quality advisory is in effect... hello i'm grant lodes,(vicki) and i'm vicki liviakis. it's all because of a fast-moving wildfire burning in butte county... this is new video of the fire that has forced evacuations in the town of paradise. there are reports that people are trapped in that area.... and you can see why -- this was shot by someone trying to escape the flame... just a terrifying scene.. we'll have a live report on the fire latest in just a moment... but first -- kron4's dan thorn is live in marin county with more on local air quality. (grant) dan you just talked to local air quality officials - what are they advising? grant and vicki..we're live in saulito where you can see thick grey smoke is filling the air..behind me should be a view of san francisco but it's tough to see. the air out here is pretty uncomfortable for breathing and it may also cause your eyes to water...as i was driving here from the

city you couldn't see across the bay..air quality officials have issued an advisory that runs through tomorrow.i spoke with one of those officials at the district office in san francisco who says under this advisory people really need to limit their time outside.. wallace added that wildfire smoke is very unpredictable so people need to take every precaution. however, there is no spare the air alert yet in the bay area. he says they're monitoring updates and hoping things will improve tomorrow. dispatches from the scene only hint at the horror unfolding inside. we have one victim who was shot and bleeding at the entrancecollege country night at borderline bar in thousand oaks california - outside of los angeles - had drawn a crowd of more than 100 young patrons - parents now just beginning to learn which of their children will never return.the gunman, ian david long, was a 28 year old war veteran who entered the bar just before 1130pm carrying a .45 caliber glock and an extended magazine.i saw him point to the cash register and he just kept firinghe shot the doorman first and then he turned to the young cashier and he shot the cashier (wipes tears)first responders rushed to the scene as survivors scrambled to escape sheriff: so unfortunately, our young people or people at nightclubs have learned this may happen. and they think about that.many broke through bar windows while others ran to hide in bathrooms and attics.our fiends got the bar stools and they started slamming it against the windows so we could get outvictims were carried out one by one and desperate, lifesaving efforts took place in the parking lot still, many remained inside. we're still missing two

tweeting out "simply saying, 'enough is enough,' is 'not' enough. we must address the root causes of these devestating acts at every level of government." the thousand oaks shooting is the 307th mass shooting this year in the u-s shooting this year in the u-s and the deadliest, so far, in 2018. (grant) new video tonight showing crews putting out a grass fire in oakland. it broke out just after 11:15 this morning along northbound highway 13-- near san joaquin miller road. there was high concern because of the high winds ... but crews were able to contain the flames a little over an hour later. no injuries were reported and the cause were reported and the cause is under investigation. (grant) and as we have been reporting, much of the region is under a red flag warning . we just learned p-g-and-e will not shut off power in the north bay as a precaution.. but cal fire is on alert here in the bay area.

(rob live) i'm here at calfire's helicopter attack base near los gatos. it may be november but fire danger is still very high amid low humidity, an abundance of ready-to-burnvegetation and hgh winds. nats (winds whipping through trees)it's windy and it's going to stay that way for the next couple of days. the wind is strongest at the higher elevations but these eucalyptus trees in the hills near lexington reservoir are a sign that this latest red flag warning is a bit differentfrom earlier alerts issued by calfire says division chief jim crawford.jim crawford/calfire "....we've had high level winds with the other ones that didn't come down to the surface where this time we're seeing a bit more winds at lower elevations..." the fog is no longer much of a factor and there has been virtually no rain so far this fall. last week's stubborn fire off highway nine near felton managed to scorch a few

(grant)(grant) willie mccovey, one of the san francisco giants greatest players, was honored today with a celebration of his life at at&t park.(vicki) kron4's maureen kelly was there as number 44 was honored for how he was on and off the field. nats its going going gone for willie mccoveysome of the legendary slugger's greatest hits were played on the jumbotron at at&t park...where hundreds of giants fans turned out to say goodbye to the much beloved player. many wearing replicas of his jersey....those i talked to explained what he meant to them and to the team. spirit, joy wanted to come to the ball park even though it was candle stick and windy just someone to come watch and play a game and who enjoy playing the game and made us enjoy it to just an awesome presents he has just such a good way about them just a gentle giant really he was from his early days of fan favorite and i think that

partly not only because of his greatest on the field but such a humble and seemingly genuine guy that was just really likable so it's sad but i'm really glad they're doing this it's great one fan decorated his hat with of pictures of mccovey i've had the privilege of meeting willy mccovey many times and will he gives kindness, he gives a positive energy that basically lights up all fans it makes it extra specialfans got to sit and listen to past and present members of the giants organization who admired, played with and were inspired by the first baseman nicked named stretch.his legacy transcends baseball, transcends his six all star appearances his rookie of the year award is mvp even his hall of fame induction. that guy for that played for the name on the front of his uniform not the one on the back i want to be like himthe san francisco fireboat paid tribute to mccovey in the cove named after him. a cove that another former giants slugger thanked the team for creating... i want to thank mac for allowing me to hit a bunch of baseballs in it and his covemccovey's family has asked for any donations made in his honor go to the giants communtiy fund which will be used to benefit youth programs in northern california and his hometown of mobile, alabama. maureen kelly kron4 news

