weather this week.. as they continue battling the deadliest and most destructive outbreak of wildfires in the state's history. but there are also new dangers for firefighters and those engaged in recovery efforts. as john told us, with heavy rain now in the forecast, there are fears of mudslides -- like those we saw in montecito this past january, after the wildfire there and then rain. and it will complicate search and rescue efforts... here is what we know this morning. two more bodies were found monday... bringing the number of deaths to 79. 699 people are unaccounted for.... more than 15- thousand structures have been destroyed.... and more than 10-thousand of those are homes. the camp fire has burned more than 151-thousand acres. and is 70-percent contained. evacuation orders are still in effect ... and it'll a while before families are let back in town.... victims who are living in tents are being urged to find other places to stay. there are a number of tents lining the field behind walmart ... these people tell me their options are limited.. everything that was affiliated with me is gonefor many camp fire victims ... what's next is a big question. mike mason lost everything ... including his paradise home and business. for now, he's been living in a tent behind walmart. with rain on the way, he's now building higher ground so he'll make it through.i have my dog and he's a 16 yr old retired service animal. he's going through it with melike mike ... many here have the same concerns. a number of the evacuation centers are at capacity. and they don't want to let their pets out of sight.the generosity of walmart allowing us here and people coming together to clothe and feed us from everything we lost. i'll

tell you it's been nothing but spectaculartoys r us is no longer taking donations ... while families try to find things they can use from generous neighbors. there are even more people stopping by to drop off blankets and food. it's freezing weather, especially when you dont have your house and the heating, it's just hard to adapt toin addition to the cold ... the expected downpour may cause health concerns. a rep from walmart tells us while they're happy to have been able to provide an immediate place of escape from the wildfire ... they understand that their parking lots are not a viable long-term housing solution.but many of these people tell me they have nowhere else to go ...the fact that they only have a 2 bedroom and there's not enough room so i'll be spending thanksgiving wherevermike mason plans on sticking it out for just a little bit longer. got phone call from fema today and they said within 5 days i'll get relief. with all these people thats fast. they're on itstandupwalmart is

now working walmart is now working closely with the american red cross, the county and local organizations to see how they can best preserve the health and safety of the people impacted by the camp fire.reporting live from chico ... ar ... kron 4 news. ( robin )auto experts say getting ceramic coating for your car is probably the best option..especially as we get into the more rainy season. ( robin )with the air quality being so bad here in the bay area -- breathing respirators have been hard to come by. downtown san francisco has been filled with people walking around without protective masks. for many, it's because they couldn't find any. but stores are starting to restock... medical professionals advise you get an n95 or above respirator and make sure it fits tight around your face. if your not healthy, check with your doctor before wearing one. also check with your pediatrician before putting one on your kids. ( robin )in the east bay... we are learning more about a teenager who died in a house fire... her family and community are mourning her death, while rallying to support one another.. kron4's terisa estacio talked to some of the people who knew the teen best. terisa estacio - terisa estacio - the 16 year old went here to miramonte... friends are telling me she was a very kind

person... well liked. although it is the thanksgiving break, the school offfered counseling services this morning... julie parks, principle, miramonte high school. we knew it would be tough because it would be a week before getting together so we contacted students and about 75 students came this morning... julie parks is the principle at miramonte high school, she talked with me about the death of one of their student... luca gero. julie parks, she was a lovely person, made a difference in the world. it was over the weekend, when a house fire clamied the life of the 16 year old... now a growing memorial out in front.. as fire fighters try to figure out what happened. luca was pronounced dead at her home... a teenage friend and an a adult male at the home at the time as well, they suffered burns and were taken .. they were taken to a burn center in san francsisco...her friends tell me that she was at home with a friend, and an exchange student was acting as a chaperone while her parents were away for the weekend. the fire department is investigating the cause... they have said the fire was so hot, intially crews couldnt go inside. one fire fighter was injured, but he has since been released. a gofund account set up for the family as the community is rallying to help them drunig this really tough time.

