(dan)vicki it was a scary ride for passengers aboard a golden gate ferry . the vessel slammed into the terminal here near the ferry building. here's a look at the frightening moments.. you can see in this viewer video of a crowd of people panicking as the vessel creeps closer to slamming into the terminal.everyone with their phones out as hysteria ensues.. san francisco firefighters did repond to the scene. i spoke with a passenger aboard that ferry who says she is not very happy with the response on board. passengers tell us their hoping to get some sort of answers because they're not feeling too confident in riding the ferry after this incident. (vicki) happening now - we're closely watching a stand off in the south bay where police say a man shot at them after his family called for help. he's barricaded himself in a home six hours ago.(vicki) good evening im vicki liviakis.(ryan) and i'm ryan o'donnell we're told a swat team has now entered through the yard. kron4's ella sogomonian is live in san jose, just off south and barberry lane, that's still blocked off. ella what can you see? (ella)police got a call at around 10 this morning from a house on barrow court saying a family member was armed with a gun and they needed help.we heard two loud bangs come from that home at around 2:40 this afternoon and have yet to learn of his fate. san jose police and swat teams have surrounded a home on off barberry lane after a family called worried one of them had a gun on him.when police got there they say the unnamed suspect shot at them and at least one officer fired back. neighbors in the immediate area have been evacuated. sot: sgt. enrique garcia, san jose police department// "if he is watching tv if he was watching media we really want him to consider his options are he is injured to surrender himself if he's not injured that's even better. surrender and we can offer whatever help he needs we cant change what's done but at least he can end it peacefully and that's what we want."a concerned group lined around the caution tape at south king street with the hope that this stand off ends better than it did two years

roads. police sent us this picture posing with the warriors basketball star. we're told, just before nine this morning, a driver of a silver lexus lost control and hit the porsche curry was driving. then while curry was pulled over in the median... another car lost control and hit the porsche from behind and ran into the median concrete wall. these are pictures of steph curry's damaged vehicle. luckily no one is hurt. and police say everyone had their seat belts on and didn't seem to be driving impaired. no arrests were made but police do want to remind you to slow down and take your time while driving in inclement weather.

those helping in the camp fire shelters are being strongly encouraged to get the flu shot. butte county health sent out a notice saying voulnteers spending time at camp fire evacuation shelters should get a flu shot to protect the health of evacuees. they go on to say... crowded living conditions increase the chances for influenza to spread from person to person. if you are interested in getting the vaccine... we have a link on kron4 dot com to help you find the nearest flu shot clinic near you. (ryan) cal fire is offering a service to it's first responders for any kind of mental health help, they might need after taking part in a crisis situation. firefighters, paramedics, and police often see a lot of devestation during wildfires like these and some of them are dealing with emotional

hardships themselves with loosing their own homes. cal fire posted this video on twitter to explaine the program. cal fire is offering this program for employees and their families to help them recover from this situation. (vicki) the san francisco spca needs you help identifying some pets they have picked up from the camp fire. the shelter put up these pictures saying we just transferred 9 more injured campfire cats into our hospital, and we're searching for their owners. they ask you share the facebook album and have a number you can call if one of the animals is yours or you might know the owner. trump calling for a bipartisan border security package. this as new reports indicate a record number of unaccompanied

minors are in custody and as a so-called caravan of migrants approaches. camila bernal has the details. president trump started his friday on twitter... writing that "republicans and democrats must come together, finally, with a major border security package"this as the department of health and human services is releasing reports of record numbers, confirming that about 14,000 unaccompanied immigrant children are already in the us, in custody today.it's unclear if the president wants to include unaccompanied minors in any immigration legislation.his focus right now-- on the border.on thursday, u.s. customs and border protection conducting a large-scale operational readiness exercise... but authorities did not specify if the exercise was in response to the thousands of migrants approaching the u.s. as part of a caravan.migrant: "it gives us joy to be here, just a few steps away from getting to the united states"the president has expressed disapproval of their intentions to seek asylum... deploying troops to guard the border pres. donald trump: "we're fighting for borders.

we're fighting for our country. if we don't have borders, we don't have a country."a statement and a strategy that many democrats don't agree with.sen. jack reed, (d) rhode island: "in the case of the border, this is not an effort to defend the nation, this is an effort to divide the nation."but despite those disagreements, the president insisting a bipartisan fix must include a border wall. in washington, i'm camila bernal kron4 news (ryan) the trump administration is asking the supreme court to fast-track cases on the president's decision to prevent certain transgender people from serving in the military. today the administration asked the court to take-up three cases on the issue. lower courts had blocked the administration from implementing the policy. judges from the 9th u-s circuit court of appeals heard the case in october but hasn't made a ruling, yet. the administration had warned it would ask the high court to step in if the appeals court

