evacuations are in place as hundreds of firefighters work to contain the snell fire burning in napa county. it has now burned more than 24- hundred acres and at last update was only 20% contained. kron 4's gayle ong has the latest on the firefighting effort. over 12 hundred firefighters are on the frontlines fighting this fire tonight.the challenges today are getting access to remote locations. one paved road to the burn zone..is the only way in and out of the berryessa estates community..which is under mandatory evacuation orders for at least the third time in recent years..the snell fire broke out 2:30 saturday afternoon on butts canyon road and snell valley road, near middletown it exploded overnight to 24-hundred acreswe saw the flames spread east in just a matter of minutes..a day later, it's still burning in grassy oak woodlands spreading at a moderate rate..cal fire has three helicopters dropping water on the flames..

the pope valley farm center opened its doors as an emergency center saturday.by 5-6 o clock there were 50 people herein what little time they had ...meowwwpets were loaded up and transferred. right away donations started pouring in for evacuees. zuccini raisins and walnuts herefamilies used porta potties and did what they could with the space.because we dont have cots a lot of people slept in their cars. some slept on the floors in thereand used donated blankets when temperatures cooled at night.by sunday ... as the fire rages on in a grassy woodland area ... the owner of whiskey river ranch winery opened available rooms for families with no place to stay. we use it now for our interns for harvest, i don't have any overseas interns this year. they're all locals so we're gonna open up some roomsnow this 2 month old baby and her family will have a bed to sleep in.we're gonna move over therebefore they left....here, take the whole bagfood was important. it was easy settling in.lets see what they gave us sweetheart. it's beautifuli just cannot believe thisthis is wonderful. i guess you get to take a showeran evacuation shelter is now open at the calistoga fairgrounds. the red cross is inside the butler pavilion helping

( robin ) in overnight news, firefigters put out a house overnight in antioch. the fire broke out just before midnight on the 11- thousand block of medanos street. it took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control. no one was hurt in the blaze. ( robin ) new this morning... an oakland woman is under arrest... accused of shooting her estranged husband. the shooting happed on the 400 block of railroad avenue in south san francisco. the man is expected to survive. monica solorio is facing charges of attempted homicide and carrying a loaded gun. ( robin ) happenign now... police are looking for the person who broke into at least three cars in fremont. police say three s-u-v's had their window's smashed and

things stolen from the car. this was near the stanford lane entrance to mission peak. police are reminding people not to leave valuables in unattended cars. ( robin ) another big story we are following... police in pacifica are trying to figure out how a man's body ended up on the beach in pacifica. the body was found sunday morning in the beach area below palmetto avenue. this is a picture of the scene. officers recieved a report of a body washed up on the beach at around 7:30 yesterday morning the person has not yet been identified. ( robin ) a body was found on railroad tracks in fremont. fire crews were called to the scene at 2:45 yesterday afternoon. they found the man on the rail road tracks where niles canyon road intersects palomares road. alameda county deputies are investigating this as a suspecious death. right now investigators do not know how the man died. ( robin ) anti semitic flyers are found at five east

bay synagogues ... the flyers claim to be from the daily stormer book club -- a group that's associated with the daily stormer website. the group was nvolved in the white supremacist rally in charlottesville last year. and according to the anti defamation league... the group is using social media to try and recruit people to their cause. ( robin ) similar flyers have also been found recently at a church and synagogue in michigan. ( robin ) a gilroy police officer shoots at a man who was driving towards him in a

car. this happened near gilroy high school yesterday afternoon... near a field where 5th and 6th graders were playing football. the man shot at was a former police officer. nobody was injured but the young football players and their coaches were forced to take shelter until the man was arrested. nobody was injured. ( robin ) a man is behind bars after being involved in a shoot out with police in san jose. police arrested 38- year-old manuel gabriel rico. he is recovering from gunshot wounds and is expected to be ok. yesterday morning police officers were called to mayellen avenue and scott street in san jose. police say they asked the suspect to get out of a car that was reported stolen... and when he did not -they opened fire. a gun was later found in the car. ( robin ) enviornmental activists joined together at crissy field over the weekend... ahead of the world summit on climate change. the three day event kicks off wednesday in san francisco. kron 4's hermela aregawi has the details. a call for climate change justice.dozens of people came out to crissy field sunday.. they sang, danced and encouraged people to do more to move towards 100 percent renewable energy.magalie bonneau/organizerwe love these kind of artistic participatory events. cause they allow to create this kind of collective prayer to take a stand this kind of world we want to inhabit, where we embody peace, justice and also our readiness for creating a sustainable, regenerative future. i think we're going towards going completely 100% renewable. it's just a matter of how to create with this

