lanes are closed going northbound towards highway 101... after a car crashed into a power line pole. that person is now behind bars. kron 4s sanaz tahernia joins us now live with the details. multiple lanes of northbound u.s. highway 101 in rohnert park are currently closed due to low-hanging power lines following a solo-vehicle crash into a power pole, according to the california highway patrol. the chp said the collision happened just after

11:45 p.m. on the freeway just north of the rohnert park expressway. one person was arrested and transported to the hospital, but was not seriously injured, the chp said. no further information on the arrest was provided. as of 3:40 a.m., the no. 3 and 4 lanes are closed, but the no. 1 and 2 lanes are open to traffic, according to the chp. pg&e officials said crews arrived at the scene around 12:45 a.m. and made the scene "safe", but won't be able to clear the lines from the freeway until later today. there is no estimated time of when the repairs will be made, but pg&e officials said there are no power outages in the area. are hearing from business owners following the arrest of a man police say is connected to at least 30 vandalism cases in san rafel. kron 4's philippe djegal spoke with authorities about how they were able to track down the man. (philippe) from big corporations like fedex... to local businesses in san rafael like floortex design... broken windows remain boarded up. allegedly habitually smashed out by the same man over a span of several months -- dating back to august.sgt. justin graham/srpd- "a lot of the initial surveillance video in the early months was of poor quality, or the suspect was too far away from the camera to make an identification." but sergeant justin graham says surveillance video from recent vandalism cases, helped narrow down a suspect to 47- year-old miguel angel parra of san rafael. he's believed to be the man in this video, seen early tuesday morning,

riding on a bike passed floortex, and throwing a rock through the windowsgt. justin graham/srpd- "that was then forwarded to our foot beat downtown officers who were able to locate mr. parra, uh, detained him, and arrested him on two outstanding unrelated warrants by this week... the police department was investigating 30 similar vandalism cases... where the suspect had thrown a rock through the businesses window. and, after his arrest, parra admitted to investigators... that he was involved with at least 12 of those incidents.sgt. justin graham/srpd- "don't have any idea of what the motive was at this point." marin beverage outlet was also victimized this week. the owner says the window repair exceeded 13-hundred dollars. a floortex manager says their repairs will likely hit five thousand dollars. both leaders grateful the san rafael police department got their man.sgt. justin graham/srpd- "he's the only suspect at this point. we are looking into the other cases to see if there are maybe other suspects. obviously, he only admitted to 12 of them." so, he's facing 12 felony counts of vandalism. parra is due in court monday. and, at some point, it's possible the marin county district attorney's office could ask he undergo a mental

( sara )new this morning.... police in san jose believe a driver was making an illegal u-turn moments before a deadly crash. it happened saturday morning on south jackson avenue. police say the driver of a honda accord made a u-turn to head north when it was hit by a chevy trailblazer. both drivers and three passengers in the honda were taken to a hospital. one of the passengers later died at the hospital. ( sara ) this week, survivors of the deadly camp fire returned to their properties in paradise. reporter stephanie lin was with one homeowner who's trying to navigate how to move forward. don mokler:"i've seen fires before, but i've never seen any fire as total as this."don mokler returns to the ruins of his paradise home.don mokler: "and there was another bedroom right here. oh i know what this is. it was a metal desk." the fourth visit for the man who lived here for 20 years...the land now incinerated to ash and rubble. don mokler:"gone. everything is gone. and you can tell from

opioids and wisdom teeth 120418 6 pkgsoti think it's alarming stanford researcher dr. alan schroeder is speaking of the result of his new study which found an increased chance of addiction and abuse for teenage and young adult dental patients perscribed opioids.sot dr. alan schroeder/stanford university school of medicine :12we found that 7% of the patients go on to continue to use opiod perscriptions and 6% were given a diagnosis relating to abuse.dr. schroeder says the study looked at 15-thousand 16 to 25 year old dental patients who were prescribed opiods in 2015. while the percentages may seem relatively low, the study's author says it's definitey a red flagsot in the context of how commonly wisdom teeth are extracted having 6-7% of the patients get opiods that translates to a lot who are having problems in this countryschroeder says dental professionals should take a hard look at the study before prescribing pain medicationsot trying tylenol or ibuprofin first and if pain is inmanageable then maybe a few doses of an opiod but 20 were given on average in our study and that's too many. standup dan kerman/stanford

