( robin )as john just told us, the rain is expected to make a big return in the the bay area this morning.and that wet weather will be with us for most of the work week too.it's dry right now...but once the rain rolls in those roads can get dangerous and in some cases deadly..but police say it's mostly preventable if people plan ahead.kron4's dan thorne has more. if last week was any indication, rain can cause all sorts of problems for bay area drivers...just ask warriors star steph curry...new dash cam video shows his porsche taking a beating as rain fell along highway 24..sot: if you can leave ahead of time, plan

you will find full forecasts... and get push alerts about the weather in your neighborhood.it's all on the kron-4 mobile app concern in san mateo county...after a spike in home burglaries in one community-- and now police are searching for the suspectskron 4's alecia reid spoke to people in hillsborough about the burglaries and has the latest details on the investigation. these burglaries aren't just happening in one part of town ..... thieves have been targeting different neighborhoods throughout hillsborough..pkgthe culprits m-o ... breaking the glass of a rear sliding door or window to gain entry.it is pretty concerningin most cases, the homes that were targeted did not have security alarms installed or enabled. and each time, those families were not at home.residential burglaries increased between november 20th and the 24th ...due to this uptick in crime, police have increased their presence in both marked and unmarked

vehicles throughout hillsborough.they have patrolled our areaauthorities say there is evidence that links some of the burglaries to the same suspects. all of those men wore hooded sweatshirts while committing their crimes.i spoke to one man whose home was burglarized a couple years ago. he has since installed alarmsit was nighttime and we heard the door open and footsteps coming in, but then the dog started barking and they left but then they took some stuff. standup police are currently processing images from footage they've received.as a reminder they're strongly encouraging the use of burglar alarms and survellance systems.reporting live from hillsborough ... ar ... kron 4 news. ( robin )police in the east bay are looking for help identifying a man suspected of going on a vandalism spree. these surveillance camera stills- were released showing a man police believe is responsible.police say more than 20 buildings in antioch were defaced with swastikas,

racial slurs, and profanity. the first grafitti was spotted by an antioch resident leaving his church sunday morning after services.there was also spraypaint on cars in the city hall parking lot.more grafitti turned up the next day.anyone who recognizes him is asked to call police. ( robin )we're learning more about a gun battle that happened last friday in san jose... that caused many people to evacuate their homes. 31-year old mario ca-ballero was arrested after that stand off between police.this is video of the stand-off on friday... but we're learning now that police were originally called out to the home twice on thursday but no-one was arrested.it wasn't until the call on friday when shots were fired.san jose police say ca-ballero walked out of the house and shot at the officers.one returned fire, causing caballero to go in and barricade himself.

deployed chemical agents into the residence and it successfully forced caballero to exit the second story window onto the roof. a police k-9 was used to take him into custody.">( robin )ca-ballero was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound and injuries because of the k-9.inside the home... chief garcia says they found two handguns, both of them reported stolen in burglaries.as is standard procedure, the officer who fired his gun is on paid administrative leave as this incident is investigated. ( robin )the death toll in the camp wildfire has risen to 88. after investigators determined human remains they thought belonged to two people .,...actually belonged to three.203- people are still on a list of unaccounted for. meanwhile .. the fire is now 100-percent contained. the massive fire began the morning of november 8th, near the town of paradise .. it has since become the most destructive wildfire in california history. big warehouse in tracy... which it calls its fufillment center... were in overdrive last night. amazon says, it had to ship out 83- million packages worldwide by the end of the day. the packages have to be single file... and you can see some of the packages starting to fall by the way side because they need to be lined up, before they can be scanned and loaded up ... on the way to their destinations. ( robin )millions of people are now expecting packages after cyber monday. unfortunatly, that also means thieves will be out looking for an easy score. kron 4's charles clifford explains what everyone can do to avoid having their items stolen.

