( robin ) breaking overnight... a 3-year-old was killed when she was hit by a car in the east bay. police say sophia pena died from injuries she got on the 400 block of shepard avenue in hayward. first responders found sophia in the road monday. she was taken to the hospital and later died of her injuries. police say the driver of the vehicle ádidá stay on the scene and cooperated with police. at

( robin ) san francisco giants legend willie mccovey has passed away. mccovey spent 19 of his 22 major- league seasons with the giants. many across the bay area are mourning the loss of one of the most beloved players in franchise history. kron4's j-r stone has more. number 44 is what can be read on the at&t park scoreboard right now. in memory of willie mccovey. giants superstar who has passed away wednesday at the age of 80. sotwillie mccovey played in the majors for 22 seasons. 19 of those with the giants. he slammed 521 home runs. a record for a lefty batter that would last up until 2001 when it was broken by barry bonds.

( james ) new this morning... three teenagers are recovering after being shot in the south bay. it happened near the seven trees community center in san jose. police arrived on scene and found two girls and a boy with gun shot wounds. none of the injuries are considered life threatening. the teens were hanging out behind the community center when a gunman walked up and started shooting. police do ánot believe that this is gang related. the shooter is still on the loose. ( darya ) in the south bay... a man is charged with attempted murder after police say he stabbed a woman on the cabrillo college campus in aptos. when deputies arrived, they found the manager of the cafeteria holding down steven wooding. a 19-year-old student was stabbed while she was sitting in the cafeteria. she was able to run away to an area outside where she waited for paramedics to arrive. she is in stable condition. wooding has a history at the college. the school has a restraining order against him for harassing behavior. he was previously arrested for an assault of a staff member in 1994. he spent several years in a psychiatric institution for that crime. bay... a man is charged with attempted murder after police say he stabbed a woman on the cabrillo college campus in aptos. when deputies arrived, they found the manager of the cafeteria holding down steven wooding. a 19-year-old student was stabbed while she was sitting in the cafeteria. she was able to run away to an area outside where she waited for paramedics to arrive. she is in stable condition. wooding has a history at the college. the school has a restraining order against him for harassing behavior. he was previously arrested for an assault of a staff member in 1994. he spent several years in a psychiatric institution for that crime. ( james ) on the peninsula... a parent has filed a lawsuit against the south san francisco unified school district... after they say their child was sexually abused by a teacher. the parent claims their 14- year-old was molested by westborough middle school teacher, joseph toy... and that the school failed to report the incident after being notified. the lawsuit cliams toy would put the 14-year-old victim on his lap, kiss his head, and place his hand under his shirt... where he rubbed and patted his stomach area. the lawsuit also says a parent previously caught toy being inappropriate with another student .. and took a picture of the teacher

( darya )in the north bay... a 16-year old has been arrested in marin county for threatening to shoot students at novato high school. novato police say the teen sent threatening messages to other students where he also commented on their sexual orientation. even though the teen and his parents deny he had any intention of hurting other students... he was still booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of criminal threats and committing a hate crime. police officers were on campus for added security. police say a man tried to lure girls into his truck outside a middle school. the man got away, but a week later, some teenage girls spotted the man again. a police officer confronted the man and found a loaded shotgun, an assault rifle, a handgun and a bag of ammunition in his truck. police arrested russell polsky on weapons and child annoyance charges.
