former f-b-i agent rick smith. he believes that the people trying to pull this off are not experienced as the investigators trying to figure it out. rick smith served 25 years in the f-b-i..he believes the people behind the bomb threats and suspicious packages sent to politicians and a television network are not that sophisticated.the f-b-i says five packages containing explosives were sent to hilary clinton, former president barack obama and the c-n-n- offices in new york city the threats targeting prominent democrats but did not cause any injuries.

( robin ) breaking overnight --- a man turned himself in for starting a fire at his ex- partner's house in san jose monday. police say richard castillo was responsible for the one-alarm fire on hamilton park drive. he turned himself in later that day --- and was booked into the county jail. 15 ( robin ) a national response team is still investigating the construction fire that broke out earlier this week in oakland. the fire started at the ice house complex early tuesday morning. it took several hours to get under control....people who had paid money and planned to move in around christmas...are now searching

( robin )along the penninsula, a woman is lucky to be alive after her car was hit by a train. kron 4's charles clifford has details on the dangerous intersection in menlo park. according to the menlo park fire protection district, a woman in her 30's was driving alone in her honda civic westbound on ravenswood avenue tuesday evening when she got caught in a traffic backup. her car was left partially sitting on the caltrain tracks. moments later, the train crossing signal turned on and the arms started to drop. the driver apparently honked her horn, but the cars ahead of her

didn't move. her civiv was struck in the rear by a southbound train travelling nearly 80 miles per hour. the vehilce spun around and landed parrellel to the tracks. first responders arriving on scene found the woman shaken up and complaining of neck pain. she was taken to the hospital but is expected to be ok. the car suffered heavy damage.natsunfortuanley, this isn't the first time there has been a problem at this intersection. back in 2015, a woman was killed when her car got stuck on the tracks in a very simliar way. the intersection is also notorious for problems because it is the convergance point of multiple lanes of traffic, multiple crosswalks, driveways, businesses, and a caltrains stations. neighbor says the intersection makes them nervous.sotsotsotmenlo park's fire chief said in a statment that he has long been frustrated by this intersections saying"this should have been improved years ago but the debate on how to fix this crossing has gone on for decades."the chief also says that many different

we are not showing the 11 year old. the boy tells me a group of around 10 has been after him. he is african american and they are latin. his brother thinks race is one of the issues here. sot i think there is multiple reasons to why he is bulled...i think race homophobia....size weight...he also has a unique personality that separates him from the other kids.according to his family the school has offered to transfer him but transportation would not be included. his family is angered saying he is the victim and shouldn't have to move elsewhere because of it. the latest incident happened wednesday when a group tried to steal his backpack and in the process tied his shoes together. the school says they are investigating but the family is still upset.sot i think these kids need to be suspended maybe expelled....it is their civil right to be safe at schoolj.r. stone kron 4 news.

and in new jersey --- koeberle bull says she got a hateful facebook message from a man who said he hoped her children would die. she then contacted authorities. come to find out... police say her actions possibly prevented a mass shooting... states away in kentucky. kentucky state police say when they arrived at the home of dylan jarrell... the man who sent the message. he was pulling out of his driveway...with hundreds of rounds of ammunition.. a bulletproof vest...and a 100- round high capacity magazine. and a detailed plan of attack on two school districts in kentucky. jarrell is being held on charges of terroristic threatening and harassing communications. ( robin) the f-d-a has approved a brand new flu treatment. it comes after the deadliest u.s. flu season in 40 years.. the f-d-a has approved what's described as a fast-acting, single-dose oral medication... indicating it's coming at a time when it's badly needed.. genentech is selling the medication under the brand name zo-flu-za... it's a pill that can reduce flu symptoms after just one dose. it's approved for people age 12 and older who have had the flu for no more than 48

hours. the annoucement follows a terrible flu season.. with more than 80-thousand people dying from the flu in the u.s.....and many more hospitalized. it's been roughly 20 years since a new treatment was approved... officials stress that while this additional treatment option is important... it's not a replacement for a yearly vaccine. ( robin ) the maker of an expensive cholesterol drug is slashing the list price... which should make it more affordable for patients. amgen said, it is immediately cutting the price of repatha.. by 60- percent... from about 14- thousand dollars to 5- thousand- 800 dollars a year. the company's c-e-o says, the cut will particularly help medicare benificiaries. many people now face out- of- pocket costs of 370 - dollars per month. that will drop to 25- to 150- per month... depending on their prescription plan. this move could help boost amgen's

( robin ) seven children have died and a dozen others were sickened by an virus outbreak at a nursing and rehabilitation center in haskell, new jersey. a-deno-viruses typically cause mild illness in young kids.but health officials say the number seven strain of the virus found at the facility is -- quote -- "affecting medically fragile children with severely compromised immune systems." officials say the strain is usually associated with a disease in communal living spaces. a state department of health team has found minor handwashing deficiencies at the center. the facility will not admit any new patients until the outbreak ends. there is no specific treatment for a-deno-virus. but new jersey's health commissioner says it's unlikely the outbreak will pose a wider threat. ( james ) now to the east bay ... where the oakland fire chief called for outside help ... in the construction site fire investigation the fire started at the ice house apartment complex early tuesday morning. it took hours to get the blaze under control... and even hours later, hot spots flared up. as the bay area struggles to deal with a housing crisis ... federal agents with the bureau of alcohol tobacco and firearms are helping to find the cause of the suspicious fire. ( james ) investigators are stopping short of calling it arson. but did reveal there was a suspicious fire that started in a stairwell back in april. (lydia) a napa woman is sentenced for starting 3 fires near lake berryessa. tho fires were set between 2015 and last year. 61-year-old debra ann windholz was arrested last december. she was sentenced yesterday to four years probation and 180 days in the county jail. as part of her plea agreement... she will have to register as an arson offender. the fire she set are not connected to the north bay wildfires of last year. separate incidents.( james ) kron 4 sara stinson is live in san jose. sara? san jose police released a sketch of the man. they describe him as a hispanic or samoan man with a medium to heavy build. he was also last seen with a full beard and his black or brown hair in a ponytail. the incidents happened between september 25th and october 15th in the area near parkview park. police say he would drive up to his victims ... ask for directions ... and then expose himself and drive away. police believe he is driving a late model silver toyota matrix or similar style vehicle. they say it has a stylish "m" calligraphy design on the front windshield and several bumper stickers on the rear bumper. if you have any information you are urged to call san jose police.