( robin ) returning to more news from the fire recovery effort in butte county. among the victims of the fire are the hundreds of displaced pets and other animals. kron four's rob fladeboe tells us how two south bay animal control officers pitched in to make a difference. santa clara county animal control officers jessica ibanez and and jeremy selbach just returned from butte county where they helped care for animals displaced by the camp fire. they knew just what to do jessica ibanez/animal control officer "....i offered hugs and everybody really appreciated that...."jeremy selbach/animal control officer "....everybody is up there trying to help. i saw a lot of hard working people. my part was taking in animals from an evacuation team or from an owner and tying to care for them..."selback and ibanez spent six days in a makeshift shelter at the airport in chico where some 800 displaced pets and other animals are being housed. some

were hurt in the fire, others are still in shock and all are tired and hungry and in need of some love. jeremy selbach "....seeing the reaction from the dog and it's owner after being separated for several days brought tears..."jessica ibanez "...seeing people come in looking for their animals and helping to reunite them was really rewarding..."the two officers drew from their long experience here at the county shelter in san martin. in chico, they rolled up their sleeves to walk, feed and comfort these"other" fire victims and in some cases, were able to find their owners. jeremy selbach "....dogs and cats are stressed animals, they need their people, just like we need each other, so it was my job and my colleague jessica's job to make sure these animals were getting all the attention they need..." in san martin rob fladeboe kron4news ( robin ) the camp fire has forced thousands of families in paradise -to start over.. now one couple has created a unique and effective

way to make an impact... and it has inspired others to do the same... it is hard to know what you can do to make a difference and help out a family who just lost everything in a fire... so this rocklin couple decided to "adopt a family" in need to help them get back on their feet after their home burned in the camp fire... eric lof-holm and his wife reached out directly to a family who lost multiple homes in the fire... and the platform ...."paradise fire adopt a family" began... ( robin ) after seeing the impact they could have one one family... the lof-holm's started a facebook page and webiste that would make it easy for áothers around the world to do the same..... in the week since "paradise fire adopt a family" launched

has taken off and now has over 10 thousand members. ( robin ) monday, bart launched an official app for riders... to help passengers get around on trains. the new app offers end to end trip planning and up the minute service and station information. kron 4's gabe slate walks us through how the app works. the new bart app was created to be a one stop shop for all things bart. there is a fare calculator. so you can see exactly how much it will cost to get from one station to another. the app offers real time departure and delay information. it will display updated info on all the stations including the current state of the escalators, elevators, cycle parking, and the car parking lots. bart built in a comprehensive detailed trip planner for users of this app. meaning wherever you may be to where you are going you see everything you need to get there including walking and

continuing to cover the camp fire, and the rain in the forecast that is being called - a curse and a blessing. the rain will slow down the ongoing camp fire. but as nick watt reports, it could also create a new problem - mudslides. the list of those unaccounted for still nearly a thousand names long. the grim search for the dead goes on. voice of sheriff-coroner kory honea, butte county, ca:"the number of people who perished in the fire weights upon me. i have chosen not speculate as to high that number might be." one environmental group claiming a day of breathing this air is the equivalent to smoking several cigarettesand heavy rain now forecast, fueling fears of mudslides like those we saw in montecito california in january, after wildfire, then rain. amid the heartache, heroes emerging. school bus driver kevin mckay is one. kevin mckay, bus driver:"we started getting fire on both sides of the bus."

( robin ) that was nick watt reporting. the camp fire has burned 11 days now. officials are now saying it's only halfway done, it'll burn another 11 days before it's finally extinguished. ( robin )while most local school districts are closed this week -for fall break ... many universities were supposed to hold classes, but canceled them because of the poor air quality.san jose state university -- however -- is open, despite an online petition to close the schoool. kron4's michelle kingston was on campus with student reaction. jenessa ullugue, student"it's been kinda hard."xavier diaz, student"pretty gloomy in my opinion."chris yu, student"i heard a lot of students complaining about heachaches, migraines, coughs"more than 11- thousand signatures on an online petition to cancel classes at san jose state was not enough for the administration to shut down the school.students writing that their health matters and sharing concerns about the unhealthy air.monday on campus -- many students were seen

