father in modesto... and they believe he could be in the bay area. police say 6- year-old jayce cosso was last wearing a black "transformer" t-shirt with faded green camouflage shorts. his father -- 41-year-old john cosso is believed to have taken jayce from his mother yesterday morning. police have also identified this woman as a person of interest in the case. her name is renee quijada. police believe that the boy could be here in the bay area. police say the boy's father was last seen driving a black 4-door... vehicle with the license plate number 8- b-d-y-6-5-4. ( robin ) people living in one east bay neighborhood are on edge after a fire comes dangerously close to homes for a second straight day. this happened in san ramon. kron 4's charles clifford has the latest.

monday afternoon, ken monday monday monday afternoon, ken wong walked into his back yard and saw a wall of flames less than 200 yards from his house. he and his family grabbed garden hoses and prepared to make a last stand.sotwe were watering with our house for what it was worth.fortunatly, fire crews from the san ramon valley fire protection district, stationed just a few blocks away, were able to move in and contain the fire quickly. cal fire also sent resources to help out. the blaze was eventually kept to just a few acres and no structures were damaged. ken says fire fighters moved fast.sotyeah, they were here with in about 5 minutes.this fire comes just a day after another grass fire broke out less than a mile away on the same hillside. that fire burned about 10 acres and 15 homes along pradera way were briefly evacuated. at this

point, the exact causes of the two fires are still under investigation and it's unclear if they are connected or if this is just a coincidence. ken says a fire on this hillside wasn't entirely unexpected. the neighborhood home owners association requires homeowners to maintain defensable space along the hillside.sotyeah, twice a year we cut down the grass to make a 30 yard fire break.he thanfull the fire was brought under control quickly but knows that in these dry conditions another wildfire could break out.sotit's part of living here i guess. ( robin ) another big story we are following this morning... a second woman with allegations against judge brett kavanaugh could be putting his supreme court confirmation in further jeopardy. now the judge is defending himself... saying he's not going anywhere. during an interview on fox news... judge kavanaugh addressed the accusations against him.

questioning and have not questioned that perhaps dr. ford at some point in her life was sexually assaulted by someone in some place. but what i know is i've never sexually assaulted anyone.">( robin ) judge kavanaugh and palo alto professor christine blasey ford will both testify in front of the senate judiciary committee on thursday. accuse supreme court justice nominee brett kavanaugh of sexual assault when they studied with him - ford in high school and ramirez in college.sot: soha ashraf, rally organizer// "they're putting their entire livilihoods on the line to be able to protect all of us from the real predators. i think there's a lot of disbelief of women in sexual assault generally so i don't think it's uncommon that people aren't believing her because it's part of our culture. but i think that a lot of people are politically motivated to not believe her in favor of kavanaugh."the same day, kavanaugh joined by his wife vehemently denied the allegations on fox news calling it a smear campaign to taint his good name in light of his nomination for the highest seat in the judicial branch.sot: omid merhrage, berkeley college republican// "i have friends who have been sexually assaulted and raped and it's affected their lives really badly. however i believe that there should be a side to protect the reputation of other people as well that should be taken into account

other san jose police officers taunted him with endless racist accusations. the police officer says the harassment intensified after the u-s invaded iraq in 2003 and continued for many years. haidar has been with the san jose police department for 21 years. the city says an internal investiagtion found no wrong-doing. ( robin ) this morning we have an update on the homeless camp called 'hope village" in the south bay. kron 4's rob flaeboe explains the plan for the village has hit a snag. (hope village pulls up stakes) exactly one week after it was evicted from a state-owned parking lot and then allowed to re-locate for 7 days at a nearby union hall, hope village is moving again. but not just yet to a new, more permaent location just down the street but to a motel says organizer peter miron-conc. peter miron-cong/hope village organizer "...we knew we would be okay here for a week, we hoped they would give us an extension but because of plans they already had, that wasn't

possible..."it turns out the county, which is paying is goin few more days to make ready the new location, leased from the city, also on ruff drive, part of which is already occupied by another homeless encampment.peter miron- conc/hope village organizer "..the whole place is full of grass, so they're going to cut the grass and level the place to make a flat spot for our tents and then put some fences up...."existing campers are being encouraged to take advantage of bathrooms and other services to be made available to hope village. their hope is that the camp that is to be their home for the next six, months, until a permanent campsite is found, will be a pilot or model for more such camps.peter miron- conc/hope village organizer "....the goal is to set up more camps and the first camp is the most important as a model for the rest so the people can see and understand what we're doing is successful and then there can be more camps like it to meet the need."the important thing say hope village residents is to get it right. the delay is a minor bump in the road says charles nelson.charles nelson/hope village resident "...it's a minor setback, no biggie, we're moving toward something so as long as we are moving forward we will move all day every day if we have

