families there's not enough staff and they don't know what to do. and there's an evacuation binder that no one looked at. and so these women basically had to make it up as they went along.the document paints a shockingly dysfunctional picture. nvestigators say staff couldn't find keys to emergency vehicles.. they couldn't get residents downstairs.and eventually.. administrators left with a few residents in their cars.. and essentially didn't follow-up with who they left behind. kathryn stebner/attorney for families in my opinion this would have happened at other facilities.. having done these cases for over 30 years.. i knew that a facility such as this was not going to be ready for something like what happened up in sonoma county. there is not enough people. there's not enough trained staff. and the focus of all of these types of facilities is to put money into the building, to make the places pretty..but not people put money into resident safety.

( robin )the attorney for the families tells kron 4 there are not enough regulations for these types of facilities. she says the requirements for evacuation preparations and emergency protocol are just weak... and these cases could now change the way senior facilities are ran. investigators say a human started the fire, but they're not saying if it was intentional. ( robin )cal- fire has already burned through its budget for fighting fires this year. now the agency is requesting more money to make it through this intense wildfire season. this is the earliest request in 11 years. cal fire started out this year with 439-million this year with 439-million dollars... they have spent most of that, and only have 11-million dollars left. right now... they're asking for an additional 234- million dollars to continue battling fires burning in california. if the request gets approved and it does not carry them through the year cal fire leaders say, they'll have to ask for more money.
