( robin )students at stanford university have been alerted by campus police about a possible sex crime reported over the weekend. kron four's philippe djegal reports... that the victim may have been drugged. (philippe) a woman who studies at stanford university struggled to recall what may have happened to her at an event on mayfield avenue late saturday night... but her friends relayed to the campus department of public safety that she may be the victim of a sexual assault and battery. no name/woman- "i was disappointed to see an alert about a situation where women were possibly being drugged at a party of the stanford campus." this street, also known as "the row," is home to some of the university's fraternities and sororities. and, it is along this road where a community alert sent out by stanford to students and staff states a woman took a sip of some funny tasting water from a man she didn't know at an event. her friends say the woman may have also been groped by that same man on the dance floor.anna-

sofia/student- "it's great that she was with her friends and i think it was ultimately her friends that let her out of the house and kind of away from that, from that area. so, that's a great system. just having your friends around and kind of having people that you trust and that you know go to these things with you and having a check-in system is always a great idea." but some students feel it's unfortunate that a buddy- system may be neccesary to stay safe in public. nick/student- "it's not on the girl's friends to take care of her other girl herself, like, that's uh something to do with the culture here." the department of public safety says it's unclear if the man involved is also a student. this comes on the heals of a woman reported being raped on the main campus in august. in palo alto, philippe djegal, kron four news. ( robin ) new this morning... police in oakland detained a man who was asleep in his car ..with what appeared to be two hand guns. this happened early this morning on the 96-hundred block of coral road. the man complied with commands and was detained. the guns turned out to be replicas. police have not said if the

( robin )also new this morning... a bay area man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for producing child pornography. 49-year-old douglas pip-pert pleaded guilty to the charge in june. pip-pert admitted to producing pornogrpahic images of at least two minors while they were unconscious. ( robin ) the overdose deaths of two teenagers in two days have police in livermore warning parents to talk with their kids about drugs. police say both of the teens were opioid users.. but they are now looking into whether the opioid was paced with something deadly. officials say across the state fentanyal is getting mixed with cocanine and meth-am- phta-mine and heroin. while they aren't sure if fentanyl was present in the teens deaths or if they were related.. they say parents need to warn kids now about drugs... and the access they have to them. ( robin )happening now - a homicide investigation is underway near half moon bay. a man was found dead in a parking lot just off highway-

one near tunitas creek beach. kron 4 's charles clifford had details. well, right now i'm standing just off highway one above tunitas creek state beach. the crime scene investigation has wrapped up here but there's is still evidence on the ground. including blood. so far, investigators have not identified the victim or named any suspects in this killing. aroudn 7 tuesday morning the san mateo county sheriff's office recieved a report of a man on the ground near tunitas creek beach about 8 miles south of half moon bay. deputies arriving on scene found a male in the parking lot of an overlook above the beach. an ambulane was also called to the scene but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. the sheriff's office is now treating case this as a homicide investigation.this is the second homicide along the coast in san mateo county this year. back on febuary 14th, 53-year-old san francisco resident gilberto martin rodriguez was found shot to death in the parking lot of gray whale cover state beach near montara. in that case, an autopsy determined that rodriguez had been shot the

previous evening. no suspect or motives have been identified in that case.as of tuesday afternoon, the victim near tunitas beach had not yet been identified. sheriff's office detectives had the parking lot, just off highway 1, closed down for severl hours on tuesday. so far, no suspects have been identified and a motive for this murder also remains a mystery.anyone who may might have information about this case is asked to contact the san mateo county sheriff's office.in san mateo county, charles clifford kron 4 news. ( robin )a new report says a cracked window in the troublem millennium tower in san francisco... was not because the enormous building is tilting and sinking. city officials say the crack on the 36th floor is the result of something hitting the outside of the window...but the report doesn't say what struck the glass. the cracked window was discovered in early september and has been átaped and a replacement window has been ordered. homeowners have filed multiple lawsuits against the developer and the city. what's being done to fix the cracked support beams... on the new transbay transit center. officials say the center will remain closed until 0ctober 12. the massive jacks put in to shore up cracked girders are only phase one of the temporary solution. phase two... which is still being designed... is expected to get fully underway in the next few days. buses will not be allowed to drive onto the bus deck until the permanent fix is in place. it could be possible that the roof deck could be reopened to the public in early november. ( robin )on the peninsula... the n-t-s-b has released its preliminary report in a plane crash that killed a pilot and injured two others last month in palo alto. the report says the pilot -- w. john spencer -- had trouble finding the airport... despite having flown to it several times in the past.. spencer was providing a free flight for a woman and her daughter through the nonprofit "angel flight west" organization when the plane crashed on september 4th. witnesses say they saw the plane bouncing on the runway during an attempt to land... then lift off again and bank steeply to the left before decending to the ground. spencer had been volunteering for the nonprofit since 20-14... had donated more than 125 flights to

