while a 10 month old baby was in the backseat.the man was taken to the hospital where he later died from his gun shot injuries.authorities say the man and woman were in a relationship who lived together in fairfield.police are calling the incident domestic violence.the intersection was closed off for hours as investigators collected evidencea firearm was found inside the vehicle..the woman who shot the man is being questioned by authorities to determine if she is a victim of domestic violence or a suspect of unlawful killing. ( robin )as for the other drivers involved - they have non life threatening injuries. the identities of the people involved in the pursuit have not been released. ( robin ) after a two month investigation san mateo police have arrested a rideshare driver they say raped a woman.

as kron 4's dan kerman explains... police also called out rideshare company uber for not doing enough to aid in their investigation . san mateo police have arrested this man 40 year old brandon sherman of san jose for raping a woman who got into his vehicle, believing it was the uber she had ordered... it was not....áásot lt. ryan monaghan/san mateo policeas far as the piossibility of other victims i believe this individual is predatory and i hope we caught him in time but there's always that potential using surveillnace video police narrowed down the suspect vehicle to a 2010 toyota matrix and which helped lead them to sherman who police say was positively identified by the victim. it turns out at the time of the august attack, sherman was a driver for lyft, and had been a driver for uber, but had recently been suspended sotit was determined a complaint had been lodged to uber about sherman allgeding misconduct and uber suspended his

south bay. a san jose man accused of killing both his parents has been found guilty. representing himself... hasib bin go-lam-rabbi... tried to pin the murders on his younger brother.he was found guilty of committing two murders with enhancements for using a firearm and lying in wait when he fattaly shot his mom and dad two years ago at their evergreen home. his dad shot 13 times in the garage... his mom once in the back of the head. go-lam-rabbi spent a lot of his defense trying to blame the killings on his 17-year old brother... calling him a mastermind. he was initially charged with second degree murder, but those charges were dropped. the 17-year old testifying, saying his dad and brother faught a lot about his education, having a job and the rules of the house... and heard the gunshots. go-lam-rabbi faces life in prison without parole and will be ntenced on november 16th. burglaries last year, san francisco police are claiming success in turning the tide. car break-ins are down 14-percent this year, though two city neighborhoods saw their numbers go up. central and mission stations both reported more breakins. the increase was nine percent in central station, which includes fisherman's wharf and other tourist destinations, and six percent in the mission, one of two stations selected for a pilot progam targeting auto burglaries. the other station, taraval, reported a 21 percent drop. phone call for shannon basquan. it came from a 52 number on her cell phone while at work in san rafael wednesday afternoon.at first, she heard screaming on the phone, and thought it was her 13 year old son.sot help me i have been kidnapped please help me mom please help me this is for real the caller claimed to have kidnapped her child - and he was going to kill him unless she gave him money. because she says she would do anything for her son, she went straight to the bank.sot all i was thinking was my kid is hogged tied in the back and where are we going to meet. and where they wanna get more efficiently than the old bart trains..">( robin ) the new trains also have fewer seats .... allowing more people to stand during the busy rush hours... however the updated cars do not come without hitches ... so far, technical challenges have kept bart from deploying the new cars system- wide.. by the end of this year ... bart hopes to have five of these new train cars in operation... one for each line. by spring 2022, bart is hoping to have more than 770 of these new cars moving through the system.. right now the agency has 45. ( robin )the california department of fish and wildlife announced a delay in opening the recreational dungeness crab fishing season .... for the coast.. north of humboldt county. the reason? unhealthy levels of domoic acid. that is the same toxin .. attributed to warming ocean waters ... that destroyed the 2015- 2016 season. as of right now, the delay does not affect the bay area ... the season here

