( marty )the camp fire continues to burn in butte county, and smoke from the fire is still making for unhealthy air, 200 miles away in the bay area. this morning we are learning eight more lives were lost... and more structures are gone. the total number of fatalities is up to 71.... and one-thousand-eleven people are missing. overall, the fire has destroyed more than 12- thousand buildings. the fire has scorched 146-thousand

( marty )happening today.... president trump is travelling to california to meet with some of those affected by the wildfires. he will be in butte county,and in southern california, meeting with fire victims, first responders and getting a first hand look at the damage. state lawmakers say, they are surprised but happy to learn of his visit. especially after his tweet last week.. saying there was no reason for the massive and deadly wildfires in the state. bay area congresswoman jackie speier is hopeful about the president's visit. ( marty ) governor brown and governor- elect gavin newsom will also join the president during his visit. senator kamala harris will tour the area on ( marty ) there are mixed

feelings about the president's scheduled visit today. this comes as fema set up a disaster center in the fire zone. kron4's gayle ong talked to fire victims in chico... to get their thoughts on the presidents visit. one week and a day later,butte county residents have gone from crisis mode to recovery modebill and sandy hughes escaped the camp fire raging through paradise..and lost everything.they are one of the many residents here at this new recovery center,put up by fema.it is a one stop shop providing resources needed to recover and rebuild.opens just one day before president trump is scheduled to tour the devastation to meet with first responders and victims. you drive up and down the road in paradise,you see homes burned to the ground.the air is thick with soot and ash. crews still combing through the rubble - looking for human remains.back in chico, residents waiting,hoping for answers as they look to the future.kenneth juhl (jewel) has a home in magalia and has no idea what he'll come back to, but is looking forward to

yesterday i was light headed my eyes itching and irritating and i could taste it in my throat and it is a lot better today so i feel like this is helping somehow yeahbeing outside ... not that pleasant today.putting up christmas decorations were put on pause. construction work went on as planned... the crews covered their faces too.but a few businesses shut down, so people could skip town.sot everybody is trying to get out of it, our work is closed down for the most partno kids found playing at this park.instead ..strolling the isles of air filtered grocery stores..nats look at that papa!being inside at the movies, bowling alleys and shops... got people away from the bad air.lots of available seats at outdoor restaurants.this food delivery driver told kron 4 news before he scooted off..he's been busy because people do not want to go outside.sot def is a factor the inconvenience of being stuck inside or wearing a masks... really not that bad. when you think of áwhy the air is so thick with smoke.sot i feel terrible for the people losing homes so it is the least thing i should be complaining about

hundred protective masks friday. they were handed out at the senior center. it was part of an effort to protect people from the smoke from the camp fire. it was so busy, that the center ran out of masks for a time. but then a third shipment arrived for those waiting in line. ( marty ) the fire department placed another order and they're hoping the masks will arrive today.. a brush fire destroyed a home and threatened others on a narrow mountain road outside of boulder creek. the fire started just after eleven friday morning.. near a log cabin on mayfield road. it grew to roughly 10-acres before firefighters brought it under control. there was plenty of support from the air as helicopters and tankers dropped retardant. residents in the area say it was a close call. ( marty ) the fire was burning quickly, but luckily, there was little or no wind to fan the flames. hand crews put out some hot spots. no word on what caused the fire. no one was injured. still ahead this morning...a close call for a mom and her newborn who narrowly escaped the camp fire.

been following out of redding... the community is mourning the death of two volunteers who were killed in a fatal plane crash near the redding municipal airport. they were helping those affected by the camp fire. angel flight west says the pilot was dick tak, who was a retired richmond police officer. the crash was reported thursday night at 6-30. authorities say the other person was a nursing professor at sacramento state university. the national transportation safety board is investigating. the redding airport manager says the plane went down about one mile from the airport. ( marty ) and there is a health isssue at the packed evacuation shelters in chico. they say at least 25- people have been hospitalized due to an outbreak of norovirus at the shelters. butte county health officials say, the number of sick people keeps growing as officials work to stop the spread of the virus. they say some of the sick include workers at the shelters. norovirus is highly contagious and can cause diarrhea, fever and body aches.

( marty )the camp fire continues to burn in butte county, and smoke from the fire is still making for unhealthy air, 200 miles away in the bay area. this morning we are learning eight more lives were lost... and more structures are the total number of fatalities is up to 71.... and one- thousand-eleven people are missing. overall, the fire has destroyed more than 12-thousand buildings. the fire has scorched 148- thousand acres... and is 55 percent contained this morning.

( marty ) people across the bay area are being encouraged to stay inside. friday, san francisco mayor london breed along with top city officials urged everyone to stay inside as much as possible. and to check on those most vulnerable. san francisco officials say they have not seen any significant increase in 911 calls, or e-r visits since the unhealthy air, turned to very unhealthy air... but they are taking steps to keep the public safe. ( marty ) mayor breed is encouraging people to stay indoors through the weekend. ( marty )a big story we have been following out of redding... the community is mourning the death of two volunteers who were killed in a fatal plane crash near the redding municipal airport.

they were helping those affected by the camp fire. angel flight west says the pilot was dick tak, who was a retired richmond police officer. the crash was reported thursday night at 6-30. authorities say the other person was a nursing professor at sacramento state university. the national transportation safety board is investigating. the redding airport manager says the plane went down about one mile from the airport. ( marty ) and there is a health isssue at the packed evacuation shelters in chico. they say at least 25- people have been hospitalized due to an outbreak of norovirus at the shelters. butte county health officials say, the number of sick people keeps growing as officials work to stop the spread of the virus. they say some of the sick include workers at the shelters. norovirus is highly contagious and can cause diarrhea, fever and body aches. it spreads commonly when people are in close ( marty ) kron 4 and our parent company-- nexstar media

) a brush fire destroyed a home and threatened others on a narrow mountain road outside of boulder creek. the fire started just after eleven friday morning.. near a log cabin on mayfield road. it grew to roughly 10-acres before firefighters brought it under control. there was plenty of support from the air as helicopters and tankers dropped retardant. residents in the area say it was a close call.
