breaking overnight... 4 people are displaced after a house fire in san jose. this happened just before 11:30 last night on mt. mckinley court. it took firefighters about 25 minutes to put out the fire. no people were injured but a dog did die in this fire. investigators are still trying to figure out the fire started. ( robin ) happening now... firefighters are working to get the branscombe fire undercontrol in solano county. it flared up again monday... destroying a home. kron 4's ella sogomonian has the latest. the flare-up happened at grizzly island road in suisun city. the flames spread from the vegetation to the deck of a house. the house was burned and crews were cleaning up the area late into the night. firefighters say that the marsh land in the area is making it difficult to fight the fire. so far the

branscombe fire has burned 45- hundred acres but it is 80% contained this morning. ( robin ) the catholic diocese of oakland says it will release the names of priests who have been credibily accused of abusing minors.... saying it's the right thing to do. oakland now joins the san jose diocese... which also says that it plans to release the names of priests... kron 4's dan kerman has the

latest. the diocese of oakland in a letter to parishioners first published in the diocese newspaper has announced in 45 days it "will release the names of all clergy... who have been credibly accused of sexually abusing a minor. sot melanie sakoda/ s.n.a.p. 12-22 it's a good step in that it will protect kids now by telling us who these peopole are and where they aremelanie sakoda is the bay area leader of snap, the survivors network of those abused by priests. she's not surprised by the decision saying many bishops have done the same thing since a pennsylvania grand jury in august found more than 300 priests in pennsylvania molested more than 1,000 children since the 1940's and senior church officials systematically covered up the abuse."sotit helps survivors to heal , people thought they were the only victim but if his name is out there, it is a step in them feeling validated. standup dan kerman/sf 107-117

(robin) new this morning... san francisco fire rescued the person who fell at fort funston.it happend just after 5 monday afternoon.the victim was taken to a hospital and listed in serious condition. (robin) also new this morning... two men are now facing charges after police say they carjacked and then kidnapped a man in fairfield back in september.(map) it happened near the intersection of travis boulevard and north texas street. the victim told police he was returning lost property to a co- worker... when that co-worker and another man forced him into the passenger seat and drove off. the victim was able to jump out of the car

and give police the names of his attackers. (robin) happening npow... police in san bruno are looking for the driver of an s-u-v who hit a pedestrian and then drove off.it happened friday night in the southbond lanes of el camino real near san felipe avenue.the 50-year- old man was taken to a hospital with major injuries. police believe the car involved is a dark red or maroon s-u-v, similar to a ford edge. (robin) also happening now... investigators in san mateo are hoping surveillance video will help them find the three man who robbed and attacked a man with a stun gun.the robbery happened at a business on south norfolk street.the victim told police the burglars forced their way into the business just before 5 monday morning.investigators say they are talking to people who may be connected to the case. kron 4 morning news... police were called to a home near the intersection of charleston way and jersey road.... not far from e-m grimmer elementary school. that's where they found a man who was shot and killed. kron four's rob fladeboe has the latest on the search for the killer. it was about 12:30 monday morning when several gunshots rang out here on charleston way, between jersy road and continental drive. roweena and chris cowan live right across the street.rowene cowan/neighbor "...it's kind of spooky for sure because you know there are kids in the neigjhborhood.."chris cowan/neighbor "....it's shocking, especially for fremont..." inside this single story home where jersey meets charleston police found the body of a male identified so far only as a 56 year old south indian man. he had been fatally shot. a perimeter was set up as police used dogs and a drone to search the neighborhood for a man spotted by a neighbor who was riding

