another big storm is headed to the bay area. this is a look at stormtracker 4 radar... not much activity as we speak, but the most intense speak, but the most intense storm of the season is set to hit tonight. good evening i'm grant lodes. team coverage... the santa cruz mountains is bracing for a direct hit as the next storm looms off the coast.(vicki) that means the "over-the-hill gang," as highway 17 commuters are sometimes known, are in for more white-knuckle driving. kron four's rob fladeboe is live on highway 17 with more on that. rob? taking a look at stormtracker 4 radar as we are getting ready for the intense storm expected to hit in the bay area. you can see the green now... and some lightening strikes off shore. chief meteorologist lawrence karnow will have your complete storm forecast in just a few minutes. (grant) the rohnert park department of public safety is working to figure out who trashed the inside of a building of the gold ridge recreation center. kron4's maureen kelly shows us the extensive damage. the vandalism was discovered on monday the culprits apparently pried open that door there and then tour down or kicked in this part of the sheet rock wall to gain access here's another hole it appears the vandals did just for fun....there is also lots of grafitti on the walls....ceiling tiles busted out...and garbage left behind. those responsible even bringing in coaches....appa rently using the vacant building as a party house....

and a toilet. this building has been broken in before....it actually is not longer being used for storage because of the previous break in's....but this is a new low....that will end up sticking the taxpayer with a high price tag. we are thinking that is between 15 and $20,000 because the amount of damage to the doors, the sheet rock, the existing structure it's quite a bit as to who they think did this..... you know if i were to speculate it would probably be juveniles base on some of the alcohol that was left behind some of the damage that was done some of the moniker that were painted on the wallsit's believed the break in happened over the thanksgiving holiday weekend. rohnert park's department of public safety is asking for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to give them a call. maureen kelly kron4 news (viki) big story tonight... the democrats have nominated nancy pelosi to lead them in the new congress. pelosi's showdown for house speaker however will be in

january when lawmakers reconvene. the bay area democrat will need 218 votes to be elected speaker.. and some democrates have pledged that they won't be backing her. pelosi was the first woman speaker of the house from 2007 to 2011 and some say it is rare to reclaim that post after losing it. (vicki) and oakland congresswoman barbara lee has been narrowly defeated in her bid for a leadership position in congress. democrats in the house of representatives voted this morning... and they chose new york congressman hakeen jefferies over lee as caucus chairman.. the position was the fifth spot in the house hierarchy. tonight that parents need to hear. police in northern california are warning about a growing trend in cases known as "sextortion."(grant) one of the most recent cases is in sacramento. joe khalil explains how you can keep your kids from becoming victims. if youúre not sure what áásextortionáá is— youúre not alone.many have never heard of it.but itús a crime.a relatively new and serious one.and itús happening in the sacramento area.'he was contacting young women on social media, indicating he had nude photos of them and threatening to post those photos online.'sacramento sheriffs sergeant shaun hampton says in exchange for keeping those photos secret—this particular suspect who —an 18 years old man— would demand more nude photos—or meetups at parks in carmichael. and in at least one case—farced a young victim -- into a sexual act. 'weúre alarmed this has occurred in our community.' 'unfortunately this is something that we see

relatively often.'james williams and christie hirota are the two detectives who worked on this case.they agreed to talk to us without showing their faces because they often work undercover -- to help catch the suspects behind these kinds of crimes. they say 3 victims of this particular suspect have come forward so far—and there could be two dozen more.'as a parent you need to have open communications with your children. because if you donút allow for that to happen, this is how kids get extorted. theyúre too afraid if something happens to go to their parents.'hirota and williams say victims of sextortion in our region are often as young as 10 to 13 years old.they say if victims know to talk to an adult or contact law enforcement— detectives can work with social media outlets like snap chat or instagram to remove photos used for sextortion. but—they say bottom line to instill in your kids... ) our top story tonight at 5:30... crews in butte county are bracing for heavy rain in the wildfire- burn zone. right now they are clearing drainage ways and removing ash and sediment from creeks and streams-- hoping to prevent heavy debris flow. a water-shed emergency response team is working to identify areas that could be prone to flash flooding and mudslides. experts say the heavy rain tonight could unleash damaging runoff because of the wildfire burn scars. and thousands of camp fire victims are still struggling now three weeks

