investigating a deadly shooting that happened in san francisco. it happened just before 9 o'clock last night on 46th and moraga street in the outer sunset district. this is video from that scene. when police arrived they found a man on the ground suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. he was taken to the hospital where he was pronunced dead. so far police have made no arrests... and do not have any information on a suspect. ( robin )the father of a toddler is behind bars this morning. this after his 2-year-old son died in a crash.. while he was driving under the influence. kron 4's ali reid has the details. this child's family is completely distraught right now. his mother, who lives in reno .... made her way to the bay area as soon as she got word her toddler was killed in a crash.pkgon i-80 west, near the 37 interchange ... tragedy struck early sunday morning. a good samaritan called ashley romero-rabben from the scene ... then she spoke to her child's father.he gets on the phone and all he's saying is he's dead he's dead, i'm so sorry. he's dead. then he started screaming no no no.the last time ashley saw her boy was around 7'o-clock saturday

evening, when his father, jerome jacinto (who bears the same name) picked him up. the duo then drove back to fairfield. the fatal crash happened later that night after jerome left a friend's house. authorities say people at the home told him not to drive because he looked tired, but he left anyway. at the time of the solo vehicle crash ... the car rolled over multiple times ..... little jerome was ejected from the car and died on scene.i feel very very angry, disappointed about this situation but as for my son i feel really blessed that i got 2 amazing years with him and i wouldn't trade them for the worldhis father was arrested and is facing a number of charges, including giving false information to an officer and driving under the influence. meanwhile, investigators are looking into whether little jerome was properly restrained

in his carseat.right now it's being investigated whether it was improperly belted or a failure of the seat.sstandupas the family tries to make sense of this tragedy.... they've set up a go fund me page to help with funeral expenses.you can find it on our website ... kron 4 dot com.reporting live from vallejo ... ar ... kron 4 news ( robin )a local jury has found the "gypsy hill killer" guilty of killing two teenaged girls. the trial began september 7th. rodney hal- bower disrupted opening statements by yelling at the jury... that he was innocent and had never raped or killed. authorities believe he raped and killed six young women over a five- month period in early 19-76. d-n-a evidence led to his arrest in 20-14. prosecutors say, they charged him with the two murders with the strongest evidence. ( robin )in the east bay -- police arrested four suspects

accused of making several threats against pittsburg high school. those threats were made through social media posts... three of the suspects arrested are minors and go to pittsburgh high school. another suspect is a former student of black diamond high school. police say, the suspects did not have weapons... they are all being held at juvenile hall. ( robin )also in the east bay... a student is in custody after being accused of hacking into a social media account... and posting a threat against diablo view middle school in clayton. kron four's philippe djegal talked with students and parents who say this type of threat worries them. (philippe) attendance was noticably down tuesday at diablo view middle school in clayton... and, some parents who had already dropped their kids off in the morning... returned before the afternoon to take their students out of class.doly quigley/jazmine's mother- "she keeps calling me and saying, ok, she doesn't feel good." doly quigley's seventh-grade daughter jazmine lopez says her classes were less than half full. this after the school's principal notified families monday night in a

robocall.. that a threat had been made against the school on snapchat and instagram... alluding to a possible attack. clayton police were present on-campus tuesday as a precaution. jazmine lopez/student- 'it's very sad to feel so in danger, when you're supposed to be in a safe place that helps you learn and supposed to feel secure." before lunchtime... the clayton police department announced that the student who allegedly hacked the social media accounts to make the threat was arrested at their home. they were booked into juvenile hall for identity theft and making criminal threats.ferd santos/parent- "(philippe) were you concerned about the threat? (ferd) um, yeah, a little bit."melinda cark/student- "(philippe) did you consider not coming to school at all and what changed your mind? (melinda) yeah, we were considered but i had a math test, so i realized i should probably get my math test done and then i could leave." police say the student behind the threat appears to have acted alone. in clayton, philippe djegal, kron four news. rescued a 76-year-old woman from a cruise ship near the golden gate bridge. it happened yesterday and crews say the 'star princess' ship was about 35- miles southwest of the brdige. the coast guard says, they were contacted by cruise ship personnel ... asking to help the woman who they say was feeling sick. no word on how she is doing this morning. ( robin )new this morning... some lanes on the golden gate bridge will be closed during the week... as workers install a suicide net. the work will be done during the overnight hours... starting monday and it will last through 20-21. at least one lane in both directions will stay open during the closures. right now... workers are installing access platforms underneath a section of the bridge roadway. those platforms will allow crews to install the safety net. ( robin )an alleged incident from decades ago may be affecting judge brett kavanaugh's future. the

