buildings in antioch were defaced with swastikas, racial slurs, and profanity. good evening i'm grant lodes. (vicki) and i'm vicki liviakis. police just released the photo of the suspect. and as kron 4's maureen kelly reports... three of the buildings targeted are churches. .. the first grafitti was spotted by an antioch resident leaving his church sunday morning after services.it was mostly spraypaint on cars in the city hall parking lot.more grafitti turned up on that man's place of worship the very next day....the church of god holy was hit with four swatikas and foul language.it's basically a hate crime i was blown away i could not believe that someone would to defeat the house of god that like that a baptist church a few blocks away was similarly spraypainted.....but this time the vandal tagged the n word on the front door. several other businesses in the city's downtown where hit....much was cleaned up by monday afternoon.....a mural painted in the 90's depicting a chapter of antioch's history was also defaced....many of the faces blotted out.local merchants trying to revive the area are disappointed by this setback.i'm upset i'm livid you know that the miral behind me devastated that's devastating to us place to see a storage place hat but still we will go off but still we

threatening injuries. nobody inside the building was hurt. crews are now evaluating the building and investigating why the driver crashed. (grant) a big story tonight.. 49ers linebacker reuben foster has been released from has been released from the team after he was arrested for domestic violence in tampa over the weekend. and as you may recall, has been down this road before.(vicki) foster was accused of domestic violence last spring in santa clara county only to see those charges dropped. kron four's rob fladeboe joins us live to refresh our memory of that case and why it matters now. rob? (rob live) it matters because the woman who is accusing foster of domestic violencein florida is the same woman who took the stand here in san jose last spring and said pretty much the same thing, only to recant her story. now, that case might be re-opened and foster could be facing new chargeshere.

november 8th near the town of paradise and has since become the most destructive wildfire in california history. the butte county sheriff's office and cal fire have reported 85 people have been killed by the fire and nearly 3-hundred people are still unaccounted for. the fire destroyed over 18-thousand structures in butte county... nearly wiping out the entire town of paradise. and southbound as they migrants rushed towards the checkpoint.more nata short distance away, they found an opening. there were some sections that had the dilapidated border wall that was made out of scrap metal the military gave us. the group breached a couple sections of that, actually tore down one small section.nat the group immediately started throwing rocks and debris at our agents, taunting the agents. // they deployed tear gas to protect themselves and to protect the border."

we're learning more about a gun battle in san jose... that forced lots of people out of their homes.(vicki) police say they found guns that were stolen years ago. kron4's ryan o'donnell joins us with more on what happened. here he is... his name is maricaballero... a 31-year old felon... who's behind bars now. this is video of the stand-off on friday... but we're learning today... police were originally called out to

the home twice on thursday but no-one was arrested. it wasn't until the call on friday when shots started ringing out. san jose police say caballero walked out of the house and shot at the officers. one returned fire, causing caballero to go in and barricade himself.chief eddie garcia / san jose police department: "merge deployed into the residence and it successfully forced caballero to exit the second onto the roof. a police k-9 was used to take him into custody." 0:12 0:12 caballero was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound and injuries because of the k-9. inside the home... chief garcia says they found two handguns, both of them reported stolen in burglaries. one from last year... the other from 3 years ago. caballero is a known gangmember with several felony convictions already including assault with a deadly weapon and burglary. standard procedure, the officer who fired his gun is on paid administrative leave as this

(grant) developing news tonight... the golden gate ferry is running again after one of its passenger boats crashed into a pier at san francisco's ferry building. (vicki) but there are still a lot of questions surrounding the investigation. kron 4's sara stinson has details on the crash and checks in with passengers.

