ta-hernia. sanaz? milpitas: two men arrested with stolen mail, credit cards bcn13 -identity theft arrests milpitas (bcn) two men were arrested oct. 13 on suspicion of several crimes, including identity theft, milpitas police reported. allan david yap and hoi soo yang, both residents of san jose, were spotted in a car in the parking lot of a motel in the 400 block of valley way in milpitas shortly before midnight oct. 13. one officer saw drug paraphernalia in plain view in the car and detained both men, police said. further search of the men's car revealed several pieces of stolen mail and credit cards from residents in milpitas, san jose and los altos. initially, both men gave false identities to police, but their true names were later discovered. outstanding warrants, yap for possession of stolen property, and yang for narcotics violations. both men were booked into the santa clara county jail on their warrants. the identity theft case remains under investigation. anyone with information is asked to call milpitas police at (408) 586-2400, or call (anonymously if you wish) the crime tip hotline at (408) 586- 2500. you also can visit the milpitas police department website at www.ci.milpitas.ca .gov/crimetip thanks sanaz.

( marty )also in the south bay, san jose police arrested a man accused of stealing a car with a child inside. this happened on story road and leeward drive in san jose. police say 30-year-old martin huerta was arrested for kidnapping, auto theft and obstructing an investigation. officials say the victim went into a convenience store and left his car running with a 5-year-old child inside... huerta got into the car and drove away. when officers spotted the stolen vehicle huerta ran away. the child was not in the vehicle when officers arrived but was found a few minutes later. the child was uninjured and reunited with her father. ( marty )in the east bay... oakland police arrested a man who was wanted for shooting at a poli officer. officials say this happened just after 3 in the morning friday on east 17th street.

the uniformed officer was driving a marked car tried to arrest the man. according to police, that suspect took off running turned around fired at the officer. the officewas not hit and fired back. the suspects name has not been released. ( marty )also in the east bay... a mother says she is looking for justice after her son was shot and killed by police. it happened almost 10-months ago... when 45-year- old terry amons of antioch was killed by pittsburg police while he was sitting in his car. kron 4's gayle ong spoke with the victims family... and has the it's been an agonizing 10 months for sandra talbert..the mother of 45-year-old terry amons jr of antioch.amons was shot and killed by pittsburg police in january.officer body cam video shows what led to the deadly

shooting.it happened at the nation's restaurant on railroad avenue in pittsburg.. his favorite spot turned into a vigil a day after he died..it was january 12th -- police were responding to reports of an apparent drug deal. officers say they opened fire because the man made a possible move towards a gun in the car's center console.police say they administered first aid to amons until an ambulance arrived... but he later died at the hospital.police also say they found a loaded, unregistered handgun in the car's center console.talbert is now calling for the officers' job and is demanding a full investigation ..

record low of 4.1 percent last month. that's down from 4 point 2 percent for the previous five months. the state says california's employers gained more than 13- thousand non-farm payroll jobs during september. the largest increases were in the professional and business services sector.. followed by leisure and hospitality. educational and health services saw the most job losses. ( marty ) here's a little motivation to get you out and moving this morning...a new study finds that not exercising can be worse for you than smoking or having heart disease. researchers at the cleveland clinic studied 122-thousand patients who went through treadmill testing between 1991 and 2014. they found a sedentary lifestyle is worse for your health than smoking, diabetes, or heart disease. the data also indicated that fitness leads to a longer life span. what it looked like late friday night there is a repavement project going on. and crews have sectioned off that part of i-80 down to one lane... and at times in both directions. it's all happening just east of the carquinez bridge and is part of a major state project. there have been major delays in the east bay. the same work will continue today. and it's expected to last for a couple of months. cross is working with the 40 people who lost their homes during a weekend fire in valejo. it happened just after midnight saturday on georgia street. the vallejo fire department tweeted this picture. firefighters say when they arrived their was smoke on the second and third floors. but everyone got out safely. no one was hurt. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. ( marty )firefighters rescued a dog from a burning home in the east bay saturday night. it happened just beofre 8 in concord. in this video, it appears the house and car were on fire...it took firefighters about 20 minutes to put it out. there's no word if anyone was home at the time ...the cause is still under investigation. ( marty ) new developments in a sexual abuse case at the university of southern california. the university is offering a settlement to women who say they were sexually abused by a gynecologist at a campus clinic. hundreds of women have come forward with stories of sexual assault or misconduct by george tyndall....over nearly 30 years. they have filed

several lawsuits against tyndal and the university. the doctor has denied the allegations. friday, u-s-c announced a 2-hundred-15- million dollar class action settlement... where the women would each get 25-hundred dollars. the announcement came as a shock to attorneys who are representing 180 women in the case.

