the state, as they continue to get hammered three days after hurricane florence made landfall.now a tropical depression, the national hurricane center says southeast north carolina could see up to 40 inches of rain... bobby hunt, lumberton resident: "i jumped up, shined the flashlight out here, water was already up that first step. time i turned around to go back in the house, the water was already half way. time i get to the truck... that deep."many rivers have yet to crest, which officials warn will cause even more damageover the next couple of days once they do.more than one million people are under mandatory evacuation orders... and at least one-thousand swift water rescues have been carried out in north carolina alone.mos: "when she hit that water, she literally flew into the ditch, and that car disappeared into the woods.600 roads in the state have flooded out or were made impassable by debris. prompting officials to ask motorists to avoid driving through the state altogether if possible.colonel glenn mcneill/ commander of the north carolina highway patrol: "residents who may feel like venturing out themselves could be involved in a flash flood

( robin )( robin )( robin ) ( robin ) first responders from the bay area are in the thick of the storm... and helping with rescues. members of the fema urban search and rescue task -force 4- from oakland are currently in sampson county, north carolina. we got these pictures showing what "team bravo" is doing to help. the team rescued 2 national guardsmen and 2 adults who were stranded in a military high-water vehicle... stuck in about 8 feet of water. the team used inflatable rescue boats and successfully got all 4

( robin ) happening today... the woman charged with murdering the father of her children will be back in court. tiffany li is charged with the murder of keith green who disappeared in mlibrae back in april of 2016. his body was found a few weeks later... dumped on the side of the road in healdsburg. her trial is expected to start at 8:30 this morning. ( robin ) also happening today... the man charged with killing c-h-p officer kirk griess will also be back in court. sean walker is charged with gross vehicular manslaughter. prosecutors say he was speeding on the shoulder of highway- 80... while looking at his cellphone... and that is when he crashed into officer griess... who was in the middle of a traffic stop. griess and the man he had

pulled over... jaime manuel... both died in the crash. walker will be arraigned during today's court appearance. ( robin ) happening today in the south bay.... a rally is expected at a homeless camp near the san jose airport. people who live in that cmap have been told that it will be cleared out this morning. hope village is a privately funded encampment located on ruff drive. the camp opened on september 8th. supporters of the camp will hold a rally at 7:30 this morning and c-h-p officers could begin clearing it out at 8:00. ( robin ) new this morning... police in fremont have arrested a man they say attacked another man with a machete or large knife. it happened yesterday morning on the 3-thousand block of rockett drive near central park. when police got to the scene they found the victim with severe cuts to his body. the attacker was found in unon city... his name has not yet been released. the victim suffered serious

( robin ) another big story we are following this morning... a palo alto woman has come forward claiming supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh sexually assaulted her back in the 19-80's. kron 4's gayle ong has the latest. christine blasey ford has revealed her identity to the washington post,as the anonymous woman who wrote a letter to lawmakers alleging supreme court nominee brett kavanaugh sexually assaulted her..in the article, ford says she was trapped in a bedroom with two boys at a high school party in marylandshe accuses kavanaugh of pinning her to a bed, groping her, attempting to pull off her clothes, and even covered her mouth with his hand when she attempted to scream..she told the paper: "i thought he might inadvertently kill me."she said the boys

were stumbling drunk but she was able to get away..we've learned ford is a bay area resident..no one was on campus sunday but people downtown saw the headlines she is getting support from senator diane feinstein,in a statement the senator says she supports ford's decision to come forward and now that she has, it is in the hands of the f- b-i to conduct an investigation standford law professor michelle dauber believes ford's story:

( robin ) some 14- thousand registered nurses working at university of california medical centers and student health centers are scheduled to vote this coming week on a new five-year labor contract, after 20 months of negotiations. reports say the agreement calls for a 15 percent pay raise, staffing to provide "safe patient care" and workplace violence and sex harassment protections. the contract also would require a comprehensive workplace violence prevention plan in place at all u-c medical centers and health facilities to protect nurses... medical staff... patients and visitors. ( robin ) in martinez -- the city council could give final approval this week to open the city's first medical marijuana dispensary... called firefly. however there is some concern over its location... near a gym facility -- called power endurance training. if it is determined that the gym

qualifies as a "youth center"... that would affect where the dispensary can be located. the planning commission already determined in july... that power endurance training did not qualify as a "youth center," despite center owners' claims 95-percent of their clients are younger than 18. the city council will make the final decisionat its meeting on wednesday night. ( robin ) for your health this morning... a new study finds that a daily dose of aspirin may not do you any good. according to the findings the people who took low doses of aspirin daily didn't necessarily benefit over those who took a placebo. scientists say that healthy people who take asprin are likely wasting their money. but when in doubt.....researchers say people should consult with a doctor on issues like this. story ( robin ) ( robin ) a big story we are following out of the south bay... the san jose community used mexican independence day to draw attention to a long-standing mural that was erased weeks ago. a group is now fighting to restore the historic mural. kron 4's