"fortunately the crash didn't impact peoples commute today as the ferry schedule is running at the normal times. check out this video of the crash - which is still under investigation. "glad i wasn't on that boat that's for sure!" "i got sick so i missed it and then i saw it on the news." the crash happened on friday at two in the afternoon - 53 passengers were abroad the larkspur - san francisco ferry. two people had minor injures and were treated on scene. the ferry involved in the crash is still being repaired so officials with the golden gate bridge district say they are using another vessel to keep the schedule on time. the first ferry of the day ran into a few small problems docking. (julie wiard, golden gate ferry passenger) "it did a little bit this morning because they had some trouble docking this morning. they said it was due to some of the damage at the dock, but there are other docks so i guess it's just going to be a little shuffling around."but every boat after that seemed to be on time." "they do have it on time. i actually got a text message last night saying everything is normal. i left on time and arrived on time so everything is solid so far."the

investigation into how and why the ferry crashed into the dock is ongoing. ferry managment met over the weekend to understand what happened and discuss how to avoid this from happening in the future. regular passengers tell me this won't deter them from riding the ferry. "no these things are very reliable and consistent. i've been doing this for four years and i've never heard of any incidents." "i'm comfortable with it. the guys who drive the ferries are well trained so i had no issues with it.""i feel like things are normally very safe so i'm not too worried about it.""a spokeswomanfor the golden gate bridge district says the captain is now on leave, they are waiting to get the results from his drug and alcohol test. she also said captains routinely get tested. they expect to get the results in the coming weeks. in san francisco, sara stinson, kron four news. (grant) in the eastr bay... richmond police have identified noah cordier as the one-year-old child who died after he was hit by a car. the accident happened near cutting boulevard and south 17th street around noon on sunday richmond police say noah, who's from sacramento... ran out into the street. crews immediately took noah to the hospital... but he died from his injures. the driver of the car

reportedly tried to get away but authorities located the woman behind the wheel and arrested her. at this point, she has not been charged and her identity has not been released. (grant) police in berkeley are searching for a man who they say robbed and sexually assaulted a woman at her home after breaking in. it happened around 6:00 yesterday morning at an apartment on blake street near telegraph... just south of the cal campus.. police describe the attacker only as a black man in his 20s or 30s. anyone with information about this incident is asked to call berkeley police. (vicki) in the south bay... police arrested a man for trying to drive away when he hit and killed a person on the street. the crash happened in san jose on silver creek road near the capitol expressway. around 10 o clock last night... ubaldo montaras munoz hit a woman crossing the expressway outside the cross walk. the 39 year old is in jail for felony hit and run and vehicular manslaughter. police will identifiy the woman who died at the scene as soon as her family has been

contacted. (vicki) and in campbell... police arrested kevin szigeti for crashing into a fire hydrant. take a look at the water gushing up and out into the street. police posted these on twitter warning people to beware of the flodding on winchester and latimer. the 23 year old did not stop and police found him later with damage to his truck. szigeti has been booked into santa clara county jail for dui, possession of drugs, and hit-and-run. area safe again . the butte county sheriff's office and cal fire say 85 people have been killed by the fire and almost 3-hundred people are still unaccounted for. the deadliest fire in state history destroyed more than 18- thousand structures... and almost the entire town of paradise. (pam) lawsuits representing dozens of survivors of the 'camp fire' have been filed already, but now, a bay area attorney has filed a wrongful death lawsuit ... on behalf of two sisters who died in the fire. in the east bay... the search is on for a vandalism suspect who hit several buildings and vehicles with racist and profane grafitti.kron4's maureen kelly reports that at least three churches were defaced in the weekend crime spree . everybody was really disheartened and disappointed that something like this would happen especially in 2018the church of god holy was hit with four swatikas and foul language.a baptist church a few blocks away was similarly spraypainted.....but this time the vandal tagged the n word on the front door.several other businesses in the city's downtown where hit....much was cleaned up by monday afternoon.....a mural painted in the 90's depicting a chapter of antioch's history was also defaced....many of the faces blotted out.it's believed at least 20 buildings and vehicles were tagged over two days.we're a little bit

running again after a ferry crashed into a pier at the san francisco ferry building on friday. (pam) our grant lodes in the studio with us now.. and has details on the crash, and checks in with passengers. grant? (grant) fortunately the crash didn't impact peoples commute today as the ferry schedule is running at the normal times. the crash happened on friday at two in the afternoon - 53 passengers were abroad the larkspur - san francisco ferry. two people had minor injures and were treated on scene. the ferry involved in the crash is still being repaired so officials with the golden gate bridge district say they are using another vessel to keep the schedule normal. today, the first ferry of the day ran into a few small problems