drive less than 20 min from the toll to 101. ( robin ) newly released video shows the moments leading up to a mob attack on a bart train at oakland's colesium station last april. the video shows a lot of teens jumping the fare gates... kron 4's maureen kelly talked to one of

the victims who was beaten and robbed that night. these surveillance cameras show the scene as about 40 young people came streaming into the colesium station that night back in april 2017....jumping the fare gates or pushing thru the emergency gates.another angle shows they stream past the overwhelmed station agent who called for assistance..shortly after this video....the mob gets on board a train with rusty stapp, his wife and 18 year old daugther.... he says that's when three males reached for his phone.three of them jumped on top of me, two of them were swinging at me one of them was kicking at me. i released my phone and at that point they got off of me, they went on down the car, rob and a few other people bart is now saying that two juveniles and one 18 year old were arrested. the 18 year old copped a plea and did one year in jail.stapp has slapped the transit agency with a three million dollar lawsuit. he points to the death of nia wilson this year...allegedly stabbed by a man with history

of fare evasion...as another, more tragic example of what can happen. i said i didn't want to see another family but we did or something worse. unfortunately that's haven't neil wilson's now lost her life because the bart not doing anything. fare evasion is a gateway to criminals and it's easy for people to enter and exit the system. it's why we brought this to the public attention over a year ago. you can see from the video how simple it is and yet now near wilson is now dad because bart did not do anythingthe bart spokesperson could not comment on the lawsuit but says transit systems with tougher to jump fare gates still experience fare evasion and crime...they have taken steps like installing higher fencing and putting alarms on the emergency gates at some stations .and they are conducting a study on changing the gates to make it harder for people to evading paying their fare share....without slowing down commuters as enter and exit the stations. maureen kelly kron4 news ( robin ) happenign now... san mateo county sheriff's deputies are looking for the men who attacked and robbed women in redwood city. the victims were all walking towards an open house for a real estate viewing. the

women said that two men pushed them down and robbed them. this happened on the 2-thousand block of nassau drive. one of the victims suffered a head injury and was taken to the hospital. the attackers took off in a black four-door nissan altima. ( robin ) a woman whose body was found over the weekend in a car at the bottom of an embankment in newark has been identified. police say 66-year-old wah-may-tha kaboga-miller was last seen driving east on university avenue on august 17th... after leaving the country time market. she was considered at-risk because she uses several prescription medications, which she'd left at home. paramedics say the woman had been in her car for an extended period... her family and friends have told kron four that they're in shock over the news. ( robin ) in the north bay... public health officials in marin county say vaping among seventh, ninth, and 11th graders has more than doubled in the past two years.

the county is now considering a ban on vaping and flavored tobacco products. the county has also sent as booklet detailing the dangers of vaping to the parents of all 3-thousand high school freshmen in the county. public health officials have sent a proposal to ban all vaping products in the county to the board of supervisors. opponents of the proposal say an all out ban won't stop kids from getting the products online and that it would hurt the adults who are using vaping products to try and quit smoking. ( robin ) we have breaking news from the san francisco airport where there has been a fuel leak from a plane at the international terminal. officials at sfo say the plane has leaked about ten gallons of fuel onto the tarmac. shortly before one this morning, passangers were escourted off the plane. the plane was headed to mexico city. kron4's will tran is headed to sfo and will have a live report coming up.