( robin )the u-s geological survey is updating its volcano threat assessments for the first time since 2005.and three volcanoes here in california are now considered to be a very high threat.max resnik reports. it's a huge draw of the north state a recreational resource and more but the u.s. geological survey lists mount shasta as number five on a list of the 18 u.s. volcanoes that are a very high threat and there are two more in california lassen volcanic center at number 11 and long valley caldera at 18.mt. shasta's hierarchy is of particular concern says margaret mangan scientist in charge of the california volcano observatory.voice of margaret mangan/ california volcano observatory: "certainly, mt. shasta is a very high threat volcano that we keep our finger on the pulse."its hazards zone covers about 95 hundred square miles according to mapping done in the late 1970s and 1980s which

but it's stirring up debate about whether this would breach peoples privacy. kron 4's sara stinson is live in walnut creek with the details. the surveillance cameras are intended to improve public safety. they would show real time activity at every bart station and anyone would be able to watch on monitors put up at the stations and even pull it up on their phones using the agencies smartphone app.the bart board of directors approved two new video recording technoligies and are hoping during the public meetings people will speak up if they think the security enhancement would be a breach of their privacy.the video recording would allow bart police and other users to monitor bart platforms and other areas for criminal activity. privacy advocates have spoken out about this new techology saying they're concerned this will be used to target undocumented immigrants. but the agency

a san jose man accused of killing both his parents has been found guilty. hasib bin golamrabbi shot and killed his mom and dad two years ago at their evergreen home. during the trial ... golamrabbi tried to blame the killings on his 17-year old brher ... calling him a mastermind. he was initially charged with second degree murder, but those charges were dropped. he now faces life in prison without parole and will be sentenced on november 16th. ( james ) also in the south bay the city of san jose is announcing a unique program to deal with the growing problem of litter and trash on the streets. the city is going to put people who are homeless to work ... cleaning up the streets. san jose officials have identified some 40 trash "hot spots".. now, 25 homeless people will be hired to pick up the litter ... as part of the "beautify san jose program." it may also be a way for homeless people to transition to a path off the streets. < sam liccardo/san jose mayor "...this is a way for us to accomplish two very important goals, we need to beautify our streets and we

mateo police arrested a rideshare driver who they say... raped a woman. according to police... 40- year-old brandon sherman of san jose raped a woman back in august... while pretending to be her uber driver. with the help of surveillance video... police were able to identify sherman... and his 20-10 toyota matrix that he drove at the time of the attack. at the time... sherman was employed as a lyft driver... but had recently been suspended from uber because of complaints of misconduct. san mateo police says uber did not inform them of the alleged misconduct at the time... and dragged their feet providing information on sherman throughout the investigation. ( lydia ) in the south bay... a san jose man accused of killing both his parents has been found guilty. representing himself... hasib bin golamrabbi... tried to pin the murders on his younger brother.golamrabbi was found guilty of committing two murders with enhancements for using a firearm and lying in wait when he fattaly shot his mom and dad two years ago at their evergreen home. his dad shot 13 times in the garage... his mom once in the back of the head. golamrabbi spent a lot of his defense trying to blame the killings on his 17-year old brother... calling him a mastermind. he was initially charged with second degree murder, but those charges were dropped. the 17-year old testifying, saying

(lydia) one person is dead ... and 5 others are injured following a crash in the east bay. police believe alcohol may have been involved. the deadly crash happened last night in walnut creek. police responded to a rollover crash on the south broadway extension. a total of four vehicles were involved and the injuries for the victims range from minor to life threatning. police are investigating ... but again ... they do think alcohol may have been a factor. ( james )new this morning ... police in vacaville are looking for 3 people who attacked a person at a walmart earlier this month. this is surveillance video of the 3 attackers. police say they targeted a customer at the walmart on nut tree road. they threw the victim to the ground, and punched and kicked him. witnesses interrupted the attack the group ran to their car and drove away. the victim is still recovering

breaking news this morning ... a massive manhunt is underway for the person or persons responsible for sending at least 12 packages to prominent critics of president trump around the country. the latest packages were addresses to new jersey senator cory booker.... and ex intel director james clapper the first was was found this morning in florida... and clappers in new york. here is a map showing the intended targets.they include the clintons and the obamas and california congresswoman maxine waters. the suspicious packages contained pipe bombs and were intercepted before they reached their targets. so far, all 10 packages discovered did go through the u.s. mail system. investigators are turning their attention to search a mail facility in opa-locka, florida.
