( robin ) breaking overnight --- another fire has broken out in southern california. the "sierra" fire, as it's being called, broke out around 10 last night in san bernardino.in the area are not making things any easier for fire crews. ( robin ) devastation and destruction up and down our state-- as three massive fires are raging. and now we're learning california's deadliest wildfire in history -- the one up in butte county... has claimed six more lives and destroyed more homes. bringg e death toll statewid. ( robin ) these are the latest numbers this morning for the butte county fire.... the death toll has risen

to 48. 76-hundred áhomes have burned to the ground. and the total number more than 8hundred. the fire has also grown to 130 thousand acres. it is 35 percent contained. kron4's j-r stone spoke to some of the people that have lost everything. sot...it was like dante's inferno....joel burgess, who is a navy veteran, is describing what it was like when he and his wife evacuated their home in paradise california last week. he says the escape video's that others recorded were exactly what they experienced.sotwhen we spoke with joel he had assumed that his home was gone from what he had heard from a friend, but he wasn't sure. with that we drove through the area in route to his home and

( robin ) the fires to the north and south of us ... remind everyone of just how important it is to get up to the minute information, such as an alert to evacuate, or which areas to avoid. tuesday -supervisors in san mateo county passed a resolution so they can reach more people with their emergency alerts. county officials wanted to warn residents about bad air quality last week, so they sent out a text alert to those who opted into the program. governor jerry brown signed a bill in september... allowing local governments to access residential contact information from public utilities such as cable, garbage, water and energy providers so more residents could be notified during an emergency. ( darya )( darya ) this morning we are learning about a san francisco native who lost everything in the camp fire. joel burgess and his wife evacuated paradise last week. he says the video showing people leaving with the fire burning all around them is exactly what they experienced. burgess said he assumed his home was burned down but didn't get confirmation until he walked through with our crews. the only things standing at his home now are birdfeeders and a statue. his three motorcycles destroyed by the fire. but burgess says they will stay.. he doesn't see life outside of paradise.

( darya )police in belmont are investigating a mysterious death... after a woman in her 60s was found dead along the side of the road. the woman's body was discovered early tuesday morning.... at the intersection of cipriani blvd and newlands avenue. police say she was badly injured. emergency crews treated her at the scene and took her to the hospital... but died a short time later. after talking with neighbors and reviewing surveillance video, investigators believe she lived nearby, and was on her regular walk around the neighborhood.
