it's not everyday that you see a home in the bay area listed for less than 500-thousand dollars. this fixer-upper is 220-thousand... and the land alone is valued way more than that. the home sits in oakland on foothill boulevard... has two bedrooms... and two bathrooms... and sits on a 47-hundred sqaure foot lot. theres also a fireplace and garage. the house was severely damaged by a fire. ( robin )amazon may be giving workers a pay boost, but they are also cutting bonuses and stock benefits. the company says they will end bonuses next month... which paid workers áextra based on their attendance and warehouse productivity. they will also phase out a restricted stock program... which gave workers shares if they stayed at amazon for a certain amount of years. they say it will be replaced with another program next year... but didn't provide details.

christine blasey ford, again, that pal lowal though professor, accusing bog bog of sexual assault criticizing the scope of the investigation. her attorneys said the investigation did not include interviewing ford or any witnesses who confirmed her story. we know that special agents spoke to people about a party on july 1st of 1982 which was listed on kavanaugh's high school calendar. democrats have pointed to the party as a get together as possibly the same party where the palo alto professor said she was sexually assaulted. according to the "wall street journal," investigators said they did not find evidence to corroborate her evidence. one thing not part of it is kavanaugh's drinking. a room made said kavanaugh was not being truthful about that. >> i saw him when he arrived home regularly and in the

transit center in france. >> crews are expected to remove jacks and replace them with columns. we have the latest. >> reporter: the jack you're talking about is smack dab in the middle of that transbay terminal. they will remove those and put in alcohol lum -- put in columns. this is phase two of what they've been doing to make sure they clan fix this temporarily to get a test of the beams that were cracked. this will take a little bit of time. the crews will be building this shoring system that takes a load off those. it will extend from the bottom of the roof deck down four levels. the construction manager told them of the joint powers authority that once it's in place workers can safely take a sample of this steel for testing which will help them

determine why the cracks occurred in the first place and show how to design a permanent fix which is important. they are expected to take up to two weeks. while buses will not be allowed to drive until the permanent fix is in place, this could be possible that the roof deck could be reopened to the public in early november. now the cost of all of this is unknown. it appears taxpayers will not be footing the bill send the building is still under warranty. that's what we're told. this main downtown artery will remain closed until further notice and the traffic continues to shall a problem -- to be a problem. it's just 5:00 in the morning and there's a ton of traffic. this is where the detour s so people are having to -- detour is. so people are having to go left or right. keep that in mind. i think people are realizing they have to get here early. that's what's causing so much traffic so early in the morning.

amtrak station. she was attempting to purchase a ticket but never got on the bus. her father said she was going to enter a rehab center in san francisco and was later transported to a hospital in martinez. avant called a friend from the ham track station for a ride but the friend said they were busy and that's the last known contact show had. her father said they have a great relationship and it's not like she wouldn't check in with him. >> the reason we're so freaked out, the people who know sidney, the people who raised her and love her, we know who she is and what she is. this is not -- she is not a street person. she doesn't have the survival skills to be out on the street. >> so they would like you to be on the lookout for her. she sometimes goes by the name zoe black. if you have seen her, contact the police. police in san mateo have arrested a home burglar after

recognizing him from surveillance -- surveillance video. the home security caught a man inside the home, so there was video but when officers got there they couldn't find him after identifying the burglar from the video. they arrested 19-year-old kenson rencline. officers found the stolen property from the burglary from the home with him. the police department is considering adopting a new policy that deals with the way they interact with people who are transgender and nongender conforming. the new policy would prohibit discrimination based on gender expression peelings. officers would have to refer to them by their adopted name and treat them in accordance with their gender identity. officers will also be unable to require proof or challenge a person's identity. with regard to strip searches or any searches that goes

a.m. this morning. once we get there, you're going to have plenty of sunshine. this morning we have a line of showers working through men doe seen know county and even portions of napa and marin. here's a look at the past 18 hours as far as rain. right around 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., the state was lit up. that included the east bay has thunderstorms flaired up for those watching in contra costa and alameda county, and as we work our way into the phone you don't have to worry about thunderstorms. this area of cooler air is pushing in. it's going to result in some nice mild temperatures as well as those muggy conditions easing a little bit. so we're going to have some drier cooler air. overall some clear skies, too, that will make it very nice for

associated with a line of cooler air pushing and that will drop temperatures but also will clear out the monkey feeling. clearing skies in the afternoon uncomfortable temperatures, a very nice thursday and the start of a nice weather trend ahead of us. 60s and 70s by 3:00 under sunny skies and that is a quick look at the forecast. minor delays at the richmond san rafael bridge, as expected in the cash lanes and on the left, a little bit of a crowd but that is normal and no major issues. we don't have major problems but it's always a good idea to leave early because you never know what will pop up. a lot of folks in your way at the bay bridge toll plaza and it goes back to west grand. that is normal and then you will be fine across the upper deck. fremont street closed, mission to howard will be slow at the bottom of the offramp and you may want to avoid it.

