buildings in antioch were defaced with swastikas, racial slurs, and profanity. good evening i'm grant lodes. (vicki) and i'm vicki liviakis. police just released the photo of the suspect. and as kron 4's maureen kelly reports... three of the buildings targeted are churches. .. the first grafitti was spotted by an antioch resident leaving his church sunday morning after services.it was mostly spraypaint on cars in the city hall parking lot.more grafitti turned up on that man's place of worship the very next day....the church of god holy was hit with four swatikas and foul language.it's basically a hate crime i was blown away i could not believe that someone would to defeat the house of god that like that a baptist church a few blocks away was similarly spraypainted.....but this time the vandal tagged the n word on the front door. several other businesses in the city's downtown where hit....much was cleaned up by monday afternoon.....a mural painted in the 90's depicting a chapter of antioch's history was also defaced....many of the faces blotted out.local merchants trying to revive the area are disappointed by this setback.i'm upset i'm livid you know that the miral behind me devastated that's devastating to us place to see a storage place hat but still we will go off but still we

threatening injuries. nobody inside the building was hurt. crews are now evaluating the building and investigating why the driver crashed. (grant) a big story tonight.. 49ers linebacker reuben foster has been released from has been released from the team after he was arrested for domestic violence in tampa over the weekend. and as you may recall, has been down this road before.(vicki) foster was accused of domestic violence last spring in santa clara county only to see those charges dropped. kron four's rob fladeboe joins us live to refresh our memory of that case and why it matters now. rob? (rob live) it matters because the woman who is accusing foster of domestic violencein florida is the same woman who took the stand here in san jose last spring and said pretty much the same thing, only to recant her story. now, that case might be re-opened and foster could be facing new chargeshere.

domestic violence charges against reuben foster were dropped last may after this woman, 28 year old elissa ennis, the same woman who is accusing him now, recanted her story but foster pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor weapons possession related to the case and what happened in florida might be grounds for new charges here says legal analyst steven clark.steven clark/legal analyst "....what the d.a. could do is this new event in tampa, florida could be the basis for a probation violation, where he could be sent to jail for up to one year because he is on probation..." in a statement, d.a. jeff rosen referenced the challenges of holding domestic violence abusers criminally accountable, saying quote, "...we are sad, though not surprised, and exploring the legal options...." again, steven clark.steven clark/legal analyst "....the d.a. could go back and revisit whether they want to re-charge mr foster for the events in los gatos, if ms ennis were to

(vicki) (vicki) now to the latest on the deadly and destructive wildfire in butte county. it is now 100-percent contained. the massive fire began the morning of

november 8th near the town of paradise and has since become the most destructive wildfire in california history. the butte county sheriff's office and cal fire have reported 85 people have been killed by the fire and nearly 3-hundred people are still unaccounted for. the fire destroyed over 18-thousand structures in butte county... nearly wiping out the entire town of paradise. yesterday's chaotic confrontation at the tijuana border.the u=s border patrol says it was forced to use tear gas after hundreds of migrants tried to enter the country illegally.(vicki)one of the world's busiest border crossings was completely shut down for hours.ryan o'donnell is here to show us what's happening today.ryan? (ryan) the mexican government is moving to shore-up its border security after yesterday's confrontation. federal police have set-up a ring around the sports center that has been turned into a refugee camp for as many as five-thousand asylum seekers from central america.they want to prevent a recurrence of what happened yesterday at the san ysidro(ee-sid-the san ysidro(ee-sid-dro) border crossing. natthe federales proved to be no match for the hundreds of migrants who broke away from a peaceful march to dash towards the border.nat the san ysidro border crossing is now closed just before noon the border patrol closed all lanes north

and southbound as they migrants rushed towards the checkpoint.more nata short distance away, they found an opening. there were some sections that had the dilapidated border wall that was made out of scrap metal the military gave us. the group breached a couple sections of that, actually tore down one small section.nat the group immediately started throwing rocks and debris at our agents, taunting the agents. // they deployed tear gas to protect themselves and to protect the border."

