( lydia ) ( lydia ) a big story this morning... san francisco police are investigating a shooting in the marina district. the shooting happened early thursday morning on moulton street in the marina district. a restaurant worker was taking

out the trash at the end of his shift when he was approached by a thief. that thief demanded money and then started shooting. many who live nearby say they've installed security cameras because crime has gone up. ( lydia ) police say the victim is expected to survive. so far... no arrests have been made. right now...officers are looking into surveillence video from nearby businesses. ( lydia ) happening now... the delta fire has now burned more than 31-thousand acres in shasta county. flames have also shut down a 45-mile strecth of i-5 in both directions through the weekend. detours around the closed sections can add anywhere from 3 to 8 hours of additional drive time. more than 19-hundred firefighters are working around the clock... but containment on this fire is at zero. this fire has been burning since wednesday.

investigators say it was caused by a person... right now we don't know if it was arson or an accident. ( lydia ) a house fire in daly city kills a 76-year-old man. the fire was reported just before 6 last night on muirwood drive. at least one other person was displaced. the home suffered heavy smoke damage throughout... and heavy fire throughout... and heavy fire damage to one room. the cause of the fire is under investigation... but arson is ánot ( lydia ) in the south bay... a community is in mourning... after a 28-year- old father was killed in front of his san jose home. family, friends and activists marched along his street... demanding justice. frankie santos junior was stabbed on raymond avenue early sunday morning. police are still looking for his attacker and for a dark g-m-c truck that was in the area. group mothers against murder is offering 5-thousand dollars for information that leads to the arrest of the men responsible. santos leaves behind a wife and two young children. ( lydia ) a trial date has been set for the two men at the center of the ghost ship warehouse fire in oakland. derick almena and max harris will go to trial on april second. this comes a month after a judge rejected the plea deal the two men had reached with prosecutors. almena and harris are charged th 36-counts of involuntary manslaughter for that fire. during a hearing yesterday... both men withdrew their "no contest" pleas... and instead entered "not guilty" pleas. 36 people died during a party at the warehouse back in december of 2016. ( lydia ) in redwood city... the man accused of being the "gypsy hill killer" almost got himself thrown out of court on day one of his trial. within a minute of the trial starting... rodney

halbower started yelling. he told the jury that the trial was an abuse of the legal process and a conspiracy. the 69-year-old is accused of killing two women in san mateo county in 1976... paula baxter and veronica cascio. the prosecution says new evidence found in 2014 ... links halbower to both killings. the trial will resume on monday. ( lydia ) a reward is now being offered to find out who intentionally set a planned parenthood on fire in santa cruz county. surveillance video shows... a person setting fire to the building in watsonville. the fire caused moderate damage and no one was hurt. the f-b-i is offering 10-thousand- dollars for any information that will lead to any arrest. ( lydia ) san francisco crews and volunteers are set to spend the weekend sprucing up parts of the city. it's all apart of the s-f giant sweep... founded by the late mayor ed lee, and san francisco giants baseball team. it's hosted by hosted the

will mark the end of the demolition of the old eastern span of the bridge altogether. kron 4's gabe slate spoke with cal- trans... about what kind of traffic problem this could cause... and got a sneak peak of what the new pedestrian boardwalk will look like. nats - implosion it's finally reached an end one more implosion this saturday and the demolition of the old eastern span of the bay bridge will be completed. sound from alejandro lopez, caltrans, public information officer " tomorrow we move out the last two piers of the east span" if you were planning on crossing the bay bridge between 11am- and 1p on saturday you might want to change your plans. the bridge will be closed in both directions during the implosion. now if it all goes perfect traffic is only stopped for around 30 minutes but there is no guarantee the last time there was a planned implosion a seal swam into the area and they had to wait until it left. sound from alejandro lopez, caltrans, public information officer " we take marine life siously" cal trans is asking people not to show up to watch the

this morning... crews have put out a small fire at antioch high school. the fire was reported just before 11 last night. flames were contained to a single portable and was contained within minutes. the cause is under investigation. no one was hurt. (lydia)also happening today... a 2000- foot long ocean cleanup system anchored in the bay... is set to launch. the historic system is years in the making .... and will stop for testing about 300- miles offshore ... and then will be towed to the great pacific garbage patch. that patch of garbage is located midway between california and hawaii ... and is believed to be twice the size of the state of texas. once the system arrives in mid- october, the black floater and screen below... will be bent into a u- shape to create a coastline of sorts.

speaking out as the family of stephon clark prepares to sue the city of sacramento. clark was unarmed when officers fatally shot him. capitol bureau reporter ashley zavala has more on what lawmakers are saying. (nats)just shy of the six month mark of stephon clark's shooting death by police..his family is taking action against the city.with still no charges filed against officers... the family filed claims seeking at least 15 million dollars for funeral expenses, attorney fees and punitive damages.sacramento assemblyman kevin mccarty says he isn't surprised. technology can cut boarding time in half while also improving security. but some have questions privacy and accuracy. instead of needing a boarding pass or loading a phone application this is how airport officials say passengers will board flights of the future. meanwhile, immigration officials are using similar facial recognition technology to verify identities of people entering the country. kevin mcaleenan is the commissioner of customs and border protection: "no more fumbling with your boarding pass while you have two carry- ons, maybe a kid, no more trying to find your q-r code." "the pilot programs are part of the effort to comply with a mandate from congress to implement biometric screening at airports. dulles international is one of several airports across the country testing the technology. ""it's user friendly, its fast, its flexible and its cost effective." "its probably not gonna work." some passenger are skeptical it will actually speed up their wait. others have a different worry.