breaking news out of san francisco. hotel workers are protesting their wages. >> they are out this morning. we have more from the marriott hotel in union square where it looks like they are picketing behind you. >> reporter: i'm at the westin st. frcis but this will affect this protest with seven marriott's throughout san francisco with the workers under local union two walking off the job or have walked off the job. they walked off at 4:00 this morning and we have patrick kirby, a janitor here for 26 years. why did you walkout? >> recalled people on strike and we are here to fight for a living wage, better health care and better pensions. in san francisco, a city that is so hard to live in with prices so high and rent so high. most people can't afford to live here on one job, not enough for san francisco.

>> reporter: you are asking for $2.20 per hour for the next five years increase. you said much of that money will go to healthcare because of the skyrocketing cost of healthcare? >> our kaiser plan is raising over 70%. the majority goes to healthcare made its out of our pockets. >> reporter: we talked about having a living wage and you said one job should be enough. a lot of people have more than to live here with more than one job? >> some of them work in multiple hotels and some do other jobs on the side. some have a husband or wife partner that works to support the income and the family, raising kids. >> reporter: a lot of them can't afford to live in san francisco and coworkers have to commute an hour or 1.5 hours? >> some come from oakland, alameda and as far away as antioch.

reporting in san francisco, lydia pantazes, kron4 news. >> what a way for hotel guests towake up. i guess that is the point to get the message out loud and strong. in the east bay, sheriff's deputies charged with four felonies after an investigation into illegally recorded conversations. in august, it was discovered that the sergeant james russell, and alameda county sheriffs department employee, was illegally recording conversations between juveniles in custody and their attorneys. and internal investigation was launched after the discovery. the four cases date back to march 2014. >> nobody is above the law. when law enforcement commits a crime, they will be held accountable just like any other member of the community. >> he will be arraigned on october 17th. four cell phone stores were burglarized in the east bay cities within 30 minutes of

each other. two happened at the sprint and at&t store at the creighton valley shopping center in concord at 5:45 last night in 15 minutes later, another burglary at the verizon store at the oak grove plaza and all three of them involved the same two men wearing black hoods over their heads and the fourth occurred just after 6:00 at the at&t store in pleasant hill. police in those towns believe the crimes are related. we are learning more about the two teenagers who died within days of each other, both suspected of overdosing on opioids. they been identified as a 16- year-old named ocean move and the other is justin miles. they had struggled with addictions and the boy might have purchased counterfeit xanax. students at grenada high said that the school district had sent a letter home about those deaths and they were saying

confirm judge brett kavanaugh to the supreme court. >> senators are allowed to start reading over, in a private room, one by one, the report the fbi finished on the investigation into sexual allegations made by palo alto professor, christine blasey ford. >> that report is receiving criticism. lawyers for ford criticized the scope of the investigation. her attorneys said it did not include interviewing ford or any witnesses that could have confirmed her story. they know special agents spoke to people about a party on july 1, 1982 listed in the high school calendar, but democrats pointed to that july 1 get together as possibly the same party that blasey ford said she was sexually assaulted at. according to the wall street journal, sources say the investigation did not find evidence to corroborate her story. one thing not part of the investigation was her drinking -- kavanaugh's drinking habits. they said the nominee is not

[ crowd chanting ] seven hotels total, 2300 workers striking. i have nicholas with me. he works here and is on strike. tell me why you were here this morning. >> we are here because we've been talking with this company for a while. since june. they've not taken the concerns of the workers here seriously. myself, in particular.