nasa. the space agency landed a probe on mars. it's called the insight lander, and the project is focused on several key tasks, including studying "mars quakes"... and looking for water. kron four's terisa estacio reports from chabot's space and science center. nasa nats: "lander down" and with that another chapter in history for mars exploration begins. named the insight mission... this outer space robotic explorer is aptly named as it plans to gather key intelligence on the red planet... unlike other missions, insight will stay put in one position while it collects data. it contains several instruments to do so... including a seismometer,

we're learning more about a gun battle in san jose... that forced lots of people out of their homes.(vicki) police say they found guns that were stolen years ago. kron4's ryan o'donnell joins us with more on what happened. here he is... his name is maricaballero... a 31-year old felon... who's behind bars now. this is video of the stand-off on friday... but we're learning today... police were originally called out to

the home twice on thursday but no-one was arrested. it wasn't until the call on friday when shots started ringing out. san jose police say caballero walked out of the house and shot at the officers. one returned fire, causing caballero to go in and barricade himself.chief eddie garcia / san jose police department: "merge deployed into the residence and it successfully forced caballero to exit the second onto the roof. a police k-9 was used to take him into custody." 0:12 0:12 caballero was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound and injuries because of the k-9. inside the home... chief garcia says they found two handguns, both of them reported stolen in burglaries. one from last year... the other from 3 years ago. caballero is a known gangmember with several felony convictions already including assault with a deadly weapon and burglary. standard procedure, the officer who fired his gun is on paid administrative leave as this

flights attendants and the tickets agents bless their heart but they're miserable, too."at one point more than 10 million people across the midwest under blizzard warnings on sunday over 15- hundred flights were cancelled, with delays to more than five thousand.the vast majority in kansas city and chicago.rahm emanuel, chicago mayor: "i wanna call on everybody to be extremely neighborly. check on anybody who is physically impaired in any way."chicago's o'hare international airport alone saw more than 800 cancellations monday with delays averaging close to an hour.but the problems weren't just limited to air travel.in kansasthe governor declared a state of emergency saying "we strongly recommend that you postpone travel plans if possible.ben gardner, kansas highway patrol trooper: "the road ways are blocked, traffic jams, jack-knifed semis, things like that. i'm telling you now, today is the day of staying home and being safe. (grant) developing news tonight... the golden gate ferry is running again after one of its passenger boats crashed into a pier at san francisco's ferry building. (vicki) but there are still a lot of questions surrounding the investigation. kron 4's sara stinson has details on the crash and checks in with passengers.

"fortunately the crash didn't impact peoples commute today as the ferry schedule is running at the normal times. check out this video of the crash - which is still under investigation. "glad i wasn't on that boat that's for sure!" "i got sick so i missed it and then i saw it on the news." the crash happened on friday at two in the afternoon - 53 passengers were abroad the larkspur - san francisco ferry. two people had minor injures and were treated on scene. the ferry involved in the crash is still being repaired so officials with the golden gate bridge district say they are using another vessel to keep the schedule on time. the first ferry of the day ran into a few small problems docking. (julie wiard, golden gate ferry passenger) "it did a little bit this morning because they had some trouble docking this morning. they said it was due to some of the damage at the dock, but there are other docks so i guess it's just going to be a little shuffling around."but every boat after that seemed to be on time." "they do have it on time. i actually got a text message last night saying everything is normal. i left on time and arrived on time so everything is solid so far."the

investigation into how and why the ferry crashed into the dock is ongoing. ferry managment met over the weekend to understand what happened and discuss how to avoid this from happening in the future. regular passengers tell me this won't deter them from riding the ferry. "no these things are very reliable and consistent. i've been doing this for four years and i've never heard of any incidents." "i'm comfortable with it. the guys who drive the ferries are well trained so i had no issues with it.""i feel like things are normally very safe so i'm not too worried about it.""a spokeswomanfor the golden gate bridge district says the captain is now on leave, they are waiting to get the results from his drug and alcohol test. she also said captains routinely get tested. they expect to get the results in the coming weeks. in san francisco, sara stinson, kron four news. general mood here at levi's stadium is one of sadness...at least from kyle shanahan, who addressed the media just about an hour ago... he said he was not aware of any incidents between foster and elissa ennis in october, as some outlets were reporting...and that he stands by the way they handled the situation earlier this year.. told us the 49ers did more for foster than he's seen any team do for any other player during his time in the nfl... "you know we supported reuben through that, felt good about it and the way it worked out, i'm glad that we did. but we also knew reuben had a string of making bad decisions. we knew that when we took him. we thought he would improve and we thought we were going to help him, reuben did improve on some things. but for that to come up for what did happen last year our earlier in this year and for what happened saturday with the same person at a team hotel. it's just hard to comprehend how you could put yourself in that situation again. shanahan said he had an open