after the fire started.(vicki) hundreds are still in evacuation shelters while federal agencies try to help. kron 4's ashley zavala spent time with victims who are trying to put their lives back together in chico. kron4 is always tracking local stories. here's a look at what's going on in your neighborhood right now. (grant) in the east bay... a woman could face charges after she was found releasing live tilapia fish into lake chabot. police

say the woman was found just after 1:00 on monday afternoon-- at the lake chabot marina in castro valley. a sergeant with the park district found the woman and learned she released nine tilapia into the lake over the course of two weeks. they say the woman was attempting to rescue the fish from a local market. tilapia is a non-native and invasive fish. releasing live fish into east bay regional park district lakes is a misdemeanor offense. (grant) people living in the east bay will need to learn a new dialing procedure soon. a new 3-1-4 area code will be introduced to the area in july of next year. customers with a 5-1-0 area code will need to dial 1 before the three digit area code starting in june of next year. the state utilities commission recommends people and businesses to reprogram any equitment or alarms systems to dial 1 before the

area code. costumers can start using the new dialing procedure this year on december 15. (vicki) in the north bay... police are searching for a man who stole a play-station 4 from a teenage boy on a city bus. it happened in santa rosa after the boys mother, alana, bought the gaming system on black friday... to reward her son for improving his grades in school. shortly after the mother and her son got on the bus.. they were robbed. surveillance images shows the thief who alana says stole the 300-dollar game system. the next day after learning what happened... alana's coworker's at peo chipped in to help buy her son a new one. (grant) in the south bay... a new project helping raise money for homeless pets is now open in san jose. "pup plaza" opened yesterday in the cambrian park plaza shopping center. it will offer adoptions, arts and crafts for dogs, a party spot, and a retail boutique. the center will also offer yoga with dogs twice a month.

the president of the non-profit says the space will provide the community with resources about adoption and pet guardianship. (vicki) and on the peninsula.... piggy smalls, a stray pig, seen here was spotted wandering in east palo alto earlier this month. if your looking for a new pet, the peninsula humane society says "piggy smalls" is up for adoption. the society doesn't know her age but say she can grow past her current weight of 45 pounds so ample space is needed. the adoption fee is set at a hundred dollars and anyone interested should contact the peninsula humane society. director mark carpenter. mark? the team's struggles for a new ballpark have been well- documented... and hopefully they've found a permament solution...with a state-of-the-art waterfront stadium at howard terminal. these are the renderings released this morning... 34-thousand seat stadium... right on the water with some picturesque views and really transforming the entire neighborhood. --even though they are leaving the coliseum, the team is proposing to take care of that area... building a large park as well as affordable housing, office and retail space. -as far as price is concerned, this will be fully privately financed, but no exact figures or estimates were thrown out on how much it would cost. --here's team president dave kaval....the man who's spearheaded this endeavor and enlisted help from the city and the entire community...on today's development. "we've always liked the idea of a waterfront, downtown, urban location for a ballpark. with

trying to steal confidential information. the site allows users to see certain information about a place or business. now scammers are editing and deleting this information and then replacing it with fake information like fake phone numbers. people then call the fake number and think they are talking to a business... when they are actually talking to the scammer. google says they are working to address the problem. department of public safety is trying to figure out who trashed the inside of a building at a recreation center. kron 4's maureen kelly shows us the extensive damage. the break in was discovered on monday.....the culprits prying open the door.....and then

tore down or kicked in the sheetrock to gain access to the rest of the buildling. here's another hole it appears the vandals did just for fun....there is also lots of grafitti on the walls....ceiling tiles busted out...and garbage left behind. those responsible even bringing in coaches....appa rently using the vacant building as a party house.... and a toilet. it's probable that the break in happened over the thanksgiving holiday weekend. rohnert park's department of public safety is asking for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to give them a call. meanwhile they are using some of what they vandals left behind to try and track them down a lot of the pictures that were painted, a lot of the moniker's that were drawn on the walls to see if we can identify any suspects from those monikersthis building has been broken in before....it actually is not longer being used for storage because of the previous break in's....but this is a new low....that will end up sticking the taxpayer with a high price tag.the cities public works department says because the damage to the building is so extensive they estimate it could cost somewhere between 15 and $20,000 to repair maureen kelly kron4
