( marty ) ( marty ) two people are recovering this morning after a balcony collapsed in the outer sunset district of san francisco. the victims were injured when the railing gave way. here's kron4's gayle ong with details. two women were rushed to the hospital after they fell from this third story balcony,when it appears the railing gave way..the accident happened just after midnight saturday at 2020 lawton in the outer sunset district of san francisco.one neighbor

says there was a party at the site but it was not disruptive. hours after the accident - yellow caution tape plastered on the window.pg and e crews had to shut off power at the home as the railing pulled down the property's weatherhead - a protective metal pipe that accepts power from the line.a spokesperson for the city's fire department says police are investigating and the city's building inspectors were called to examine the structure.i reached out to the city's building inspection but have not heard back.the two women were taken to san francisco general hospital,no word on their conditionin san francisco kron 4 news. ( marty ) investigators are trying to find the cause of an apartment fire in oakland that forced 12 people out of their homes. people made it out safely,

however a dog died in that fire. it happened at an east oakland apartment building. crews found fire and heavy smoke in a first-floor unit, and managed to contain the blaze there. but, five other units in the building sustained smoke damage. the bay area red cross opened a shelter for those who are displaced by the fire. its located at the oakland sports center at 91-61 edes avenue. ( marty ) militia groups and far-right activists are raising money and making plans to head to the u-s, mexico border. they want to help stop the caravan of central americans making their way toward the u-s. the exact number of militia members is unclear. but the estimated 4-thousand migrants are still about one-thousand miles.... and weeks away from reaching the u-s. ( marty )secretary of homeland security kirstjen nielsen made a visit to calexico... to inspect the city's newly completed border wall. she talked about the approaching migrant caravan... and the bomb scares that targeted

dozens gathered for a vigil yesterday outside the contemporary jewish museum in san ( marty ) people prayed, held candles, sang and heard from a number of speakers .. including local politicians. ( marty ) the man accused of sending bombs to former presidents, top democratic officials, and cnn, is expected in court tomorrow. 56-year-old cesar sayoc was arrested friday. he is charged with at least five federal crimes and faces up to 48 years in prison. investigators say it was a fingerprint found on one of packages addressed to congresswoman maxine waters that lead them to sayoc. federal authorities say he sent more than a dozen pipe bombs to prominent democrats around the country. ( marty ) in the bay area - there is a special team of bomb technicians who frequently handle hazardous devices. kron four's terisa estacio met with the alameda county bomb squad to learn the kinds of devices they see here in the bay area. this may look like an ordinary piece of luggage.. but it is far from it... at least for this demonstration... sgt.

12-year-old bike rider is in stable condition after he was hit by a truck. this happenened on neroly road near lavender way in oakley. police say the ford f-150 hit the child around 6:30 friday night. the child was taken to a hospital by helicopter. police say the driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. santa clara county through election day. seven early voting centers opened this weekend. it's a move by the county registrar to make voting more accessible for people who may not live close to their neighborhood polling place, or just need more time to do vote. at the voting centers, people can print out ballots, get help through the process, and cast their vote. if you missed the deadline, you can conditionally register to vote. ( marty ) the santa clara county early voting centers will remain open everday from 8-to-5, leading up to the midterm election on tuesday, november 6th. neonatal intesive care unit halloween party saturday. the patients over the years were born with extra medical needs due to illness or premature birth. participants dressed in costumes and joined others, ranging in age from infants to their 20's, who were once patients in the neonatal intensive care unit. this is the final holiday celebration at this hospital location before they move to the new van ness- geary campus hospital in ( marty ) it was a happy reunion six years in the making for an indiana man and his cat. jonathan gulla was home from college in 20-12, having been diagnosed with hodgkin's lymphoma. somehow his cat, julie, got out of the house and never returned. his family put up flyers around the neighborhood, but... no luck. then someone across town recently found a cat and posted a picture on a site for lost and found pets.

( marty ) more early voting centers are open in santa clara county through election day. seven early voting centers opened this weekend. it's a move by the county registrar to make voting more accessible for people who may not live close to their neighborhood polling place, or just need more time to do vote. at the voting centers, people can print out ballots, get help through the process, and cast their vote. if you missed the deadline, you can conditionally register to vote.