( robin ) two people are in the hospital after the driver lost control of their car and crashed into an apartment building in san francisco.kron 4's j.r. stone tells us that the two are in stable condition and expected to be okay. rescue crews forced to rip off a door as they saved the two people inside this car that crashed into a building and ended up in the basement.sot

witnesses say the car was headed westbound on taraval street in the parkside neighborhood of san francisco around 4 in the afternoon. the driver hit another car, sped through an intersection, and crashed. sotofficers say it's unclear on what exactly went wrong. they weren't able to initially talk with those inside the car as they were rushed to the hospital. the driver is a woman in her 70's. the passenger a woman in her 50's. both are in stable condition and should alright. as for the building. it has not been red or yellow tagged. during our 6 p.m. live shot the owner of the building told us the foundation is intact. sot oc: heard a boom (robin)

clara county, along with ground water sources that provide tap water for the community.right now, it stands at 35-point-9 -percent capacity... and altogether the reservoirs in the area are only at about 27 -percent capacity, but santa clara valley water dirict spokesperson marty grimes says.. it is nothing to worry about. ( robin )grimes is also advising people to continue to conserve water. there is a state law that says, you must turn off your irrigation systems when it rains.. and wait two days after it stops raining to turn them back on. weather back east is still causing delays at s-f-o.at one point, more than 10-million people across the midwest were under blizzard rnings.and sunday, more than 15-hundred flights were cancelled. the ripple effect of delays and cancellations was felt here in the bay area as well.according to airport officials with s-f-o, monday evening there was 209 flights delayed and 19 cancellations..the spokesperson says, delays from chicago... new york... and boston were weather related. one traveler who flew into san francisco from chicago said there were hundreds of cancellations at o'hare airport.. she is glad they got out. ( robin )s-f-o says snow storms are a big problem because they cause visibility and de-icing issues. ( robin )we are continuing to follow the efforts by thousands of migrants seeking asylum in the u-s.dozens were arrested for crossing the border illegally sunday after

a clash with border agents.the clash prompted agents to fire tear gas and shut down the san ysidro crossing for five hours. as jaime chbers reports, many are wondering if it will happen again. (áátake pkgáá)locals say the border rushing was a dangerous and desperate attempt to get to the united states.witnesses say it started as a peaceful protest and then hundreds of migrant caravan members broke into a sprint.natsot/arrola "police were over, like, powered by them." border agents and construction crews have been busy fortifying sections of the mexico border ever since there was an breach of the fence sunday. when members of the migrant caravan pushed through mexican authorities and then forced their way through weakened sections of the fencerodney scott/san diego sector chief patrol agent"to be completely frank, there were numerous people that actually made it across the border. we're in the process of building the new border wall here, but we don't have it completed."42 migrants were arrested on the

( robin ) earlier this month, we took you along on a flight with some bears in the back of an airplane.now that the animals have settled into their new surroundings we wanted to check in to see how they're doing

natthese are the two bears we took to southern california last month... when they weighed about 20 pounds.here's how they look now... at about 65 pounds each.úmatt anderson/fund for animals146 the cubs are doing wonderfully. they're interacting with each other exactly as we'd hoped they would. 0150 they're eating well and they're exploring their habitat. 0153courtesy: humane society of the u.s.they were named mary and posa... because they were found in mariposa county... a brother and sister whose mother was hit and killed by a car.posa is the one with the white mark on his chest.after initially being taken to tahoe... it was decided they were too little to hibernate this winter without their mother... so i volunteered to fly them to the "fund for animals" sanctuary in san diego county where they can spend the winter soaking up the sun.this spring they'll be evaluated for release... and when the time is right will be returned to mariposa county.427 the inate behaviors will kick in, in terms of hunting particular food items, especially the fish when they're back in the wild. 433 after dropping off mary and posa last month... i picked up this bear named ojai to bring back to tahoe.he was all alone... and would be paired with another bear about the same age still sheltered in tahoe.denise upton/tahoe wildlife center2947 i think he

was starved for a buddy because they just got together really fast. 2950now ojai and his new friend ponderosa are sleeping and playing together... and most important putting on weight.ojai is the one with the darker color fur. 22:2901 they're doing really well. they're getting fatter everyday. lots of fur. real fuzzy. 2905these bears now weigh almost 100 pounds... and will be big enough to hibernate.that will come within the next few weeks.2924 we give them big bales of straw and they make a big nest out of it and they just curl up and go to sleep. 2928the lake tahoe wildlife center has taken care of about a hundred bears over the last 18 years... some years a dozen or more... other years only a couple.it had 4 this year.it also cares for just about ever other animal you can find in the forest... from chipmunks to bald eagles.but how they're cared for is about to change. nat driveconstruction has started on a much larger facility.26 acres off pioneer trail... a lot more room for everyone.tom ?/tahoe wildlife center1033 this new bear cage is ten times the size the current one. plus this will have an outside play area. 1040 so there is no limit. we can have 30 cubs in there. 1043 as more and more humans move into california's wildlands... there are bound to be more encounters with wildlife.by this summer a much larger facility will help care for those animals in need.1017 our purpose strictly is rehabilitation and release. get them back out into the wild where they belong. 1020