meeting will be held for people in san mateo to discuss the caltrain electrification project. the meeting will be at 6:00 tonight at the caltrain electrification outreach office on el camino real. in san mateo this month... crews will be working on roads and pruning trees as a part of the project. the goal is to have all tracks electrified between san francisco and san jose. the project is expected to be finished by the year 20-22. ( robin ) for your money this morning... a 50 cent daily parking fee increase at west oakland station is now in effect. the increased fee will be $10.50. the single-day reserved parking fee also started yesterday. the monthly reserved fee will increase on november 1st. you can pay for parking by using you clipper card... cash...or with a blue ticket -- just as a reminder the blue ticket must be the same one used to enter the fare gates. contenders for the california's governors' race took place at a san francisco radio station. kron4's maureen kelly brings us the highlights and has post debate reaction from both sides. both candiates came out of the kqed studios calling themselves agents of change. this states got to be made affordable, mr. newsom's been there for 16 years and hasn't done a thing i'm not arguing in anyway shape or form for the status quo. i want to build on success i don't wanna focus just on what's wrong.the hour long broadcast was not a formal debate, but rather as a wide ranging conversation to give listeners an idea of where the two men stand on the issues. the number one topic for both the democratic lieuteant governor and the republican bussiness man was the lack of affordibilty....s pecifically housing. john cox talked about reforming the california environmental quality act to make it cheaper to build.which is been turned into a effort by trial lawyers to sue competitors and stop development and that's limiting the supply of housing

( robin ) two students in monterey believe that congress has not done enough to research gun violence in this country so they took matters into their own hands. the two post graduate students created a new database with information on every school shooting in the last 50 years. that data base is now available online. david riedman, a former student at the naval post graduate school, put together the site while working on a project for the center for homeland defense and security. ( robin ) online you can search by location. you can also search the site using the 16 different categories in the database ranging from suicides to fights. the creators say they hope the site will be useful for school

administrators as they build budgets and make plans for school security. ( robin ) a candle light vigil was held for the 20 people who were killed in a limo crash in new york state over the weekend. the governor there says the limo actually failed inspection last month, and should'nt have been on the road. on top of that... the driver didn't have the right license to be operating that kind of vehicle. the victim's family members still can't believe what happened. ( robin ) department of transportation records show the company that operated the limo, had several inspection issues over the past two years, with four out of its five vehicles taken out of

( robin ) new this morning... ten people were injured when a crowd of people turned into a stampede all because they wanted free shoes. rapper phora promised to give away free shoes at a hollywood shoe store to any fans that showed up. several people were injured when a stampede formed in the gathering crowd. officials say ten people were hurt and eight were taken to the hospital. none of the injuries are serious. the event had private security on hand... but the crowd overwhelmed the guards. ( robin ) for your health this morning... a popular drug meant to help with high cholesterol could also help fight cancer. statins are proven to lower the risk of heart disease, but researchers are also interested in other applications. statins have now been linked to improvement in conditions like cancer... dementia... and kidney disease. some researchers say it's time to run clinical trials among cancer survivors to accurately test the effects of statins.

( robin ) happening today... people who live in the coffeey park neighborhood of santa rosa will gather to remember the victims lost in last year's north bay fire storm. last night a ceremony was held in downtown santa rosa to commemorate the one year anniversary of the fires. kron 4's ali reid was there and shows us how the victims were remembered. this event started in the afternoon, but by 6pm the formal ceremony kicked off.in a moment of silence ... a memorial bell rang 2 dozen times to honor those lives lost.pkgin succession ... the santa rosa fire department rang the memorial bell 24 times to honor everyone that lost their lives in the sonoma complex wildfires.to be here on this day and to know that

( robin ) it's a reunion 52 years in the making... a mother meeting her daughter for the first time in sacramento. valerie leatherwood was 20-years-old when she gave birth to a baby girl. a nun... who was a supervisor at the nursing home leatherwood was working at, sent her away to hide the pregnancy. five weeks later, a baby girl was born. leatherwood gave her up -- and never told her family. her long lost daughter found her and they reunited over the weekend.

children in minnesota have been diagnosed with acute flaccid myelitis or a-f-m. it's a rare disease that can leave its victims paralyzed. the condition affects the body's nervous system, targets the spinal chord and could lead to paralysis. symptoms include muscle weakness, facial drooping and trouble swallowing or talking. currently, there's no cure for a-f-m and the exact cause is not known. but health officials do know that a-f-m can develop from a viral infection. they urge parents to take precautions ... like washing your hands regularly and making sure to stay home when you're sick.