take the load off the cracked beams and the system will extend from the bottom of the roof deck, down four levels. the manager told the board of directors that the joint power authority, once in place, workers can take a safe sample of the steel for testing to determine why the cracks occurred in the first place. then, they can figure out how to design a permanent fix. they are expecting this to take up to two weeks. it won't happen immediately and during that time, buses won't be able to drive onto the deck but they may open up the upper deck to the public by november. it appears taxpayers will not be footing the bill because the building is still under warranty. since this is going on, the permanent fix is after that and they are not rushing because they want to make sure that when they fix this, it is permanent. this is ongoing and traffic is

ongoing, as well. it's 6:00 right now and there is tons of traffic on fremont street with people having to take the detour over howard that is causing congestion, as we've seen for the last week. live in san francisco, i'm sara stinson. a man has died with the struggle after san mateo county sheriff's deputy. police were called to a man running in a note of traffic on the 1300 block of el camino real. official said when the deputy arrived and tried to make contact with the men, he assaulted the deputy and the deputy was taken to a local hospital and treated for injuries. the man was taken to the hospital and later died in officials said a taser was used on that person. the blue angels will take to the skies to start practicing for the big show this weekend. >> we have will tran with the latest at the airport. >> reporter: the blue angels

opioids. one of them is the stepson of a famous cartoonist who shared his grief on social media. >> yes. >> reporter: scott adams, the creator of dilbert, struggles to contain himself as he addresses this on a periscope video. >> i got the call right after the 911 alert. it was from my ex-wife who told me that my stepson, the little boy that i raised from the age of two, was dead. >> reporter: according to livermore pd, there were two back-to-back suspected ods involving known opioid abusers. it prompted them to put out an alert to warn the community of the possibility that the drugs the teens were taking were mixed with fentanyl, a very powerful opioid that led to many deaths in the u.s. sometimes it

was mixed with other drugs like heroin and methamphetamines and sold to unsuspecting users. >> the coroners found a fentanyl patch on his arm. >> reporter: adams, who said his stepson struggled with addiction since aged 14, had purchased counterfeit xanax and that could have been laced with a deadly opioid. students at livermore high school said 16-year-old, oceana muth, who died monday, was once a student there and those who knew her were very upset. parents are extremely concerned and are trying to make sure their kids understand the dangers. >> these drugs are becoming more and more dangerous and addictive and they put you into an immediate mortal danger and it's very upsetting. >> reporter: the unified school district sent a letter home to parents alerting them of the deaths of the two teenagers, letting them know that school counselors would be on hand. they will provide support as

from 37 to the toll plaza. richmond bridge drive less than 20 min from the toll to 101 ( james ) in the east bay ... the community of san leandro gathered together to remember mariah davis. friends say davis was an active member of the social justice acemy and fought to help others. they said she fought for domestic violence.. after ending her two byear relationship with anthony pimentel.. who polcie say admitted that he killed her. davis' mother sat front and center at the vigil while friends spoke about davis' life. ( james ) pimentel appeared in court yesterday afternoon. davis' family says they will show up to every court appearance. ( james ) we are also learning more about pinmentel's confession to police. according to court documents he admitted that he strangled his girlfriend and then covered the body with tree branches. pinmentel's arraignment was postponed until november 8th.

( darya ) a bay area man is searching for his daughter who went missing two weeks ago. 24-year-old sidney avant was last seen at the martinez amtrck station attempting to purchase a ticket. her father says she entered a rehab center in san francicso and was later transported to a hospital in martinez. avant called a friend from the amtrak station for a ride but they could not help. that's the last known contact she has had with her friends and family. her dad says they have a great relationship and its not like her to not check in.

( darya ) in the east bay... a sheriff's deputy has been charged with four felonies following an investigation into illegally recording conversations. in august it was discovered that sergant james russell with the alameda county sheriff's department was illegally recording confidental conversations between juveniles in custody and their attorneys. the department launched an internal investigation after the discovery of the recordings. the four cases date back to march of 20-18.

brett harte middle school ... and then, replace them with affordable housing for teachers and other district employees. the two schools would then be re-built on or near some vacant, district- owned land. more than 3- thousand people have signed a petition opposing the idea. ( james ) in the south bay... santa clara polcie are investigating the chief executive officer of the santa clara swim club for embezzling more than 600-thousand dollars. the club's board members alleges john bitter misappropriated the funds. last thursday the board voted to terminiate bitter. bitter began working for the swim club in 19-95. ( darya ) a federal judge in san francisco has ordered the trump admindistration to allow more than 300-thousand immigrants to remain in the u- s. the judge has issued a block on the administrations plan to end the temporary protected status from those countries. the order will remain in effect until a full trial is held on a lawsuit filed by nine immigrants and five citizwn chidlren. a hearing is scheduled for october 26th for the next steps to be taken. ( darya ) the san francisco police commission is considering adopting a new policy that deals with the way they interact with people who
