( robin ) it's not just the butte county fire burning in the state... two other fires are currently burning in southern california. one of those fires... named the "woolsey fire"... sparked around 2-30 yesterday afternoon in ventura county. it has burned more than 2- thousand acres as of yesterday evening... and is still growing. several communities have been evacuated and it even forced the 101 freeway to be shutdown.

( robin ) another fire burning in the same county --- is the hills fire. it burned at least 12-point-5 miles in just the first 2 hours. it originiated in the santa rosa valley --- which is just about 10 miles northwest of thousand oaks. ( robin )now on to the story we have been following since we first brought it to you as breaking news yesterday morning.flags around the state were ordered to fly at half staff in mourning for the now 12 people killed at a night club in thousand oaks. ( robin )this story continues to update as we learn new information about the shooter and get to know the victims. authorities have yet not determined a motive.but they do know the gunman... 28- year -old david long was a frequent patron at the borderline bar and grill in thousand oaks. ( robin ) we are learning more about the victims of wednesday night's deadly mass shooting at a southern california bar. one of the 12 killed was a law enforcement veteran -- looking to retire soon. here is video of l-a-p-d officers laying flowers at the scene where he was killed. ( robin ) he is now being remembered as a hero who died trying to save lives. another victim was just 22 years old... a young man hoping to join the military. his father shared their last words together. miguel marquez reports. jason coffman/father of shooting victim: "we did just get the news that he was one of the 11 that were killed last night."jason coffman -

( james ) kron 4's ali reid got the chance to talk to some of the evacuees from paradise.. one of the hardest hit communities. dozens of families have checked in here at the gridley fairgrounds ... they had no idea when they woke up this morning that they would be scrambling to get to safety.pkg everything was red. the sky was red. it looked like an indian summerthe raging camp fire picked up speed throughout thursday ... taking out the entire town of paradise.scary. i've never seen anything like it. how fast that thing moved. when they said get out they meant get outfamilies grabbed what they could and got out.i grabbed my photo albums, medication, all of my medical stuff and that's itfor many .. it was an overwhelming feeling ... i cried i was so scared, and i never cry when im in a bad situation. but i had to just cry for like 5 minutes then i got myself together the red cross has 3 evacuation

( darya ) the second fire burning in ventura county is the hill fire. that fire has grown to 10-thousand acres... forcing about 12-hundred residents out of their homes. heavy smoke

forced officials to closed roads including the 1-0-1 freeway in both directions. crews are concerned about the overnight winds that could spread the flames further. bay... santa rosa fire officials are remaining at the scene of a brush fire this morning. the fire first broke out just before five last night at howarth park. the fire was burning along the hillside between lake ralphine and homes at the top of the ridge on sullivan way. the terrian caused access to the fire to slow down crews. firefighters were able to stop the fire within a few hundred feet on the homes. the cause of the fire is under investigation. ( darya ) p-g-and-e has canceled plans for a possible shutoff for eight northern california counties. pg&e began notifying customers by text, voice messages and emails on tuesday about the high fire danger conditions. pg&e canceled the power shutoff plan wednesday night

in sonoma county and expanded the cancellation to the other counties around 3 yesterday afternoon. ( james ) ( james ) in the south bay... google officials have released the name of the employee who was hit and killed by a shuttle bus in mountain view. 27-year-old emily hong wroked in the fiance department at google. officials say hong was hit by the bus at

charleston road and huff avenue monday night. police arrived and began c-p-r on hong but she was pronounced dead at the scene. police say the shttle bus driver remained at the scene and is cooperating. ( james ) police in san francisco are looking for the driver who fled the scene of a hit and run. the crash was first reported just after 3 wednesday afternoon in the south of market neighborhood. police say a man suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for his injuries. police did not release a description of the driver.