( marty ) new this morning... san bruno police have arrested a man on suspicion of robbery, kidnapping, and elder abuse. this after the victim called police about the crime on thursday. police arrested 21-year-old george havili, of citrus heights... on suspicion of the crimes. the victim told police havili threatened them... and robbed them. havili is being held in the san mateo county jail. ( marty ) several agencies came together to help free an entangled whale this week. the humpback was first spotted in half moon bay from the air. crews from marine life studies, southwest fisheries, the coast guard, and a local fishing boat all came to the animal's rescue. the whale was caught in an estimated 500 feet of fishing line -- crews chased the whale south for two days before finally freeing the humpback. with stolen mail, credit cards bcn13 -identity theft arrests milpitas (bcn) two men were arrested oct. 13 on suspicion of several crimes, including identity theft, milpitas police reported. allan david yap and hoi soo yang, both residents of san jose, were spotted in a car in the parking lot of a motel in the 400 block of valley way in milpitas shortly before midnight oct. 13. one officer saw drug paraphernalia in plain view in the car and detained both men, police said. further search of the men's car revealed several pieces of stolen mail and credit cards from residents in milpitas, san jose and los altos. initially, both men gave false identities to police, but their true names were later discovered. both men had outstanding warrants, yap for possession of stolen property, and yang for narcotics violations. both men were booked into the santa clara county jail on their warrants. the identity theft case remains under investigation. anyone with information is asked to call milpitas police at (408) 586-2400, or call (anonymously if you wish) the crime tip hotline 2500. you also can visit the department website at .gov/crimetip thanks sanaz. bay, san jose police arrested a man accused of stealing a car with a child inside. this happened on story road and leeward drive in san jose. police say 30-year-old martin huerta was arrested for kidnapping, auto theft and obstructing an investigation. officials say the victim went into a convenience store and left his car running with a 5-year-old child inside... huerta got into the car and drove away. when officers spotted the stolen vehicle huerta ran away. the child was not in the vehicle when officers arrived but was found a few minutes later. the child was uninjured and reunited with her father. crews from marine life studies, southwest fisheries, the coast guard, and a local fishing boat all came to the animal's rescue. the whale was caught in an estimated 500 feet of fishing line -- crews chased the whale south for two days before finally freeing the humpback. ( marty ) marine life studies says a new inflatable boat was key in getting close enough to free the whale. they bought the boat thanks to funds raised during the monterey gives campaign last year. ( marty ) the bepi- colombo spacecraft has a long journey ahead...it launched this weekend to explore mercury. it'll take seven years just to reach mercury... and it won't be easy. the spacecraft is designed to withstand the sun's temperatures and gravitational pull. as one of the solar system's least explored planets -- the flight's director says -- the knowledge they hope to gain is priceless.

in a sexual abuse case at the university of southern california. the university is offering a settlement to women who say they were sexually abused by a gynecologist at a campus clinic. hundreds of women have come forward with stories of sexual assault or misconduct by george tyndall....over nearly 30 years. they have filed several lawsuits against tyndal and the university. the doctor has denied the allegations. friday, u-s-c announced a 2-hundred-15- million dollar class action settlement... where the women would each get 25-hundred dollars. the announcement came as a shock to attorneys who are representing 180 women in the case.

seconds."( marty ) nearly 2-thousand people walked to help end alzheimer's" in walnut creek. the event was held yesterday. it helps raise awareness and money for alzheimer's care, support and research. our grant lodes was the m-c of the event. standing with him, is stacey harmon. she was diagonised with the disease at the age of 40-years. grant says it was very emotional when the mother of two .. joined him on stage. and shared how she struggles with tasks that used to be easy. but stacey stays positive that one day there will be an end to alzheimers. the event raised... 560-thousand dollars.