woman who accuses kavanaugh of assaulting her- wants the fbi to investigate before she testifies. john lorinc reports. judge brett kavanaugh's vote for the supreme court was originally scheduled for thursday.but now....kavanaugh and his accuser, christine blasey blah-zee ford, are invited to testify about the incident monday.however..... lisa banks/attorney for christine blasey ford"any talk of a hearing on monday frankly is premature because she just came forward with these allegations." ford's legal team wants the f-b-i to investigate the allegations before testimony is taken.in a letter to senate judiciary chairman chuck grassley ford's lawyers say their client has received harassment and death threats since coming forward. sen. chuck schumer/d-minority leader "there must not be a hearing on monday and then a possible vote on the nominee the day or two after."but the white house says a federal investigation won't help. president trump/no font needed "they don't want to be involved. if they wanted to be i would certainly do that, but as you know they say this is not really their thing."most republicans still back

( robin )berkeley police say they're going to start sending undercover officers into cafes in an effort to crack down on laptop thefts. now that the university is back in session - the crimes are on the rise. kron4's maureen kelly has the story.. this is what they are trying to prevent. a crime that happens quickly....and repeatedly.....theives snatching laptops from tabletops of unsuspecting customers.berkeley pd says they are seeing an average of 2-3 of these crimes a week now that cal students are back on campus. there's an influx of people who may not be familiar with the area, the students coming in freshman and they're a lot more electronic devices out there that can be stolen from people we don't want that to happenthe crime ranges from a simple snatch and

grab....but sometimes it can turn more serious... i remember one case recently where are young woman had her phone stolen and she almost ended up getting run over by a car that's not something we don't want to seepolice say in addition to being aware of your surroundings and not leaving your devices unattended....they suggest not sitting with your laptop by the exit...since it's a quick getaway for a theif....other tips involve technology. if your device has some sort of tracking software make sure it's activated. if you're working on something sensitive or really in general you should back up your work that means put on a flash drive or save it on the icloud whatever whatever.one student i talked to says he avoids the problem althogether but keeping his laptop at home. i only bring my computer when i absolutely really need it on campus campus. but no it's unfortunate because it's not just him it's not just the value of the computer it's what's on the computer at all it has more like meaning to class and it has more meaning to classwork that it does the monetary value and that's the really sad thing to me police say not only does this crime tend to increase starting in the fall....but october is an

( robin )we now know the name of the construction worker who died while on the job. that man's name was juan landa-verde- ol-vera. landa-verde-olvera died yesterday around 9 a.m when plywood fell on top of him. it happened on fair drive - which was closed between coleman drive and lincoln avenue for the investigation. landaverde-olvera was 59- years-old. happening today... the man accused of killling iowa univeristy student.. mollie tibbets.. will be arraigned. cristhian rivera is facing first-degree murder charges. tibbetts disappeared after going for a jog in the town of brooklyn iowajuly 18th. her body was later found in a cornfield... after the suspect led authorities to the spot. he's claiming that he blacked out and doesn't remember what ( robin )hercules police

say... they arrested a driver in a road rage incident. it happened at san pablo and sycamore avenues. police say, one driver in a honda accord .... got upset over an accident with another woman in a ford explorer. they say, the driver of the ford then got out and went up to the other woman. that woman grabbed the victim by the hair and hit her in the face and head several times. the victim had bumps on her head and a laceration to her lip. the driver of the honda was arrested... but then cited and released. ( robin ) in the east bay... 20 new tuff shed mini-homes will go up next to lake merritt. oakland's first tuff shed site opened last december. and mayor libby schaaf says the second site that went up in may... improved public health and safety conditions for the people living in the area. no word on when the city will start construction on the new site. ( robin )the city of fremont is planning to improve part of highway 84 between 8-80 and mission boulevard. governor brown signed a bill yesterday giving that stretch of road to the city. fremont's improvement plans include repaving work... installing ramps and more traffic signals. the city will also create safer walking routes to school.

