an investigation into sexual assault allegations on brett kavanaugh. this will delay a full senate vote on kavenaugh's confirmation.on friday president trump ordered the fbi to "conduct a supplemental investigation into the allegations against kavanaugh. all of this follows a stunning turn- of-events that followed emotional testimony of kavanaugh and his accuser christine blaw-sey ford. cnn's phil mattingly reports. tonight, republican senator jeff flake - pivoting.sen. jeff flake, (r) judiciary committee: "i will only be comfortable moving on the floor until the fbi has done more investigation than they have already. it may not take them a week. i understand that some of these witnesses may not want to discuss anything further. but i think we owe them due diligence."...telling colleagues he will áonlyá support kavanaugh's nomination on the senate floor ... if ... the floor votes are delayed, and a one week fbi probe into assault allegations is commenced.sen. jeff flake, (r) judiciary committee: "the democrats who have been i think justifiably

unwanted, unsafe and illegal guns off the street and dispose of them in a safe and anonymous way.and those who bring a gun will get paid for them! 100 dollars per handgun and 200 dollars for assaut rifles.there is no limit on how many guns you can bring, but the maximum amount you can receive is 400 dollars.each person should bring the guns unloaded and stored in the trunk. this event comes one day after governor jerry brown signed a bill raising the age from 18 to 21 to buy rifles and shotguns.the bill was inspired after the parkland, florida high school shooting. california has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country.local officials holding these type of gun buy back events usually get hundreds of guns of all kinds...i went to one in daly city where people told me it was relief to get rid of guns they just don't need or want. the event is first come first serve and goes until noon.live in sunnyvale, sara stinson, kron 4 news thanks sara. we'll check back with you in

the massive hack that exposed nearly 50- million users. the breach exploited facebook's "view- as" feature, which lets user's view their page the way other people on facebook would see it. exploiting the feature gave attackers the ability to potentially take control of the accounts. facebook says, it does not know who the hackers are or where they were based. according to the company, the issue has been fixed and reported to the f-b-i. it is not clear yet if exposed user information was actually accessed. to deal with the issue... facebook reset some logins... so 90- million people have been logged out... and will have to log in again. facebook says there is no need for users to reset passwords. ( marty )the federal government is suing tesla c-e- o elon musk for securities fraud. in august, musk rocked wall street with a series of tweets saying he could take the publicly traded tesla private. he laid out details, including pricing...and said funding had

already been secured. the securities and exchange commission filed a lawsuit claiming that musk was lying. it is trying to remove him as c-e-o of tesla for the alleged misconduct.. musk is calling the s-e-c action unjustified. ( marty ) we have an update on the repair efforts at the salesforce transit center. construction of a temporary fix could begin as early as today. earlier this week, cracks were discovered in two support beams. that forced the shutdown of the brand new transit center. that has caused a traffic nightmare for commuters in san francisco. on friday, repairs crews spent

another day surveying the area above fremont street where the damaged beams were found. steel support structures will be anchored in the middle of fremont street to relieve stress on the cracked beams. ( marty ) the materials for the shoring up process are expected to arrive today ... and the actual construction work will take at least a week. meaning that stretch of fremont street won't reopen until next friday at the earliest. ( marty ) in the east bay, police are investigating a possible threat at dublin high school. kron 4's charles clifford reports, the school district says someone threatened to harm students there on monday. well, this is homecoming weekend here at dublin high school and the school district is taking this threat seriously.in a note sent to parents and posted on the dublin school disrict website, the district says

that "an anonymous threat has been found at dublin high school indicating an intention to harm students on oct. 1. " on friday, the school district told kron 4 that they have no reason to believe the threat is credible but they aren't taking any chances. school officials reached out to the dublin police department and officers were on campus friday. the district also says that addtional police presence will continue through at least monday.dublin police are investgating but so far it's uknown who made the threat or why.natson campus friday, classses went on as ususal. parents waiting to pick up there kids after school said they had heard about the threat. claire lucero says the note was alarming.sotoh, i'm worried. ever since we got that news it makes me nervous.soti thought it was kind of scary.kimberly mentink has a daughter at dublin high. she says they sat down and talked about the threat friday morning.sotwe talked about that there was a threat made about possible harm. to keep your eyes open and be aware of your surroundings. if you see something unusual say something about it.both claire and kimberly say that while it's unlikely that the threat is real, the school and authorities have to act as if it is.sotwe have to give everything that comes in like this credibility. we have to take it seriously.sotyeah, we have to take it seriously. anyone with information is asked to contact the dublin police