( lydia ) a recent photograh of former "cosby show" actor geoffrey owens .. working at trader joe's went viral.... and now... owens has gone from being job-shamed to landing a major hollywood gig. a representative for owens says he has accepted a job offer from tyler perry... who tweeted earlier this week that he wanted owens to appear on his own television show, "the haves and the have nots." owen's exact role on the show is unknown, but he'll appear on multiple episodes. owens played elvin on "the cosby show" from 19-85 to 19-92. he said he took the trader joe's job after "cosby" residuals dried up, and he liked it because it offered him flexibility. he quit the job because of all the attention, but says he's received a wave of ( lydia ) after more than 10-years missing ... a pair of stolen "wizard of oz" ruby slippers have finally been found. this is one of the four pairs worn in the 19-39

( lydia ) a big story this morning... san francisco police are investigating a shooting in the marina district. the shooting happened early thursday morning on moulton street in the marina district. a restaurant worker was taking out the trash at the end of his shift when he was approached by a thief. that thief demanded money and then started shooting. many who live nearby say they've installed security cameras because crime has gone up.

been set for the two men at the center of the ghost ship warehouse fire in oakland. derick almena and max harris will go to trial on april second. this comes a month after a judge rejected the plea deal the two men had reached with prosecutors. almena and harris are charged with 36-counts of involuntary manslaughter for that fire. during a hearing yesterday... both men withdrew their "no contest" pleas... and instead entered "not guilty" pleas. 36 people died during a party at the warehouse back in december of 2016. ( lydia ) in redwood city... the man accused of being the "gypsy hill killer" almost got himself thrown out of court on day one of his trial. within a minute of the trial starting... rodney halbower started yelling. he told the jury that the trial was an abuse of the legal process and a conspiracy. the 69-year-old is accused of killing two women in san mateo county in 1976... paula baxter and veronica cascio. the prosecution says new evidence found in

marijuana. a study out of new york university says nine- percent of adults aged fifty to 64 have used marijuana at least once within the past year. three- percent of those over age 65 have also done so. one researcher says older users may be looking to cannabis to help with sleep and pain. doctors also note, more research needs to be done to figure out the benefits and risks for pot users over fifty. ( lydia ) flu shots are now available at pharmacies. c-v-s, rite aid, and walgreens are now offering the vaccine. the cdc recommends yearly flu vaccinations for people 6 months and older. they recommend getting the shot before the end of october doctors and pharmacists say the earlier you get the shot... the better. the flu vaccine can take 2 weeks to build immunity in your body. ( lydia ) a house fire in daly city kills a 76-year-old man. the fire was reported just before 6 last night on muirwood drive. at least one other person was displaced. the home suffered heavy smoke damage throughout... and heavy fire damage to one room. the cause of the fire is under investigation... but arson is ánot suspected. ( lydia ) in the south bay... a community is in mourning... after a 28-year- old father was killed in front of his san jose home.

family, friends and activists marched along his street... demanding justice. frankie santos junior was stabbed on raymond avenue early sunday morning. police are still looking for his attacker and for a dark g-m-c truck that was in the area. ( lydia ) the non-profit group mothers against murder is offering 5-thousand dollars for information that leads to the arrest of the men responsible. santos leaves behind a wife and two young children. ( lydia ) a trial date has been set for the two men at the center of the ghost ship warehouse fire in oakland. derick almena and max harris will go to trial on april second. this comes a month after a judge rejected the plea deal the two men had reached with prosecutors.

almena and harris are charged with 36-counts of involuntary manslaughter for that fire. during a hearing yesterday... both men withdrew their "no contest" pleas... and instead entered "not guilty" pleas. 36 people died during a party at the warehouse back in december of 2016. ( lydia ) in redwood city... the man accused of being the "gypsy hill killer" almost got himself thrown out of court on day one of his trial. within a minute of the trial starting... rodney halbower started yelling. he told the jury that the trial was an abuse of the legal process and a conspiracy. the 69-year-old is accused of killing two women in san mateo county in 1976... paula baxter and veronica cascio. the prosecution says new evidence found in 2014 ... links halbower to both killings. the trial will resume on monday. ( lydia ) a reward is now being offered to find out who intentionally set a planned parenthood on fire in santa cruz county. surveillance video shows... a person

morning... more baby boomers in the u-s are smoking pot. a study out of n-y-u says nine- percent of adults aged fifty to 64 have used marijuana at least once within the past year. three- percent of those over age 65 have also done so. one researcher says older users may be looking to pot to help with sleep and pain. doctors also note, more research needs to be done to figure out the benefits and risks for pot users over fifty. speaking out as the family of stephon clark prepares to sue the city of sacramento. clark was unarmed when officers fatally shot him. capitol bureau reporter ashley zavala has more on what lawmakers are saying.