anyone else at the giants can control who any of our owners support politically, just as we cannot and should not control whom any of our employees support politically." ( james ) on the peninsula... residents are on edge after a spike in home burlaries in various neighborhoods throughout hillsborough. police say the theives hit while many people were out on the long holiday weekend. police say the burlgars are breaking the glass of a rear sliding door or window to get into the homes.. and in most cases the homes did not have security alarms installed. police say there is evidence that links some of the burglaries to the same theives... and that the men all wore hooded sweatshirts. police are going through surviellance video they have received from the neighborhoods. ( james ) in san francisco... two people are in the hospital after the driver lost control of the car and crashed into an apartment building. rescue crews to had remove the door to save the two people. witnesses

say the car was headed westbound on taravel street around four yesterday afternoon. they say the car hit another car and sped through an intersection and crashed. the driver and the passenger are in stable condition and are expected to be okay. as for the building... it has not been red or yellow tagged... the owner of the building says the foundation is in tact. ( darya ) in the east bay... four people attending a vigil in west oakland were injured in a drive-by shooting. police say the group were shot sunday night at the intersection of 24th and chestnut streets. they were at a vigil for a neighborhood resident who had recently died. police say the victims are expected to be okay. chirch a few blocks away was also vandalized. a mural painted in the 90's depicting a chapter of antioch's history was also defaced... many of the faces blotted out. polcie say at least 20 buildings and vehicles were tagged over two days. anitoch police have released surveillance camera still images showing a man they say is connected to the vandalism. police are asking the community for any information connected to the crimes. ( james ) in the south bay... we're learning more about a gun battle that happened last friday in san jose... that caused many people to evacuate their homes. 31-year old mario caballero was arrested after that stand off between police. this is video of the stand- off on friday... but we're learning police were originally called out to the home twice on thursday but no-one was arrested. it wasn't until the call on friday when shots were fired. san jose police say caballero walked out of the house and shot at the officers. one returned fire,

causing caballero to go in and barricade himself. ( james ) caballero was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound and injuries from the k-9. inside the home... police found two handguns... both of them reported stolen in burglaries. as is standard procedure, the officer who fired his gun is on paid administrative leave as this incident is investigated. ( darya ) former 49er reuben foster has returned to the bay area after his arrest in tampa over the weekend for domestic violence. as we know domestic violence charges aganst foster in may were dropped after his on and off girlfriend elissa ennis... the same woman who is accusing him now... recanted her story. but foster pleaded guilty to a

misdemeanor weapons charge related to that case... and after his arrest in florida... there could be ground for new charges according to a legal analyst. ( darya ) clark added ennis could recant her initial recant and the d-a could re-charge foster. but he adds that her credibility could be questioned since she falsely accused foster in the past while under oath. ( james ) richmond police have identified noah cordier... as the one-year old child who died after he was hit by a car. the accident happened near cutting boulevard and south 17th street... around noon on sunday richmond police say noah... who is from sacramento... ran out into the street. crews immediately took him to the hospital...

but he died from his injures. the driver of the car reportedly tried to get away but police located the woman behind the wheel and arrested her. she has not been charged and her identity has not been released. from the camp fire now stands at 88. as recovery efforts continue ... local bay area firefighters are coming home after being on the fire lines. menlo park fire protection district sent a strike team ... a drone team ... and a number of firefighters to assist with search efforts in butte county. we talked with them... and they say the camp fire was especially difficult because of the widespread destrction and loss of life. ( james ) officials say about 200 people are still unaccounted for. ( james ) lawsuits representing dozens of camp fire survivors have already been filed... but now the first wrongful death lawsuit has been filed behalf of two

