driver slams right into two women crossing a street in san jose this morning. we paused the video right before the impact. you can then see the driver returns to the scene moments later--- and drives off again. tonight-- police are still looking for that driver as the women are being treated at the hospital for their injuries. good evening i'm vicki liviakis. (grant) and i'm grant lodes. today's accident occurred right in front of a school... and police say the driver of the hit and run vehicle was speeding. kron four's rob fladeboe is live in san jose with the latest. rob? ... (rob live) im here at 33rd and berrywood off mckee road. the women were in the crosswalk when they were hit. the driver just kept on going. this was the scene that has rattled neighbors near the intersection of 33rd avenue and berrywood drive just north of mckee road. the two pedestrians, both women, were crossing 33rd from east to west when they were hit by a

vehicle that did not stop and remains at large says officer gina tepoortenofficer gina tepoorten/san jose police "...we are looking into the fact that speed was a contributing factor and that the two pedestrians were in the crosswalk when the collision occurred...."skid marks suggest the hit and run driver was doing well over the school zone 25 mile per hour speed limit. an hour later and there would be a lot of kids crossing the street to nearby anne darling elementary. off camera, this neighbor joined the call for a stop sign or speed bumps here. anonymous neighbor "....all the neighbors here are wondering how long it's going to be before someone is killed..."neighbor ".....it's so sad, i don't know how people can be so careless and hit someone and then just leave...."police are looking at surveillance video but so far have released no informationabout the alleged hit and run driver while describing the suspect vehicle only as a dark colored sedan. both victims were sent to the hospital, one with life- threatening injuries.officer gina tepoorten/san jose police ".....it's the holidays, there's a a lot of traffic and people are busy, we are askingthem to slow down and stay off their electronics and be aware of their surroundings...." murder of a 17-year-old teen from san ramon-- has been arrested in texas. police announced today they arrested 21-year-old christian kelling of fremont-- at a home in travis county, near austin. officers say they received a tip that he fled to that area to avoid being caught. kelling was wanted in connection with the murder of 17-year-old damani chadly, a senior at california high school in san ramon. the incident happened in fremont three weeks ago. police are describing it as a marijuana deal gone wrong. they say kelling was selling pot to chadly and his 19-year-old friend, when there was an altercation. officers say that is when kelling fired several shots into their car-- killing chadly. the driver was taken to the hospital and later released. (grant) it's a big night for one bay area family. the mother of a dying boy who was granted a visa... is now just hours away from landing at s-f-o.(vicki) that's where we find kron 4's alecia reid tonight with the latest on the family reunion. alecia? this is a bittersweet reunion.

this mother hasn't seen her 2 year old son in months.and in just a couple of hours, shaima swilehwill be landing at the international terminal. the state department granted the visa waiver yesterday morning after her son abdullah's story spread on social media.abdullah suffers from a genetic brain condition that continues to worsen. months ago, his father brought him to california to seek medical treatment.the toddler and his dad are u-s citizens ....however, shaima ... is a yemeni national who currently lives in egypt.she was denied access to the u-s due to the muslim ban.ali says he was about to pull his son off life support last week.and this gesture will help his family mourn with dignity.there's a

(vicki) police in san francisco are releasing more information about a car involved in a deadly hit and run. this is surveillance video showing the suspects car.. as well as a woman believed to be the driver. it happened a week ago at bush and leavenworth. investigator are now saying that the car that fled the scene is a dark colored 2007 or 2008 honda fit. the car is expected to have front end damage-- and employees of auto body shops are being asked to be on the lookout. 58-year-old teresita collins was killed in the crash. ... (grant) in the north bay... police in petaluma are looking for a man who they say stole a football jersey from a sports memorabilia store. these are pictures of the suspect. it happened last night at