richmond family is pleading with the public for help... as they search for 18- year old mariah davis ... she has not been heard from in over two days. kron 4's ella sogomonian has the latest from richmond. the family of 18 year old mariah davis last saw her on saturday at a birthday party. then her mom says wednesday was the last time they spoke on the phone.that davis was in good spirits and planning on applying for a new job.for two days her family has been anxiously waiting for her return.sot: alfreda james, mother// "shes out there somewhere. please someone find her. we miss you mariah we miss you."hermom filed a missing persons report with the contra costa county sheriff's department whose investigators are looking for davis. her mom says detectives found that her daughter's cell phone last pinged on wednesday

from la pinata restaurant in san leandro where they told her she was seen on surveillence video getting into her 2005 gray nissan altima around 2 in the afternoon with her ex boyfriend. sot: phyllis james, aunt// "normally she will contact her and let her know where she's at. even if she does'nt come home she knows where her daughter is and it's been a long time that she hasnt heard from her and the family is very worried."adding to their worry...richmond police came to her mom's door thursday morning around midnight saying they tried to stop the car her daughter was last driving but instead found a male driver inside who ran away with davis no where in sight. ( marty ) police are trying to track down more car break-in suspects. take a look... morgan hill police got several calls of a suspicious vehicle roaming neighborhoods. police say, the vehicle was connected to a number of thefts from unlocked vehicles. surveillance video

( marty )in vallejo... police are looking for the person who made 18 people sick in a pepper spray attack thursday. here's a surveillance photo of ther suspect. it happened at a walgreens store on springs road in vallejo. 2 store employees were taken to the hospital... and more than a dozen others were treated at the scene. employees say a person walked into the store and first pepper sprayed a woman who works there... and then a second employee who tried to help her. police are asking that anyone who recognizes the person in the picture to call them. ( marty )in san francsico -- the search is on for a suspect ... wanted for an assault earlier this month. pay attention to the very top of your screen ... you can see a white car, pulling up to the

intersection. this surveillence video also shows... the victim waiting on the street corner for a rideshare service, then the white vehicle pulls up next to him. police say, the victim thought the vehicle was her rideshare. the suspect exits the vehicle and punches the victim, he fell to the ground and suffered life threatening injuries. the suspect returned to his white car and fled the scene. san francisco police released this sketch of the person believed to be the suspect. he is described as a 6-foot tall asian man... last seen wearing a black t-shirt and black jeans. he was seen leaving the scene in a white, four- door sedan , with silver rims and black ( marty )san jose police have arrested a 90-year-old man ... on suspicion of murdering his stepdaughter, karen navarra. police say it was information they found on the victim's 'fit-bit' that led to an arrest. kron four's gabe slate has the taped to the door 1057 terra noble way in san jose is the red paper notice of an animal seizure from the home the

reason listed "the owner deceased". this is where police say on september 13th they responded to a welfare check in request and found 67-year-old karen navarra dead, at first it appeared to be a suicide she had a knife in her hand and wounds in several places on her body, but after an autopsy was performed, karen navarra's death was ruled a homicide navarra had suffered multiple skull fractures which were "inconsistent with being self- inflicted or accidental,"stand up - police say information gathered from a wearable tech device and video images captured by nearby surveillance camera provided the crack in the case. detectives used data collected by karen navarra's fitbit, a fitbit similar to this one, to determine when her heart stopped beating.investigators say that information combined with video surveillance footage lead to the arrest of karen's killer. anthony aiello , karen's 90-year-old stepfather. investigators say video captured shows anthony aiello enters house, soon after the fit bit recorded

karen's heartbeat rapidly accelerating before suddenly stopping altogether. san jose police arrested anthony aeillo for suspicion of murder. he is being held without bail in the santa clara county jail, his next court appearance is oct. 4th. i spoke with several neighbors on the block, who didn't want to do an official interview on camera, but wanted to express their condolences to karen's family, and they wanted to express the shock they felt that this happened in their normally quiet safe neighborhood in san jose gabe slate kron 4 news. ( marty ) ( marty ) a woman in the north bay was held captive in an apartment and narrowly escapes her attacker. the terrifying encounter happened in rohnert park. police have arrested the suspect. kron four's philippe djegal has the story. (philippe) a 25-year-old