( robin ) and due to the unhealthy air quality -- the golden gate national recreation area... that includes alcatraz island, fort point national historic site, and muir woods national monument... will continue to suspend visitor operations again today. ( robin ) staying in butte county -- deputies arrested two people in connection with a burlary of a cal- fire fire station during the camp fire. robert de-palma and william erlbacher from concow were arrested on five felony counts ranging from car theft to looting. bail is set at 250-thousand dollars each. police in pleasant hill arrested a man after he got into a car at a stop light and demanded the driver take him home. police say when the driver of the car refused the man pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the shoulder and told the car. the victim was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries. shortly after a caller reported a man left a car in a west pleasant hill neighborhood and entered a garage. the man conffronted the homeowner and demanded the keys to their car. the man left the area on foot... where he entered and exited multiple other homes in the area. police were finally able to arrest the man in the 18-

hundred block of pleasant hill road. ( robin ) san mateo police arrested an oakland resident for identity theft and possession of stolen property after the say she broke into a car and stole items from inside. police say on sunday they received a call about an auto burglary in the parking lot of a 24-hour fitness on bovet road. the victim's car window was smashed in and her purse was stolen.. which included credit cards. police told the victim to monitor her credit cards. a few minutes later the victim called police and stated her credit card was being used at the hillside shopping center. officers were able to review security video and identify the suspect... 22-year-old jazmainn small. small was arrested and connected to various other auto burlaries in the area. ( robin )in solono county, one of the country's largest car dealerships has unexpectedly shut down seven locations. last week, the momentum

auto group closed five- dealerships in fairfield. and two in vallejo ... leaving employees and customers in the dark. kron 4's charles clifford has details. well, momentum auto group which is based here in solano county is a fixture in fairfield and the company was recently listed as one of the top car dealerships in the county pulling in more than 500 million dollars in 2017. but now nearly all of momentums dealerships have closed and we don't know why. on monday, 7 momentum auto group dealerships in fairfield and vallejo remained dark with the doors locked. a sign on the kia dealship in vallejo read closed until further notice with not a word of explanation given.in fairfield, the normally busling volkswagon, infiniti, nissan, hyundai, dodge chrysler, jeep and ram branches along auto mall parkway were a ghost town.sot we found a sign on the door that said closemark ligocki stopped by the infiniti dealership to have a tire problem on his car checked but found the place closed down.sot it was strange. we went to the infiniti side and the volkswagon side and nobody was around. just signs.as for why the dealerships have closed, that remains a bit of mystery. there have been reports that the owner of momentum may have been dealing with financial problems but specifics are hard to come by. its unclear if the dealerships will remain closed permanently or if they will reopen possibly under new

management. we called momentum auto group on monday afternoon but were unable to reach anyone who could explain what's going on . we also contacted the citys of fairfield and vallejo, both of whom told kron 4 that they don't know why the dealerships have closed.at this point it's also unclear if employees at the 7 locations are now out of job just days before thanksgiving. it's also unknown if customers who were having their cars serviced will be able to retrieve their vehilces.mark, who lives in vallejo, says that the next closest service center that can work on his car is in walnut creek.sot40 minute drive vs 10 minutes finally, there are still two momentum auto dealerships open. one here in fairfield and one in san jose. in solano county, charles clifford kron 4 news. charles clifford kron 4 news. ( robin )we know that housing supply in the bay area is not keeping up with demand. for several years now -- it has been a sellers market. but now the economy has stabilized and in many cases, excelled. kron four's philippe djegal spoke with housing industry experts with a look at mortgages... and, whether or not buying a house is now affordable. contrary to popular belief...jason moon/real

estate agents- "millenials are definitely buying homes." the american dream of owning a home is not dead...chris hudson/mortgage consultant- "it's alive, but we're having to get a little more creative in keeping it alive." the path to ownership just involves a few more hoops than it did just a decade ago... when borrowers who couldn't afford their loans were easily getting pre-approved before their homes lost tremendous value and were forced into foreclosure...kristine marr/senior loan officer- "consumers are afraid, um, a bit of the mortgage process -- it's shrouded in mystery and it shouldn't be." in san francisco, where zillow says the median listing price for a home is more than 1.25 million dollars... there -- you might be priced out no matter what you make... but in the east bay -- let's say in concord...jason moon/real estate agent- "it's a spacious, two-bedroom two-bath house." real estate agent jason moon says depending on your level of income, your credit history and amount of cash available to cover the downpayment and closing costs... this 640-thousand dollar home could be yours. jason moon/real estate agent-

