leonardo will return to court this morning for a pre-trial hearing. leonardo and daniel gross are both accused of stabbing and killing east bay woman... lizette cuesta... and leaving her on the side of the road. cuesta was killed back in feburary. before she died she led investigators to gross and leonardo. back in may.. gross pleaded guilty. leonardo pleaded ánot guilty. ( robin )a 10 -year old girl is in critical condition this morning ... after she was hit by a car on her way to school. as kron 4's ali reid explains, the community is banding together to help the child's family. tia longmire is in a drug induced coma ... she's been unresponsive since the day of the accident.pkgthey are monitoring her brain for

swelling, and for oxygen10 year old tia is in critical condition. her family has been at her bedside for days. while crossing balfour road and guise way to get to school monday, she was hit while in the crosswalk. her younger sister nicole jumped into action.actually pulled her out of the roadway to safety and then a nurse stopped, helped and then nicole ran and got helptia was airlifted to u.c.davis children's hospital in sacramentoshe has a lot of broken bones but those can heal. it's all about the brain right now, doctors have adjusted her meds .... and it's a wait and see.they've reduced the meds a little to see if she'll respond and she has not. she hasn't responded since the accidentthe fun-loving 6th grader is missed at school. students at edna hill middle school tell me they've written her letters that will be delivered to her

( robin )santa rosa police want you to take a look at surveillance camera video of a car involved in a deadly hit and run saturday night. investigators say around 9-20 saturday... a driver hit 37- year-old matthew thomas eck. it happened near the intersection of stony point and occidental roads. eck was killed at the scene and

found in front of the round table pizza restaurant. now police are looking for the driver of this car. this is video of someone driving it through a restaurant parking lot. it's described as a sedan with a spoiler... similar to a honda prelude. it may have major front end damage. ( robin )a 20 year old dead.. after multiple shots are fired in a quiet san francsico neighborhood. this happened tuesday night at 46th ave and moraga in the outer sunset. kron 4's hermela aregawi has reactions from residents in the neighborhood. a heartfelt note with the simple words.. don't know we're just kind of really stunned. we've gotta continue watching out for each other. you can't be too insulated. 20 year old ryan sacdalan of san francisco was shot here and left for dead. investigators canvassed the nieghborhood wednesday.. asking residents what they saw, heard and knew.. and whether they had surveillance video that could have captured the killing... leaving residents at a loss of what to make of the tragedy.alex teu/residentwe're really close community. and it was about a block away from my home, didn't hear the shots, but news of it spread pretty quickly and it's pretty shocking when those details came out.janelle pon/resident definitely surprised i think this area is generally very safe, it's very residential, quiet. nothing really like this happens. killling iowa univeristy student mollie tibbetts has pleaded not guilty. tibbetts lived in the east bay until her family moved to iowa when she was in the fourth grade. cristhian rivera is facing a first-degree murder charge. tibbetts disappeared after going for a jog in the town of brooklyn, iowa july 18th. her body was later found in a cornfield... after rivera led authorities to the spot. he claims that he blacked out and doesn't remember what happened. rivera's trial has been scheduled for april of next year. ( robin )police are searching for - four women accused of shoplifting thousands of

dollars worth of items... from a north bay lu-lu lemon store. it happened just after 11am yesterday morning . santa rosa police were called to the store on magowan drive... after getting a call that four women fled the store with 17-to-19-thousands dollar in merchandise. witnesses say, the women pulled out large bags and filled them with clothes. the women were wearing red and black hoodies. and when they ran away... they got into an older, black mercedez benz. california history is now 100 -percent contained. the mendocino complex fires erupted in july in lake county. it burned nearly 460-thousand acres. a firefighter died battling the flames. more than 400 firefighters are still in the area... doing repair work to prevent erosion... and monitoring hot spots. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. ( robin )while that fire may be over... the danger is not over yet... and as the anniversary of last year's devastating north bay wildfires approaches... a red flag warning has been issued for large parts of the bay area. kron 4's charles clifford has details.

well, right now i'm standing the fountain grove neighborhood of santa rosa and this lastest red flag warning from the national weater service includes the hills to the north and east of where i'm standing. that's the same area where last year's tubbs fire burned through last year destoryin thousands of homes. . including those behind me here. so as you can imagine the increased fire danger has santa rosa residents on edge. sot it bring red flags into my head.last october heather johnson and many of her neighbors had to flee their homes as the tubbs fires roared through santa rosa. she says even though it's been almost a year since that happened, even thinking about another fire is stress full.sot people are still nervous and sad and freaked out and upset. sotit's something that is devastating to deal with connor gragson lives in santa rosa. he doesn't think there will be a repeat of the tubbs fire but he does worry that a new wild fire mighbr it seems like fire are it.

getting worse and worse.this lastest red flag warning is set to beging around 11pm wednesday evening and continue through 5p thursday. sonoma county fire officials are warning that any fires that develop could spread rapidly and that downed power lines could lead to new fires.in the meantime, santa rosa residents just have to wait and hope that fire season and the occasional red flag warning pass without incident.sotyou just try to do the bes that you can. ya know? fire officials are also asking that during this red flag warning people refrain from any sort of outdoor burning and sign up for nixle alerts to recieve updates on any fires that may break out. in santa rosa, charles clifford kron 4 news ( robin )just calling 9-1-1 may soon cost you a fee in some east bay cities. fire districts say it's because they're having trouble making ends meet. in just a few months, the east contra costa fire protection district services will start charging

( james ) two los angeles county sheriff's deputies are recovering after they were injured in a shooting. this is new security video showing part of a police chase through east l-a. they were chasing a black car after getting a call about someone pointing a gun at another person. that chase led up to the shooting at a park. the deputies were both shot in the chest. one witness ran outside when he heard gunshots. ( darya ) round-up maker, monsanto, is asking a san francisco judge to throw out a jury's 289-million dollar award to a former groundskeeper. dewayne johnson says the weed-killer caused his cancer. but monsanto says johnson failed to prove round-up or similar c- hodgkin's lymphoma. the company is asking the judge to either overturn the jury's decision or order a new trial. the jury determined monsanto should have provided a warning label. johnson's lawsuit is just one of hundreds alleging round-up causes cancer. his was the first to go to trial.