he was one of the 11 that were killed last night. his name was cody coffman. my first born son. (crying) only him and i know ... (live)right the city of thousand oaks...as well as a number of faith leaders..are inviting everyone...to come here to mourn the people who died last night.the first victim we found out about today...sergeant ron helus... has many here in town sad he's gone...but grateful for what he did.(pkg)(nats: "officer down...at the borderline.") sarah silikula knew something was wrong...when she didn't hear music blasting from the borderline.then one of her daughters called her...telling her to stay inside...because of a shooter. "i said where and they said at borderline, i said wait a minute, how do you know? are you there? they said didn't go friend's there and she's locked in the bathroom hiding." as the hours went on... silikula learned a dozen lost their lives.the one that devastated her most? sergeant ron helus.a 29-year veteran with the ventura county sheriff's.one of the responding officers...he was shot once he got inside.

85-year-old justice ruth bader ginsburg fractured three ribs in a fall in her office at the court and is in the hospital. the supreme court says she went to george washington university hospital in early this morning after experiencing discomfort overnight. the fall happened last night. ginsburg was admitted to the hospital for treatment and

workers have been fired from their jobs and face charges connected to a daycare fight club.(grant) chris hayes has more on what the women told police in their defense. december 7, 2016 at 11:30 p.m., st. louis police brought in tena dailey in handcuffs. she's the woman seen jumping up and down during the fights. she was subdued in her police interview.tena dailey/accused daycare worker: "he was crying and we were trying to comfort him and we were trying to cheer him on."she says she never thought it was wrong until it was all over.tena dailey/accused daycare worker: "it was all fun and games, you know, and i'm sorry like for them to, you know, to think that i'd hurt a kid. i wouldn't hurt a kid. my kid was in there too."a week later, december 15 at 1:30 p.m., police interviewed mickala guliford. she was the one you could see saying something to a crying child and then preparing preschoolers for the next fight.mickala guliford/accused

daycare worker: "i probably should get a lawyer."guliford called relatives to say she was not going to talk to police but then said this. mickala guliford/accused daycare worker: "there was nothing dangerous for the kids. it was all a safe stress relief like it could have been avoided if she would have closed the center."she was referring to the fact the daycare's heater was broken and the teachers had to use an alternate room without the usual supplies and activities. some of the kids appeared to recognize the fight club was wrong... like one child who tried breaking up a fight. and a 10-year-old in the next room who texted his mom this-- the daycare is making my brother's class fight and he's crying. nicole merseal/mother: "i am so very thankful that my 10-year-old realized that it was wrong."nicole merseal said she's been fighting for criminal charges since that day in december 2016.nicole merseal/mother: "it makes me happy. that's exactly what we was hoping. that's the reason why we brought this to the media. we was wanting them to take a second look at this because i don't feel like there was any punishment." (ken) tonight at 6.... a fast- moving wildfire is burning in butte county... this is new video of the wildfire which has forced evacuations in the town of paradise. there are reports that people are trapped in that area.... and you can see why -- this video was shot by someone trying to escape the flames ... just a terrifying scene.. (still ken) that fire is also putting out a ton of smoke. at last count... over 18 thousand acres have been burned. shelters are filling up with people trying to escape the choking plumes. thank you for joining us. im ken wayne(pam) and im pam moore. storng winds have swept smoke from that fire ... all the way into the bay area. you can see how bad the air quality was today -- hazy conditions ... reports of ash falling from the sky.

kron4's dan thorn has been in contact with local air quality officials... he's standing by live now in marin county. dan? ken and pam..air quality officials say right now there is no spare the air alert at this time. the air district is not forecasting an exceedance of the federal air quality health standard. however, thick gray smoke continues to blanket the bay area--making it uncomfortable to breath or enjoy doing much outside. here's a look at what people across the area were experiencing today..the sun trying to shine through the thick haze...in some areas people reporting seeing ash falling from the sky..air quality officials have issued an advisory that runs through tomorrow. air spokesman wallace says under this advisory people really need to limit their time outdoors.

(ken) today a federal appeals court in san francisco upheld a ruling protecting the deferred action for childhood arrivals program, or "daca." the ninth circuit court of appeals agreed with a lower court's ruling preventing the trump administration from ending daca. the ruling means the nationwide injunction that allows the program to continue will remain in effect. daca protects young undocumented immigrants who came to the u-s as children from deportation.