(grant) in the eastr bay... richmond police have identified noah cordier as the one-year-old child who died after he was hit by a car. the accident happened near cutting boulevard and south 17th street around noon on sunday richmond police say noah, who's from sacramento... ran out into the street. crews immediately took noah to the hospital... but he died from his injures. the driver of the car

reportedly tried to get away but authorities located the woman behind the wheel and arrested her. at this point, she has not been charged and her identity has not been released. (grant) police in berkeley are searching for a man who they say robbed and sexually assaulted a woman at her home after breaking in. it happened around 6:00 yesterday morning at an apartment on blake street near telegraph... just south of the cal campus.. police describe the attacker only as a black man in his 20s or 30s. anyone with information about this incident is asked to call berkeley police. (vicki) in the south bay... police arrested a man for trying to drive away when he hit and killed a person on the street. the crash happened in san jose on silver creek road near the capitol expressway. around 10 o clock last night... ubaldo montaras munoz hit a woman crossing the expressway outside the cross walk. the 39 year old is in jail for felony hit and run and vehicular manslaughter. police will identifiy the woman who died at the scene as soon as her family has been

(vicki) and in campbell... police arrested kevin szigeti for crashing into a fire hydrant. take a look at the water gushing up and out into the street. police posted these on twitter warning people to beware of the flodding on winchester and latimer. the 23 year old did not stop and police found him later with damage to his truck. szigeti has been booked into santa clara county jail for dui, possession of drugs, and hit-and-run. (grant) a big story tonight... it appears... we'll start seeing romaine lettuce in the stores again. (vicki) last week... u-s health officials warned everyone, including restaurants to throw-out the lettuce because of a possible e-coli contamination. kron4's ryan o'donnell joins us with more on when it'll be safe to eat this again. health officials are expected to scale-back the nationwide public health warning about romaine lettuce today or tomorrow. in question... was where the lettuce came from. 3 days ago, the f-d-a discovered the outbreak of e-coli was likely from a farm in central california. now that they know the source... teh f-d-a says romaine lettuce from other regions, like florida and arizona, can now be harvested and consumed. you'll also see a change in the packaging, with the location of where the lettuce

came from. the c-d-c issued that nationwide warning last week, when 32 people in 11 week, when 32 people in 11 states got sick with e-coli poisoning. (grant) there is controversy tonight surrounding an owner of one of the bay area's major league baseball teams. in fact some civil rights activists say they are now boycotting and asking others to join them. kron4's haaziq madyun has the story sotsotthe naacp and civil rights attorney john burris have joined together in calling for a boycott of the san francisco giants. this comes on the heels of learning that one of the team's 30 owners, charles johnson, made a financial contribution to a mississippi politician, who while on the campiagn trail allegedly made racially insensitive comments about attending a public lynching

in the east bay... the search is on for a vandalism suspect who hit several buildings and vehicles with racist and profane grafitti.kron4's maureen kelly reports that at least three churches were defaced in the weekend crime spree . everybody was really disheartened and disappointed that something like this would happen especially in 2018the church of god holy was hit with four swatikas and foul language.a baptist church a few blocks away was similarly spraypainted.....but this time the vandal tagged the n word on the front door.several other businesses in the city's downtown where hit....much was cleaned up by monday afternoon.....a mural painted in the 90's depicting a chapter of antioch's history was also defaced....many of the faces blotted out.it's believed at least 20 buildings and vehicles were tagged over two days.we're a little bit

running again after a ferry crashed into a pier at the san francisco ferry building on friday. (ken) this just in... the butte county sheriff confirmed that three more human remains have been discovered following the "camp fire." that brings the number of confirmed dead to 88. that fire is 100 percent contained.... however recovery efforts are ongoing. eighty fema trailers are ready to be deployed from mcclellan airport near sacramento. the only problem - where to put them. a fema spokesperson said it will likely take weeks for the trailers to be placed, but they will possibly be put at sites where homes were destroyed or larger sites like fairgrounds.(ken)

old felon... who's behind bars now. this is video of the stand-off on friday... but we're learning today... police were originally called out to the home twice on thursday but no-one was arrested. it wasn't until the call on friday when shots started ringing out. san jose police say caballero walked out of the house and shot at the officers. one returned fire, causing caballero to go in and barricade himself.chief eddie garcia / san jose police department: "merge deployed chemical agents into the residence and it successfully forced caballero to exit the second story window onto the roof. a police k-9 was used to take him into custody." 0:12 caballero was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound and injuries because of the k-9. inside the home... chief garcia says they found two handguns, both of them reported stolen in burglaries. (ken) mark carpenter joins us in the studio. reuben foster's time in santa clara is now officially over... after the linebacker was arrested this weekend on charges of domestic violence. --foster is now reportedly back in the bay area...after being released on bond yesterday afternoon. --the incident happened saturday night at the team's hotel in tampa bay. elissa ennis, the same woman who accused him of domestic violence earlier this year before dropping the chargers, says foster slapped her. -this puts an end to his one- and-a-half year run with the niners... a time that saw him go through multiple off field issues..including substance abuse and weapons charges. --kyle shanahan on the decision to finally cut ties.