"you want to know if they're buying a home with cash or with a loan. and, most of the time it is with a loan, um, regardless of what some people may say out there." moon partners with senior loan officers like kristine (chris- teen) marr with summit funding in walnut creek... to determine if the consumer qualifies for a mortgage.. and, if so, which type. marr says most people are still signing traditional 30- year-fixed rate mortgages... but that adjustable rate mortgages may fall more in line with the borrower's needs, especially here in the bay area... if the home buyer intends to move out within three to seven years. kristine marr/senior loan officer- "say two young professionals, straight out of school. i can qualify them straight out of school to buy a home, and i'll show them the options. i'll show them this is a 30-year fixed mortgage, but since you're buying a small home or a condo, you might want to look at a side by side comparison with a seven-one arm. it will be fixed for seven years. so, if you sell anytime before seven years, it will never adjust on you because you'll sell the home, the mortgage is gone --

( marty ) former first lady michelle obama's memoir "becoming" had a great opening week. barns and noble announced that "becoming" had the largest first week sales numbers of any book this year. in fact, it had the highest first week sales of any adult book since harper lee's.. "go set a watchman" in 20-15. becoming" is currently also the number one book on amazon. it is expected to top the new york times best selling books list when that list is published wednesday.

( robin ) instagram says it is cracking down on "inauthentic" likes, follows, and comments from accounts that use third-party apps to falsely inflate popularity. the company said it built machine learning tools to help detect and remove fake popularity boosting and began using them monday.instagram said it's part of an effort to maintain an authentic social media platform. ( robin ) if you thanksgiving dinner isn't enough for you. good news, an artisan ice cream brand is offering thanksgiving themed flavors. the flavors include roasted cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole and spiced goat cheese and pumpkin pie. they even toyed with some savory flavors like salted caramel thanksgiving turkey but decided against it.the company --- "salt and straw" --- is served in five or ten gallon batches so there will be plenty to go around. ( james ) our top story this morning... the deadly camp fire burning in butte county. this morning the death toll has risen to 79. the number of people unaccounted for has gone down to 699. more than 15-thousand structures have been destroyed and more than 10-thousand of those are homes. the camp fire has burned more than 151-thousand acres.. and containment has gone up to 70-percent. ( james ) significant rainfall is expected to hit butte county while hundreds of people continue search and recovery efforts. with nearly 7-hundred people still

considered missing and rain on the way... search crews say the sense of urgency is high. showers could wash away remains and turn debris into a muddy mess. 3-hundred searchers are dedicated to just the town of paradise.. while several other teams focus on other parts of the county. officials say they are preparing protective equipment for rescuers. but they say rain or shine they will not stop searching. ( robin ) the rain is also a concern for the hundreds of people who are living in tents in a walmart parking lot. officials say the evacuation center needs to be shut down because of the upcoming rain... but evacuees say they don't have many options because most of the other evacuation centers are full. some evacuees have started building platforms for their tents to keep the rain away. and even with the orders to leave the parking lot.. they plan on sticking it out just a little while longer.

( james ) back here in the bay area...we are still dealing with the unhealthy air conditions. while many schools are closed this week due to fall break.. many universities canceled classes because of the bad air quailty. however san jose state university was open despite an online petition with more than 11-thousand signatures to close the school. students writing that their health matters and sharing concerns about the unhealthy air. many students were seen on campus wearing masks. the school did close last thursday and friday due to poor air.. but said the conditions had improved enough to have school.

rain this week is going to be a nice relief in terms of air quality... but there is some important information you should know before the rain falls. auto experts are recommending drivers should wash your car before and after the rain comes because the the ash and particles that have been sitting on your car can mix with the rain water and could damage your paint job. they also say if you don't drive your car often it can also be at risk for paint damage because it's just sitting there collecting a layer. they recommend washing your car every other week. ( robin ) in the north bay... police in petaluma have arrested a man for criminal threats.. kidnapping and burglary. police have arrested 40-year-old gumer-lindo ordonez in connection to the kidnapping. officials say the victim was attending an event on november 9th when she called a friedn for help around 10:30 p- m. the friend then found the woman sitting next to a man on a park bench. the friend walked the victim to a business where the victim waited until her friend finished work... police say the friend noticed the victim had disappeared.