that have seen a rise in the number of people living in the area without a home.. a mobile hygiene bus with showers, restrooms, and other services will also be provided by the unincorporated county homlessness action plan. last month, leaders approved $340 million dollars in spending to address homelessness through 20-21. ( sara ) police in l-a believe a hate group is responsible for leaving graffiti and drawing images of swastikas on a beloved community mural. it was created 18 years ago in the crenshaw district and has never been damaged before. people discussed the incident with city leaders and law enforcement at a community meeting friday. some believe vandalism was carried out by a hate group, emboldened by the current political climate. the lead detective on the case says he has some evidence, but that they're also looking for witnesses to help them solve the crime.

(philippe) from big corporations like fedex... to local businesses in san rafael like floortex design... broken windows remain boarded up. allegedly habitually smashed out by the same man over a span of several months -- dating back to august.sgt. justin graham/srpd- "a lot of the initial surveillance video in the early months was of poor quality, or the suspect was too far away from the camera to make an identification." but sergeant justin graham says surveillance video from recent vandalism cases, helped narrow down a suspect to 47- year-old miguel angel parra of san rafael. he's believed to be the man in this video, seen early tuesday morning, riding on a bike passed floortex, and throwing a rock through the windowsgt. justin graham/srpd- "that was then forwarded to our foot beat downtown officers who were able to locate mr. parra, uh, detained him, and arrested him on two outstanding unrelated warrants by this week... the police department was investigating 30 similar vandalism cases... where the suspect had thrown a rock through the businesses window. and, after his arrest, parra admitted to investigators... that he was involved with at least 12 of those incidents.sgt. justin

for people living on the streets. its part of a 10 point 5 million dollar plan-- approved by the board of supervisors-- addressing the needs of the homeless.. the money will go to areas that have seen a rise in the number of people living in the area without a home.. a mobile hygiene bus with showers, restrooms, and other services will also be provided by the unincorporated county homlessness action plan. last month, leaders approved $340 million dollars in spending to address homelessness through 20-21. ( sara ) police in l-a believe a hate group is responsible for leaving graffiti and drawing images of swastikas on a beloved community mural. it was created 18 years ago in the crenshaw district and has never been damaged before. people discussed the incident with city leaders and law enforcement at a community meeting friday. some believe vandalism was carried out by a hate group, emboldened by the current political climate. the lead detective on the case says he has some evidence, but

the surfer who died after rescuers pulled him from the water at san francisco's ocean beach. crews rushed the man to the hospital where we was pronounced dead friday afternoon. kron4's dan thorn has reaction from the surf community about this tragic death. much calmer water for people looking to catch some waves saturday. ocean beach surfers say the day before was much rougher..sot: it was one of the first big winter swells of the season so waves were big damon caughell (call) and his buddy clayton roth say they come to this beach often.the news of someone dying after being pulled out of the waves friday is not something they ever want to hear about a fellow surfer sot: oh it's awful, its awful our prayers go out to the family that is dealing with this situation it's not something you ever want to hear about. the national weather service issued a beach hazard--warning people about the water at the beach. officials say the waves swelled to 10 feet on thursday and friday. forecasters are expecting the milder weekend to continue. local surfers say

( sara )new this morning.... police in san jose believe a driver was making an illegal u-turn moments before a deadly crash. it happened saturday morng on south jackson avenue. police say the driver of a honda accord made a u-turn to head north when it was hit by a chevy trailblazer. both drivers and three passengers in the honda were taken to a hospital. one of the passengers later died at the hospital. ( sara ) this week, survivors of the deadly camp fire returned to their properties in paradise.
