yes for less. (pam) lots to talk about in the sports world tonight...(ken) mark carpenter joins us in the studio. last night's loss to the bucks was significant for the warriors for a number of reasons. 134-points...the most allowed at home since 2009. and their two-time mvp is now out of action. the team announced today that steph curry..suffered a mild to moderate left groin strain. it happened midway through the 3rd quarter... as he landed awkwardly after a jump. --good news is steve kerr says it doesn't seem too serious...and he's not anticipating this to be a long-term setback. curry is out tmrw vs the nets...along with draymond green who's still dealing with a foot problem. --kerr said he's had this same groin injury during his playing days...and provided some
6:55 pm
insight on what number 30 is going through. "it's hard to move laterally, you know when you've got that tweak in your groin. it's not a quad. the movement with the quad is fine, but you get that tweak on the inside of your thigh and the lateral movement becomes difficult. so you gotta get the movement and the strength back in it before he can go out and play. so it's going to be at least a few days before he even gets on the floor. so we'll see where it goes from there." turning now turning now to the nfl-- the league released a statement today saying it is monitoring air quality conditions... due to wildfires in northern and southern california. the effects from the butte county fire were evident in alameda this week. this was video from yesterday's practice as the raiders were moving through the haze. in l-a, 45 rams team employees were evacuated from their homes....because of the woolsey fire. there is the outside possibility the games could be moved or see a change in schedule, but
6:56 pm
the league says they will go on as planned for now. jon gruden...gave his remarks on the fires this morning. "i hope that the fires go away. i'm more concerned about a lot of people that are being impacted by this. we'll react to whatever the circumstances are, whatever happens. i just hope this ends fast" moving over to the 49ers, they await another primetime showdown...this time, monday night against the giants. nick mullens will be starting at quarterback...a s the niners look for a 2nd straight win. --the giants...are one of the worst teams in the league.. at 1-and-7. however, they do have some offensive threats..we all know about odell beckham on the outside, but a player to keep an eye on is their rookie running back saquon barkley. --the 2nd overall draft pick out of penn state...a threat that's dangerous as a back and receiver...and loves to run through people. "it's evident that he is as hard of a guy to tackle as i've seen. so, whether that's
6:57 pm
handing the ball off to him or throwing it to him, if that guy has the ball in his hands in space there's not many people in the world who can get him down very consistently. you've got to get him out of space and you need 11 guys swarming to him." finally, if you want to take a closer look at the state of our bay area nfl franchises, kron 4 has got you covered on saturday night starting at 9pm. all your 49ers news on the red and gold zone... for the latest on the raiders, check out the sword and shield zone. saturday nights at 9...on kron4 that wraps up kron4 news at 6.we'll see you tonight at 8.... on your bay area's local news station.