"national sports memorabilia" in the petaluma premium outlets. police say the man in his 20s or 30s stuffed the jersey into his pants before leaving the store. in the photos you can see a large tattoo on the back of his neck. officers are now asking for the publics help identifying him. (vicki) to the peninsula now ... where policeay two women and three juveniles were arrested for vandalizing a safeway in pacifica. police say the group was attempting to steal about 1- thousand dollars worth of alcohol from the store in the linda mar shopping center. when they were confronted by store employees ... the group dropped the alcohol and smashed other items on the ground before running away to a car. police later caught up with them in parking lot of a walgreens. (vicki) back to a big story we are following tonight. more problems for facebook. the company reportedly offered more usa data than it previously admitted to 150 major companies-- including microsoft, amazon, netflix, and spotify. (grant) joining us now to talk about this bombshell report is adam schwartz with the electronic frontier foundation. adam thanks for joining us. the new york times is dropping a bombshell about how facebook reportedly shared its users' data with other companies.the paper says the data was shared with more than 150-businesses, including amazon, microsoft, netflix and spotify.according to the times, some companies got access to users' names and contact information - and their friends' names.while others even had the ability to

read users' private messages. the paper says it obtained the information from internal facebook documents.ceo mark zuckerberg has assured facebook users that they have a complete control of who can see their content.in response to the report, facebook said that its partners - quote - "don't get to ignore people's privacy settings."the times says many of those partnerships ended years ago. the attorney general in the nation's capital has filed a lawsuit against facebook for allowing data-mining firm cambridge analytica to improperly access data from as many as 87 million users.the lawsuit was filed wednesday by karl racine, the attorney general for the district of columbia. it alleges that facebook misled users about the security of their data and failed to properly monitor third-party apps.after the revelations about cambridge analytica, congressional hearings were held and facebook changed what sorts of data it lets outside developers access.it was revealed this week that facebook's privacy controls had broken down yet again. in that case, a software flaw affected nearly 7 million users, leading to their photos being exposed to a much wider audience than they had

gets his car impounded after covering his license plates with a price label for safeway chicken wings. this happened in marin county last night. a c-h-p officer pulled over the man who was driving his mustang south on highway 101 near sir francis drake boulevard. officers say the man ripped the label in half... and covered the half... and covered the front and rear plates. the price label was for a pound of teriyaki chicken wings from earlier in the day. the c-h-p says officers in the area says officers the c-h-p says officers in the area sometimes catch drivers with obstructed plates who are trying to avoid tolls. the man was tolls.

another hit and run accident to report out of san jose.... the third in less than a week. you can see we've stopped the video here just before a vehicle collides with two women.... seriously injuring them. kron four's rob fladeboe has the details... as police are now searching for the driver who left the scene.. amra singh and his neighbors were shaken by the scene they woke up to early today near the intersection of 33rd avenue and berrywood drive just north of mckee road. two pedestrians, both women, were crossing 33rd from east to west when they were hit by a vehicle that did not stop and remains at large says officer gina tepoortenofficer gina tepoorten/san jose police "...we are looking into the fact that speed was a contributing factor and that

(ken) a big story tonight... a bay area man wanted in connection to the murder of a 17-year-old teen from san ramon-- has been arrested in texas. police announced today they arrested 21-year-old christian kelling of fremont-- at a home in travis county, near austin. officers say they received a tip that he fled to that area to avoid being caught. kelling was wanted in connection with the murder of 17-year-old damani chadly, a senior at california high school in san ramon. the

