year since fires tore through santa rosa leaving thousands without a home.... and now a santa rosa veteran who lost his home in last year's firestorm is rebuilding and plans to move back home next year. kron 4's j-r stone has his story.
4:49 am
imagine living in a home that looked like this one afternoon and looked like this the next. that's exactly what brian beaudoin and his wife dealt with last year in santa rosa when the tubbs fire destroyed their home.that night we watched the flames come up and over the hill didn't realize how devastating it was going to become because we were the first wave. the first six to eight hours.fast forward a year later...beaudoin and his family have come a long way. his future house, which is located in a neighborhood off of fountaingrove parkway, is actually starting to resemble a home. it could be done by early next year. as to what beaudoin was able to salvage... the stuff you didn't want that is the stuff that survives the stuff that makes it. anything you really want it's gone for some reason some crappy little tea cup that you got that you didn't know what to do with. that made it.brian says that telling his story has become sort of therapudic to him. he likes to laugh and joke about
4:50 am
his situation but admits that what happened was tough.it was a bit traumatic. i tell people it's almost like loosing a family member cause yeah it's just stuff and it's a house but it's everything you had all your memories tapes and pictuers...all that stuff is gone.in this quadcopter 4 video you can see that most of the debris in beaudoin's neighborhood has been cleared but most of the lots remain empty. it's harder to build in this fountaingrove area. the houses that burned were origionally custom made and more permits are required because of the hills. as to
4:51 am
his most cherished items.....brian says his baseball card collection that included micky mantle and willie mays burned in the fire. perhaps the hardest loss are the items linked to his time serving our country in the navy.used to be in the submarines so i lost my sword and everything associated with my submarines that i was on. you can't replace that stuff i had plaques signed by ronald regan and captain...never get those back.but brian and his family are healthy and excited about what's to come in their new home.either you let it consume you turn it into something that is all negative or you just go well life gives you lemons and let's go make some lemonade. i don't know what other options you have. ( robin ) caltrain has reopened two san francisco stations after a weekend closure to prepare tunnels for electrification. cal-train's goal is to have 75-percent of it's fleet to be electric by 2022... those trains would be greener...
4:52 am
faster and would carry more passengers. the 22nd street and 4th and king stops will be closed on weekends until next spring. caltrain will offer a bus bridge for passengers. ( robin ) another big story we are following... a new climate change report says "unprecedented changes" need to be made to combat global warming. world leaders commissioned the report as part of the 20-15 paris agreement. to combat the rise in global warming... the report says global emissions of carbon dioxide would need to fall by 45% by the year 2030... and be down to zero by the year 20-50. ( robin ) now to bay area football... it was not a good day for bay area teams. the 49ers got off to a good start scoring a touchdown on their opening drive against the arizona cardinals, but it went down hill from there.
4:53 am
49er quarterback c-j beathard threw for 349 yards and two touchdowns but he also threw 2 interceptions. the niners had five turnovers in the game. they lost to the cardinals by a final of 28 to 18. ( robin ) things were not any better for the raiders... in san diego taking on the chargers. philip riveres gave the chargers a 7 point lead in the second quarter. for the raiders ...derek carr throws for 268 yards in the game with one touchdown an one interception. the chargers win by a final of 26 to 10. the raiders take on the seahawks next week at the coliseum. "i just... i just don't feel comfortable.""a star is born," starring bradley cooper and lady gaga, overperformed in its debut, earning 41- point-three million dollars. "take him down."