( robin ) in more bay area news...deputies are investigating a home invasion robbery in millbrae. it happened on toyon drive. when deputies arrived - the thieves had already left in a u-haul truck. three armed men wearing ski masks had tied up the victims... and demanded valuables. they took money... ammunition... tobacco and two safes. one of the victims was hit on the head. ( robin ) a sacramento woman is rescued after her truck ran off a cliff. rescuers say she was stranded near the shoreline of the slab creek reservoir for 3 days... until a group of kayakers found her. jessica mensch has the story. rescuers say her car flew more than 120 feet down this embankment. she was trapped there for three days.they say sheús lucky to be alive, thanks in large part to some kayakers who were able to call for help. nats crying'you need to come home.'trying to hold it together...'there are people who care about you.'at the cliff where their friend, rita clingan ran off the road. rescuers say the 47 year oldús truck swerved off of forebay road near the slab creek reservoir in el dorado county...leaving her injured and trapped near the water for three days.((matt bonnici))'someone just happened to hear her cry for

help.' ' a group of kayakers found her sunday afternoon and called 911...((matt bonnici)) 'if someone wasnút on the water they would have had a tough time coming across her at all. itús very remote. ' matt bonnici was kayaking nearby and helped flag down rescuers.((matt bonnici))'they had a rescue helicopter come in and try to do a sighting of her location and asked us kayakers to point our paddles in the general direction of where they were.' rescue crews had to cut through trees and overgrown brush to get to clingan.they strapped her into a stretcher and pulled her up into the helicopter where she was taken to the hospital.((matt bonnici))'sheús pretty fortunate she was removed at that point in time.'while investigators look into what caused clinganús truck to veer off the cliff...friends pray for her recovery.'i love you rita. youúre a good person. and we hope you get well soon.'

( robin ) the woman who was rescued remains in the hospital this morning with extensive injuries. ( robin ) an indonesian teen has been rescued after drifting at sea for 49 days on a floating fish trap. the 19-year-old had been working as a lamp keeper on a remote fishing trap. the trap was 77 miles off the northern coast of indonesia. and in mid-july... strong winds and water currents broke the rope holding the trap in place causing him to drift out into the open sea. the platform made it all the way to the waters of guam where he was picked up by a cargo ship. his journey was more than 15-hundre miles. ( robin ) the desperate search for a six-year-old boy who vanished from a park in north carolina continues this morning. maddox ritch -- who is autistic and can't speak -- was at a park on saturday with his father when he ran off and disappeared. the fbi has now joined the investigation. police say the child's family has been interviewed and are cooperating with law enforcement. area are looking for a 6 year old boy who may have been abducted by his father. ( darya ) an amber alert has gone out and ovenright police released a picture of a person of interest. kron4's lydia pantazas is live at chp with the details. lydia. an amber alert has been issued following the alleged abduction of a 6-year-old boy from modesto and who might be in the san francisco bay area or central california or another location, police said. jayce cosso was last seen yesterday morning at his home in the 3700 block of poinsettia drive. police were called at about 7:30 a.m. after jayce's father john cosso allegedly abducted the boy from the home. according to police, the pair may be in a black 2012 ford fusion with california license plate no. 8bdy654. john is described as a 41-year-old white man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 190 pounds with hazel eyes and a shaved head.

( darya ) happening tonight in berkeley. the city council is expected to vote on a proposal that would stop the city's police department from posting photos of people arrested at protests unless they pose an immediate threat to the public's safety. some officials believe that by issuing the mugshots and names, it has been used to harass and threaten people at their homes and work. the only mugshots that would be released are for those wanted for rape, homicide or felony assault. ( james ) new this morning... the man convicted in federal court in a "kidnapping-for-ransom case" in vallejo -- will ánot get the chance to question his victims. back in 2016... matthew muller pleaded guilty in federal court to kidnapping denise huskins. it was a case that police originally called a hoax. muller pleaded not guilty last week to six state felony charges including kidnapping and rape.

( james ) a bay area family looking for their loved one for more than a month got the worst news. 66-year-old wah-may-tha kaboga- miller's body was found over the weekend in a car at the bottom of an embankment in newark. kaboga-miller was last seen driving east on university avenue on august 17th... after leaving the country time market. she was considered at-risk because she uses several prescription medications, which she'd left at home. paramedics say the woman had been in her car for an extended period... her family and friends have told kron four that they're in shock over the news. ( darya ) in the north bay... public health officials in marin county say vaping among seventh, ninth, and 11th graders has more than doubled in the past two years. the county is now considering a ban on vaping and flavored

embankment ... they are the ones that have located her.>( james ) authorities say the woman's truck veered off a road in el dorado county .....and went more than 120- feet down an embankment. officials say some kayakers found her on sunday .. and called for help. firefighters hiked the rugged terrain and were able to stabilize the 47-year-old woman who had suffered some major injuries. she was then airlifted to a hospital. investigators are looking into what caused the woman to veer off the cliff. crews are cleaning up a fuel leak from a plane at the san francisco airport.