woman tells the rohnert park department of public safety that when she stopped by this apartment on joanne court late wednesday night... she intended only to pick-up some school books she loaned to a 25-year-old acquaintance of hers -- sergio heredia- trujillo. instead, she says heredia-trujillo threatened her with a knife, pulled her pants down and ripped off her underwear... before attempting to rape her. no name/neighbor- "i'm not used to this and so it was scary because everybody was alseep." the victim called 9-1-1 more than five hours after the ordeal started... she was able to escape the apartment after alledging heredia-trujillo also bit and choked her... telling her to stay quiet, or else he'd kill her. the woman tells investigators she knocked on her neighbor's doors for help but no one initially answered... until someone finally let her in to call police.pujjal khanal/neighbor- "it's very unfortunate what happened." not everyone heard the woman's pleas for help.no name/neighbor- "i'm a light sleeper, and i didn't hear any noise at all before that. before the police and all that. i didn't hear any

noises -- i didn't hear anything. anything out of the ordinary." the d-p-s says heredia-trujillo lives here, but is not on the lease. a neighbor says he was arrested in the grass outside the apartment. police later discovered six cars in the area with smashed windows... and, broken glass in heredia- trujillio's pockets. the d-p-s believes he was intoxicated and under the influence of alcohol at the time.no name/neighbor- "in that situation, i wouldn't come to this situation, go up with a person that you don't really know. or, even if you know, if you know that person, and you know that can be trouble, you wouldn't go." heredia-trujillo is being held at the sonoma county jail. his bail set at 50-thousand dollars. he was booked on a list of charges... including assault with intent to commit rape, assault with a deadly weapon... kidnapping, false imprisonment and sexual battery. in rohnert park, philippe djegal, kron four news. ( marty ) police across the state have arrested more suspects in the wide- ranging

robberies at some 50 apple stores in california. and we're getting our first look at the suspects. all of them are young men.ranging in age from18 to 23. these are photos of 10 of the 17 suspects. they have been booked into the alameda county jail. just over the last month in the bay area ... there were crimes in santa rosa, emeryville, and corte madera. and police say they're not done yet.they have warrants out for 6 other suspects said to be involved in this criminal ring which took about a million dollars worth of apple products. ( marty ) governor brown vetoed a bill that would have let certain california cities extend the sale of alcohol till 4- a-m. the author of the bill--- san francisco's state senator scott weiner issued a statement following the decision. weiner says, quote "times have changed.. and our policies should as well." he says ... increasing security following the massive hack that exposed nearly 50- million users. the breach exploited facebook's "view- as" feature, which lets user's view their page the way other people on facebook would see it. exploiting the feature gave attackers the ability to potentially take control of the accounts. facebook says, it does not know who the hackers are or where they were based. according to the company, the issue has been fixed and reported to the f-b-i. it is not clear yet if exposed user information was actually accessed. to deal with the issue... facebook reset some logins... so 90- million people have been logged out... and will have to log in again.

repair efforts at the salesforce transit center. construction of a temporary fix could begin as early as today. earlier this week, cracks were discovered in two support beams. that forced the shutdown of the brand new transit center. that has caused a traffic nightmare for commuters in san francisco. on friday, repairs crews spent another day surveying the area above fremont street where the damaged beams were found. steel support structures will be anchored in the middle of fremont street to relieve stress on the cracked beams. ( marty ) the materials for the shoring up process are expected to arrive today ... and the actual construction work will take at least a week. meaning that stretch of fremont street won't reopen until next friday at the earliest. ( marty ) everyone in the bay area is getting a chance

to weigh in on a plan to charge a fee to get on and off treasure island. this would be on top of the bay bridge toll. the money would be used to build new homes and a new transit service on the island. residents called the plan a bad idea at a recent meeting. . if the plan is passed... drivers would have to pay seven dollars - to get on and off of the island during peak hours.a few more public meetings are scheduled to talk about the plan. voting on the proposal will be in a few months. on suspicion of murdering his stepdaughter, karen navarra. police say it was information they found on the victim's 'fit-bit' that led to an arrest. kron four's gabe slate has the story. taped to the door 1057 terra noble way in san jose is the red paper notice of an animal seizure from the home the reason listed "the owner deceased". this is where police say on september 13th they responded to a welfare check in request and found 67-year-old karen navarra dead, at first it appeared to be a suicide she had a knife in her hand and wounds in several places on her body, but after an autopsy was performed, karen navarra's death was ruled a homicide navarra had suffered multiple skull fractures which were "inconsistent with being self- inflicted or accidental,"stand up - police say information gathered from a wearable tech device and video images captured by nearby surveillance camera provided the crack in the case. detectives used data collected by karen navarra's fitbit, a fitbit similar to this one, to determine when her heart