sisters who died in the blaze. bay area attorney mike danko accuses p-g-and-e of negligence... in the deaths of barbara carlson and her sister, shirley haley. the lawsuit says a p-gand- e transmission line ... malfunctioned and ignited the camp fire and adds the utility had previous trouble with the line. in a statement p-g- and- e did not react to the suit specifically... but says safety is its top priority and that the cause of the fire has not been determined. you may have you may have noticed the shelves at your local grocery store are bare as many stores have been removing any and all romaine lettuce as a precaution.this is called a clean break where all producers and distributors get rid of contaminated lettuce and provide clear labeling to show people when the lettuce's date and origin.the f-d-a says the ongoing break out of ecoli his linked to the end of season harvest in the central and northern parts of california.the food safety alert came out two days before thanksgiving and continues today.symptoms of e coli usually begin about three to four days after consuming the bacteria.if you have already bought romaine lettuce you believe to be contaminated - either throw it away or return the lettuce back to the store where you bought it.live in walnut creek, sara stinson, kron four news.four news. four news.

( darya ) south bay reservoirs are in need of more rain...right now they are only filled a little more than a quarter of what they can hold. last week's rain was not enough to saturate the ground for any run off. the calero reservoir is one of ten serving santa clara county, along with ground water sources that provide tap water for the community. it stands at 35-point-9 -percent capacity... and altogether the reservoirs in the area are

only at a 27 -percent average for capacity. santa clara valley water district spokesperson marty grimes says.. it is nothing to worry about. ( darya ) grimes is also advising people to continue to conserve water. there is a state law that says, you must turn off your irrigation systems when it rains.. and wait two days after it stops raining to turn them back on. ( james ) a san mateo county leader is launching a public outreach effore to help resident avoid getting their deliveries stolen this holiday season. supervisor david canepa says online shoppers should arrange for an in-person delivery and request a signature confirmation. he says you can also have packages delivered to your workplace or another secure location...like an amazon locker. canepa also suggests installing a security

camera to help authorities catch the thief. as the holiday season continues, canepa hopes that by taking some precautions, fewer people will have their items stolen.

( darya ) south bay reservoirs are in need of more rain...right now they are only filled a little more than a quarter of what they can hold. last week's rain was not enough to saturate the ground for any run off. the calero reservoir is one of ten serving santa clara county, along with ground water sources that provide tap water for the community. it stands at 35-point-9 -percent capacity... and altogether the reservoirs in the area are only at a 27 -percent average for capacity. santa clara valley water district spokesperson marty grimes says.. it is nothing to worry about. ( darya ) grimes is also advising people to continue to conserve water. there is a state law that says, you must turn off your irrigation systems when it rains.. and wait two days after it stops raining to turn

them back on. caballero was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound and injuries from the k-9. inside the home... police found two handguns... both of them reported stolen in burglaries. ( james ) there's a new effort to crack down on the car break-in epidemic. state senator scott weiner is partnering with san francisco district attorney george gascon to close a loophole in the penal code. they say it allows some auto burglars to escape consequences. weiner unveiled a bill that would eliminate the requirement that to prove an auto burglary...it must be proven that the door was locked..even if evidence shows a window was broken. officials say closing this loophole will make neighborhoods safer. ( darya ) now to another big story ... the death toll from the camp fire now stands at 88. as recovery efforts continue ... local bay area firefighters are coming home after being on the fire lines. menlo park fire protection district sent a strike team ... a drone team ... and a number of firefighters to assist with search efforts in butte county. they say the camp fire was difficult because of the widespread destrction and loss of life.

that the cause of the fire has not been determined. ( james ) bay area rapper too short is doing his part to help the victims of the camp fire. yesterday plans were announced for a benefit concert in san francisco. the event will take place friday december 21st at 10-15 folsom in san francisco. all proceeds with go to the north county valley foundation. ( james ) a san mateo county leader is launching a public outreach effore to help resident avoid getting their deliveries stolen this holiday season. supervisor david canepa says online shoppers should arrange for an in-person delivery and request a signature confirmation. he says you can also have packages delivered to your workplace or another secure location...like an amazon locker. canepa also suggests installing a security camera to help authorities catch the thief. as the holiday season continues, canepa hopes that by taking some precautions, fewer people will have their items stolen.