( robin )for your money... retailers are on a hiring frenzy for the upcoming holiday season. macy's said it will hire 80-thousand seasonal workers. and gap is looking to use 65-thousand temps. last week - target announced it will hire 120- thousand holiday employees. delivery companies like u-p-s and fed ex are looking for a combined 155-thousand workers. retailers expect that it may be hard to fill so many jobs... so as an incentive - store like target are offering temp workers 12- dollars an hour, store discounts, and a gift card lottery. council has to make a big decision... as kron four's rob fladeboe reports... the council is considering three options for the long -awaited renovation of the old vallco shopping center. for now there are three plans on the table for how to resurrect the vallco mall here on wolfe road in cupertino. all three promise a mix of sorely needed housing. these are renderings of a plan proposed by developer sand

hill properties, which includes 2,000 units of housing, half of which would be deemed affordable, aong with 2 million feet of office space and 400,000 square feet of retail. if approved, the plan would be a test case for senate bill 35, which forces cities to greenlight projects that meet certain requirements says sand hill's reed moulds. reed moulds/sand hill properties "....tonight is about vision, about the city's vision, if that vision is in the city's best interest to takeadvantage of the opportunity to get not only more affordable housing and all sorts of community benefits that we're all working together to create than that could be the case..." the city council will also consider two alternative plans. one has more retail but fewer homes and cuts office space in half. the other has more homes, a bit more retail and less office space. critics say all three plans will mean more traffic and congestion says liang chao of the group better cupertino.liang chao/better cupertino "....we love

with special d-m-v stickers can use carpool lanes... even with only one person inside. as kron 4 charles clifford explains... at the start of the year, that is all going to change. sotit's totally nice. i love it.ligia ravetto lives in mountain view. thanks to a green clean air vehicle sticker the bumper of her electric hybrid prius she's able to drive solo in the h-o-v lanes almost everyday. sotthis is great. it's awesome. i love going in the carpool lane.but as january first 2019, ligia and hundreds of thousand of other drives with green and white stickers will be banned from driving solo in the commuter lanes. ligia is not amused.sotit's stupid i don't know why they

are doing that.for years, the state gave out the green and white stickers to encourage people to purchase low or no emissions vehilce. but now, state officials say all those cars are starting to clog up the commuter lanes across the state. so last year the legisalature passed a plan to reboot the program. starting in 2017 and moving forward, qualifitying cars will be given red stickers that allow single occupancy use the hov lanes. the older white and green stickers will be invalid as of january 1st of next year. critics of the change say that the congestion problem in the hov lanes is the result of hov cheaters. like this guy. . who use the lanes illegally and eliminating the white and green stickers only punishes people, like ligia, who tried to do the right thing. sot she's doubtfull that changes will speed up commute.sotno. i don't think so at all. idon't think it will work at all.

a neighborhood is on edge after video surfaced of a mountain lion walking down the street. the mountain lion can be seen walkingin san mateo right off of 37th avenue early monday morning. the homeowner who caught it on camera says it looked big -- roughly three feet high and six feet long. the homeowner says his camera also captured a large deer, which might be what the big cat was after. he wants neighbors to think twice before taking any late night walks. ( robin )keeping the airport secure has been difficult in san jose. the government is offering more money to beef up security and stop possible intrusions. kron 4's dan kerman has the story. between 2014 and 2016 at least 6 people made it through perimeter fences and onto the airfield at minetta san jose airport. beginning in 2015,

( darya ) a big story this morning... a man is dead after shots ring out in san francisco's outer sunset district.( james ) and this morning... police are still looking for the shooter. kron 4's sara stinson is live at police headquarters with the latest details. sara? ( darya ) a toddler is killed in a crash on interstate 80 in vallejo and now that boy's father is under arrest. c-h-p officers say the 2-year-old boy was ejected from the car when it had rolled over several times. the boy's father is now facing a number of charges, including driving under the influence. this morning we are hearing from the boy's mother who describes the moment she learned of her son's death.