surveillance video shows a person taking the victim from the office. just after midnight police received a call saying a woman was found near red hill road.. and the caller was going to bring her to the police station. the suspect followed the caller as he was driving to the police station... police were able to arrest ordonez. he is currently being held at the sonoma ( james ) petaluma police also arrested a transient in connection to a sexual assault. police arrested 57-year-old mark lewis after a woman called police to say lewis assaulted her in his truck near payran street and lindberg lane. the suspect and the victim have a recent dating relationship. the victim told police that after the assault... the suspect pushed her out of his moving vehicle. the victim was treated for minor injuries. ( james ) police in mountain view have arrested a man after they say he used social media to stalk and threaten a woman for over ten years. police arrested 29-

year-old matthew cringle. back in april a woman came forward saying she had received messages from fake accounts... and based on the messages she believed it was connected to a former classmate who had harassed her in the past. it was then that officers were able to connect cringle to the fake accounts. cringle was arrested yesterday and is being held at the santa clara county jail. ( robin ) in the east bay... police in pleasant hill arrested a man after he got into a car at a stop light and demanded the driver take him home. police say when the driver of the car refused the man pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the shoulder and stole the car. the victim was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries. shortly after a caller reported a man left a car in a west pleasant hill neighborhood and entered a garage. the man conffronted the homeowner and demanded the keys to their car. the man left the area on foot... where he entered and exited multiple other homes in the area. police were finally able to arrest the man in the 18-

( robin ) san mateo police arrested an oakland resident for identity theft and possession of stolen property after they say she broke into a car and stole items from inside. police say on sunday they received a call about an auto burglary in the parking lot of a 24-hour fitness on bovet road. the victim's car window was smashed in and her purse was stolen.. which included credit cards. police told the victim to monitor her credit cards. a few minutes later the victim called police and stated her credit card was being used at the hillside shopping center. officers were able to review security video and identify the suspect... 22-year-old jazmainn small. small was arrested and connected to various other auto burlaries in the area. news... the family of one of the victims in the deadly october limo crash in upstate new york is suing the company that owned the vehicle. amanda rivenburg's parents say the owners of prestige limo knew the vehicle was dangerous and was not legally allowed on the road in the shape it was in. that ford excursion stretched limousine had failed a safety inspection. 29-year-old rivenburg was one of 20 people killed when the limo crashed. her family says they are suing to prevent other families from dealing with similar situations. ( robin ) a shooting at a chicago hospital has left three people dead... including a police officer and a doctor. police say the gunman opened fire in the parking lot at chicago's mercy hospital. police say the shooting was a domestic incident with a woman the gunman was previously in a relationship with. witnesses say the two started arguing and that's when the gunman opened fire. when police arrived at the hospital the gunman opened fire at them.. that's when

( james ) a federal judge has ruled the trump administration can't stop immigrants who cross the border illegally from seeking asylum. the administration sought to implement the rule primarily to stop a caravan of migrants from central america from making their way across the border. immigrant rights groups challenged that in court, saying it's illegal to block someone from seeking asylum based on how they enter the country. they also say the rule is not valid because there was never public comment on it. u-s district judge in san francisco heard arguments from both sides yesterday. he then issued a temporary restraining order blocking the trump administration's new policy. that restraining order remains in effect until until december 19th. ( james ) two south bay animal control officers are back in the area after caring for nearly 800 displaced pets and other animals affected by the camp fire. santa clara county animal control officers jessica ibanez and and jeremy selbach spent 6 days in a makeshift shelter at the chico airport. the two officers drew from their long experience at the county shelter. they rolled up their sleeves to walk, feed and offer comfort to those animals.