(pam) the county of santa cruz took significant action this week ... to reinstate public access at rio del mar beach in aptos.(ken) it's the latest salvo in a string of coastal access fights in northern california. reporter phil gomez has more. county crews tore down a gated fence and a 6-foot wall along beach drive despite a lawsuit

filed in november by the rio del mar beach island home owners association who have houses along beach dr.the lawsuit claims the county never recorded an easement nor did they do any work on the property or show interest in it.santa cruz county supervisors zach friend says the pathway belongs to the county and the public has the right to it.friend says for the last few years, the county has been working to facilitate the reopening of the public pathway."we made it clear that this is a public access point and that the main thing blocking the public access point is both the wall and the fence behind us. we sent letters the coastal commission sent letters over the last couple of years. we are now recommitted to the community that we would reopen fully this public access point to the public," said friend. the county plans to hang up new signs and raise community awareness about the walkway that they own.the rio del mar dispute is the latest in a string of coastal access fights in northern california. in november, santa cruz county and the opal cliffs recreation district reached an

out-of-court agreement regarding public access of privates beach in santa cruz. the district had threatened legal action.in october, the u.s. supreme court turned down another public access case involving martins beach in half moon bay.billionaire tech investor vinod khosla bought the land and an access road and padlocked a gate in 2010 to bar access.it had been a widely popular surfing spot on highway 1.a permit process to re-open access is underway. khosla's attorney plan to fight it. today's the first day of sacred heart community service is annual toy giveaway. where they try to make kids of working families struggling to make ends meet here in the bay area have a happy holiday season. their goal is to help over 6000 kids by giving away close and 19,000 toys. parents or guardians who made appointments are able to shop with a volunteer elf to help pick out two toys and a book per child and angela lottery and enter a lottery to possibly win a bike. this is the 54th year that this nonprofit has held this toy giveaway. they've already given away nearly 7550 pound boxes of food this holiday season. despite being located in the silicon valley here in the bay area common one of the most expensive regions in the united states if not the world. they say the need is real. "our members report to spending 80% of their paychecks on housing costs alone. it's really leaving a little left behind for them to celebrate their holiday traditions." those i talk to picking out toys for their kids say they really appreciate the help. (grant) orange county deputies have arrested taken ashley bemis. she's the 28-year-old san juan capistrano woman, who made headlines in august when dozens of people accused her of fraud. detectives say she posted fake pictures on social media, of her and her fictitious firefighter husband. she climed to be raising money and collecting donated items for firefighters battling the holy fire. but investigators say bemis fraudulently collected more than 2 thousand dollars. during a search of her apartment and garage, they allegedly found donated items she collected from locals and businesses. (grant) detectives say that wasn't bemis' first fraud carried out on social media. they say she pretended to be a

(pam) two losses for white house immigration policy today -- specifically relating to asylum claims. a short time ago ago... u.s. judge in san francisco extended his decision blocking the trump administration from enforcing a ban on asylum for immigrants who attempt to cross the border illegally. that block will remain in place pending the outcome of a lawsuit challenging the legality of the ban... which could take months to resolve. meanwhile.... the u-s district court for washington d-c ... ruled against a policy established by former attorney general jeff sessions. the rule made it difficult for victims of domestic and gang violence.. to qualify for asylum in the u-s. the judge agreed that the policy unlawfully imposed a heightened standard in reviewing their claims. a bay area man had his car impounded after covering his license plates with a price label for safeway chicken wings. this happened in marin county last night. a c-h-p officer pulled over the man who was driving his mustang south on highway 101 near sir francis drake boulevard. officers say earlier... the man ripped the label in half... and covered parts of the front and rear plates. the price label was for a pound of teriyaki chicken wings from earlier in the day. the

c-h-p says officers in the area sometimes catch drivers with obstructed plates who are trying to avoid tolls. the man was cited for driving on a suspended license and driving with an obstructed license plate. let's take a look outside right now... chief meteorologist lawrence karnow joins us now with the four zone forecast. lawrence karnow: cool fog slowly gave way to partly cloudy skies and cool temperatures. high pressure brought dry weather to the bay area today. on the satellite you can see high pressure sending the storm track north. clouds will increase by tomorrow afternoon with a chance of showers tomorrow night. highs tomorrow will be in the 50s to low 60s. it should be dry into the first part of the weekend with a chance of showers late saturday night and into sunday morning.. more rain is possible christmas eve and christmas day.