san francisco giants. this comes on the heelsf learning that learning that one of the team's 30 owners, charles johnson, made a financial contribution to a mississippi politician, who while on the campiagn trail allegedly made racially insensitive comments about attending a public lynchingburris says the comments are particularly troubling when viewed through the historic lens of the 1955 lynching of 14-year-old emmit tillsot giants president and ceo larry baer released a statement reading in part " the giants have more than 30 owners. just like our fans, they come from different backgrounds and have their own political views. many give to democratic causes, many to republican causes and some refrain from politics altogether. neither i nor anyone else at the giants can control who any of our owners support politically, just as we cannot and should not control whom any of our employees support politically."

(ken) this just in... the butte county sheriff confirmed that three more human remains have been discovered following the "camp fire." that brings the number of confirmed dead to 88. that fire is 100 percent contained.... however recovery efforts are ongoing. eighty fema trailers are ready to be deployed from mcclellan airport near sacramento. the only problem - where to put them. a fema spokesperson said it will likely take weeks for the trailers to be placed, but they will possibly be put at sites where homes were destroyed or larger sites like fairgrounds.(ken)

old felon... who's behind bars now. this is video of the stand-off on friday... but we're learning today... police were originally called out to the home twice on thursday but no-one was arrested. it wasn't until the call on friday when shots started ringing out. san jose police say caballero walked out of the house and shot at the officers. one returned fire, causing caballero to go in and barricade himself.chief eddie garcia / san jose police department: "merge deployed chemical agents into the residence and it successfully forced caballero to exit the second story window onto the roof. a police k-9 was used to take him into custody." 0:12 caballero was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound and injuries because of the k-9. inside the home... chief garcia says they found two handguns, both of them reported stolen in burglaries. (grant) police say caballero is a known gang- member with several felony convictions already including assault with a deadly weapon and burglary. as is

standard procedure, the officer who fired his gun is on paid administrative leave as this incident is investigated. (ken)jury selection in the murder trial of james alex fields jr. began today.fields is accused of fatally mowing down 32-year-old heather heyer during a 2017 "unite the right" rally in charlottesvill e, virginia.several others were injured when fields allegedly plowed into a crowd of people demonstrating áagainstá the rally.the event drew self-described "white nationalists" and others who opposed the city's decision to remove a confederate statue from a nearby park.fields has pleaded not guilty to murder and malicious wounding charges. he separately faces federal hate crime charges. up next at six... there is a change coming to the recent health alert over romaine lettuce .... but all is not clear just yet.. we'll tell you how california is involved. outbreak of e-coli was likely from a farm in central california. now that the agency knows the source ... the f-d-a says, romaine lettuce from other regions, such as florida and arizona, can now be harvested and consumed. there will be a change in the packaging of the lettuce, which will include the location of where it was grown. (ken) general motors announced today it will close five plants in north america and cut 15 percent of its salaried staff. that includes a quarter of the company's executives. it's all part of an effort to improve overall business performance - investing more money into technology the company believes will power its future. its goal is to save six-billion dollars annually by the end of 2020. g-m's new 2020. g-m's new motto is "zero crashes, zero emissions, zero congestion" signaling a shift to self-driving and electric vehicles.

(ken) mark carpenter joins us in the studio. reuben foster's time in santa clara is now officially over... after the linebacker was arrested this weekend on charges of domestic violence. --foster is now reportedly back in the bay area...after being released on bond yesterday afternoon. --the incident happened saturday night at the team's hotel in tampa bay. elissa ennis, the same woman who accused him of domestic violence earlier this year before dropping the chargers, says foster slapped her. -this puts an end to his one- and-a-half year run with the niners... a time that saw him go through multiple off field issues..including substance abuse and weapons charges. --kyle shanahan on the decision to finally cut ties. "for that to come up for what did happen last year or earlier in this year, and then for what happened saturday with the same person at a team hotel, it's just hard to comprehend how you could put yourself in that situation again. i'm not