families... and had flown to the airport three other times. ( robin )also on the peninsula... if you're trying to find parking along e el camino... good luck. many of those parking spaces have been claimed by folks living in rv's and other vehicles. as kron four's rob fladeboe reports... most of them are not breaking the law. rob fladeboe/palo alto ".....on any given day or night there can be as many as 100 rv's, pickup trucks and other vehicles parked here along the el camino in palo alto and a few dozen more on side streets.it's not a new phenomenon and by no means unique to palo alto but a solution to what neighbors and business owners say is a big problem has been elusive so far. palo alto police say they got more than a thousand complaints last year and are on pace for a similar number this year. they have issued warnings and citations and have towed some vehicles. but the bottom line is that as long as the vehicles do not remian in the same spot for more than 72 hours they are not breaking the law says palo alto police captain zach perron.captain zach perron/palo alto police "....somebody driving down the el camino every day might

( robin )in the south bay... the west nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes in the southern part of santa clara county. to try and prevent human cases of the virus the vector control district will be spraying mosquito treatment in san martin and surrounding areas starting at 11 p-m on thursday. if you live in the area officials are asking you to keep your windows closed and stay inside while they while they treat the area. the treatment will take about three hours and is centered near highland avenue and santa teresa boulevard. bishops in california including the bay area... of covering up sexual abuse by clergy. the lawsuit was filed yesterday by an advocacy group that represents abuse victims. attorney jeff anderson said the lawsuit is to quote "identify and force and cause all the bishops in california to come clean with the secrets that they know." he also said the church has a history of hiding priest's names. ( darya ) a big story this morning.. police are investigating a homicide in half moon bay. a man was found dead in a parking lot just off highway one near tunitas creek beach yesterday morning. the man has not been identified yet.. and deputies don't have a motive. the parking lot was closed off for most of the day while investigators searched for evidence. this is the second homicide this year along the coast in san mateo county. ( james ) a new development this morning. the n-t-s-b has released its preliminary report on a plane crash that killed a pilot and

injured two others last month in palo alto. the report says the pilot... w. john spencer... had trouble finding the airport despite having flown to it several times in the past. spencer was providing a free flight for a woman and her daughter through the nonprofit "angel flight west" organization when the plane organization when the plane crashed on september 4th. witnesses say they saw the plane bouncing on the runway during an attempt to land. spencer had been volunteering for the nonprofit since 20-14... and had flown to the airport three other times. ( james ) a bay area man has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for producing child pornography. 49-year-old douglas pippert pleaded guilty to the charge in june. pippert admitted to producing pornogrpahic images of at least two minors while they were unconscious. alerted by campus police about a possible sex crime reported over the weekend. as kron four's philippe djegal reports ... the victim may have been drugged. a woman who studies at stanford university struggled to recall what may have happened to her at an event on mayfield avenue late saturday night... but her friends relayed to the campus department of public safety that she may be the victim of a sexual assault and battery. no name/woman- "i was disappointed to see an alert about a situation where women were possibly being drugged at a party of the stanford campus." this street, also known as "the row," is home to some of the university's fraternities and sororities. and, it is along this road where a community alert sent out by stanford to students and staff states a woman took a sip of some funny tasting water from a man she didn't know at an event. her friends say the woman may have also been groped by that same man on the dance floor.anna- sofia/student- "it's great that she was with her friends and i think it was ultimately

reno nevada ... rescued three bear cubs that got stuck in their garbage container.( james ) the crew heard the container tip overnight ... and when they went to check on it in the morning ... they saw a mother bear near it. they quickly figured out there were cubs trapped inside. while one fireman distracted the mama bear ... another lifted the lid so the three cubs could escape. all three of them ran off back to into the woods.fire officials want to warn people to always let professionals deal with bears. ( darya ) a growing number of people are living in r-v's and other vehicles on city streets across the bay area. but people in palo alto say it's a big problem that needs to be sovled. last year palo alto police say they received more than a thousand complaints about r-v's.. and so far this year they are on pace to match that. police have issued some citations and towed some vehicles ... but they say as long as the vehicles do not remain ithe same spot for more than 72 hours they are not breaking the law. a similar situation exists in

( james ) new this morning... police in oakland detained a man who was asleep in his car with what appeared to be two hand guns. this happened early this morning on the 96-hundred block of coral road. the man complied with commands and was detained. the guns turned out to be replicas. police have not said if the man was arrested. ( james ) in the north bay.. all of the animal rights activists who were arrested saturday at a chicken farm have been released. this is a picture from the scene in petaluma. the sonoma county district attorney's office said it needed more time to investigate possible charges against the activists but did not file any paper work. a sonoma county judge relased the activists tuesday afternoon.
