene. the three men he shot ranged in age from 25 to 64.

(grant) oakland international airport has become a test site for a new 3-d scanner at the security checkpoint. kron four's terisa estacio explains why this could be a win for passengers. (take pkg) terisa estacio. this new 3d scanner is not only the latest state of the art technology, but tsa officials say it will imporve on safety and seed up lines. adrienne marquez, lead transportation security officer. we believe it will help make it faster, the lines, also improve safety eventually. it can scan all around in 3d. oakland international airport is one of 15 in the country testing out the new equipment. marquez. what are the red light and blue light mean. the red light indicates the machine is on, the blue light is just prettythe other scanners at oak use 2-d imagining. tsa says it is

(grant) if you registered to vote at the d-m-v... you may need to correct your information before election day. the d-m-v says it incorrectly processed thousands of registrations.(catherine) this comes as the d-m-v is already under intense scrutiny forlong wait times. capitol bureau reporter ashley zavala joins us live from sacramento.. ashley - how is the d-m-v responding? ((ashley)) in the same week the d-m-v reported to lawmakers that wait times at offices have decreased... the d-m-v now admits it botched tens of thousands of voter registrations. ((pkg)) the dmv says 23,000 voter registrations have been mishandled by employees. the errors were caused by technicians when they had more than one

customer record open on their computer screens. that resulted in mistakes on voter preferences... including language, political party and vote by mail options.((on the phone: assemblyman jim patterson)) "these mistakes are tampering with the fundamental right of californians to register for the party or non party of their preference and to have their voter registration untouched by the government." assemblymember jim patterson - a vocal critic of dmv management - is pushing for answers. dmv officials say they're working to correct the problem - but would not take questions on camera about the issue. they did however speak about a reduction in office wait times. ((jaime garza- department of motorvehicles)) : "we created a command center here at head quarters to see what's taking place at each of the offices in real time. so we're monitoring, asessing how well we're doing and then adjusting to figre out how to bring those wait times down." the dmv told lawmakers this week wait times are down on average 30 minutes statewide.

california high school in san ramon. and we just learned extra officers will be on campus for a second day tomorrow. kron 4's lydia pantazes reports. there will be an increase in police here at california high school because of that threat. a threat investigators believe came from somewhere in europe. yesterday, the san ramon police and the fbi received a report about an anonymous message posted online threatening the california high school campus.no suspect has been identified, and although the post was anonymous, the fbi have been able to link the ip address to europe.in a letter to parents, school administrators are thanking the person who came forward to report the post. they are reminding the community "if you see something, or know something, say something." (catherine) in the north bay... santa rosa police have arrested a teenager in connection with a robbery.. saying a police dog named "riko" - helped. officers got a call yesterday that the

"are you supporting napa after the fire? totally, i'm so happy to see that it's back!" northern california is burning out of control tonight. it is called the "delta" fire and it is burning along interstate-5 near redding. it tripled in size overnight-- and is now more than 15- thousand acres. truckers were forced to abandon their vehicles... as flames roared up hillsides. about 17 big- rigs were abandoned .. and at least four caught fire. the fire has shutdown several miles of i-5... and there is no word when it will reopen. officials say, the fire was caused by a human... but did not specify whether it was arson or an accident.