( james ) police across the bay area are on the lookout for a man who escaped from a nevada county prison. justin tyquiengco escaped from a minimum security prison camp on tuesday morning.

the alameda county sheriff's office says tyquiengco has ties to alameda and contra costa county. 3 years ago... he was sent to the prison camp to serve a 6-year sentence for armed robbery. ( james ) happening today... the man accused of killling iowa univeristy student mollie tibbetts will be arraigned. tibbetts grew up in the east bay. cristhian rivera is facing first-degree murder charges. tibbetts disappeared after going for a jog in the town of brooklyn, iowa on july 18th. her body was later found in a cornfield... after rivera led authorities to the spot. he claims that he blacked out and doesn't remember what happened. has found a career criminal known as the "gypsy hill killer" guilty of murdering two teen girls in san mateo county. rodney halbower disrupted opening statements by yelling at the jury... that he was innocent and had never raped or killed anyone. but a jury didn't believe him. authorities believe killed six young women over a five-month period in 19-76. d-n-a evidence led to his arrest in 20-14. prosecutors say they charged him with the two murders with the strongest evidence. ( darya ) happening today in the east bay... the martinez city council could give final approval to open the city's first medical marijuana dispensary. it would be called "firefly". it's next to a gym called "power endurance training"... some are opposed to the dispensary -- arguing that kids attend the gym. but the planning commission already determined in july... that power endurance training does not qualify as a "youth center"... despite the owners' claims that 95-percent of the clients are under 18. ( james ) at the start of the new year... special "green clean" d-m-v stickers that allow any driver to use the carpool lane will be going away. for years the state gave out green and white stickers to encourage people to buy low or no emissions cars. but now officals say those cars are clogging up the commuter lanes across the

( james ) happening today... the man accused of killling iowa univeristy student mollie tibbetts will be arraigned. tibbetts grew up in the east bay. cristhian rivera is facing first-degree murder charges. tibbetts disappeared after going for a jog in the town of brooklyn, iowa on july 18th. her body was later found in a cornfield... after rivera led authorities to the spot. he claims that he blacked out and doesn't remember what happened. ( james ) a bay area jury has found a career criminal known as the "gypsy hill killer" guilty of murdering two teen girls in san mateo county. rodney halbower disrupted opening statements by yelling at the jury... claiming he was innocent. but the jury didn't believe him... and instead, found him guilty of killing six young women over a five-month period in 19-76. d-n-a evidence led to his arrest in 20-14. ( darya ) happening today in the east bay... the martinez city council could give final approval to open the city's first medical marijuana dispensary. it would be called "firefly". it's next to a gym called "power endurance training"... some are opposed to the dispensary -- arguing that kids attend the gym. but the planning commission already determined in july... that power endurance training does not qualify as a "youth center"... despite the owners' claims that 95-percent of the clients are under 18. the new year... special "green clean" d-m-v stickers that allow any driver to use the carpool lane will be going away. for years the state gave out green and white stickers to encourage people to buy low or no emissions cars. but now officals say those cars are clogging up the commuter lanes across the state. now the state is rebooting the process by handing out red stickers that will allow single occupancy cars to use the h-o-v lanes. ( james ) the city of fremont is planning to improve part of highway 84 between 880 and mission boulevard. governor brown signed a bill yesterday giving that stretch of road to the city. fremont's improvement plans include repaving work... installing ramps and more traffic signals. the city will also create safer walking routes to school.