didn't rule before today. the administration wants the supreme court to be able to rule on the issue before the summer. the justices don't typically take cases before federal appeals courts rule on them. (vicki) a listeria outbreak in several states is linked to vietnamese ready-to-eat pork products. the us centers for disease control and prevention says long phung products in houston is recalling food items that were shipped nationwide. four people have been hospitalized after eating anchovy-marinated pork patty rolls. listeria is especially dangerous for anyone over the age of 65, pregnant or with a weakened

immune system. typical symptoms that follow include headache, stiff neck, fever, muscle pain, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions. the c-d-c says throw the products away and sanitize any shelf or drawer where the pork was stored. (ryan) samsung is apologizing to its employees who got sick while working in its semi-conducter factories... signing a settlement agreeing to pay those workers and their families. since 2007, samsung workers have been complaining of a variety of illnesses, including a dozen forms of cancer, multiple sclerosis, and miscarriages. some workers' children have even fallen ill. in addition to the apology, samsung agreed to pay the equivalent of about 133- thousand dollars each to those affected. the workers who fell ill all worked at factories in south korea or at one plant in china. (ryan) in the east bay... an attempted armed robbery and police chase in emeryville late last night, has ended with three suspects behind bars. you're looking at a gun police say one of the suspects discarded while trying to flee on foot after crashing into a parked car in oakland. it all started at around 11-30 when officers responded to the area of 40th street and hollis just off 580 for the attempted armed robbery. they tried to pull the suspect's car over... but the suspects took-off.. crashed into the parked car.. and then one took-off on foot

and discarded this loaded gun before being caught. police are still the incident. (vicki) in the east bay... a petaluma man has been arrested after police caught him "spinning donuts" and running into a street sign in downtown. it happened just before two a-m yesterday. police say the driver, 23- year old marco padilla tried to flee the scene but was caught by officers. padilla's blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit. he was arrested for driving under the influence and reckless driving. (vicki) and staying in petaluma... early this morning police responded to the parking lot behind mike's bike on petaluma boulevard to find 33 year old justin garwood siphoning gas. further investigation found that garwood was driving a vehicle that had been reported stolen from santa rosa. the car has been returned to its owner and garwood was booked into the sonoma county jail. lawrence karnow: it was a wet and sometimes windy day. the rain continues tonight before turning to showers. a few showers could linger into early tomorrow morning before

(vicki) a family in louisiana got quite the wake up call on thanksgiving when a stolen car crashed into and destroyed their carport. kiran chaw-la has the story. it was just before 10 in ascension parish this morning when this happened--a 2014 dodge charger that the owners reported stolen slammed into a couple's garage on highway 22 in darrow.david landaiche:"i was sleeping, my wife came into the room and said the car port was destroyed."when david landaiche went outside.... david landaiche:"the car's in the car port room, the rear ends in the air. and all i could do is laugh about it."he says he and the driver and did not talk, but when his wife told the driver she had called 9-1-1, he made a run for it.... thankfully - it was caught on video - including a clear shot of the driver's face.in the surveillance video of the car crashing into the garage, you will notice it slammed in backwards.donovan foster:"the

(ken) steph curry got into a car accident today and oakland police are partly blaming the weather and wet roads. police sent us this picture posing with the warriors basketball star. just before nine this morning a driver of a silver lexus lost control of their car and hit the porsech curry was driving. then while curry was pulled over in the median... another car lost control and hit the porche from behind and ran into the median concrete wall. these are pictures of steph curry's damaged vehicle. luckily no one is injured... and police say everyone had their seat belts on and did not seem to be driving impaired. no arrests were made but police do want to remind you to slow down and take your time while driving in inclement weather.

(ryan)new tonight... a big announcement from the oakland diocese. it will 'not' be releasing the names of all clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors in the coming days... as initially stated in october. as kron four's terisa estacio reports, the diocese says it has run into an obstacle, but one victim is calling out the church accusing the diocese of continuing to cover up the scandal.(take pkg) backtracking from its initial announcement that it would be transparent and it would make public all the names of clergy credibly accused of sexual abuse of minors... the oakland diocese is now publishing in it's newsletter to parishioners that it is pushing back it's publication to after the first of the year... it states the reasons are two fold... one that it is essential to contact all survivors in advance of a public announcement... and two quote... it is important we spend more time verifying the

(ken) looking to fast track its ban on transgender people serving in the military the trump administration is asking the supreme court to intervene. the white house asked the court on friday to take up three cases on the issue. lower courts had blocked the administration from implementing the policy. the ban on transgender troops was lifted under president obama... but president trump issued an order banning most transgendered troops from serving. this is the fourth time in recent months the trump administration has asked to bypass lower courts... the other cases involve deferred action for childhood arrivals or daca...