( marty ) a woman in the north bay was held captive in an apartment and narrowly escapes her attacker. the terrifying encounter happened in rohnert park. police have arrested the suspect. kron four's philippe djegal has the story. (philippe) a 25-year-old woman tells the rohnert park department of public safety that when she stopped by this apartment on joanne court late wednesday night... she intended only to pick-up some school books she loaned to a 25-year-old acquaintance of hers -- sergio heredia- trujillo. instead, she says heredia-trujillo threatened her with a knife, pulled her pants down and ripped off her underwear... before attempting to rape her. no name/neighbor- "i'm not used to this and so it was scary because everybody was alseep." the victim called 9-1-1 more than five hours after the ordeal started... she was able to escape the apartment after alledging heredia-trujillo also bit and choked her... telling her to stay quiet, or else he'd kill her. the woman tells

investigators she knocked on her neighbor's doors for help but no one initially answered... until someone finally let her in to call police.pujjal khanal/neighbor- "it's very unfortunate what happened." not everyone heard the woman's pleas for help.no name/neighbor- "i'm a light sleeper, and i didn't hear any noise at all before that. before the police and all that. i didn't hear any noises -- i didn't hear anything. anything out of the ordinary." the d-p-s says heredia-trujillo lives here, but is not on the lease. a neighbor says he was arrested in the grass outside the apartment. police later discovered six cars in the area with smashed windows... and, broken glass in heredia- trujillio's pockets. the d-p-s believes he was intoxicated and under the influence of alcohol at the time.no name/neighbor- "in that situation, i wouldn't come to this situation, go up with a person that you don't really know. or, even if you know, if you know that person, and you know that can be trouble, you wouldn't go." heredia-trujillo is being held at the sonoma county jail. his bail set at 50-thousand dollars. he was booked on a list of charges... including assault with intent to commit rape, assault with a deadly weapon... kidnapping, false imprisonment

above fremont street where the damaged beams were found. steel support structures will be anchored in the middle of fremont street to relieve stress on the cracked beams. ( marty ) the materials for the shoring up process are expected to arrive today ... and the actual construction work will take at least a week. meaning that stretch of fremont street won't reopen until next friday at the earliest. ( marty ) in the east bay, police are investigating a possible threat at dublin high school. kron 4's charles clifford reports, the school district says someone threatened to harm students there on monday. well, this is homecoming weekend here at dublin high school and the school district is taking this threat seriously.in a note sent to parents and posted on the dublin school disrict website, the district says that "an anonymous threat has

( marty )san jose police have arrested a 90-year-old man ... on suspicion of murdering his stepdaughter, karen navarra. police say it was information they found on the victim's 'fit-bit' that led to an arrest. kron four's gabe slate has the story. taped to the door 1057 terra noble way in san jose is the red paper notice of an animal seizure from the home the reason listed "the owner deceased". this is where police say on september 13th they responded to a welfare check in request and found 67-year-old karen navarra dead, at first it appeared to be a suicide she had a knife in her hand and wounds in several places on her body, but after an autopsy was performed, karen navarra's death was ruled a homicide navarra had suffered multiple skull fractures which were

"inconsistent with being self- inflicted or accidental,"stand up - police say information gathered from a wearable tech device and video images captured by nearby surveillance camera provided the crack in the case. detectives used data collected by karen navarra's fitbit, a fitbit similar to this one, to determine when her heart stopped beating.investigators say that information combined with video surveillance footage lead to the arrest of karen's killer. anthony aiello , karen's 90-year-old stepfather. investigators say video captured shows anthony aiello enters house, soon after the fit bit recorded karen's heartbeat rapidly accelerating before suddenly stopping altogether. san jose police arrested anthony aeillo for suspicion of murder. he is being held without bail in the santa clara county jail, his next court appearance is oct. 4th. i spoke with several neighbors on the block, who didn't want to do an official interview on camera, but wanted to express their condolences to karen's family, and they wanted to express the shock they felt that this happened in their normally quiet safe neighborhood in san jose gabe slate kron 4 news.