( robin ) happening now... police are looking for three people who tried to break into a house in hillsborough. it happened on the 29-hundred block of churchill drive. the homeowners had been out... when they arrived home they heard their alarm going off. then they saw three men run across the driveway and jump over a fence. they took off in a dark colored 2015 honda sedan with

paper plates. police say they got into the house through an unlocked door. police are reviewing surveillance video. ( robin ) in the east bay... emeryville police have arrested a man accused of hitting a woman in the head with an axe. 33-year-old christopher jennings is now in custody. the incident happened near the intersection of 40th and hubbard streets. the woman is expected to be okay. ( robin ) also in the east bay... the berkeley police department is facing criticism for releasing mug shots and sharing arrest updates on twitter. the latest backlash came after an august 5th "stop the hate" protest ... that resulted in 20- arrests for vandalism and arson. police posted all 20 of the suspects' mug shots on twitter. now the city council wants to restrict the amount of information police can release to the public following an arrest. information about a pair of armed robberies at a san jose strip mall. the first happened on august 31st. that is when a young woman with a gun demanded money at branham dry cleaner's. police say the next day that same woman robbed a sushi restraunt next door to the cleaners. employees there say she pointed a gun at the owner and his family before taking money from customers. police do not have a detailed description of the woman. ( robin ) another big story we are following... the macy's men's store in union square is closing and the changes can already be seen. this is what the shoe department looked like yesterday. you can see the empty shelves. the macy's building was sold for 250 million dollars back in 2016. the five floors are now being brought across the street to the main macy's building in union square. the men's store is gradually

housing is in short supply in almost every bay area community... and walnut creek is no exception. as kron four's philippe djegal reports...there is a senior living community that has a lot of applicants -- for just a few spots. (philippe) by the early afternoon... several dozen seniors had applied or inquired about applying for affordable housing in-person and online at montego place senior apartments in walnut creek.maggie/applicant- "it's v ery frustrating." some applicants say they're applying everywhere for apartments that offer 100- percent affordable housing units like montego place... but with little luck, because of the stiff competition. maggie/applicant- "from walnut creek to concord now to pittsburg." affordable

( robin ) a big story we are following this morning... the body of a u-c berkeley law student has been found in oregon. this is a picture of the recovery effort. 23-year-old brian lewinstein fell from the top of a waterfall back on august 12th. police say he crossed a safety fence to take a picture of the falls. the body was found on thursday but it was not positively identified until this weekend. ( robin ) happening now... police in brentwood are looking for a driver after one person was injured in a hit-and-run crash. it happened on the 38-hundred block of balfour road across from veterans park. a car pulling out of the park... crashed head-on with a car heading west on balfour. the driver of the car pulling out of the park... took off running after the accident. the driver of the other car was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay. 23-year-old brian lewinstein fell from the top of a waterfall back on august 12th. police say he crossed a safety fence to take a picture of the falls. the body was found on thursday but it was not positively identified until this weekend. ( james ) in the south bay... police are releasing information about a pair of armed robberies at a san jose strip mall. the first happened on august 31st. that is when a young woman with a gun demanded money at branham dry cleaner's. police say the next day that same woman robbed a sushi restraunt next door to the cleaners. employees there say she pointed a gun at the owner and his family before taking money from customers. police do not have a detailed description of the woman. ( darya ) happening now... police are looking for three people who tried to break into a house in hillsborough. it happened on the 29-hundred block of churchill drive. the homeowners had been out... when they arrived home they heard their alarm going off. then they saw three men run across the driveway and jump over a fence.

( darya ) in the east bay... a father has opened a rehab center in honor of his late daughter. katherine leforte battled addiction and lost that battle last june... before the center became a reality. she was a mother of two young kids.... now 13 and 5 years old. her father says months before her passing.. they talked about turning their martinez family home into a treatment center. when leforte died of a heart attack shortly after a relapse.. her father moved forward with the project in her honor.

( darya ) in the south bay... the san jose community used mexican independence day to draw attention to a long-standing mural that was erased weeks ago. protestors gathered to sign a petiton calling for a new 'mural de la raza'.. calling on the city and other entities to have the mural restored. the city immediately stepped in after the project was removed. but now there's a conflict... no one is sure who painted over the mural.. if it was the old owner or the new one. either way the muralist has lawyered up.

police say he crossed a safety fence to take a picture of the falls. the body was found on thursday but it was not positively identified until this weekend. ( james ) in the south bay... police are releasing information about a pair of armed robberies at a san jose strip mall. the first happened on august 31st. that is when a young woman with a gun demanded money at branham dry cleaner's. police say the next day that same woman robbed a sushi restraunt next door to the cleaners. employees there say she pointed a gun at the owner and his family before taking money from customers. police do not have a detailed description of the woman.