bart station in one stop. riders no longer will need to transfer at the fremont station. bart plans on expanding direct service to the station monday through saturday. the service begins this week. sunday service will remain unchanged. ááexplosionsáá( robin ) the final pier of the old eastern span of the bay bridge has been demoloished. the implosion took place on saturday. it was the last step before crews repurpose - four marine foundations along yerba buena island... that will eventually be converted to an observation platform and a 140-foot long boardwalk. a 600-foot boardwalk is also planned for the oakland shoreline. those boardwalks are expected to be open to the public within a year. ( robin ) a 2000- foot long ocean cleanup system anchored in the bay... has now been launched. the

clean-up system will stop for testing about 300- miles offshore ... and then will be towed to the great pacific garbage patch. that patch of garbage is located midway between california and hawaii ... and is believed to be twice the size of the state of texas. the ocean cleanup system consists of a black floater and screen ... that acts as a trap for garbage floating in the water. ( robin ) some people have voiced concerns about the cleanup system's impact on marine life... but those behind the system say it has been designed to minimize any risk to the environment. snell fire burning in napa county is threatening homes this morning. mandatory evacuations are still in place. so far the fire has burned about 24-hundred acres and is just 20% contained. we have a crews heading up to napa county. we will get the latest on containment coming up in a live report in the 6:00 hour. ( robin ) i-5 in near redding remains closed this morning as the delta fire continues to burn with just 5-percent containment this morning. the shasta county blaze has burned more than 40-thousand acres. steep terrain is making containment tough for fire fighters. the shasta county sheriff's office has issused mandatory evacuations for residents along i- 5 and the surrounding area. officials are still investigating the use of the fire... they believe it was caused by a person but are not saying if it was started deliberately. bay... a woman is warning others about a scam involving a fake p-g-and-e employee. kron 4's ella sogomonian has the details. jeanne (pron: zhan) pimentel was nearly scammed out of 500 dollars when a person claiming to be a pg&e employee called her friend who suffers from memory loss claiming that her power would be cut of because the bill hadn't been paid in three months.sot: jeanne pimentel, warns of pg&e caller scam// "this woman was holding on the phone the whole time or if we got disconnected then she would call me back or we would call her back and she just stuck with it so we thought she was just so nice." with a tight deadline she was told she had one hour to get to a walgreens and buy a green dot money pak for $5.95...load the card with the money and read back the access codes.she was contacted by her friend's daughter who confirmed she'd been paying the bills and it was in fact a scam.sot: jeanne

pimentel, warns of pg&e caller scam// " i really find it hard to believe that people would be so mean to such vulnerable people."pg&e reports that scam callers can disguise their phone number making it harder to figure out the plot.so now pimentel is warning other seniors so they don't fall for it. ( robin )( robin ) oakland police are investigating a deadly shooting. this is a picture from o-p-d. it happened in the area of 34th avenue and salisbury street. officers say the shooting is being investigated as a homicide. no word on suspects at this time. ( robin ) two people are injured after a shooting at a barber shop in richmond. police say two men walked into the fadeaway barbershop on san pablo avenue... just after and fired several shots. one

man in the shop was hit by gunfire and a second person was injured from flying glass. both men suffered non- life threatening injuries. one suspected shooter was arrested three blocks from the shop... police are still the second shooter this morning. ( robin ) another fire at an east bay scrap metal yard is sparking questions about the companies safety practices. alameda county fire fighters happened to drive by -alco iron and metal- and notice smoke that turned out to be coming from the recycling site. mechanic shop employees next door say this is just one more fire that's forced them to close early because of heavy smoke. although the cause of the latest fire is still being investigated... council member lee thomas is concerned by the history of fires and emergency calls to the site... this was the second fire this at the site this year.