locations. last week... the momentum auto group closed five- dealerships in fairfield. and two in vallejo ... leaving customers áand employees in the dark. kron 4's charles clifford takes a closer look. well, momentum auto group which is based here in solano county is a fixture in fairfield and the company was recently listed as one of the top car dealerships in the county pulling in more than 500 million dollars in 2017. but now nearly all of momentums dealerships have closed and we don't know why. on monday, 7 momentum auto group dealerships in fairfield and vallejo remained dark with the doors locked. a sign on the kia dealship in vallejo read closed until further notice with not a word of explanation given.in fairfield, the normally busling volkswagon, infiniti, nissan, hyundai, dodge chrysler, jeep and ram branches along auto mall parkway were a ghost town.sot we found a sign on the door that said closemark ligocki stopped by the infiniti dealership to have a tire problem on his car checked but found the place closed down.sot it was strange. we went to the infiniti side and the volkswagon side and nobody was around. just signs.as for why the dealerships have closed, that remains a bit of mystery. there have been reports that

court, saying it's illegal to block someone from seeking asylum based on how they enter the country. they also say the rule is not valid because there was never public comment on it. u-s district judge in san francisco heard arguments from both sides yesterday. he then issued a temporary restraining order blocking the trump administration's new policy. that restraining order remains in effect until until december 19th. ( james ) on the penninsula ... police in mountain view have arrested a man after they say he used social media to stalk and threaten a woman for over ten years. police arrested 29- year-old matthew cringle. back in april a woman came forward saying she had received messages from fake accounts... and based on the messages she believed it was connected to a former classmate who had harassed her in the past. it was then that officers were able to connect cringle to the fake accounts. cringle was arrested yesterday and is being held at the santa clara county ( robin ) the san francisco a-t-f is offering a

( robin ) in the east bay... police in pleasant hill arrested a man after he got into a car at a stop light and demanded the driver take him home. police say when the driver of the car refused the man pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim in the shoulder and told the car. the victim was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries. shortly after a caller reported a man left a car in a west pleasant hill neighborhood and entered a garage. the man conffronted the homeowner and demanded the keys to their car. the man left the area on foot... where he entered and exited multiple other homes in the area. police were finally able to arrest the man in the 18- hundred block of pleasant hill road. ( robin ) san mateo police arrested an oakland resident for identity theft and possession of stolen property after they say she broke into a car and stole items from inside. police say on sunday they received a call about an auto burglary in the parking lot of a 24-hour fitness on bovet road.

the victim's car window was smashed in and her purse was stolen.. which included credit cards. police told the victim to monitor her credit cards. a few minutes later the victim called police and stated her credit card was being used at the hillside shopping center. officers were able to review security video and identify the suspect... 22-year-old jazmainn small. small was arrested and connected to various other auto burlaries in the area. ( robin ) in the north bay... police in petaluma have arrested a man for criminal threats.. kidnapping and burglary. police have arrested 40-year-old gumer-lindo or-donez in connection to the kidnapping. officials say the victim was attending an event on november 9th when she called a friednd for help around 10:30 p-m. the friend then found the woman sitting next to a man on a park bench. the friend walked the victim to a business where the victim waited until her friend finished work... police say

the friend noticed the victim had disappeared. surveillance video shows a person taking the victim from the office. just after midnight police received a call saying a woman was found near red hill road.. and the caller was going to bring her to the police station. the suspect followed the caller as he was driving to the police station... police were able to arrest ordonez. he is currently being held at the sonoma county jail. ( james ) petaluma police also arrested a transient in connection to a sexual assault. police arrested 57-year-old mark lewis after a woman called police to say lewis assaulted her in his truck near payran street and lindberg lane. the suspect and the victim have a recent dating relationship. the victim told police that after the assault... the suspect pushed her out of his moving vehicle. the victim was treated for minor ( james ) still ahead on the kron 4 morning news...one of the country's largest car dealerships has unexpectedly shutdown... how many bay area locations were affected.

street ( james ) two south bay animal control officers are back in the area after caring for nearly 800 displaced pets and other animals affected by the camp fire. santa clara county animal control officers jessica ibanez and and jeremy selbach spent 6 days in a makeshift shelter at the airport in chico. the two officers drew from their long experience at the county shelter. they rolled up their sleeves to walk, feed and offered some comfort to the animals.