( robin ) police in milpitas have arrested two people for attempted homicide... in connection to a stabbing that happened at a jack in the box. on august 30th... officers responded to the jack in the box on south main street for a distrubance and vandalism inside the restaurant. officers found a 51-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to his stomach. he was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. 20-year-old jose ignacio.. on the left, was arrested at his home the day after the stabbing. 19-year-old osbaldo cobos was

( robin ) authorities are looking for a man who intentionally set fire to a planned parenthood building in santa cruz county. a surveillance camera caught a man wearing a hoodie trying to set fire on the outside of the building. watsonville firefighters were able to put out the fire in minutes. planned parenthood is working with local, state and federal authorities to identify the man.

( robin ) students at a san francisco elementary school no longer have laptops to help them with their school work... after a burglar broke into their classroom. it happened at sutro elementary school. the thieves stole multiple laptops and tablets. school officials say the students used the computers daily in their language arts... math and reading classes. people who live and work in this quiet richmond district neighborhood say a crime like this is very unusual. ( robin ) ( robin ) a dog surf-a- thon was held at del mar dog beach in southern california... over the weekend more than 70 dogs got to show off their skills on the waves in del mar. the event is in its 13th year... highlighting some of "man's best friends" best tricks. one hundred percent of proceeds from the surf-a-thon benefit the helen woodward animal center to help orphan pets. ( darya ) kron4's lydia pantazas is live in alameda county with the latest. lydia. alameda county sheriff's investigators are treating the discovery of a man's body along railroad tracks in niles canyon as a "suspicious death," the sheriff's department said. the man's body was discovered near the union pacific tracks in the canyon south of highway 84 and alameda creek, about 2:45 sunday afternoon, said sheriff's sgt. ray kelly. a hiker or jogger saw the body west of the intersection of highway 84 and palomares road a few miles east of fremont city limits and called police, he said. morning as the delta fire continues to burn with just 5-percent containment this morning. the shasta county blaze has burned more than 40-thousand acres. steep terrain is making containment tough for fire fighters. the shasta county sheriff's office has issused mandatory evacuations for residents along i- 5 and the surrounding area. officials are still investigating the cause of the fire... they believe it was caused by a person but are not saying if it was started deliberately. ( james ) in the east bay... a woman is warning others about a scam involving a fake p-g-and-e employee. zhen pimentel was almost scammed out of 500 dollars. she says a person called her friend claiming to be a p-g-and-e employee claiming that her power would be cut off because the bill had not been paid in three months. she was told she had one hour to get to a walgreens and buy a green dot money pak and load the card with the money and read back the access codes. pimentel's friends daughter contacted her and said the bill had been paid and it was a scam.

people for attempted homicide... in connection to a stabbing that happened at a jack in the box. on august 30th... officers responded to the jack in the box on south main street for a distrubance and vandalism inside the restaurant. officers found a 51-year-old man suffering from a stab wound to his stomach. he was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. 20-year-old jose ignacio.. on the left, was arrested at his home the day after the stabbing. 19-year-old osbaldo cobos was arrested last week. they are currently being held at the santa clara county jail. ( james ) authorities are looking for a man who intentionally set fire to a planned parenthood building in santa cruz county. a surveillance camera caught a man wearing a hoodie trying to set fire on the outside of the building. watsonville firefighters were able to put out the fire in minutes. planned parenthood is working with local, state and federal authorities to identify the man.

are investigating a deadly shooting. this is a picture from o-p-d. it happened in the area of 34th avenue and salisbury street. officers say the shooting is being investigated as a homicide. no word on suspects at this time. ( darya ) two people are injured after a shooting at a barber shop in richmond. police say two men walked into the fadeaway barbershop on san pablo avenue... and fired several shots. one man in the shop was hit by gunfire and a second person was injured from flying glass. both men suffered non-life threatening injuries. one suspected shooter was arrested three blocks from the shop... police are still looking for the second shooter this morning. police officer is facing manslaughter charges ... after fatally shooting a man who was in his own apartment. police say 26-year-old botham jean ... was in his apartment on thursday when police officer amber guyger entered ....mistakenly thinking it was her own place. she was off- duty at the time she fired her service weapont jean. prior to his death ... jean had never been in trouble with the law. ( james ) a funeral for the victim is scheduled for thursday. meantime officer guyger was arrested yesterday ... and charged with manslaughter. she has since released on bond.
